Cette recherche s’appuie sur un catalogue de portails exécutés conformément aux modèles imprimés dans le Livre extraordinaire de Sebastiano Serlio et dans les autres livres de son traité. L’analyse de ces réalisations, souvent anonymes, nous permet de comprendre comment ces modèles ont été filtrés par le savoir faire et les traditions caractérisant la zone où ils ont été réalisés.Nous avons choisi ces modèles car à la Renaissance le traité de Sebastiano Serlio, architecte et théoricien bolonais, compte parmi les principales initiatives éditoriales en matière d’architecture. Dans son Livre IV, l’auteur présente les cinq ordres d’architecture d’une manière systématique et intelligible : des dessins s’accompagnent de légendes précisant des mesures, en témoignant d’un rapport équilibré entre texte et image. Le Livre extraordinaire, venu s’ajouter ultérieurement au programme, est consacré aux portes. Le langage ornemental de ces inventions fantaisistes dénote une plus grande liberté par rapport aux règles de Vitruve. La présente recherche s’efforce d’éclaircir l’éventuel processus de migration de prototypes serliens moyennant l’étude des portails issus du traité de notre architecte. Afin d’analyser de telles assimilations, nous proposons de mettre en parallèle des exemples en France, en Allemagne et en Italie. Pour ce faire, nous avons choisi trois régions périphériques de ces pays, politiquement et économiquement indépendantes du pouvoir centralisé de la cour du souverain : la Lorraine, la zone autour de la rivière Weser et la Sicile pour, respectivement, la France, l’Allemagne et l’Italie. / This research is based on a catalogue of portals which have been built following the models printed in the Extraordinary book by Sebastiano Serlio and in other books of his treatise. The analysis of these often anonymous creations shows us how these models have been filtered by the expertise typical of the area where they’ve been built and its customs. We chose these models because, during the Renaissance, the treatise by Sebastiano Serlio, Bolognese architect and theorist, constitutes one of the most important editorial initiatives in matter of architecture. Thanks to his experiences in Bologna, his hometown, in Rome, in Venice and at the court of François I since 1541, Serlio gets skilled in composing ancient models and Italian Renaissance models with local traditions. In his Book IV, the author presents the five architectonic orders in a systematic and intelligible way : each drawing has a legend explaining measures and sizes, showing a balanced relation between text and image. The Extraordinary book, which was later added to Serlio’s program, is dedicated to portals. The decorative language of these imaginative inventions proves a bigger freedom in relation to Vitruvio’s rules. This work tries to illustrate certain migrations of Serlio’s prototypes through the study of portals built basing on his treatise. In order to analyze such assimilations, we propose a comparison of examples from France, Germany and Italy. To do such a thing, we have chosen three peripheral regions in each of these three countries, politically and economically independent from the central power of the sovereign’s court : Lorraine, in France, the area along the river Weser, in Germany, and Sicily, in Italy.

"Book People: Evangelical Books and the Making of Contemporary Evangelicalism" traces the conjoined histories of evangelical Christianity and evangelical book culture in the United States. Although existing studies of religion, media, and business have explored evangelical print culture in the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries, historians rarely have lent their attention to the century that intervenes. Addressing this historiographic silence, this dissertation's chapters move from the end of the nineteenth century to the present. These chapters center their narrative on the middle decades of this period, when ministerial and entrepreneurial evangelicals increasingly turned to books not only as tools of cultural and theological discipline but also as commercial opportunities. By the end of the century, the marketplace had molded evangelicalism into a constituency that everyone from ministers to scholars to politicians to suburban shoppers to international media conglomerates regularly imagined, addressed, and invoked. Drawing on such archival sources as business records, meeting minutes, advertisements, editorial correspondence, marketing plans, sermon collections, and interviews, "Book People" illustrates how contemporary evangelicalism and the contemporary evangelical book industry helped bring each other into being.

A presente tese visa analisar e compreender as relações entre os textos e as imagens contidas no livro didático de autoria de Antonio José Borges Hermida Compêndio de História do Brasil, editado pela Companhia Editora Nacional entre os anos de 1962 e 1975, sendo estas relações reveladoras de um discurso de determinado conhecimento histórico. Para este trabalho foi realizado estudo bibliográfico sobre a história da disciplina de História, a cultura escolar e o contexto político para a sustentação das análises de produção, editoração e circulação do livro, em todas as suas 60 edições, como suporte mercadológico, ideológico e cultural. O Compêndio de História do Brasil, de Borges Hermida, foi aqui analisado como um produto industrial e em sua condição de fonte a ser estudada para a compreensão de parte de uma História da Educação e da História do Ensino de História, assim como para entendimento e estudo de uma História do Livro (didático). O livro, como produto de uma indústria cultural, é fruto da intervenção de diversos sujeitos e autores e um elemento material de conceito complexo, devendo ser também concebido como corpo documental histórico; o nome de seu autor, embora este não se faça presente em todas as suas etapas de formação e produção, deve servir como atrativo comercial em uma perspectiva de maiores vendagens. O discurso historiográfico do autor, expresso pelo texto escrito, é ponto crucial da análise, assim como as imagens utilizadas nos diversos contextos. Além do conteúdo histórico divulgado através dos textos e das imagens, também foram objeto de análise as suas características formais representadas pela forma de sua organização, tipografia e editoração, entendidas como partes integrantes do discurso histórico e didático estabelecido pela obra. As análises dos elementos editoriais e historiográficos possibilitaram uma melhor compreensão da constituição dos diálogos entre o texto e as imagens divulgadas pelo livro como um produto material. O Compêndio, por largo período de tempo, foi o difusor de um conhecimento e de determinado discurso histórico expresso em suas páginas através do trabalho de diversos profissionais da área editorial, das imagens que reproduzem o trabalho de dezenas de pintores e desenhistas e, principalmente, através das palavras de seu autor, Antônio José Borges Hermida. / This thesis aims to make an analysis and understanding the relations between texts and the images contained in didactic book written by Antonio Jose Borges Hermida, Compêndio de História do Brasil, published by Companhia Editora Nacional between 1962 and 1975, considering these relations, indicative of a determinate discourse of historic knowledge. To this study a bibliographic study was carried, approaching the ways of History as a school discipline, the school culture and the political context that gives support to the production analysis, publication and circulation of the book, in all these 60 editions, as merchandising, ideological and cultural support. The Compêndio de História do Brasil, by Borges Hermida was analyzed as an industrial product an in his condition of source to be studied to the comprehension of a part of the history of education and of the history of teaching History, as well as to understanding and study of a didactic book study. The book, as an industrial cultural product is fruit from the intervention of several individuals and authors and a material element of complex elements, bringing the necessity to be conceived as an historical documental body; the authors name, although it doesnt appear in all the stages of formation and production, should serve as a commercial appeal in larger sales. The authors historiographical discourse, expressed by the written text, is a crucial point of the analysis, as well the images used in the various contexts. Besides the historical content publicized through the texts and images, also were object of analysis, their formal characteristics represented by their lay out organization, typography and editing, seen as integrant parts of the historical and didactical discourse established by the project. The analysis of editorial and historiographical elements allowed a better comprehension of the establishment of dialogues between the text and the images that were publicized by the book as a material product. The Compendio, for a long time, was a diffuser of knowledge and of a determinate historical discourse expressed in his pages through the work of several professionals of the editorial area, of the images that reproduce the art of dozen of painters and draftsmen and, mainly, through the words of his author, Antonio José Borges Hermida.

The aim of this study was to analyze how the effects of the dynamic media of book apps affect the user experience during reading practice, based on the narrative immersion. The research was predominantly qualitative, characterizing itself as an exploratory, descriptive and explanatory research; to that end, rescued the state of the art in the subject in question in order to employ scientific support on the results obtained. Children of the 3rd year of elementary school in a public school in São Luís (MA) composed the universe of this research, which presents a non-probabilistic sampling, categorized as intentional or sampled by judgment, defined by saturation of information. They were used as instruments of data collection: interview, direct observation, video recording to record the information collected during the interaction test and the use of the loudspeaker technique, as well as application of the Likert scale satisfaction questionnaire. The research presents the results based on an interpretative analysis of the data, supported by the theoretical contribution referring to the aspects coming from the field of Design, especially the Design of Interaction. The analysis allowed us to infer that dynamic media affect the user experience during reading in a positive way, without harming the occurrence of narrative and playful immersion, complementing the sense of the narrative text in a digital environment. / Pesquisa acerca das mídias dinâmicas de book apps e seus efeitos sobre a experiência do usuário infantil. O estudo objetivou analisar como os efeitos das mídias dinâmicas de book apps afetam a experiência do usuário infantil durante a prática de leitura, tendo por base a imersão narrativa. A investigação teve caráter predominantemente qualitativo, caracterizando-se como uma pesquisa exploratória, descritiva e explicativa; para tanto, resgatou o estado da arte da temática em questão a fim de empregar respaldo científico sobre os resultados obtidos. Crianças do 3º ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola da rede pública municipal de ensino de São Luís (MA) compuseram o universo desta pesquisa, que apresenta uma amostragem não probabilística, categorizada como intencional ou amostragem por julgamento, definida por meio de saturação das informações. Foram adotados como instrumentos de coleta de dados: entrevista, observação direta, gravação em vídeo para registrar as informações levantadas durante o ensaio de interação e o uso da técnica do pensamento em voz alta, bem como aplicação do questionário de satisfação mediante escala Likert. A pesquisa apresenta os resultados com base em uma análise interpretativa dos dados, sustentada pelo aporte teórico referente aos aspectos provenientes do campo do Design, especialmente do Design de Interação. A análise permitiu inferir que as mídias dinâmicas afetam a experiência do usuário durante a leitura de forma positiva, sem prejudicar a ocorrência da imersão narrativa e lúdica, complementando o sentido do texto narrativo em ambiente digital.

The responsiveness of the library collection to the information needs of researchers at the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa.

Magister Artium - MA / Collection development plays a significant role in the successful achievement of the library’s purpose. The reason for the existence of the library is to meet the information needs of the community it serves. To determine if the PIC is responsive to the information needs of parliamentary researchers, the study used a mixed method of data collection. A survey method in the form of a questionnaire was used to collect quantitative data from parliamentary researchers. Other researchers at Parliament, for example researchers employed by political parties are not part of this study. Qualitative data was collected through interviews with a selection of librarians involved in the PIC collection development process and an evaluation of the Collection Development Policy of the PIC. Four librarians from the PIC were interviewed, and the PIC Collection Development Policy was analysed to triangulate data collected from the questionnaire and interviews. The information needs of parliamentary researchers are triggered by the information needs of parliamentarians, and therefore it is significant that the PIC provide a collection that responds to the information needs of researchers so they can provide relevant information to parliamentarians. The findings indicate that the responsiveness of the library material varies according to the needs of the researchers. The PIC will benefit from a proactive involvement of parliamentary researchers in the collection development process. Customised orientation, proper needs analysis and collection evaluation will improve usage of the library resources and responsiveness of the library material to the clients.

O objetivo desta dissertação é demonstrar como a evolução simultânea de aspectos técnicos, morfológicos e materiais alteraram a condição do livro e o estabelecimento do ebook. O segundo objetivo da dissertação é apresentar as mudanças epistemológicas por conta dessa evolução. Os aspectos técnicos relacionam-se às técnicas envolvidas na produção do livro e do e-book. Os aspectos morfológicos relacionam-se à forma. Os aspectos materiais relacionam-se à cultura, ao mercado editorial e aos hábitos de leitura. Essa simultaneidade provoca uma alteração única na história da leitura, do livro e do ebook. A condição atual é a da participação de leitores autores que se auto-publicam, empresas de tecnologia como Amazon e Apple que se tornaram quase editoras e de booksapps- games. O reflexo dessa evolução se dá especialmente na questão cognitiva da leitura do e-book que é distinta da leitura no impresso. / The main objective is to demonstrate how the simultaneous evolution of the technical, morphological and material aspects influenced the book and the appearance of the e-book. The second objective is to show the epistemological changes because of that evolution. The technical aspects relate to techniques involved in the production of both book and ebook. The morphological aspects relate to its form. The material aspects relate to culture, the editorial market and the reading culture. That simultaneity generates a unique change in the history of reading, book and the e-book. Reality presents readers authors that selfpublish, technology companies such as Amazon and Apple that are nearly publishers and books-apps-games. Cognitive ramifications of that evolution appear in the reading of the ebook that is different from the reading of the book.

A partir da obra Cartas dos primeiros jesuítas do Brasil, organizada por Serafim Leite, este trabalho busca estudar alguns aspectos do processo de produção livresca do século XVI, em particular as condições de redação e de edição dos livros manuscritos e impressos, dentro e fora do ambiente da Igreja Católica, e a sua circulação na Metrópole e na Colônia. A partir da observação de um momento histórico em que a maneira de ler, escrever e difundir os textos sofreu mudanças profundas, pretende reconstruir parte da história da cultura material do livro no século XVI. / Using as reference the work \"Cartas dos Primeiros Jesuítas do Brasil\" organized by Serafim Leite, this study aims to analyse some of the aspects related to the book production process during the XVI century, particularly the ones that refer to the writing and editing of manuscripts and prints inside and outside the perimeter of the Catholic Church, and the circulation in both the Metropolis and the Colony. By analysing a particular historical moment in which the way texts were read, written and divulged went through deep changes, the study seeks to retrieve part of the history of the materiality of books in the XVI century.
