Aplicação dos estilos de aprendizagem na formação de equipes: um estudo de caso / Application of the learning styles in team formation: a study of case

Alessandra Aparecida de Freitas 28 September 2007 (has links)
This assignment has as main aim to remark and analyse what is the influence of the learning styles, in other words, the different preferences by noticing and processing the information, in the high-performance teams formation (all the integrated members of the team are committed to the other´s learning, aiming to reach high levels of performance in a subject or proposed activity). With the sense of reaching the proposed aim Felder and Soloman (1988)´s inventories were put into practice and the Keirsey and Bates (1984)´s in a sample of 53 students from the first and fifth grades students of the mechanical production engineering course, from USP- Sao Carlos. From the collected data analysis on, there was an attempt to draw up a profile of the learning styles (dominant) of these students and to correlate them with the usage of the team work in three different formations (randomly, homogeneous and heterogeneous) with educational strategy aiming improvements on teaching/learning, according to the rules established by the theory. Besides, a wide bibliographical review was carried out which included studies about the learning styles and the team work techniques, their benefits and difficulties. So, it was possible to observe and analyze the influences of the knowledge of the learning styles in the teams formation using as a parameter the students´performance on the subject approaches to the problems identification in mechanical production engineering. The research is characterized as exploratory and descriptive, by doing situation descriptions, aiming to find out the existing relations (influences) among the component members of it, and by exploring the previously quoted matter. For the theoretical-empirical research, some questions were put into practice in the data collection, where there was an attempt to check the participants perception in relation to the teams formation and roles delegation. Considering these results it was possible to do the analysis and correlation among the researched variables. As a general rule, it was noticed in the results that, the knowledge of the learning styles eased the teams formation once the self- knowledge given by tests allowed bigger difficulties comprehension of some teams and a consequent pupil and docent intervention aiming a wider use and higher performance in the respective subject.

"Cuidando de quem cuida - notas cartográficas de uma intervenção institucional na montagem de uma equipe de saúde como engenhoca-mutante para produção de vida" / Taking care of who cares – Cartographic notes of an institutional intervention in health care team building as a changing device for life production.

Cinira Magali Fortuna 19 December 2003 (has links)
This is a cartographic research presenting institutional analysis and intervention produced with health professionals at a Basic Health Care Unit in the city of Ribeirão Preto, where there also are Family Health Care Program professionals. It is an invitation for taking the reader to a different future, multiplying senses, searching for "line" and "between-the-line" meaning. It attempts to outline molar, molecular, and escape production, "landmarks" surrounding the work produced within the unit and health care team production as to such routine. The methodological theoretical reference used is based on institutionalist writers, especially the schizoanalytical line. The method is bricolage, where a number of objects, ideas, text passages from writers with different theoretical guidance are placed together with no permanence or totality purpose: it is a performance with rhythm, color, and intensity produced upon researching/intervening. The analysis/intervention aims at producing self-analysis and self-management, professionals analyzing their work and lives, creating their own processes, and building their own responses. The analysis/intervention started as professionals asked for help with their relationships as they were not "getting along well" since the Family Health Care team arrived at the Unit. We has weekly team meetings, mornings and afternoons, in order to facilitate professional volunteer participation. Team meetings were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed. Team work is defined as a machine to be mounted unmounting totalization and large-team-family references, scraping record and control surfaces. The team is a mixture that does not blend, complete inclusion of difference, a net of institutions defines, according to Baremblitt (1994), as a set of said and unsaid rules and regulations that regulate people behavior. The thesis we advocate is that the team needs to be built as a changing device where know`s and do`s articulation takes place for different care production for users and families as they have different needs. The changing device term: a permanent production that may be managed through external supervision - taking care of who cares. We have built three analysis territories: Agenda, Paranoia, and Learning. We search for boundaries, atmospheres, lightness, pain, affection for each territory... Agenda brings the way professional relationships are among themselves and the population for including or excluding users to/from service. Health work unexpectation make professionals look for certainties, logic in the number of positions for medical professional, and it also provides several work outlines and standards. Paranoia outlines professional relationship, provides resistance to modification, and team crises. Learning brings team transversal possibilities through meeting health care community agents, team learning about itself, the work, and the analysis/intervention team.

Team Collective Intelligence - Theory, Validation And Applicability

Goyal, Ajay Kumar 09 1900 (has links) (PDF)
It is very critical to understand what makes a work team to behave intelligently as individual competencies often don’t convert into the collective competence. Theoretically it has been observed and underlined by many scholars that a group might have a mind of its own which is different from its constituents. Past theories related to this have taken two opposite positions one led by Le Bon emphasizing the compromised capacity of collectives in terms of loss of rationality and the second one led by Durkhiem who has seen the collectives as super-organism. But systematic investigation of phenomena of collective intelligence has not been undertaken in the context of human groups. We took to investigate this problem, starting with theoretical analysis and critical review of literature toward understanding relevant issues and aspects. We primarily reviewed the literature in team innovativeness, learning, team cognition, emotion, structure, process, effectiveness, individual intelligence and collective intelligence. Based upon the understanding thus derived we developed the constructs of collective intelligence, cognitive intelligence, social capital,, and emotional intelligence of teams, and a theoretical model outlining their interrelationships. Four specific objectives set for this research included: 1. To develop a theoretical framework for understanding collective intelligence and relate it to social capital, cognitive intelligence and emotional intelligence 2. To compare the collective intelligence, social capital, cognitive intelligence and emotional intelligence of teams in terms of organizational type, age of the team, gender composition and team function 3. To develop aggregate and segregate structural models to validate the construct of collective intelligence 4. To explore the applicability of structural model in practical setting through qualitative case studies The data was collected from 297 teams. This data was used for scale validation through item analysis and reliability assessment. Measures of four constructs were analyzed for sub-factors identification using principal components analysis. The main analysis included a comparison of collective intelligence, social capital, cognitive intelligence and emotional intelligence across various categories followed by generation of aggregate and segregate structural models for different categories of teams, using the partial least squares (PLS) method of structural equation modeling. Partial least squares analysis supported the proposed theoretical model. For overall structural model results indicated satisfactory internal consistency (reliability), and convergent and discriminant validities (construct validity) of the measures used. All the model estimates of outer as well as inner models showed high significance level indicating the stability of estimates. Finally the R-square values indicating total variance explained, of each latent dependent variable were substantial (i.e. more than 0.30) suggested adequate predictiveness of the model. All these findings indicated that the proposed model of factor structure of team collective intelligence was based upon robust measures and had high predictiveness. For triangulation and assessment of applicability of model case studies were conducted with two teams from two different organizations. The main contributions of this research lie in the development, validation and demonstration of applicability of a model of general ability (collective intelligence) of work teams.

Valentínová, Alexandra January 2014 (has links)
The master thesis is dealing with an analysis of existing working team in the Slovak company Artexe s.r.o. The aim of work is the classification of the chosen team, based on the obtained theoretical knowledge, and the revelation of its weak spots. Theoretical part of the thesis defines the basic terms and clusters the information necessary for the realization of analysis. In the empirical part, the monitored work team is being tested from the point of various critical situations. For the purpose of observation, the method of a questionnaire is used. Altogether, the research consists of four research questionnaires, which monitor problematic dimensions of a team, the need of teambuilding and typical roles of individuals of the team. The results of the analysis serve to reveal problematic spheres and, subsequently, for the proposal of concrete recommendations to achieve more effective functioning of the working team of Artexe company. Collected proposals of solutions come from the related literature and researches of domestic or foreign authors.

The implementation of effective teamwork in rural schools : the case of Luthuli Park Combined School

Mamabolo, Patrick Ramahlape January 2016 (has links)
Thesis (M. Ed. (Curriculum Studies)) -- University of Limpopo, 2016 / Some teamwork in learning are effective and others are not. There are a number of factors or attributes that are needed for the implementation of an effective teamwork. The aim of this study was to describe how learners grapple with the use of teamwork for effective teaching and learning in impoverished rural secondary schools. A case study research design was adopted to gather data. The study was conducted in Luthuli Park Combined School in Limpopo Province. The research participants were learners from this school. The study was oriented in an interpretive paradigm following mixed methods approach. Multiple methods of data collection were used. First, data were collected through individual interviews with learners. Second, questionnaires were distributed to the learners to gather quantitative data. Finally, an observation method was used to collect data such as time management by learners, their behavioural patterns and the way they team themselves in the classroom. The study found that the majority of the learners did not listen to suggestions from their team members; they lacked listening skills. In particular, the study indicated that 46% of the learners listened to each other’s suggestions while 54% reported that they did not listen to each other’s suggestions. The main finding of the study is that teamwork among learners is still problematic. The conditions within the classroom prohibited the effectiveness of teamwork. For example, lack of textbooks, physical resources (chairs, desks, data projectors, et cetera). The findings of the study reveal an indecisive and autocratic mind-set among learners regarding the involvement of teamwork. The study recommends that the implementation of effective teamwork will play a vital role in improving performance of the learners.

Sjuksköterskans upplevelse av den sociala arbetsmiljön inom slutenvård : En litteraturstudie / Nurses´ perceptions of the social work environment in inpatient care : A literature review

Hultemark, Lovis, Jeppsson, Sofia January 2024 (has links)
Background: Social work environment involve perceptions of the culture at a workplace. There are multiple factors that contribute to the social work environment, for example social interactions, cooperation and support from colleagues and managers. It can be mentally taxing to meet severe ill patients and their relatives. The mental strain can result in stress and continue to fatigue. Physical issues such as muscle tension could be associated with psychological strains. Aim: The literature review aims to investigate nurses´ perceptions of the social work environment in inpatient care. Method: A literature review was conducted with qualitative empirical studies. The articles were gathered from Cinahl and Pubmed which are databases for nursing and medicine. The literature study was based on 10 studies without any geographical limitations. Result: The result produced two main categories: High workload and Relationship among colleagues. Seven subcategories emerged from these. Conclusion: High workload related to too many patients in relation to the amount of nurses could lead to both physical and psychological strains. Crucial for a positive work culture is to have a supportive manager and good relationship with colleagues. The social work environment is important for the nurse to be able to thrive in the workplace and to conduct good care.

Managers' perceptions of the relationship between spirituality and work performance

Honiball, George Frederick 31 May 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine managers' perceptions of the relationship between spirituality and work performance. The sample consisted of twelve senior managers from different organisations. Semi structured interviews were used to gather the data. The data was qualitatively analysed and themes were identified. The findings indicated that spirituality promotes the healthy development of individuals by assisting with their own self-awareness, helping them find inner peace and dealing with stress and depression. Respondents also felt that spirituality enhances teamwork and redefines the concept of success in terms of engaging in competition, having unselfish motives and encouraging honesty. Based on the findings, recommendations were made for practice and for future research. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial Psychology)
