Lundmark, Madeleine, Österberg, Sara January 2018 (has links)
The subject for this thesis stems from the recent world events, were Sweden has received its largest number of refugees and asylum seekers since World War II. At the same time integration policies all over Europe are getting stricter. People are concerned about the increasingly normalizing racist discourse in public debate. A cornerstone in an open and democratic society like Sweden is equal treatment and how we talk about each other effects how we treat each other. Hence great importance lies in the portrayal of all social groups, such as refugees. Using discourse as a unit - both as a theory and a method this thesis examine and analyze how refugees are represented in the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter (DN). The thesis focuses on eight articles from the time period between January-April before the parliamentary elections in September 2014 and 2018. Questions were asked about how refugees are portrayed in DN and what differences and similarities could be identified between the time periods. With the help from theories concerning representation and agenda-setting the empirical analysis indicate similarities between the time periods regarding the representation of refugees. Differences was found in the portrayal of people from different places and how they were put in contradiction to each other. To deepen the analysis of the empirical material and to understand the textual discourses in the articles the thesis uses previous research, both international and national concerning the coverage of refugees.

Pohled rodin dětí 1. stupně ZŠ na problematiku šikany / Bullying from the perspective of families of children at 1st grade elementary school.

VIKTOROVÁ, Šárka January 2017 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with parents view on the issue of bullying. Special attention is specifically paid to parents of children, having real experience with bullying. First is defined concept of bullying in the theoretical part of dissertation. Another chapter deals with the main protagonists of bullying and special attention is paid to the causes leading to the bullying occurrence. There are also taken into account warning signals of the victims and aggressors, which can be recognized and can warn parents and teachers. Finally there is a part concerning to the solution of this big problem both at school and at home. The theoretic part also discusses the possible consequences, that the problem is ignored. Last chapter is about the prevention at school and at home. The main focus of the research part is to find out, how parents of the bullied children look at this problematics. Quality research based on semi-structured interviews has shown that most respondents didn´t note warning signs. It can be due to the fact, that parents don´t have enough time for children at the present time and don´t also pay them enough attention. They learned about the bullying problem from other sources and they began more interested in communication with children after discovering of problems. They argue for opinion, that family don´t have an impact on bullying and they suppose the main reason is the temperament of the child. The research has also shown parents dissatisfaction with access of schools to this problem.

The new writing of violence : the stakes of mutation in francophone africain literature since 1980

Kabuya Ngoie, Salomon Ramcy 28 June 2014 (has links)
"Novelty" and "violence»! These two notions are recurrent in the comments about Francophone African literatures. They are at the heart of all its historiography since some decades now. One can hardly speak of Amadou Kourouma , Sony Labou Tansi, Sami Tchak or Jean-Luc Raharimana without arises the question of novelty and, at the same time , that of violence in or of scripture. But this evidence, this raw truth deserves to be examined in order to know exactly what novelty and violence return. If they can be addressed independently, it is their confrontation, with writing as a meeting point, which appears concrete elements for literary history. Indeed, studying them together, this thesis tries to see to what extent they imply one and the other. Therefore, after evaluating the concepts of novelty, out in the field of Francophone African literature, we relied on four authors whose aesthetic and trajectories are representative of major trends in the writings of violence. They suggest policy all changes over the years. From the overall Sony Labou Tansi’s writing, to writing game Edem Awumey, through the rehashing of Kossi Efoui and Theo Ananissoh’s minimalism, it is possible to monitor the introduction of new forms of writing and to find the gateway to new models of representation.

Les violences conjugales : étude comparative entre Liban, France et Canada / Conjugal violence : comparative study between Lebanon, France and Canada

Nasr, Roula 09 June 2009 (has links)
If some forms of silence are today the center of attention, other forms such as conjugal violence remain unrevealed and are often considered as private problems. Men violence is affecting fundamental rights in particular the right of liberty and security. Conjugal violence, whatever its forms are, presents some constants. This type of violence is found in oriental and occidental societies but the context differs. If conjugal violence in oriental societies particularly in Lebanon reflects the patriarchy and the social reproduction and the family inheritance, it also shows that the law and the civil codes are in favor of men. The conjugal violence existing in the occidental societies are related to psychological affects and family separations and family problems. In all Middle – Eastern countries like Lebanon, women do not benefit completely from their civil citizenship. They are despoiled of rights, and privileges and security guarantee that they should have access to. Inequitable laws, discriminatory constitutions and cultural prejudice that doesn’t take the woman as an equal citizen, hinder their participation in politics and limit to the women’s economic security going from mobility to social welfare. Unlike the occidental context where the individual unites the base of the country like in France and Canada, family constitutes the base of Arab countries. They tend to confirm that conjugal violence like any form of violence escapes from any social nominations. This violence exists in all societies and even in the most favored regions. And it also exists in all social categories.A cross-cultural approach of this phenomenon is necessary. Factors such as religion or migration launch or justify such type of violence. Psychosocial analysis of several studies made about conjugal violence unveil the latent and the hidden secrets of violent men and abused women.

Van den Berg, Christina Elizabeth 11 1900 (has links)
This desertion is an attempt to present, from a Penological perspective, a theoretical fundamental exposition regarding restitution to the victim of crime. The purpose of this study was to, through research, gain insight and knowledge with regard to the question of victim compensation and more specific restitution as victim compensation. The dissertation comprises a description of victim compensation from the earliest of times, which can be seen as the historical development of victim compensation, until the time period that criminal law finds itself in today. Restitution systems of Britain, the United States of America and five European countries are discussed. The Republic of South Africa does not possess a Compensation or restitution system to compensate victims and therefore only the status of the victim in the criminal process is discussed. During the study of different countries's restitution systems there could, not even in the European Union, agreement be found with regard to the extent of restitution to the victim of crime. In all of the countries studied, the purposes why restitution were emplaced were the same, namely that the traditional punishment process, where under imprisonment and under supervision, failed in their attempts to accommodate the victim of crime. Research came to the conclusion that, taken against the bad position that the victim of crime in South Africa holds, the emplacement of a restitution system have become a necessity. The system should function from the under supervisory department with the supervisory officials as collectors of restitution and which could also act as mediators. Recommendations are done for the implementation of a central victim compensation fund.· / Sociology / D. Litt. et Phil. (Penologie)

L’enfant et la violence dans le roman africain de l’ère postcoloniale / The child and violence in the African novel of the postcolonial era

Adjadji, Anani Guy 26 April 2018 (has links)
Violence, war, poverty and precariousness are typical terms, which are repeatedly present in different discourses about the African continent, be it in the media or in the social sphere. In literature, these expressions also dominate the publications of both the colonial and the post-colonial era. Therefore, this work has the main objective of analysing the portrayal of postcolonial violence in selected works published by African French-speaking authors, but without taking into account the figure of the dictator. It emphasizes the issue of children, most especially child soldiers. Moreover it analyses the narrative methods used by the authors, by means of which a child or teenager becomes the main figure in the context of extreme violence. Two novel publications of Ahmadou Kourouma and one of Emmanuel Dongala form the basis of this dissertation. These are works of two authors who, starting in the year 2000, created new structures in the history of French African literature by their intensive writing about the military use of children. It turned out that in their novels, the voice of a child offers a particular view from the lower class of society on postcolonial violence. In addition, the dissertation establishes a causal relationship between postcolonial and colonial violence.

Kvinnan i brottsmål gällande grov kvinnofridskränkning : En normkritisk studie om hur kvinnan i brottsmål gällande grov kvinnofridskränkning framställs och bedöms i tingsrättsdomar / Woman in criminal cases in violation of a woman's integrity

Venturi, Almina, Niklasson, Emelie January 2018 (has links)
The construction of the woman exposed to violence and how she is produced in the Swedish judiciary is important to understand the view of men's violence against the woman. How the woman exposed to violence in today's context are produced by the judiciary in relation to political and media discussions are also affecting social work and its practice. The aim of the study is to, with a norm critical perspective, highlight how women represented and assessed in Swedish district court judgments. We want to investigate how the woman exposed to violence in close relationships is produced and judged in Swedish courts. The study is based on a qualitative research effort and a discourse analysis has been made of 12 district court judgments from different district courts in Sweden. Through a thematic analysis, three themes became clear: “the district court's perception of the credibility of women”, “the course of events based on women's perspectives” and “the district court's considerations in assessing the crime breach, coarse women's violence”. The chosen theoretical approach that has been used to create an understanding of our research problem is norm critical perspective and the concept of ideal crime victim. The results gave us the conclusion that in Swedish district courts there are norms about how women exposed to violence should behave.

Domácí násilí jako sociální problém okresu České Budějovice / Domestic violence as a social problem in České Budějovice district

ŠÍMOVÁ, Ivana January 2008 (has links)
Violence at home, a.k.a. home violence, is a spiraling cycle of brutality committed in private between closely related persons. Such violence can by physical, psychological, sexual, economic or social, with the roles of the attacker and the victim clearly defined and never changing. Anyone can be exposed to home violence, irrespective of her or his social position, education, job, sex, age, religion, or the type of partnership that people live in. Advanced societies have developed a tendency to tackle the issue, and the awareness of the problem has improved. In our country this favorable development is driven primarily by the newly enacted regulations and the keener interest stirred up in the public. The thesis aimed to investigate the general public awareness of home violence within the District of České Budějovice. As followed from the survey, the public living in the District is well aware of the issue. The results showed that as much as 69% of respondents knew about home violence, while the remaining 31% were ignorant of the problem. Hypothesis: Females are better informed about home violence than males - confirmed by comparison between what the women and the men knew about the issue. The difference encountered, however, was just minor. Hypothesis: People living in the District of České Budějovice are not knowledgeable about changes newly passed in Act 135/200 to solve the problem of violence at home - not confirmed. The majority of respondents heard of the Act and were able to specify at least the essential changes it enacted. The change the respondents mentioned most often was the 10 day period of flat-eviction order. It comes as a matter of interest that males were better aware of the Act and could better quote the changes it introduced. Hypothesis: The public accepts as true that home violence is confined to just problem-ridden families - not confirmed. Eighty seven percent of females and 81% of males were convinced that home violence was not limited to only such families. Merely 13% of females and 19% of males believed the home violence was a matter of the problem-ridden families. The survey results showed that the public living in the District of České Budějovice had dropped this myth, i.e. they had not seen the hypothesis as truthful. The thesis can serve as a source of information for the lay public, as a piece of instruction material for the students of the University of South Bohemia, or it could also be given to the Intervention Center to be distributed among the victims of home violence.
