Palmqvist Söderman, Linnéa, Johansson, Erica January 2020 (has links)

Trade wars, Brexit and Pandemics – A strategy for survival in a turbulent world : A case study on a global FMCG company

Kerekes, Daniel, Adamsson, Emma January 2020 (has links)
During the last decades, the world has become increasingly globalized, leading to an increased interdependence between nations. This development has given rise to an increased vulnerability to turbulence created by external events and made it even harder to find the right strategic fit while managing the trade-offs between global integration and local responsiveness. The purpose of this thesis is, therefore, to understand how external events, namely Trade wars, Brexit and Pandemic affect an MNC's international strategy and how an MNC can adapt its strategy and structure to respond to the turbulent environment. Consequently, this thesis follows a case study-based design which helps to provide an in-depth company view and a strong foundation for the analysis of the strategic considerations made by the case company. The findings show that external events affect the company's capacity to produce, reduces trade opportunities, and prevents the continuous supply. Further, a direct response to the turbulent environment is to adapt the strategy and structure towards an adjusted Regional Strategy, with a focus on interdependence within geographical market clusters. This will create more opportunities to find the integral trade-off between global integration and local responsiveness and consequently respond to the arising regional complexities.

Karlsson, Göran January 2020 (has links)

The corona pandemic : A comparative quantitative study of the framing of the coronavirus in the newspapers Dagens Nyheter and Aftonbladet

Säfvenberg, Angelica, Jonsson, Desirée January 2020 (has links)
On the 11th of march, the coronavirus was declared as a pandemic and during the following weeks the media coverage about the virus drastically increased. The aim of this essay was to examine how two swedish newspapers, Dagens Nyheter and Aftonbladet, reported about and framed the news about the coronavirus. This was achieved by examining the difference between the reporting of the two newspapers and the difference between how the coronavirus was framed depending on which country was reported about. The framework of this study contains of framing theory, agenda setting theory, the studies of news values, stereotypes, and the Other. The method used to examine this topic was a quantitative content analysis based on 331 articles about the coronavirus. The results of this study show that even though the coronavirus was classified as a pandemic, that spread across the world, the main focus of the reporting centered around the coronavirus in Sweden. The places that the newspapers focused the least on was Africa and South America with barely any news about the spread of the coronavirus. In accordance with previous research, the most utilized theme in relation to the coronavirus was actions to slow the virus down and management of the virus. The most commonly used sources of the articles were other media outlets. The second most commonly used source spokespeople for different companies, they often spoke about the negative consequences that fell upon the companies due to the coronavirus. Aftonbladet produced 77 more articles than Dagens Nyheter, measured during the same timespan. Dagens Nyheter produced more articles about the economic effects that were caused by the coronavirus than Aftonbladet, they focused more on articles about actions to slow the virus down. The choice of angles of the articles also differed between the newspapers. Aftonbladet focused more on the negative effects of the coronavirus, while Dagens Nyheter did not have one specific angle that was more prominent.

Ljam, Yonas, Björklund, Mathias January 2022 (has links)
This study presents the crisis management of several football clubs and how they acted during the pandemic in relation to stakeholders. The study’s questions are based on the purpose of investigating how football clubs in Sweden's highest division have handled the pandemic and how stakeholders have contributed to their survival. We chose to interview the finance managers for each football club to get as good information as possible. The empirical study is collected qualitatively and quantitatively in the form of semi-structured interviews and statistics from SCB. By examining the football club’s crisis management from an economic perspective, the study has highlighted the stakeholder’s impact in the football clubs. Applied theories in the study are the Stakeholder theory and Mitroff’s model for crisis management, which we used as tools in our analysis. It turned out that the clubs all acted differently in their organizations based on the theories. The crisis management and cooperation with stakeholders have looked different for different football clubs. The conclusion of this study is that the football clubs have handled financial strains in the organization in different ways based on the relationship between their financial stability and the relationship with stakeholders.

Understanding the Needs of Educators in Environmental Education Programming

Villegas, Morgan P 05 1900 (has links)
This thesis describes a study conducted for the San Antonio River Authority to understand the needs of educators in environmental education programming. This study explores the experiences of educators in teaching environmental education, the tools and methodologies they use, what they think and feel about environmental education, and what their needs are when selecting environmental education curricula and programming to engage their students. This thesis contains an extensive literature review relevant to the local environment in San Antonio, Texas, equity in access to education in borderland regions, educator training, and environmental education goals and methodologies. The study utilizes both qualitative and quantitative research tools: a survey and a collection of semi-structured interviews. The findings of this study indicate that educators are looking for environmental education curricula and programming that is convenient to use and access, training that gives them confidence to teach environmental concepts, curricula and training that helps them facilitate a sense of wonder and engagement in their students, and more content that is locally relevant.

Securing Supply Chains : A qualitative research about supply chain disruptionsduring global crisis, example of wood in Sweden

Eriksson, Tim, Sjögren, Jesper, Ivanov, Vladislav January 2022 (has links)
Over the past few years, the price for lumber has increased significantly for various reasons such as the covid-19 pandemic. This means that companies related to both construction and lumber business will be affacted. The supply chain was disturbed with long delivery times and lack of people being able to transport due to sickness from the covid-19 and different restrictions.  The emperical findings for this thesis have been acquired by using a qualitative research strategy and conducting different interviews with companies related to the research and working in the lumber industry.  Furthermore, the authors have used abductive approach. The conclusion for this thesis shows that companies will adapt after any crisis and that it is hard to plan for something that is unproducible such as a pandemic

Pandemieffekter på kvinnors psykiska hälsa / Pandemic effects on women's mental health

Larsson, Nathalie, Johansen, Iril January 2022 (has links)
This study is a qualitative study based on semi-structured interviews with eight people. The purpose of this study has been to investigate women's mental health during covid-19. The study has the following research questions: Have women in Sweden and Norway experienced that their mental health has been affected by Covid-19? And if so, how has it been affected? Have there been any differences between mental health before and during the pandemic?   The study shows that the respondents have a fairly similar opinion about how mental health was experienced during covid-19, but the answers were a little more different when it came to what was the biggest change during covid-19. None of the respondents stated that they had any mental disorders before the pandemic, but during the pandemic the most important findings were that the respondents could at times experience mental disorders such as loneliness and depression. The result of this study is that there is a difference in the mental health of women before and during the pandemic, but this difference is not large. The only thing that can be concluded is that the interviewees during the pandemic have experienced mental disorders such as loneliness and depression due to the restrictions during the pandemic.

How could China's Assistance to Italy and Spain throughout the Coronavirus Pandemic Help China Increase Its Cooperation With the European Union?

Garkov, Lyubomir January 2022 (has links)
The world was seriously affected by the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic. The research question of the thesis is: "How could China's assistance to Italy and Spain throughout the Coronavirus pandemic help China increase its cooperation with the European Union?". This paper will analyze how Covid-19 created an opportunity that Xi Jinping used to strengthen his country's relations with the European Union. Also, it will present China as a state that wants to cooperate with other states and is ready to help anyone in case of an emergency. The research question was studied through the theoretical lenses of neoliberalism and two of its concepts - complex interdependence and soft power. The method that was utilized is textual analysis because it helped identify China's messages in the country's intensive public diplomacy during the pandemic. The conclusion is that China successfully used the window created by the pandemic to deepen its strategic partnership with the European Union.
