Truth and Subjectivity in S. Kierkegaard’s Postscriptum / Verdad y subjetividad en el Postscriptum de S. Kierkegaard

Zelada, Manuel 10 April 2018 (has links)
The following commentary offers an analysis of subjective truth in Soren Kierkegaard’s Concluding Unscientific Postscript to his Philosophical Fragments. Our intention is to discuss Kierkegaard’s reflections on subjective truth, in order to show that, rather than claiming that the subject’s interiority defines truth (subjectivism), Kierkegaard thought that truth supposes more than the subject itself.

O trabalho se referencia pelos conceitos de genealogia, estética da existência e modos de subjetivação formulados por Michel Foucault, aproximando-os dos debates sobre as relações de gênero, em especial nas concepções de Joan W. Scott, Luce Irigaray e Rosi Braidotti / Abstract: The purpose of this research is to map the life trajectories and the musical productions of Alice Ruiz, Alzira Espíndola, Tetê Espíndola and Ná Ozzetti, composers who presently live in São Paulo and that have taken part in the musical moment named ¿Vanguarda Paulista¿ by the São Paulo press. Working with the records, it seeks to discern how the subjectivity of those artists is produced, how were created their songs in partnership and how the gender relations are expressed in musical composition. It also inquires about the feminine dimension in the artistic construction, trying to guess the specificities in women¿s poetic and musical creation. The references of the dissertation are the concepts of genealogy, esthetics of the existence and subjectivation modes set forth by Michel Foucault, putting them near the discussion about the gender relations, particularly in the conceptions of Joan W. O eu Ãntimo e o eu social na poesia de Bueno de Rivera

Anderson Ibsen Lopes de Souza 12 February 2009 (has links)
Bueno de Riveraâs poems present, on the compound of their characters, a high concern about the ontological factor, always searching for the human beingâs description, as by the lyrical view, through intimate and subjective poetry, as on his everyday, exposing him as a being-with-the-others, immersed in society, besides presenting his anguish and piety with the human raceâ suffering. This poetry combine with the postulates of Martin Heideggerâs ontological-existencialist philosophy, once it analyses the human beingâs life from the point of view of the anguish from the conscience of the death and the quarrel about man, investigating the being-there â term that indicates the humanâs existence, as well as with the being-with-the-others â, helping our understanding about the analyzed poetâs thoughts. Trying to comprehend the subjectivity on Riveraâs poems, we will analyze some of the Leitmotive chosen by him to develop his poetry, investigating the symbols and inquiring carefully the ideas. We believe that Bueno de Riveraâs poetry is a permanent searching for the unveiling of the human being from his own and the place in which he is inserted, in an inquisitor looking for everything that transforms him in man, that is, in a being single and social, at once.

Essays on Economic Behaviour / Essays on Economic Behaviour

Hudík, Marek January 2009 (has links)
The main thesis of these essays is that social phenomena are different from psychological phenomena and thus social sciences do not belong to behavioural sciences. Chapter 1 introduces the fundamental problem of the rational choice theory ("Macaulay's problem"): either the theory is empirical and false or it is without empirical content and true. Various suggested solutions to this problem are reviewed and criticized. It is argued that the problem is evaded once it is admitted that rational choice theory does not attempt to explain behaviour. It was developed to explain decreasing individual demand and its extension to behavioural sciences is illegitimate. In Chapter 2 the difference between the interpretation of rationality in choice theory and demand theory is shown. It is argued that choice theory must adopt the agent's point of view, while demand theory proceeds from the point of view of an observer. Chapter 3 applies the argument to the problem of indifference ("Nozick's problem"): it claims that choice theory must adopt strict ordering of alternatives because indifference is already accounted for in the description of the choice alternatives. The difference between the consumer perception and the objective price-quantity relation embodied in the demand function is further explored in Chapter 4 on the example of the Rothbardian demand theory. It is argued that the law of marginal utility defined in terms of subjective units (i.e. units relevant to the consumer) does not imply nonincreasing demand. Chapter 5 is complementary to the previous and attempts to answer the question, whether the concept of marginal utility is compatible with ordinalism. Finally, Chapter 6 discusses on the methodological level the difference between behavioural sciences and economics. It argues that the difference can be conveniently described with the help of Popper's concepts of 'World 2'and 'World 3'.

The implications of New Age thought for the quest for truth : a historical perspective

Horn, Irmhild Helene, 1945- 06 1900 (has links)
This thesis tries to give a critically considered view of what New Age thought is about, where it came from, and where it takes education and the scientific quest for truth. The interest of this study lies in exposing the underlying New Age beliefs and premises so that the implications that New Age thought has for truly meaningful human development and the educational and scientific quest for truth can be determined. A historical investigation which proceeds from the assumption that New Age thought is a phenomenon with philosophical underpinnings that lie in Western historical dynamics is utilised in order to extract and give context to the beliefs and premises in which New Age thought is anchored. Firstly, the movements in the West's alternative mystical and magical spiritual tradition from which current New Age spiritual approaches issue are scrutinized. This is followed by an exploration of mainstream Western history. Foundational premises and central ideas concerning New Age anthropology, morality, cosmology, and epistemology which issue forth from theories in Western philosophy, psychology, and science are identified and critically analysed. From these analyses, the meaning and direction that New Age thought circumscribes for human development and learning are fully explored and evaluated. It is found that New Age thought upholds a magical worldview in which the objective existence of truth is denied. Because New Age thought does not create educational space in which the quest for truth as obedience to truth can be learnt and practised, emotional, moral, and cognitive development is arrested and the real, educational value in scientific inquiry is defeated. This study is concluded with suggestions that are personal yet grounded in the findings of this research as to the defense and upholdment of the idea of objective truth in moral and intellectual education.

Utida, Yasmin Cobaiachi 09 December 2016 (has links)
This research aims to describe the testimonial-movie genre (GUTFREIND, 2010, p. 200) simultaneously designated by historic and subjective dimensions as a cultural topic of memory (ACHARD et al., 2007) from Die Widerständigen: Zeugen der Weißen Rose (Those who resisted: Witnesses of the White Rose) subtitling, a documentary by Katrin Seybold (2008). This film encloses 14 interviews with witnesses of the non-violent student activists resistance group known as the White Rose, that rose against the German national socialist movement. The movie has been produced 65 years after capital punishment executions against the major members of the group. Therefore, this movie is extremely meaningful to the dissemination and the preservation of the German resistance memories. Under this assumption, this work is based on the intersection between concepts and methods of Translation Studies, mainly functionalist perspectives and audiovisual translation (AVT), as well as Memory Studies. Considering Christiane Nords Model for Textual Analysis (2005, 2016) and the interdisciplinary theoretical framework about witnessing (SELIGMANN-SILVA 2013, RICOEUR 2014, SARLO 2007, among others), we have transcribed, translated and developed subtitles for The dissidents: White Rose witnesses, an unreleased documentary in Brazil. For the subtitling process, an instrumental translation was chosen, since this AVT model shows time and space restrictions which require condensation, retextualization and omission procedures. The choice of not omitting traces of subjectivity and trauma in speech, inherent elements to the testimonial narrative, led us to translational decisions that go beyond technical standards and conventions concerning subtitling in order to afford a translation that is true to its scope (NORD, 2005, p.33). Thus, we expect to narrow the gap in matters of translation procedures in documental movies, as well to spread and preserve the memory of White Rose in Brazil, a country where the subject of the German resistance is still little known and studied.

A Constituição da Identidade do Professor do Ensino Secundário em Cabo Verde: Uma Abordagem Sócio-Histórica

With the objective of putting the subject in context, a vast social and historical description of Cape Verde is done. Based on the socio-historical approach, a narrative analysis of the life story of an experienced teacher is done, articulating the identity theory elaborated by Ciampa and the sociohistorical theory elaborated by Vygotsky and the studies about subjectivity that are being improved by Gonzalez Rey. The identity, consciousness, activity, meaning and sense categories appear as guiding axis of the constitution of a unique and real subject that at the same time materializes the universal. The theoretical-empirical analysis confirmed the hypothesis mentioned, implied in the categories and showed that the identity is an unfinished process of continuity, rupture and surpassing the professional and biographical constitution mediate by the sense and meaning that the subject gives to himself, to the world and his place in the world. So, it is considered that the objectives proposed in this study had been widely achieved. However, different possibilities of interpretation and conclusions remain open since identity is a process, is movement which in its study terms aspires only the understanding and a minimum of consensus, and not intend to reach a final, absolute result. The theoretical and social relevance of this work precisely relies on the way these two theories were articulated (identity and subjectivity) and in filling an important space in the Cape Verde literature / O objectivo deste trabalho é compreender o processo de constituição da identidade do professor do ensino secundário em Cabo Verde e contribuir para romper com as especulações quanto ao seu papel e importância na construção da sociedade caboverdiana.

Ginetti, Emerson 10 May 2010 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Emerson Ginetti.pdf: 664930 bytes, checksum: 7584d2eecbcbbd465127b00f2dcb8f59 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-05-10 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This work aims to make an analysis of the crisis of ethical values while considering it to be a crisis of historical values, according to Ferdinand Max Scheler. There exists an explanation to the crisis, as well as a possible solution: the rescue of material ethics of objective values, which are shaped in configurations prevalent within modern man, lacking references capable of sustaining an ethic that will lead to perfect morality and its own achievement. Note that the crisis is marked by secularism, relativism and subjectivism in the axiological field. The current crisis gives a reversal in the hierarchy of values. This trend is the subordination of the highest to the lowest. This reversal in the hierarchy of values, according to Scheler, is motivated by the morale of those who are affected by "resentment" and "humanitarianism". Note that the need for sustained moral values is more stable and durable. Non-impregnated interests or subjective elaborations where the moral act is sustained by the paradigms presented by modernity. The highest values are subject to those associated with sensitivity to the matter. Thus, Scheler proposes his objectivist ethics as a possible replacement for subjectivism predominant in modern society, aspiring to something that sustains human life and work / O presente trabalho tem como objetivo tecer uma análise da crise dos valores éticos, considerando-a como uma crise de valores históricos, segundo o pensamento de Ferdinand Max Scheler.
