Sjuknärvaro vid hemarbete : En kvalitativ studie om arbetstagares upplevelse av sjuknärvaro vid hemarbete / Sickness presenteeism while working from home

I och med de restriktioner som Covid-19-pandemin medförde blev hemarbete ett nytt arbetssätt för många arbetstagare i Sverige. Forskning som vi tagit del av beskriver att sjukfrånvaro i organisationer minskar samtidigt som mörkertalet gällande sjuknärvaro är stort, vilket skapade intresset för denna studie. Forskning kring sjuknärvaro fokuserar på den fysiska arbetsplatsen och inte vid hemarbete som nu är ett vedertaget arbetssätt i Sverige. Denna studie syftar till att skapa förståelse för hur arbetstagare upplever sjuknärvaro vid hemarbete samt hur den upplevda arbetskvaliteten påverkar valet att sjuknärvara. Samtliga arbetstagare inom en organisation som tillhandahåller både produkter och tjänster inom den privata sektorn ombads besvara en enkät och åtta respondenter har intervjuats i semistrukturerade intervjuer. Samtliga intervjuer har tematiserats och analyserats vilket har lett fram till resultatet av denna studie. Resultatet visar att sjuknärvaro i hemarbete förekommer i hög grad och tillgängligheten som arbetssättet innebär ökar anställdas val att sjuknärvara. Valet att sjuknärvara tas speciellt då arbetstagarna upplever hög arbetsbelastning, lojalitet mot kollegor samt arbetsgivare och ur ekonomiska aspekter. Arbetstagare upplever att sjuknärvaron har en negativ påverkan på effektiviteten då arbetstempot inte sker i samma takt, samt fler pauser behövs för att klara av att arbeta sjuk vid hemarbete. Genom att arbeta med arbetskvalitet och tillgodose de behov arbetstagare har för att uppleva en god arbetskvalitet menar författarna av denna studie att sjuknärvaro kan förebyggas. / With the restrictions imposed by Covid-19-pandemic, work from home (WFH) became a new method of working for many employees in Sweden. The research we have found describes that sickness absence in organizations is decreasing, but the prevalence of sickness presenteeism is still unknown, which created the interest for our study. Research on sickness presenteeism focuses on the traditional physical workplace and not WFH, which is now an established method in Sweden as a result of the Covid-19-pandemic. This study aims to understand how workers experience sickness presenteeism when working from home and how the perceived quality of work affects the decision to choose such presenteeism. A survey was sent out to all workers in an organization in the private sector, which provides both products and services and eight respondents were interviewed in semi-structured interviews. All the interviews were then thematized and analyzed, leading to the results of this study. The results show that sickness presenteeism in WFH occurs to a high degree, and is perceived by workers as common due to the accessibility of the working method. The choice to work with sickness presenteeism is made especially when employees experience high workload, loyalty to colleagues and employers and from economic aspects. Employees feel that sickness presenteeism has a negative effect on efficiency as they do not work at the same pace, and need to take more breaks to cope with working from home while sick. By working on quality of work and meeting employees' needs to experience good quality of work,the authors of this study argue that sickness presenteeism can be prevented.

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo: Identificar los factores que condicionan el ausentismo laboral de los profesionales de enfermería en el servicio de emergencias. La investigación se justifica porque se identificó al ausentismo en el trabajo como un indicador negativo para el cumplimiento de tareas y en la calidad de los servicios, debido a la interrupción del servicio, aumento de la sobrecarga de trabajo, que afectan en la imagen institucional. La metodología se basó en la Enfermería Basada en Evidencia, (búsqueda sistemática de una respuesta, basada en la investigación). La pregunta clínica fue. ¿Cuáles son los factores determinantes del ausentismo laboral de los profesionales de enfermería en el servicio de emergencias? Las fuentes de información fueron las bases de datos: Google, Scielo, Proquest, Cuiden Plus, Biblioteca Virtual De Salud, Descubridor Unal, se emplearon palabras claves como: Factores determinantes, ausentismo laboral, enfermeras y emergencias. Se seleccionó 09 artículos de investigación relacionadas al ausentismo laboral se aplicó la Guía de Validez y utilidad Aparente de Gálvez Toro, se seleccionó un estudio y para su evaluación se empleó la lista de validación de Astete. El estudio seleccionado dio respuesta que los factores: Condiciones de trabajo y contenido del trabajo son determinantes del ausentismo laboral. / The objective of this research is: Identify the factors that determine the work absenteeism of nursing professionals in the emergency service. The research is justified because absenteeism at work was identified as a negative indicator for the fulfillment of tasks and the quality of services, due to the interruption of service, increased work overload, which affects the institutional image. The methodology was based on Evidence-Based Nursing (systematic search for an answer, based on research). The clinical question was. What are the determining factors of work absenteeism of nursing professionals in the emergency service? The sources of information were the databases: Google, Scielo, Proquest, Cuiden Plus, Biblioteca Virtual De Salud, Descubridor Unal, keywords were used such as: Determining factors, work absenteeism, nurses and emergencies. 09 research articles related to work absenteeism were selected, the Validity and Apparent Utility Guide of Gálvez Toro was applied, one study was selected and the Astete validation list was used for its evaluation. The selected study answered that the factors: Working conditions and work contentare determinants ofwork absenteeism.

“Ni kan kalla oss hemmakämpare” : En kvalitativ studie om unga vuxnas erfarenheter och upplevelser från tiden med problematisk skolfrånvaro

Syftet med studien var att studera unga vuxnas erfarenheter och upplevelser från tiden med en problematisk skolfrånvaro, med ambition att skapa en djupare förståelse för orsakerna till beteendet och eventuella konsekvenser, såväl som framgångsfaktorer och eventuella brister inom området. Vi har använt oss av en kvalitativ forskningsmetod där datainsamlingen har skett genom semistrukturerade intervjuer med nio informanter. Fem av dessa var unga vuxna i ålder 18–26 år med egen erfarenhet av problematisk skolfrånvaro, och fyra informanter var föräldrar till individer med nuvarande eller tidigare erfarenhet av problematisk skolfrånvaro. Vår empiri bearbetades med hjälp av tematisk analys och resultatet analyserades med stöd av Protection Motivation Theory, det salutogena perspektivet genom KASAM och det relationella perspektivet. Resultatet visar att det finns flera olika orsaker till individernas problematiska skolfrånvaro och att orsakerna många gånger inkluderar olika aspekter: individuella, familjerelaterade och skolrelaterade. Aspekter som ofta samverkar. Studien visar att det är viktigt med tidiga, individuella anpassningar och samverkan för att motverka en problematisk skolfrånvaro. Med distans till den tid då den problematiska skolfrånvaron började, vittnar samtliga informanter i studien om att deras historia hade kunnat utvecklats annorlunda om skolan, hemmet eller samhället hade agerat tidigare och/eller annorlunda. / The aim of this study was to examine the experiences and perceptions of young adults during a period of problematic school absenteeism, with the ambition of gaining a deeper understanding of the causes of the behavior and potential consequences, as well as success factors and potential shortcomings in the area. We have utilized a qualitative research method where data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews with nine informants. Five of these were young adults aged 18–26 with personal experience of problematic school absenteeism, and four informants were parents of individuals with current or previous experience of problematic school absenteeism. Our empirical data was processed using thematic analysis and the results were analyzed with the support of Protection Motivation Theory, the salutogenic perspective thru sense of coherence and the relational perspective. The results shows that there are several different causes of the individuals' problematic school absenteeism, often involving various aspects: individual, family-related, and school-related, which often interact. The study also shows that it is important to have early, individualized adjustments and collaboration to counteract problematic school absenteeism. With distance from when the problematic school absenteeism began, all informants in the study testify that their history could have developed differently if the school, home, or society had acted earlier and/or differently.

A study of the relationship between a participatory management model and selected variables

The purpose of this study was to explore the participatory management system used by the Tulsa Public Schools in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Due to the size of the system and interest of the researcher, the middle schools were chosen as the units for investigation. A total of 535 (82%) of the teachers in the 17 middle schools responded to the survey. The major variables investigated were participatory management, job satisfaction, job-related tension, intention-to-leave the school or the profession, absenteeism, sex, and years of experience. Additional observations were made which were used as supporting qualitative data. The data were analyzed by using several statistical procedures: mean scores, analysis of variance, Pearson product-moment correlations, and t-tests. The findings not only confirmed participatory management to be the perceived mode of middle school governance in this system but determined that this management style was related to the majority of variables in the study. When the variables were analyzed separately, it was found that, in general, teachers were satisfied with their job, rarely felt tension related to their job, infrequently considered leaving their school or the profession, and maintained a high attendance rate. When these variables were examined in conjunction with participatory management, the variables of teacher job satisfaction and job-related tension were found to be correlated positively with teachers' perceptions of shared governance. In addition, teacher intent to leave and teacher absenteeism were lower when greater participation in the school's management was perceived. However, the sex of the teacher and the years of experience had no relationship with teachers perceived degree of involvement in the decision-making process. It can be concluded that participatory management practices may enhance teacher attitudes as noted by the analysis of the variables investigated in this study. Future research is needed to substantiate further these results by comparing the management system used by the Tulsa Public Schools with other educational systems throughout the nation. / Ed. Entre las diversas variables que permiten entender el comportamiento organizacional, se encuentran la personalidad y la satisfacción laboral, debido a que, son útiles predictores para evitar problemáticas como el ausentismo laboral, la baja productividad, el clima laboral inadecuado, entre otros; por lo que, esta investigación tiene como objetivo general, el determinar la correlación entre la personalidad y satisfacción laboral, y como objetivos específicos, identificar las dimensiones de personalidad, identificar las dimensiones de personalidad predominantes según variables sociodemográficas, identificar el nivel de satisfacción laboral general, identificar los niveles de satisfacción laboral general predominantes según variables sociodemográficas e identificar la correlación entre las dimensiones de personalidad y satisfacción laboral general en 96 colaboradores de un grupo empresarial en Chiclayo, mediante el inventario de personalidad de Eysenck y Eysenck Forma “B” (EPI-B), con validez de 0.80 y confiabilidad de 0.84 y 0.87, y la escala de satisfacción laboral SL-SPC, con validez establecida por análisis factorial y confiabilidad de 0.84 y 0.81. Por lo que, es un trabajo no experimental de tipo descriptivo correlacional. Esperando obtener como resultados que la dimensión Extroversión se relacione positiva y significativamente con satisfacción laboral y que Neuroticismo presente una correlación negativa y significativa con satisfacción laboral. / Among the various variables that allow us to understand organizational behavior, are personality and job satisfaction, because they are useful predictors to avoid problems such as absenteeism, low productivity, inadequate work environment, among others; Therefore, this research has as a general objective, to determine the correlation between personality and job satisfaction, and as specific objectives, to identify the personality dimensions, to identify the predominant personality dimensions according to sociodemographic variables, to identify the level of general job satisfaction , to identify the predominant levels of general job satisfaction according to sociodemographic variables and to identify the correlation between the dimensions of personality and general job satisfaction in 96 employees of a business group in Chiclayo, through the Eysenck and Eysenck Form “B” personality inventory (EPI-B), with a validity of 0.80 and reliability of 0.84 and 0.87, and the job satisfaction scale SL-SPC, with validity established by factorial analysis and reliability of 0.84 and 0.81. Therefore, it is a non-experimental work of correlational descriptive type. Hoping to obtain as results that the Extraversion dimension is positively and significantly related to job satisfaction and that Neuroticism presents a negative and significant correlation with job satisfaction.

The purpose of this essay is to examine problematic school absenteeism in today's Sweden from the principal's perspective. The questions asked are, does a principal take full responsibility for students with problematic school absenteeism or does the principal abdicate responsibility, and if so, how? How do existing guidelines affect the principal's work with problematic school absences? How does the principal practically ensure that a student with problematic school absences can make the most of his education? To answer the questions, eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with principals at municipal primary schools in a western Swedish county. Previous research shows that New Public Management can create benefits with the right structural context. Unclear guidelines affect the principal's work with problematic school absences. Furthermore, it shows the importance of the principal's role. The analysis method was based on hermeneutic interpretation of meaning with a starting point in Foucault's regulatory power, Rose's reasoning about exclusion and Bornemark's over bureaucratization (förpappring). The result shows a complex context, where the principal is negatively affected by existing administrative guidelines. The complexity also consists of a functioning collaboration with the home. Finally, an individual commitment is needed by the principal in order for pupils with problematic school absences to have access to their education. / Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka problematisk skolfrånvaro i dagens Sverige ur ett rektorsperspektiv. Detta genom att besvara följande frågeställningar, tar en rektor fullt ansvar för elever med problematisk skolfrånvaro eller avsäger sig rektorn ansvar och i så fall hur? Hur påverkar existerande riktlinjer rektorns arbete med problematisk skolfrånvaro? Hur säkerställer rektorn praktiskt att en elev med problematisk skolfrånvaro kan tillgodogöra sig sin utbildning?För att besvara frågeställningarna genomfördes åtta semistrukturerade intervjuer med rektorer på kommunala grundskolor i ett västsvenskt län. Tidigare forskning visar att New Public Management kan skapa nytta med rätt strukturell kontext. Otydliga riktlinjer påverkar rektorns arbete med problematisk skolfrånvaro. Dessutom visar det på vikten av huvudmannens roll. Analysmetoden utgick från hermeneutisk meningstolkning med utgångspunkt i Foucaults reglerande makt, Roses resonemang om exkludering och Bornemarks överbyråkratisering (förpappring). Resultatet visar på en komplex kontext, där rektorn påverkas negativt av befintliga administrativa riktlinjer. Komplexiteten utgörs också av behovet av ett fungerande samarbete med hemmet. Slutligen krävs ett individuellt engagemang från rektorn för att elever med problematisk skolfrånvaro ska få tillgång till sin utbildning.

The main purpose of this study was to determine the management of the phenomenon of learners’ partial absenteeism and late coming at four public secondary schools of the Tshwane West (D15), in the light of the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) Circular 13 of 2002. Respondents targeted for data collection were members of the School Management Teams (SMTs) of the four public secondary schools (n35). To address the initial propositions of this study, a qualitative case study research design and its techniques for data collection and analysis were used. The emergent findings indicated that: absenteeism during school hours (partial absenteeism) and late coming, which also applies to educators, are rife across the four participating public schools. SMT members’ limited knowledge of school management in general, and the GDE’s Circular 13 in particular, were found to be the main barrier to the effective management of partial absenteeism and late coming. Additional contributory factors were learner’s attitude and conduct and poor school infrastructure.
