[pt] ESTABILIZAÇÃO DE ESPUMAS DE CO2 EM SALMOURAS DE ALTA SALINIDADE USANDO SURFACTANTES E NANOPARTÍCULAS / [en] STABILIZATION OF CO2-FOAMS IN HIGH SALINITY BRINE USING SURFACTANTS AND NANOPARTICLESBEATRIZ RIBEIRO SOUZA DE AZEVEDO 01 September 2023 (has links)
[en] The application of foams in the petroleum industry has gained significant interest in the past few years, demanding stable foams under applications conditions. In this work, a systematic screening study was carried out using surfactants of different chemical natures (anionic, cationic, non-ionic, and zwitterionic) to formulate N2- and CO2-foams in different brines. High concentrations of salts, especially bivalent cations (Ca2+ and Mg2+), led to a decrease in foam stability of anionic surfactants due to precipitation. In addition, coarsening dominated the foam destruction mechanisms of CO2-foams, due to the large gas solubility in the aqueous phase, compared to N2. Subsequently, three ionic surfactants and two oxide nanoparticles (NPs) (SiO2 and Al2O3) were used in combinations of similar or opposite charges to stabilize CO2 foams in a complex brine, typical of injection fluids (desulfated seawater - DSW). Surface tension, viscosity, zeta potential and hydrodynamic size experiments allowed the analysis of CO2 foam stability based on the impact of surfactant/NP interactions on bulk and interfacial properties. All oppositely charged systems improved the foam half-life; however, a higher NP concentration was required for surfactants with high interface adsorption efficiency. Both bulk viscosity and rigidity of the interfacial films drastically increased in these systems, reducing foam drainage. The results from this thesis showed that the use of NPs should be tailored to the surfactant of choice, considering the conditions of salinity and pH of the medium, to achieve an interplay of interfacial and rheological properties able to reduce foam drainage in applications involving CO2 foam in brine.

[en] IF I COULD I WOULD STUDY IN THE SCHOOL COURT: THE SCHOOL SPACE IN MICRONARRATIVES AND POSITIONS OF STUDENTS OF A CIEP / [pt] SE EU PUDESSE ESTUDAVA NA QUADRA: O ESPAÇO ESCOLAR EM MICRONARRATIVAS E POSICIONAMENTOS DE ALUNOS DE UM CIEPMONIQUE FRANCISCO CASSIANO 16 April 2020 (has links)
subjetivação do espaço escolar.
[en] The present research aims at the discursive analysis of the interaction of
young students of a CIEP in order to better understand their perceptions regarding
that school space, through their positioning and their narrative constructions on
the school. This work sought to investigate and understand the process of
construction of meaning and subjectivation of this space, as well as (re)think the
current educational policy of Rio de Janeiro. The research, of a qualitative and
interpretive nature (Denzin and Lincoln (2003), 2006), was developed through the
analysis of interviews in groups, semi-structured, recorded in audio, with young
people between 15 and 18 years old, students of a ninth grade class of elementary
school, of a state school in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. The
interviews are analyzed based on the theoretical perspective of narrative analysis
(Bastos and Biar, 2015), more specifically the conception of micronarratives
(Bamber; Georgakopoulou, 2008); of the perception of space of the Humanist
Geography (Tuan, 2013 (1977)); (Wenger, 1998) and positioning theory
(Langenhove and Harré, 1999). Thus, we will observe how, in the interview of
group research i) the participants are positioned, in relation to liking or not to
going to school; ii) students jointly build shared knowledge and practices at
school; iii) their positions and their narrative constructions signal the process of
subjectivation of the school space. The analyzes suggested a heterogeneity and
complexity in the students perception about the school. Their positioning and
narrative constructions run counter to the social conception of the common sense
of place to study; moreover, the meaning built individually and collectively
from their experiences in that space is beyond a pedagogical perspective.

[en] ANALYSIS OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS BASED ON A MOMENTROTATION APPROACH / [pt] ANÁLISE DE VIGAS DE CONCRETO ARMADO BASEADA NA ABORDAGEM MOMENTO-ROTAÇÃOGILCYVANIA CASTRO CORVELO COSTA 28 April 2020 (has links)
[en] The evalutation of the stiffness of one-dimensional reinforced concrete elements is performed through the moment-curvature approach. The presented results are satisfactory, owing to that an analysis of full-interaction between materials is a premise. However, this consideration ignores important effects as crack formation and sliding between the interfaces. The cracked element no longer undergoes continuous strain and beggings to experience discreet displacements at the crack face. The crack formation is possible due to the sliding capacity between the reinforcement-concrete interface. These slides are being incorporated in a mechanical model through the bond-slip interface properties by the PartialInteraction mechanism known as tension-stiffening. Furthermore, in the compressed region, on reaching elevated strains, the concrete may be subject to formation of concrete wedges delimited by cracks, which form the wedge plane. This plane undergoes slides that are responsible for crescent effective strains in the concrete, these represent a further partial-interaction mechanism: the concretesoftening. The partial-interaction mechanisms presented are used in the analysis of concrete beams through a mechanical model known as rotation-moment approach. Comparisons with the traditional moment-curvature model are presented. Also, implementations of the beams analysis by moment-curvature and moment-rotation models are developed. Lastly, validations are perfomed with experimental tests, based on literatures.

compõem a cidade e o país. A atitude de pesquisa escolhida foi a
Etnometodologia.
A investigação permitiu
As situações analisadas refletem ainda características da sociedade brasileira
referentes à valorização hierárquica e à existência de questões de gênero no trato
entre homens e mulheres. / [en] The understanding of the management of small business was the motivation
to this research developed at São Cristóvão Fair, a Municipal Centre of
Northeastern Traditions placed at Rio de Janeiro city, in Brazil, whose formation
reflects the social, economic, cultural and political aspects that make up the city
and also the country. The research attitude chosen was Ethnomethodology. This,
combined with Conversation Analysis, permitted the data be obtained from the
environments and the people daily interactions, in a naturalistic way, locally
situated. The commercial unit of the Fair from which the study was developed
was the China Store, place where were made video recordings, photos, talks, and
observations that originated the analysis categories developed in this
investigation, related to other spaces of the Fair when relevant. The investigation
let to comprehend that internal competition and inequality among enterprises are
strong characteristics of the Fair. The study still evidenced that the daily job of a
trader responsible for micro and small businesses in this environment, like China,
includes the emphasis on physical presence, the constant effort to replace
customers, take measures to be independent in some measure from collective
structure, few friendship relations and fundamental collaborative relations, besides
many moments of sociability. The analysed situations still reflects characteristics
of Brazilian society related to hierarchical valuation and the existence of gender
issues in dealing between men and women too.

[en] SUPPORTING THE DESIGN AND THE INTERPRETATION OF HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION DIAGRAMS REPRESENTED IN MOLIC / [pt] APOIO AO DESIGN E À INTERPRETAÇÃO DE MODELOS DE INTERAÇÃO HUMANO-COMPUTADOR REPRESENTADOS EM MOLICANA CAROLINA INNECCO C DE ARAUJO 28 October 2008 (has links)
destina etc. De acordo com
a Engenharia Semiótica, fundamentação teórica deste
designer. A Engenharia
modela todas as
(Modeling Language for
trabalho visa explorar
O primeiro é apoiar a
MoLIC. O segundo é apoiar a interpretação da interação
humano-computador, a
[en] Personal computer users frequently view an interactive
computational
system as the user interface itself. Therefore, it´s
desirable that such interface be
developed in a way they can understand what the system is
for, what it allows
their users to do and in which way, for whom it´s made etc.
Based on Semiotic
Engineering, which is the theoretical foundation of this
work, such issues are
being conveyed to the users in a metamessage from the
designer, communicated
by its user interface, through conversations between the
user and the designer -
this one through his deputy at interaction time, the
designer´s deputy. Before the
concrete user interface is developed, Semiotic Engineering
proposes to model the
user-system interaction as a dialogue. In this stage, the
designer models all the
possible ways he anticipates that the users will be able to
accomplish their goals.
For this stage, a modeling language called MoLIC (Modeling
Language for
Interaction as Conversation) was created in 2003 to
represent the interaction as the
possible conversations between the user and the designer.
Although it has been
proposed as an epistemic tool, until now MoLIC had not had
its epistemic features
explored explicitly. This work aims to explore the
epistemic value of MoLIC,
supporting the designer`s reflection through a set of
questions that he might ask
for himself about the interaction representation, in order
to accomplish two goals.
The first one is to support the (re)design activity itself,
by making explicit the
consequences of the design decisions represented in MoLIC.
The second one is to
support the interpretation of the human-computer
interaction represented in
MoLIC, so that the designer or any other reader would be
able to understand and
explain MoLIC diagrams based on the conversation metaphor.

[en] USE OF IMMERSIVE ENVIRONMENTS IN COLLABORATION WITH REMOTE NON-IMMERSE USERS / [pt] USO DE AMBIENTES IMERSIVOS PARA COLABORAÇÃO COM USUÁRIOS REMOTOS NÃO IMERSOSEDUARDO RIBEIRO SILVA 10 October 2013 (has links)
[en] Throughout the years, many studies have explored the potential of virtual reality technologies to support collaborative work, particularly for training and simulation applications. By using a virtual environment, it is possible to create applications for simulation and training capable of representing real scenes, which also allow more flexibility to make structural changes to objects and other aspects of the virtual scenario to simulate, for instance, emergency situations and accidents, which are difficult to simulate in a real scenario. This work studies the use of collaboration in immersive environments to support user training. The 3C collaboration model (communication, cooperation and coordination) was used to define the model and collaboration tools in the development of a collaborative virtual reality application. The 3C model defines that in a collaborative environment individuals need to exchange information (communication) and organize (coordination) so they can work together in a shared environment (cooperation). For this work we implemented a collaborative training program between a user immersed in a CAVE and a remote user using a desktop computer. We implement techniques to help users accomplish collaboration: waypointing and highlight. To assist wayfinding, which is the cognitive process of defining a path through an environment using and acquiring spatial knowledge, aided by natural and artificial slopes, it was allowed to the desktop user to create waypoints, artificial slopes that allowed the definition of a path to the task goal. The highlight consists of the application of a silhouette on objects, highlighting them, allowing the users to easily identify the objects of interest. A series of tests was developed with the main objective of evaluating the heterogeneous scenario for collaboration, checking aspects such as: importance and effectiveness of audio communication, text communication need and the role of auxiliary techniques (highlight and waypointing) as eventual substitutes or complements techniques of communication in tasks based on real situations with different levels of complexity.

compartilhamento. / [en] About 50 per cent of people diagnosed with autism have dificulties in
developing any kind of functional language. This paper presents the
development and evaluation of a multi-user collaborative game for mobile

[en] STRUCTURE-SOIL INTERACTION BY FRAME STRUCTURES UNDER DYNAMIC LOADS DUE TO RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS / [pt] INTERAÇÃO ESTRUTURA-SOLO PARA ESTRUTURAS APORTICADAS SUBMETIDAS A CARREGAMENTOS DINÂMICOS DEVIDOS A COMPRESSORES ALTERNATIVOSEDUARDO ARREGUY VIANA 02 August 2013 (has links)
A avaliação do comportamento dinâmico do
[en] Gas compressors are key components of industrial plants in oil refining, mainly
acting as mechanical energy suppliers to chemical processes. Among the types of
compressors, the reciprocating ones is highlighted. Due to mandatory demands of
chemical process and industrial arrangement, it is common to install such equipment in
framed structures. This condition and the typical movement of mechanical parts of the
compressors generate dynamic loads which frequently causes unacceptable vibrations.
The aim of the present work is to evaluate the dynamic behavior of a system consisting
of a framed structure, a reciprocating compressor, foundation in piles and the soil itself.
For this purpose, parametric study is developed from simplified spring-mass models, a
finite element model and field measurements. The parametric study is aimed at establish
ranges of local soil parameters within which the dynamic behavior of a system can be
understood and measured. The parameters so-called spring stiffness (km) and the
constant coefficient of horizontal reaction (nh) of natural soil which typically occurs in
the area covered by the REPAR refinery, located in Araucaria, Paraná, are then
evaluated. This type of natural soils belongs to the geological formation called
Guabirotuba. The evaluation of the dynamic behavior of the system through the
developed models is benchmarked by field measurements of effective velocity of
vibration in the actual structure, obtained by instrumentation. The soil parameters are
obtained by back analysis of tests results by using two models widely used in design
offices: model proposed by Miche (1932) and model proposed by Hetenyi (1946). The
first one takes in account the variation of the soil parameters with depth, and the second
one considers soil parameters constant with depth. The aim is also to evaluate the
influence of the soil parameters obtained by static and cyclic horizontal loading tests,
the latter being proposed to simulate the dynamic effect on the soil. Finally, it is done
comparisons of the results provided by simplified models and the finite element model
in terms of natural frequencies of vibration.

[en] FACEWORK VIA E-MAIL: STRATEGIC INTERACTION IN DISTANCE EDUCATION / [pt] FACEWORK VIA E-MAIL: INTERAÇÃO ESTRATÉGICA NO ENSINO A DISTÂNCIAELIZABETH VARGES DE SOUZA 26 September 2013 (has links)
trabalho colaborativo e o papel do professor neste novo ambiente. A
ensino-aprendizagem a distância. / [en] Distance education mediated by computers provides several forms of
interaction. The courses offered in this modality differ both conceptually and
methodologically in what regards its design, implementation and improvement.
However, apparently, these issues are not the Achilles heel of DE, since much has
been studied and debated about the process of learning how to learn, the
development of learner’s autonomy, collaborative work and the teachers’ role in
this new environment. The technology available for studying online kind of
imposed this paradigm shift in teaching and learning at a distance, since it would
not be viable to adapt the traditional model of knowledge transmission to a type of
education that privilege autonomy and collaboration. However, the actual
meaningful change after the introduction of the information and communication
technologies in the educational scenario occurred in the way people interact, since
it was the increasing ease of Internet access, along with the development of
different applications and online learning environments that allowed new and
diverse forms of interaction, expanding the range of communication possibilities.
Therefore, it is based on questionings about how the interactional processes occur
in institutional environments online and how people, in the case of this research,
the students, negotiate meanings and constitute their social positions that a new
perspective to the understanding of computer mediated learning will arise. Thus,
based on Goffman’s concepts of facework and impression management, along
with those of interactional sociolinguistics, as for example, the contextualization
cues and the footing of the interactors, I proceed to the analysis of the content of
the e-mails exchanged between the students and the mediator, taking into account
that such interactions must be understood within the limitations imposed by
technology. Therefore, through two different types of analysis, a formal and a discursive one, this study aimed at contributing to a broader understanding of the
use of the e-mail not only as a way that provides the possibility to attest the
dynamics of the interactions throughout a course but also as a means to
understand how issues related to face emerge and may play a crucial role in
distance teaching and learning.

[en] STABILITY OF BURIED PIPES UNDER THERMAL LOADS / [pt] ESTABILIDADE DE DUTOS ENTERRADOS SUJEITOS A CARGAS TÉRMICASMARIANNA ANSILIERO DE OLIVEIRA COELHO 15 September 2009 (has links)
O duto expande devido a estas cargas térmicas. / [en] In this work a study of the stability of buried pipelines subjected to thermal loads is developed. The thermal loads are due to the heated fluid that flows through the pipe. Fluid heating is for ease of oil transportation. The pipe expands due to the thermal loading. Axial forces are developed in the pipe due to the expansion since the pipe is restricted on its ends. The analysis of pipes subject to thermal loadas were carried out with use of theoretical and numerical methods for upheaval and snaking buckling problems considering perfect pipes and pipes with imperfection. The numerical models were developed with the support of the ABAQUS software. The pipe was modeled as a beam and the soil is represented by interface elements and alternatively by spring elements. A beam-shell model was also developed where part of the pipe was modeled as a shell to allow a wrinkling analysis. Parametric studies were also carried out to investigate the effects of the soil stiffness, shape and amplitude or the imperfection and internal pressure on the critical temperature of the pipe.
