Costa, Eliana Celia Ismael da 09 January 2005 (has links)
Orientador: Salvador Antonio M. Sandoval / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Educação / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-05T08:40:22Z (GMT). As conclusões apontam para uma visão estereotipada do papel da mulher no trabalho, como se observa ao longo da análise / Abstract: Since the publication of Simone de Beauvoir' s book "The Second Sex" in the 1950's, works with woman as the central object have increased. This development has brought about strong criticisms towards society' s dominant values as well as towards the social sciences dominants parameters, particularly those linked to andocentric explanations that saw the woman from a natural and a-historical point of view. In the 1980's and 1990's, studies about woman's different conditions have increased considerably and in areas such as history, anthropology, literature, psychology, education and sociology. The diversity of possible explanations, as well as the multiplicity of analytical perspectives and research methods have allowed the construction of different views about women and gender relationships. We can point out studies on gender identity development, social discourse about subordination, stereotypes and prejudices and, specially about subtle ways that women are dominated and devaluated. Following this research perspective specially from a social psychology angle and replacing prejudice and stereotypes in the social exclusion process, we present an empirical work that aims at analyzing current forms of discrimination towards woman on the working place. Specifically, this study analyses the social categorization processes developed by women and men, who have an authority position, about the discrimination towards women in their process of professional ascension, trying to understand the configuration of the new subtle discrimination forms suffered by women in authority positions and which are performed in the working relationships. Also, it is analyzed the strategies developed by women to gain or to maintain in their professional place. In order to achieve those goals, this empirical study has had two stages. In the first one, we approached a group formed by 50 men who were head of personal departments in public or private companies and who also had a graduated title. In the second stage we interviewed 20 women who were in high hierarchical positions in several public and private institutions. To analyze those interviews, we used the Content Analysis Technique and a Discourse Analysis Software, the statistical software ALCESTE (By Context Lexical Analysis) which were appropriated to this study objectives because it allows qualitative and quantitative interpretations of the interviews / Doutorado / Educação, Sociedade, Politica e Cultura / Doutor em Educação

Categorização da quarta sessão de psicoterapias bem e mal sucedidas / Categorization of the fourth session of successful and unsuccessful psychotherapies

Patricia Rivoli Rossi 02 May 2012 (has links)
Discutiu-se assim a necessidade de ampliar a amostra e utilizar outros eixos do sistema, como o de temas / The Multidimensional System for coding Behaviors in Therapist-Client Interaction (SiMCCIT), developed by Zamignani and Meyer, intend to describe what happens in psychotherapy sessions using behavioral categories of therapists and clients. The question that this study intended to answer was if this system is able to identify differences between successful and unsuccessful therapies. The assessment of therapy success was made with a mixed criterion defined by: (a) the results of the Working Alliance Inventory (WAI); (b) presence of improved behavior and analysis and (c) report of other changes in client behavior. In the total of 25 therapies with the first four sessions audio recorded, six were considered successful, six unsuccessful and 13 intermediate. The fourth sessions of successful and unsuccessful therapies were categorized. The data suggest some differences between the successful and unsuccessful therapy sessions, although not statistically significant. In the successful therapy sessions it was noted that: the category Request Report tended to be slightly more frequent in all sessions, the category Request showed a slightly higher percentage, and there was a positive correlation between Facilitation and Empathy. In the sessions of unsuccessful therapies it was found that: clients reported more or less than in successful therapies, the more clients reported more therapists facilitated their reports and that the more therapist asked reflections, the more goals clients proposed to undertake. Because the differences in categorization were not statistically significant in cases considered different it was concluded that the axis of vocal verbal behavior of SiMCCIT did not differentiate the successful from unsuccessful therapies. Some variables hampered the ability of the system to differentiate between sessions of successful and unsuccessful therapies: the reduced number of the sample and the use of only one of the axes of the system. It was discussed the need to expand the sample and use other axes of the system, such as themes

This study investigates the capacities of abstraction and generalization of linguistic patterns in the early stages of the acquisition of mother tongue, emphasizing the relationship of nonadjacent dependencies (DNA) and exploring the relationship between functional items and word markers of nouns. Unlike previous studies, which used artificial languages - whose phonological, morphological and prosodical properties were very simple - this research uses a pseudonatural language, preserving such properties. The conciliation between a psycholinguistic model aimed at the acquisition of language (Phonological Bootstrapping: Morgan & Demuth, 1996; Christophe et al., 1997) and a linguistic theory based on interface levels (Minimalist Program, Chomsky, 1995; 1999) allows us to understand the passage from one level of phonetic/phonological representation to a level of formal representation. Assuming also that statistical mechanisms of abstraction and generalization are resources available to infants and exploited early by them in the process of categorization of lexical (Marcus et al., 1999; Gómez, 2002; Newport & Aslin, 2004), the conciliation between the two theories aims to clarify how the child extracts from the sonorous continuum as well as distributional and prosodic clues, properties of the formal traces of the functional elements in which the Computational System acts resulting linguistic derivations. Babies at 11 months were exposed for a short period of time to a language other than their mother tongue and later exposed to new DPs congruent or not to those previously presented. The results indicate that babies reacted to different patterns of DNA according to those previously presented, listening longer to unfamiliar patterns, suggesting that from a short exposure to a pseudonatural language, babies at 11 months are able to abstract and generalize the pattern of this language. These results suggest that mechanisms of abstraction and generalization can be used by children in the initial process of language acquisition.

Paulsrud, Emil January 2014 (has links)

Les kòròdugaw du Mali : comportements et groupements bouffons / The kɔrɔdugaw in Mali : ritual clown’s behaviour and its social organization

Carbonnel, Laure 25 September 2015 (has links)
This research is about the ritual clowns (kɔrɔdugaw) of the region of Segou, in Mali. It analyses both their place in the Malian society and the processes that allow them to develop this recognizable clowning form observed in every cultural areas. The figure of the ritual clown is characterized by a type of behaviour that seems in opposition to the ordinary social conducts. Both playful and subversive, it’s intrusion in everyday life or in ceremonies captivates the attention of all participants. This behaviour, qualified in Mali as "shameless", raises several questions concerning its mechanisms, its efficiency, the balance between standards and transgressions, or the positioning in the social order of such a category which, at first sight, transcends all the frames. To explore the unconventional way ritual clowns invest the society, the analysis rely on the meticulous description of these social actor’s interventions. Firstly, the activities of the clowns are compared with those of other ceremonial participants, such as the griots, the hunters and the blacksmiths, people with whom they share certain attributes as producers of music and dance, people of knowledge, agents against witchcraft, agents generating ritual gifts. Secondly, the focus is put on the clowning form through the study of the situations they create, their recurring processes, and their uses within particular ceremonial contexts. Finally, the morphogenesis of the social category kɔrɔdugaw is analysed as well as the way it positions itself within the broader social structure. Ritual clowning appears from the analysis as a complex and processual mode of presence that is on the border between the individual and the community, by which emerges a capacity to act, adapted to the various social roles it endorses.

Nomination et catégorisation des realia exotiques dans les récits de voyage (Afrique noire, de la fin du 18e siècle à 1960) : une approche sémantico-discursive / Naming and categorizing exotic realia in traval narratives (Black Africa from late 18th century to 1960) : a semantic-discursive approach

Guerin, Olivia 05 July 2011 (has links)
The present study explores how reference is constructed in the discursive genre specifiedas travel narrative. A hallmark of the genre is a common posture towards the production of thetext where enunciator-travellers are placed in an asymmetric context between language and cultureand have to give an account of realia (natural species, artefacts, social practices) which are not systematically lexicalized in their own languages or for which they do not have naming competence. They thus tend to present referencing as problematic. In order to describe how incontext enunciators manage to reference “against all odds”, the present dissertation analysesnaming and categorization procedures of exotic realia in a corpus of travel accounts by Frenchtravellers to Black Africa in the colonial period. A discursive semantics is set up based on thepatterning of the three orders, language, textuality and discourse. The present work first builds upa typology of naming patterns implemented in the corpus and is able to show that discursivepractices concerned with naming rest on the language as a system. This first referencing procedureis followed by sequential operations to delimit categories; textual constraints on this secondprocedure are shown up. There follows the analysis of the discursive effects that result from theuse of such linguistic resources and this is done through articulation with the generic dimensionand the enunciative and ideological stances. Finally the analytic tools that have been devised areapplied to the characterization of specific discursive processes in two contrasting texts from thecorpus.

Influence of the difference between expectation & perception on affective judgment : from consumers’ memory to product design : how to deal with variability among individuals’ expectations?

Rizzo, Sabine 05 December 2016 (has links)
Many innovations fail because they do not address the right expectations, for the right consumers, and for the right product.Theories in cognitive psychology allow us to improve current methodologies of consumer tests and to design food products based on the knowledge of consumers. The objective of this research is to better understand the influence of the discrepancy between consumers’ expectations and perceptions on the affective judgment in the context of food consumption. Within the framework of Grounded and Embodied cognition, we use theories developed on Perceptual Symbol System assuming a strong relationship between conceptual knowledge and sensory properties. Three studies were conducted on familiar and non-familiar product ranges. Results allow us to conclude that consumers’ expectations are defined as ad-hoc categories dependent on a situation of consumption, i.e. a motivation to consume the product in a determined context of consumption.Properties of the category define conceptual expectations and expected sensory properties of the product. Thus, we provide evidence that concepts and sensory properties are strongly related through retrieval of categories. The results of this thesis also provide methodological improvements to elicit consumers’ expectations through categorization tasks and to screen samples fitting the best with consumers’ expectations through affective judgment

Rôle des identités sociales dans la représentation sociale de la fatigue en France et en Syrie / The role of sociales identities in the social representation of the fatigue in France and Syrie

Saimouaa, Khaled 09 November 2015 (has links)
For a few years, many factors, such as the burden of training, are considered to be linked to the athletes’ difficulties to get used to training. The fatigue is one of the perceived problems by the athletes. Physiologically, the fatigue can be defined as “the decrease of a muscle’s capacity over time to exert force or power during a given exercise”. However, from the social point of view, the interpretation of fatigue is different and varies according to the social groups. This representation of the fatigue, specific to each group, should be considered as “a form of knowledge, socially developed and shared. In this doctoral thesis, we focus on the representation of fatigue in France and in Syria, more precisely on the social representation of being fatigued (worn out/tired/exhausted) among athletes and non-athletes in these two countries. The form of social knowledge of fatigue is approached via theories related to the physiological fatigue, the social categorization and in particular, via the theories of social identity and social representation. After the construction of the theoretical framework, six studies have been carried out in order to ascertain the representation of fatigue in each group of the two countries. The first two studies sought to highlight the elements of the social representation of fatigue in the French and Arabic dictionary. In the field of sports, low fatigue and better physical shape remain more to the athletes benefit then the non-practicing sport group. That why athletes seek to establish a favorable social position in their group by using social categorization. In the following research, four of the studies are interested in the representation of fatigue from two groups coming from two differents countries. Results using our ‘RepMut’ tool allow us to see that the representation of fatigue is different depending on the social group interviewed (sports, non-sport) and the country of origin of its members (France, Syria). In France, it appears that on a categorical level, only athletes are able to position themselves satisfactorily in the case of fatigue only, while in Syria the athletes are able to position themselves satisfactorily in the cases of fatigue and well being.

A comparison of the rate and accuracy of symbol location on visual displays using colour-coded alphabetic and categorisation strategies in Grade 1 to 3 children

Herold, M.P. (Marina Patricia) 14 October 2012 (has links)
The ability to locate symbols on a visual display forms an integral part of the effective use of AAC systems. Characteristics of display design and perceptual features of symbols have been shown to influence rate and accuracy of symbol location (Thistle&Wilkinson, 2009; Wilkinson, Carlin,&Jagaroo, 2006). The current study endeavoured to compare the use of two colour-coded organisational strategies (alphabetical order and categorisation) for their effectiveness in symbol location and to investigate if some bottom-up features influenced the performance of the participants in these tasks. 114 learners in Grade 1 to 3 in a mainstream school were randomly divided into two groups. Both of the groups were exposed to two visual search tests in alternating order. The tests involved searching for 36 visual targets amongst 81 coloured Picture Communication Symbols on a computer screen in one of two colour-coded organizational methods, namely alphabetical order or categorisation. The data from the research task was collected through computer logging of all mouse selections. Findings showed that locating symbols on a computer screen with a categorisation strategy was significantly faster and more accurate than with an alphabetical strategy for the Grade 1 to 3 participants. The rate and accuracy of target symbol location in both the strategies decreased significantly as grade increased, as did the differences between rate and accuracy of target location when using the two strategies. It was also found that although the tests in this study placed heavy top-down processing demands on the participants, there was still evidence of bottom-up factors influencing their performance. Implications for display design in AAC clinical practice were discussed. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Centre for Augmentative and Alternative Communication / unrestricted
