Mulheres e HIV/aids: um estudo de recepção radiofônica / Women and HIV / AIDS: a study of reception radiophonic

Franco, Maria Helena 29 October 2010 (has links)
Indicam também que a inserção do programa radiofônico Silvia e Você na rede discursiva provocou deslocamentos importantes tendo em vista o enfrentamento da epidemia / This study is located in the area of Communication and Health, had intended to analyze senses related to women\'s vulnerability to HIV/aids produced by receivers of a radio program targeted to confront HIV/aids, transmitted by a communitarian radio of Sao Paulo city. To do this, articulates concepts of gender, social discourse production, production of senses, women\'s vulnerability to HIV/aids. The analysis, based on interviews with receivers of a radio program, named category genre as instance of mediation for interpretation of the senses produced at reception. The results indicate that possible transformations/changes related to sexuality and HIV/aids prevention in affective-sexual relationships are very permeable to the desire of man. Also indicate that the insertion of radio program Silvia and You on the discursive network caused major shifts in order to confront the epidemic

Moura, Neide Cardoso de 05 November 2007 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Neide Cardoso de Moura.pdf: 20155672 bytes, checksum: 2bff4b17d9d3f52a3b49a73e6a6068a4 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2007-11-05 / This thesis had as purpose the analysis, in the perspective of gender discriminations, in Portuguese Language textbooks for students and teachers of the fourth degree of elementary schools, published in the period between 1975 and 2003. The analysis was produced in the interpretative contexts of the theory of ideology (Thompson, 1995), supported in the concept of gender proposed by (Scott, 1995), in Rosemberg s theory on age relations (1996), as well as in the contemporary studies on gender/women. This knowledge provides apprehension conditions in terms of permanencies and changes of these discriminations in the considered period, adopting, for that, a diachronic perspective. With this intent one adopted the methodological perspective of Thompson (1995), involving three stages. The first one was the sociohistorical analysis, having as purpose to analyze the specific contexts and socially structured where the symbolical forms here considered as textbooks, were produced, constructed and reproduced. The second stage, the formal analysis or discursive one, consisted of an internal analysis of these symbolical forms, through the analyses of the content. In the third one, in the interpretation/reinterpretation of the gender ideology as a process of synthesis in which one searched to articulate the results of the former steps. For the quantitative analysis it was used as sample thirty-three textbooks of Portuguese language, from which it was selected two hundred and fifty one reading units, with one thousand and three hundred seventy two characters. In the illustrations of the same units we observed six hundred fifty characters and one hundred twenty illustrated in the book covers. The contexts analyses of the textbooks production as well as the formal analyses, enabled to develop the thesis that, spite the whole movement in the field of the production of these books; of the increment of the sex/gender theme in the agenda of the public politics represented in the legislative educational diversity; of the evaluations made by The Ministry of Education/MEC, represented by PNLD, the text book remains as a means of gender discriminations, in spite of presenting changes, even though, still insufficient / Esta tese teve como propósito a análise, na perspectiva das discriminações de gênero, de livros didáticos de Língua Portuguesa endereçados a alunos(as) e professores(as), da quarta série do ensino fundamental, publicados no período entre 1975 e 2003.

Práticas políticas e representações de si: os escritos autobiográficos da mexicana Antonieta Rivas Mercado e da brasileira Patrícia Galvão / Pagu / Political Pratices and Representations of the self: the autobiographical writings of the mexican Antonieta Rivas Mercado and the brasilian Patrícia Galvão/ Pagu

This thesis studies the trajectory of two Latin American women: Antonieta Rivas Mercado (1900 1931) and Patrícia Galvão (1910 1962). They were women with multiple faces, marked by social, political, and ideological differences. They had been considered transgressors of the prevailing social and cultural rules. They crossed borders showing other possibilities to acting in the public scenario, and participating actively in the artistic and political movements, which would propose changes. The privileged sources for this investigation were the writings of self (letters, autobiography and personal diaries). They built images of themselves reflecting and giving opinions about issues related to tensions involving difficulties to conciliate private life (motherhood, marriage, divorce, tradition) and public acting with the public actuation (in the cultural and political scope). As women living on a time of changes, they took over in distinct levels, in a subtle or declared way, that motherhood was not the only or the most important project in their lives.

This dissertation shows, on own women speaking the alternatives that they conceive to be the possibilities to build autonomy, as education and work access and political participation / A presente dissertação busca mostrar como as mulheres de Angola, em especial as da Província do Bié se apropriam do seu trabalho como uma forma de construir caminhos que possam fortalecer a sua luta pela busca de autonomia.

The Paradox of the Female Politician”A Comparative Study of Women’s Representation in Political Assemblies in Guadeloupe and Jamaica Since 1944. : A Comparative Study of Women’s Representation in Political Assemblies in Guadeloupe and Jamaica Since 1944

Brohan, Soizic 28 June 2019 (has links)
The Caribbean plantation societies are often described as “matrifocal” or even matriarchal societies in which women hold a female power which deprives their male counterparts of their “natural” authority. Women indeed possess a female power but “matrifocality” does not prevent men from holding more power than women in some domains. The study of the political arena is insightful in this regard. This thesis considers the paradoxical gap between the power women are believed to have in society and their position within the political system, and studies the relationship between the Caribbean social order and its gendered political representation. It analyzes the evolution of women’s representation in the central political assemblies of Guadeloupe (Departmental Council and Regional Council) and Jamaica (House of Representatives and Senate) since 1944, drawing on the permanent evolutions between the structural constraints of the two studied political systems and the symbolic constraints interiorized by the parliamentarians that carry a specific social history; as well as their diversified pathways to political professionalization, echoing their different personal, professional and political trajectories. The research method uses archival data, through the collection of statistical and monographic data which enabled the construction of a database of women seated in the political assemblies of Guadeloupe and Jamaica, as well as interviews conducted with some of them in order to deepen the analysis of their trajectories. The comparative study between Guadeloupe and Jamaica highlights the specificities of their political representation systems despite their similar sociocultural history.

Bertran i Noguer, Carme 26 July 2005 (has links)
Estudi transversal quantitatiu i qualitatiu. / The objective of the investigation has been to know because the nurses group does not perceive its profession at the same level that academically similar others and that is immersed by one invisibility allowed by the same one, by other professionals of the health, the institutions and the own society. It has interested to us to find out if this has to do with the majority presence of the woman in nursing. Quantitative and qualitative cross-sectional study. The used strategies are the combination and triangulation. The professionals of nursing consider vocational, with little professional identity, socially secondary, with responsibility, great potential of projection and low consideration of the own professional respect to the independent roll and the medical dependency. Important impregnating of stereotypes allowed by such professional. The causality is due to femininity. The results of the study tolerate the elaboration and implantation of educational strategies in the scope of the university formation and in the professional one.

Dropping Out or Opting Out?: A Qualitative Study on how Young Men of Portuguese Ancestry in Toronto Perceive Masculinity and how this Informs Educational Attainment

Pereira, David 29 November 2011 (has links)
Young men of Portuguese heritage in Toronto continue to demonstrate lower levels of educational attainment. American and Canadian research increasingly points to gender and masculinity to address boys’ academic underachievement, yet studies have not focused a gender lens on Portuguese male youth in Toronto to interrogate educational achievement. This qualitative exploratory study explores gender through constructions of masculinity to better understand young Portuguese-Canadian men and their choices concerning education. Through their narratives, participants revealed that masculinity does inform their attitudes and choices concerning education and school. Bourdieu’s concepts of habitus and field are used to explore how masculinity and educational mobility generate considerable struggle and tension in participants’ lived experiences. This study ultimately surfaced more questions surrounding resistance to help-related educational resources, effects of educational mobility on ethnic identity and cultural cohesiveness, and how and when young men of Portuguese ancestry arrive at decisions to de-select education.
