Förgiftad av svartsjuka eller driven av hat? : En kvalitativ studie om kvinnliga och manliga gärningspersoner i svensk nyhetsjournalistik / Poisoned by jealousy or driven by hatred? : A qualitative study of female and male perpetrators in Swedish news journalism

Löfgren, Evelina, Elfving, Emily January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study was to examine how female and male murder perpetrators are represented in Swedish news journalism. We examined four specific murder cases, with two female and two male perpetrators, and the questions examined were: How are female and male perpetrators represented in news journalism, and what differences and similarities can be found in these representations? We made a critical discourse analysis of 21 news articles, published between the day of the crime and the day of the verdict, from the tabloids Aftonbladet and Expressen. The result shows that female perpetrators are represented as driven by their emotions, either as victims for unrequited love or as evil, jealous women. Male perpetrators, on the contrary, are represented with attributes that are associated with masculinity. The reporting of female perpetrators is also more intense and dramatically structured. Our study also shows similarities between perpetrators regardless of gender. They are represented as cold hearted and deviant, and the news articles are constructed almost as fiction, with sensational writing and dramatic storytelling.

The use of verbs in newspaper headlines : A case study of two British newspapers

Salomonsson, Tina January 2011 (has links)
This essay deals with verb use in headlines. More specifically, the aim was to see if therewere any differences between two British newspapers in how verbs were used in headlines. Inorder to carry out this study, 100 headlines were collected from each of the newspapers andorganized into groups; headlines that included verbs and headlines that did not. A decisionwas made to only look at two types of verbs; main verbs and auxiliaries. The results showed that The Independent as well as The Sun generally contains verbs. TheIndependent has a slightly higher rate when main verbs and auxiliaries are put together. However, The Sun uses more auxiliaries. Only primary and modal auxiliaries are used in TheSun as well as in The Independent, no semi-auxiliaries were found in any of the newspaperheadlines. Another interesting fact was that The Independent has removed all auxiliaries in theforms of be. Then Sun too seems to prefer headlines without this particular auxiliary but therewere a few headlines which included forms of be.A comparison between the results presented in this study and a study carried out by Mårdhduring the late 1970’s shows similar results. The present study is far more limited in itsmaterial but the parts that could be compared shows that the verb use in newspaper headlineshas not changed much during the past few decades.

Vilket minne? : Historiebruk kring Göteborgskravallerna i svensk kvällspress / Which memory? : Use of history in Swedish tabloids in relation to the riot’s in Gothenburg

Sjöberg, John January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the use of historic memory  in relation to the riot’s in Gothemburg 14-16/6 2001. The empirical study is done through an examination, using a mainly qualitative method, of two Swedish tabloid papers (Aftonbladet and Expressen) published at the the time of the riot’s. The aim and goal for this study was to examine the process/struggle which took place over how the memory of this event was shaped. This study will show a more versatile, a true picture of that process. Also how different it was portrayed in the two tabloids and how those stories changed character daily depending on what happened.

Jakubů, Kamila January 2017 (has links)
In the theoretical part, the hypothesis about more prevalent occurences in serious and tabloid newspapers will be established. This hypothesis will be validated by research literature. Furthermore, the chosen occurrences will be described in details on the basis of secondary literature. In the practical part, the selected occurrences will be mapped out in chosen serious and tabloid newspapers and the frequency of their appearance will be compared. The aim is to describe the language means that are typical for serious respectively tabloid newspapers. By selected occurrences (for example anglicisms, FVG, phraseologisms etc.) will be monitored not only their frequency, but especially the current trends in the use of these phenomena. Multimodality and Negotiation of Cape Flats Identity in Selected Daily Voice Front pages

Matthews, Waseem January 2009 (has links)
Magister Artium - MA / This thesis explores the social semiotic relationship of visual and verbal signs of the Daily Voice tabloid as a way to show how the social context influences meaning of the signs used in its multimodal frontpages. The Daily Voice tabloid largely uses Kaapse English/ Afrikaans as spoken by Coloureds on the Cape Flats on its frontpages rather than standard English or standard Afrikaans associated with White people. The study assumes that the meaning constructed by and through the verbal and visual signs on the Daily Voice frontpages is interdependent on the relationship the multimodal texts have with the largely Cape Flats readership. This study maintains the importance of the idea of the localisation of meaning in socio-cultural specific contexts throughout. I conclude that Kress and Van Leeuwen’s (1996/2006) design could be extended beyond Westernised contexts and that marginalised discourses such as those unique to the Cape Flats are not static, but indeed dynamic. I also extend the appraisal theory by Martin and White (2005) to marginalised bilingual discourse and establish that Appraisal theory can be used to not only evaluate verbal discourse but also that visual discourse needs to be considered as a tool within the appraisal framework. I also conclude by suggesting a monolectal view of Kaapse English/Afrikaans discourse. That is, the meaning potential of Kaapse English/Afrikaans by Cape Flats speakers would be lost if perceived or analysed as emanating from two languages, (White) English and (White) Afrikaans. Therefore the conclusion is that the Daily Voice uses Kaapse English/Afrikaans as is used in Cape Flats socio-cultural contexts to construct meaning-making options across its frontpages. / South Africa

“Han är för vass, intellektuellt sett, för sitt eget bästa” : En kvalitativ gestaltningsanalys om hur fallet med “Bunkerläkaren" gestaltades i Kvällsposten och Kristianstadsbladet / “He is too sharp, intellectually, for his own good” : A qualitative framing analysis of how the case of “Bunkerläkaren” was portrayed in Kvällsposten and Kristianstadsbladet.

Wojcik, Aleksandra, Rydberg, Alva January 2021 (has links)
On September 12, 2015, a 37-year-old doctor named Martin Trenneborg kidnapped a woman from Stockholm named Isabel Eriksson. He locked her in a bunker on his yard in Östra Göringe kommun. The woman was reported missing and six days after the kidnapping, Martin Trenneborg and Isabel Eriksson returned to Stockholm to tell the police that she was ok. Later that day she managed to tell the police that she was kidnapped. Martin Trenneborg was later sentenced to eight years in prison.  The aim of this study is to examine how the case is framed in two Swedish newspapers and examine the differences between tabloids and broadsheets. This study examines the media coverage of this case in the two newspapers Kvällsposten and Kristianstadsbladet. Previous studies shows that there is a difference between tabloids and broadsheet. It also shows that there is a difference between how victims and perpetrators are portrayed, which can be connected to media stereotypes of the “ideal victim” and the “ideal perpetrator”.  Through a qualitative framing analysis, we examine how Martin Trenneborg, Isabel Eriksson and the case is framed in the two Swedish newspapers. The conclusion of this study matches with the previous research. It can be said that there are both similarities and differences between Kvällsposten and Kristianstadsbladet. Both newspapers chose to report on the same events but in different ways. What seperated them were the sensational expressions in the tabloids. The victim and the offender were portrayed differently in both newspapers depending on what the article focused on, as the study’s frames prove.

Verbální a vizuální sdělení na titulních stranách deníku Aha! a jejich znaková tvorba / Verbal and Visual Contents at the Title Pages of Newspaper Aha! and their Semiotic Productin

Protiva, Luboš January 2013 (has links)
The title page is clearly the main representative of the print media, which often determines their success or failure. An even greater justification for the tabloid newspapers whose everyday existence depends on nonabonent readers. A typical representative of tabloid domestic news is Aha!, which creates his main communicator with no real functioning of the theoretical model. This does not mean that it does not work with repetitive characters or signs in this work to clearly identify key elements for creating and thus the theoretical framework that can be used in practice. To this will serve as an analysis relating to the actual Aha!, so comparisons with by the Lidove noviny and Hospodarske noviny. Researched topic will also be given one of the topical issues related images and text.

Vem och vad äger sportbilagornas etta? : En kvantitativ innehållsanalys av kvällstidningarnas sportbilagors förstasidor / Who and what owns the sports sections first page? : A quantitative content analysis of the tabloid newspapers sports sections first pages

Andersson, Jonas, Håkansson, Elias January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to illustrate how the Swedish tabloid press construct their sports sections front pages and what they present on these pages. A second purpose, and by the first following, was to investigate the items these newspapers offer the audience to add to their daily agendas. The aim to show a bigger picture of the front pages content was reached by implementing a content analysis of 196 front pages from the two largest tabloid newspapers in Sweden, Aftonbladet and Expressen, during a period of four years. The study examined 98 items per newspaper and since the aim was to examine sports journalism the units were chosen from the two newspapers sports sections, Sportbladet and SportExpressen. The great conclusions that were made during this process were the differences in between genders, the dominating sports and what big part sponsors have in sports. The most common front page shows a Swedish man playing football in the age between 20-35. A less common page is woman, playing any sport. She is only found on nine of a hundred front pages. As in the case of men, football is the dominating sport in Swedish tabloid press. On second place we found ice hockey. What we also could find was the big part sponsors have in sports. We saw the logos of sponsors on every second front page.

蘋果日報對聯合報、中國時報的影響

張卉穎 Unknown Date (has links)

"Jag hatar killar. Hatar hatar hatar" : En kvalitativ innehållsanalys av Aftonbladets nyhetsrapportering kring överfallsvåldtäkt respektive festivalvåldtäkt / "I hate boys. Hate hate hate" : A qualitative content analysis of Aftonbladet's news reporting of assault rape and rape at festivals

Eriksson, Kajsa, Fors, Emma January 2017 (has links)
The essay examines how the Swedish tabloid newspaper Aftonbladet portrays rape in their news reports. The rape cases that the study is going to analyze are rape that has occurred at festivals, delimited to Bråvallafestivalen 2016, as well as other cases of assault rape taking place during the summer of 2016. The study will also examine potential similarities and differences between the news reports of these two types of rape.By using theories such as Christie’s theory of the Ideal Victim, the Framing theory, the Dramaturgy of the Media Logic, and the News Value theory, in combination with a qualitative content analysis, the textual content of each article is analysed based upon five themes. These themes are how the headline and preamble are constructed, how the victim is portrayed, how the perpetrator is portrayed, how the environment is portrayed, and which other actors that are being mentioned as well as how they are being mentioned. The results of the thematic analysis shows that some differences do exist, when it comes to how Aftonbladet portrays rape at festivals in comparison to assault rape. By using less emotive words and more neutral descriptions in the articles about festival rape, the victims appear as less innocent, the perpetrators as more passive and aloof, while the environment could be perceived as less respectable, as compared to the articles about assault rape. This portrayal can be interpreted as normalizing the rapes that take place at festivals.
