This study focuses on five main purposes, all of them interrelated and each focused on ethical values, virtues, or character values. The five purposes are: a) Investigate college students' perceptions of ethical values, including their importance, application, usefulness, origin, benefits, need for education, and courses proposed to be included in the curricula; b) Review literature in areas related to ethical values, virtues or character values of college students; c) Develop and pilot an instrument to assess the ethical values of college students; d) Improve and use the developed instrument to describe the status of college students' ethical values; and e) Present conclusions and recommendations from the analysis of the data results. The primary research question was, "What are the ethical values that college students have?" Nine secondary research questions were also studied. This study reviews a summary of 28 lists of values or character strengths proposed by various authors and philosophers across time, as well as the opinions by others who are not a part of any given list. The study will provide an analysis and selection by the author of 28 values identified from the 28 lists. Finally, an instrument which includes a list of 28 values, to assess the above areas of research was developed. This instrument will be available for other researchers to utilize or to conduct additional research as a consequence of this study's findings.

Developing an Analysing a Web Application made for Teachers to Evaluate Students' Performance : Utveckling och analys av en webbapplikation för examinatorers analys av elevers lärande

Hultqvist, Andreas, Hultqvist, Tobias January 2021 (has links)
The need to learn programming increases as more jobs require basic programming skills and computer knowledge. Compulsory school is adding programming to the curriculum, which leads to challenges due to both teachers and students are new to this subject. Even at the university level some students get in touch with programming for the first time in their lives.  This thesis aim to develop a web application that can be used by teachers as a reliable and informative tool when evaluating the learning process of its students, by combining data collected through user interactions while solving programming related puzzles in Python, with answers from periodic self-evaluation surveys.  The study shows that the web application can be seen as a valid tool when evaluating the students' learning process.

”Distinguishing features of visionary non-profit organisations”

Berry, Regan 30 June 2005 (has links)
The researcher undertook exploratory research to see whether characteristics of visionary organizations, as discovered in research undertaken by Collins and Porras (2000), are present and applicable to non-profit organizations in Gauteng, South Africa. The characteristics are: - a core ideology (core purpose and core values) - big hairy audacious goals - a cult-like culture - purposeful evolution and continuous self improvement - management continuity - alignment. A schedule was used to interview directors of ten non-profit organizations. Some staff in each organization were given a questionnaire to see whether their answers correlated with the director responses. The research indicated that most characteristics are present, to some degree, in the non-profit organizations. These characteristics could however be explored more thoroughly in further research. The research includes recommendations for management of non-profit organizations to implement, to become visionary organizations. / Social work / M.A. (Social Work)
