The study was initiated by Swedish Tennis Syd in collaboration with Halmstad University with the intention to examine the existing tennis talent development environments for 13-16 years of age players. The purpose of the study was to (1) examine the retrospective experiences of the talent de- velopment environments among players who already passed the focal age, (2) examine the retro- spective and concurrent experiences of the talent development environments among tennis coaches, and (3) examine the concurrent experience of the talent development environments among parents whose kids were active in tennis in the focal age. The study involved 14 participants whom had connection to tennis clubs within Swedish Tennis Syd’s working region. Data were collected through three focus groups interviews consisting of players, coaches, and parents. Eight major themes emerged from the data analysis: atmosphere in the clubs, organization of the training groups, amount of training, quality of the training, access to expert assistance, amount of competi- tion, combination of school and tennis, and, parental involvement. Each theme was analyzed within the group and across the three groups. The results revealed perceptions of the clubs environments and future recommendation to improve the talent development environments for tennis players of 13-16 years old.

Can we recreate the ”Bengan Boys” era? : A case study on Athletic Talent Development Environment and psychological needs in young handball playersDahl, Mattias, Andersson, Viktor January 2015 (has links)
The study’s purpose was to describe a handball ATDE (Athletic Talent Development Environment) in the south of Sweden and to examine and derive the success factors of the ATDE, and within this context explore the motivational climate and autonomy support as perceived by members of the ATDE. The study is based on three theories: the Holistic ecological approach, Self Determination theory and Achievement Goal theory. The study’s participants all represented a club in the south of Sweden and consisted of players in the age of 15-19, the club manager, coaches and parents. The study was conducted through semi-structured interviews, observations and analysis of documents surrounding the club's vision and training/match policies. A total of seven interviews with four players, two coaches and the manager were conducted. Five observations at a minimum of 90 minutes gave the authors a broader view of the ATDE. An analysis of content and a triangulation with the supervisor were conducted in order to interpret the empirical data. The study revealed that the club is under re-organization, and its enthusiasm to evolve and become even better. The study found the ATDE to have a mastery oriented and autonomy supportive climate which in many ways contributed to the successful features of the ATDE. The study confirms earlier research regarding ATDE success factors as well as connections between SDT and AGT. The results also provide a deeper understanding of how successful factors, relationships, motivational climate and the autonomy support in an ATDE, affects young handball player’s motivation to evolve and reach their full potential. Implications with a basis in the theories used are presented.

Faktorer som upplevs vara viktiga för en talangutvecklingsmiljö i en idrottsligt framgångsrik längdskidförening / Factors that are perceived as important for a talent development environment in a sportingly successful cross-country ski associationTärnklev, Julius, Kindblad, Wilhelm January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to examine what main factors are perceived as important for the talent development environment in a successful cross-country skiing association. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted with eight participants with different positions within the cross-country ski association. All participants were over 18 years old. The models Athletic Talent Development Environment (ATDE) and The Environment Success Factors (ESF) were used as theoretical frameworks. Using thematic content analysis, the interview results were analyzed, and the results were later divided into the following main themes; the micro-level sports area, micro-level non-sports area, macro level, conditions, process, organizational development and culture, individual development and performance, team performance, and environmental efficiency. The three overarching factors that were perceived as important for a good talent development environment were: To conduct good youth activities with supportive relationships and competent coaches. That sports goals are supported by the environment through the association, family and sports-oriented high schools and universities. To focus on long-term development through a permissive environment and a high degree of autonomy. Future research of interest would have been to study other cross-country skiing environments as well as environments where associations' activities are not conducted in connection with upper secondary school or university / Syftet med studien var att undersöka faktorer som upplevs vara viktiga i en talangutvecklingsmiljö hos en idrottsligt framgångsrik längdskidförening.

En framgångsrik talangutvecklingsmiljö inom golfBlomqvist, Nicholas, Gustafsson, Oskar January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to increase the knowledge of the talent development environment in a successful golf organization and to see how the organization works to create future senior women players in golf. The objectives of the study were twofold; (1) to examine the factors contributing to the environment's effectiveness in developing successful senior women golf players, and (2) examine how the ESF working model is represented in the environment. The study was based on a qualitative thematic analysis. A semi-structured interview guide was created, of which it was inspired by the ESF working model. The participants in the study were nine people involved in the golf organization. These people were considered to have good knowledge of talent development in general and of the golf organization in question. The findings showed that basic prerequisites such as competent coaches and sufficient training opportunities all year around were an essential part of their talent development environment. Furthermore, findings showed that an organizational culture with permeated values within all parties was important. Finally, to create successful senior women players in golf it seems to be important with mixed training groups from an early age.
