Social networking : a psycho-educational analysis of online adolescent friendshipsDavel, Coriena 11 1900 (has links)
Online adolescent friendships and social networking among adolescents are current phenomena that have emerged, and exploded, as part of the digital age and the vast development of communication technologies. The primary aim of this study was to gain knowledge and understanding regarding the nature and quality of online friendships and social networking among adolescents. A sequential explanatory mixed method design, was put to use for the purpose of this study. The quantitative data was collected first in the form of a short survey, by utilising a self-developed questionnaire to obtain a general overview of the social network practices and the forming and maintaining of online friendships among adolescents. Twenty five participants took part in the survey. This study was followed by a qualitative study in the form of interviews, to clarify, elaborate and explain the quantitative findings. Five information rich participants were interviewed. The findings of the empirical investigation revealed that adolescents, being part of the Net Generation, base their concept of socialising with friends on digital and communication technology, especially cell phones. They are connected to their friends 24 hours a day. The sense of safety and support they experience through this constant connectedness strengthens their self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth and contributes to their identity formation. It is therefore recommended that parents and educators should accept that adolescents live in a virtual world and their new way of socialising, needs to be acknowledged. Parents and educators should adjust accordingly, by getting educated in this field themselves. The Net Generation is a generation who focuses on relationships and collaboration through technology and this should be exploited by anybody who has contact or interacts with the adolescent of today. / Psychology of Education / M. La société européenne de la connaissance : Une restructuration du processus d'intégration / The European Knowledge Society : a restructuring of the integration processFressoz, Xavier 29 September 2017 (has links)
Since the European Council of Lisbon in 2000, the European Union tends to become a knowledge society leader in the world competition. It enriches and structures its ressources of diversity and creativity by generating a renewal of its integration method around a bottom-up approach. It stimulates too a decompartmentalization of all the socio-economic sectors to free all the innovation potentials. So, a network society appears thanks to the development of regional actors and a public-private connivance. But, the legal evolutions need to get the adhesion of the citizens. That’s why, in addition to the policies of education, research and innovation, the European Union fosters synergies with the domains of employment, youth and culture. All these transitions trigger a search of global coherence to guarantee the competitiveness and the sustainability of the European model of knowledge society. To reach these goals, the European law finds its coherence by articulating the notions of active welfare State, meritocracy and democratization.

Previous issue date: 2009-09-18 / The objective of this work is to describe behaviors and experiences of the Internet users according to observations made during the coordination of the NPPI Núcleo de Pesquisas da Psicologia em Informática (Center for Psychological Research about Informatics), which is part of the Clinical School of the Psychology Department at PUC-SP. The behaviors and situations described were qualitatively analyzed having the concepts of Analytical Psychology as a reference. The work starts with a revision of the material that has been published about the Internet and its developments, and this material comes from different psychological schools. Many publications from other areas are listed (philosophy, sociology, etc), since they also study the psychological factors that are present in the analysis of the Internet usage. A few Jungian works related to the topic are presented as well. A brief summary about the creation and development of computers and the Web and their effects on the relationship man machine is used to examine the relationship between the evolution of new technologies and the development of consciousness considered as processes that occur synchronically. The fifth chapter presents concepts and ideas proposed about the cyberspace as a psychic space. After that, it discusses the notion of a virtual body and presents examples about the presence of the images related to technology in dreams that people have nowadays. The cyberspace is occupied by the internauts who use it as a stage for expressing conflicts, as well as a place for experimenting with new forms for structuring the subjectivity and for establishing relationships and connections. On the other hand, we also notice attempts to create new forms of knowledge, through the use of resources and tools that allow for activities in group and that are offered by the communication made possible through informatization.

Electronic Commerce on the Internet is controlled essentially by private actors, most of them companies and business associations of the economic sectors related to information and communication tecnologies (ICT). These actors, sometimes like true authorities, use their power on the electronic markets trough normative frameworks and technical standards allowing them to establish the rules of infrastructures, code and content of the Internet. Public authorities, especially in the United States, have offered the private sector their acquiescence and suport in order to control the power structures of the cyberspace. This control has reduced the risks threatening the expansion of the electronic markets, but at the same time it has contributed to the transformation of the Internet, so that a predominantly public, open, free and cheap space is becoming a predominantly private, restricted, controlled and expensive space.

Ignatius Loyola and the internet : insights from Ignatian spirituality on the use of the internet for evangelisation.Pollitt, Russell Edward. January 2008 (has links)
The internet has brought about a revolution in human communication, unparalleled, because of its ability to communicate instantaneously across the globe. It has transformed our culture and made, what seemed impossible, now achievable with the click of a mouse, from an office in a city or in the comfort of your lounge. The computer networks we use are far more than a means of communication. They are agents of social change. I try to analyse what impact the electronic media have on human worldview and behaviour. I highlight some of the challenges that electronic media pose: we are not sure how these media (and technologies) will continue to shape our lives as they develop at a rapid pace. Jesus of Nazareth spent his incarnate life proclaiming the reign of God and, in doing so, invited humanity into a relationship with God. He commissioned his disciples and, the whole Church in all time, to continue his proclamation of Good News. In obedience to his command the Church has, throughout history, used the communication technologies at her disposal to carry out this command. The internet makes another technology available to the Church. In this thesis I attempt to better understand the impact of communication technologies, specifically the internet, on the Church. I look at the relationship between the Church and mass media. I analyse how the Catholic Church has responded to the advent of the internet and, how the internet has been used for the task of evangelisation. I investigate some of the key documents of the Church on the means of Social Communication, focusing especially on those of the Second Vatican Council, in order to understand how the Church understands and perceives the media. Using the spirituality of St. Ignatius Loyola I offer an Ignatian Communications Model to help the Church use the internet more effectively for evangelisation. St. Ignatius lived in a time when another communication revolution took place: the advent of the Gutenberg printing press. I show how, using his spirituality, the Church can better use the internet for the task of evangelisation. / Thesis (M.Th.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, 2008.

Modelagem do prognóstico e gestão da saúde de máquinas mecânicas no contexto de sistemas ciberfísicos na manufatura / Prognostics and health management modelling of mechanical machines in the context of cyber-physical systems in mnufacturingNunez, David Lira 14 September 2017 (has links)
Recent advances in smart manufacturing open up opportunities in industrial support, specifically in maintenance and physical asset management. This trend allows data collected from machines, when are in full operation, to interact with cyberspace computers through a communication network, thus forming the concept of cyber-physical systems (CPS). Besides, rapid advances in information and communications technologies provide tools for analysing data, in an increasingly rapid, autonomously, ubiquitous and in real time way, providing information that assists humans in making better decisions. In this sense, Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) of machines, is indicated as a promising application of Smart Manufacturing in the CPS contexto. Currently the PHM proposals found in the scientific literature are applied to specific cases and without a standardization of their implementation, preventing such approaches from being replicated in different manufacturing scenarios. Thus, the present work proposes the construction of an ontological model to assist in the implementation of the PHM in several manufacturing scenarios, to be harnessed in the future by software tools focused on intelligent manufacturing, standardizing their concepts, terms, and the form of data collection and processing. The DSR (Design Science Research) methodological approach is used to guide the development of the research. The construction of this ontological model, which integrates both the collected data and the necessary information for the decision making, allows the control of the estimate of a failure before it occurs in a more autonomous way. The main results of the ontological model are: a flexible ontology capable of being used on several types of mechanical machines of various types of manufacturing; the possibility of storing the knowledge contained in international standards, machine history of activities, and consolidated architectures in the context of the PHM, allows the constant updating of data depending on particularities that each productive process can contain, and finally, using the SPARQL language, it is given information that can be used for decisionmaking in timely maintenance interventions in the equipment of a real industry. The model is demonstrated considering the case of a centrifugal pump that proved its fidelity, integrity, level of detail, robustness and consistency, providing information previously fed by real data obtained in nearby companies.
