The drama of Senkatana by S.M. Mofokeng : a speech act explorationKock, L. J. (Levina Jacoba) 11 1900 (has links)
The drama of Senkatana by S.M. Mofokeng is analysed by applying principles provided
by speech act theory, using as basis the explication of the theory by Bach and Harnish
(1979). The socio-cultural context in the play has as its starting point the realm of myth
and legend. From here all categories of relationships within the protagonist/antagonist
encounter unfold, as do opposing sets of contextual beliefs characters rely on; these are
primarily responsible for the growing conflict in the drama. Enhancing the mythical
character of the play is the absorbing role played by the diboni, acting as seers, as
prophets and as additional 'authorial voice'. Their and those of other characters' speech
acts reflect this and more; they operate in a substantiated sign-system which provides
a framework for evaluating each semiotic act from locutionary, illocutionary and
perlocutionary dimensions of meaning.
Chapter 1 comprises a historical survey of studies on speech act theory, and includes
a brief summary of the position of the theory in the field of semiotics. The micro speech
act analysis of the play is facilitated by the division of the text into smaller action units
(summarised in Addendum 1).
Chapter 2, containing the greater part of the exposition, commences the narration of
the folktale and offers a clear rendering of the epic rise of the hero. Chapter 3 portrays
the rise and progress of the antagonists challenging the hero, coupled with intensifying
anxiety among the protagonists. Chapter 4 provides a vivid overview of how the values
of the hero triumph over those of the antagonist despite the physical slaying of the hero.
Chapter 5 offers a graphic outline of how the macro speech act is accomplished in the
play. It is shown how an investigation of the speech act profiles of characters, coupled
with the evaluation of illocutionary tactics and illocutionary/perlocutionary dynamics,
communicates significant information pertaining to characterisation. A graph illustrating
the rise and fall of micro speech acts within the larger macro speech act is provided in
Addendum 2. Suggestions are made regarding future research in literary texts. / African Languages / D.Lit. et Phil. (African Languages)

[en] LACAN S THEORIES OF LANGUAGE / [pt] AS TEORIAS DA LINGUAGEM EM LACANBIANCA NOVAES DE MELLO 09 November 2018 (has links)
[en] This thesis has as its theme the emphasis given by Lacan to the language in the psychoanalytic experience, during different moments of his teaching. From the opposition between language models that reduce their object to the internal laws of the language system and models that embrace the position of the speakers and
the discursive context, we seek to determine which is the conception of language Lacan uses when theorizing on language in the psychoanalytic experience. In order to demarcate the specificity of the psychoanalytic field, we compare the notion of language in Lacan with the structuralist model and the pragmatic philosophy of language.

As informações
ABSTRACT
This thesis holds as its object of study the curriculum integration woven as acts
of curriculum by the teachers of the State School Senhor do Bonfim, pertaining
to the Department of Education of the City of Salvador. The research problem
that guides this thesis is the investigation of how relations between the
integrated curricular organization approach and acts of curriculum are
engendered in the context studied, as well as in a secularly context organized
by the disciplinary ethos and ethics, which develop through curriculum acts as
an integration proposal /policy. The research had as its major objective the
comprehension of how curriculum integration happens in the context of Primary
Education at a Public School of the City of Salvador, within the context of
understanding the acts of curriculum constructed in day-to-day situations. To do
so, I have opted for a qualitative research approach from the theoreticalmethodological
viewpoint of a crititcal and multi-referential ethnic research of
phenomenological inspiration, by the principles presented, the relevance to the
type of study and its purposes. To access the understandings of the subjects I
have employed open interviews, document analysis, participant observation and
a field diary, as well as document analysis. The information gathered was
analyzed using content analysis. The study of the organization of initiatives
regarding integrated practices hereby investigated revealed that for such
initiatives to take place in the school setting it is not necessary that disciplinary
curriculum organization is left out; in other words, disciplinary curricular
organization establishes a relation of coexistence with the integrated approach.
It also demonstrates that collegiality and collaboration between teachers of this
particular teaching unit foster the success of integrated activities and while
these practices are presented as a more dialogic, dialectic and flexible form of
curriculum organization, they do not necessarily preclude other more
authoritarian practices of control and power.

Roberto Sidnei Macedo.
curriculares-formativos. / ABSTRACT
The current work aimed to explore the differences in formative experiencies from the overlap
between rhizomatic curriculum and the subjectivity. In general, I tried to understand the
curriculum from the perspective of the concept of rhizome and its resonances in formation.
For such undertaking it was necessary to evoque the concept of rhizome created by Gilles
Deleuze and Félix Guattari and stolen by Silvio Gallo to reflect on the rhizomatic curriculum
from their connections and heterogeneity. Moreover, I intended to discuss a non-essentialist
formation based on Deleuze‘s philosophy and the philosophy of formation by Jorge Larrosa,
inspired by Nietzsche. Finally, this research tried to think about the implication of rhizomatic
curriculum and the formation from the conceptual device acts of curriculum forged by
Roberto Sidnei Macedo. Stand out the potentialities of curriculum from the principles of
rhizome and a formation through the experiences of learning, non-humanist perspective and
an unyielding diference to identity. The linkage made between curriculum and formation was
aided by the ideas of becoming-minor and nomadology in education. The research is part of
the theorical field of philosophy of curriculum and philosophy of formation and its
methodologic design the cartographic layouts, considering the processuality of the object of
study as well as highlighting the unexpected experience of writing. From these
problematizations, emerged the concept of acts of rhizomatic curriculum to interweave the
rhizomatic curriculum and subjetivity, as well as to resist the formative curricular models.

(In)existências processuaisDanilo Heber de Oliveira Gomes 20 December 2011 (has links)
If the law does not apply over the factual support, and juridicize, there is no legal fact, and also there is
no legal effect, since only legal facts radiate legal effect. The study of (non)existence on legal process acts can be done based on a singular act or considering the whole procedure. The conclusion that an act does not exist does not mean that the whole procedure will also be nonexistent.
The question of non-existence is connected to the lack of sufficient factual support. Being insufficient the factual support, indicates that there was no entry in the legal world. If deficient, the act went into the legal world, even
though defective. The main debate of the dissertation is about to conclude if the procedural fact went into the legal world. To the existence of the process is necessary the existence of an initial act of the procedure, the act of suing, and the organ vested with jurisdiction. If there is a complaint to a court vested with jurisdiction, the process will enter into the legal world. The constitutional competence, the capability to be part, the citation and
the conditions of action are not requirements to the existence of the process. The aptitude to the attorney is not a requirement to existence, but is linked to its
effects only. Finally, the procedural way to recognize the inexistence of the act is declaratory action, because it is not possible to deconstruct, with the use of an
annulment action, because by the non-existent nothing was made to deconstruct

The Messiah and the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit: The Christological Significance of Jesus' Role as the Giver of the Spirit in Luke-ActsGodshall, Matthew 30 December 2013 (has links)
Without rejecting the general consensus among scholars that Luke emphasizes the humanity of Jesus, this dissertation attempts to contribute to the field of Lukan Christology by contending that there is more to the Lukan portrait of Jesus than what is generally acknowledged. Through his particular presentation of Jesus as the Spirit-Giver, Luke unveils the divine identity of the Messiah.
Chapter 1 provides a history of research of Lukan Christology and highlights the various controlling categories scholars have proposed for analyzing Lukan Christology. It concludes that there is a need for a study on Luke's Spirit-giver motif and its contribution to Lukan Christology.
Because the OT provides the conceptual world from which Luke develops his Spirit-Giver motif, chapter 2 examines the eschatological passages in Ezekiel, Isaiah, Joel, and Zechariah to see how that act of giving the Spirit is linked with the unique identity of Yahweh. The primary claim in this chapter is that the OT consistently presents the act of giving the eschatological Spirit as an act unique to the divine identity of Yahweh. This claim is supported in three ways: first, the primary metaphors employed to describe the giving of the Spirit are new creation and new exodus; second, the prophets explicitly link the act of giving the Spirit with Yahweh's identity as Israel's God; third, the act of giving the Spirit is reserved for Yahweh alone.
Chapter 3 explores how the act of giving the eschatological Spirit was understood in Second Temple and Rabbinic Judaism. This chapter highlights the continuity between the OT and Jewish literature: the act of giving the Spirit is linked with God's identity as the creator and redeemer. Despite its diversity, early Judaism associated the act of giving the Spirit with the unique identity of God and no other figure is ever presented as sharing this role.
Chapters 4 and 5 examine Luke's Gospel and Acts respectively in the attempt to understand how Luke himself has uniquely developed the Spirit-Giver motif. In drawing upon the OT promise of the outpouring of the Spirit, Luke presents Jesus as participating in a role that was reserved exclusively for Yahweh and unique to his identity as Israel's creator and covenant God. As the Spirit-Giver theme unfolds, the identity of Jesus and the Father overlap in their shared role as the Spirit-Giver. This theme is thus evidence of Lukan divine identity Christology.
Chapter 6 concludes the argument and explores implications for Lukan Christology.

A INTENÇÃO SUBJACENTE AOS ATOS DE FALA / THE SUBJACENT INTENTION IN THE SPEECH ACTSBeutler, Cleonice de Oliveira Santos 28 August 2009 (has links)
This research presents a study of the intention that exists in the speech acts. The context is placed as a determinant element as far as such acts are concerned, which are units of language in use. Special attention is given to the Austinian approach for its relevance to the studies of language. The previously mentioned approach
provides important contributions to the performative and pragmatic understanding of language usage. Through the speech acts theory, Austin called the attention to a
new conception, where language is accepted as action, starting to be seen as nontransparent, but open to different interpretations. This conception of language is
supported by the performative and pragmatic approach by Austin, Searle and Grice, beginning a new phase in the linguistic studies, a new paradigm in the language
study, not only for contemporary philosophy but also for linguistics. The present work shows a different approach from the philosophers aforementioned, comparing them,
in order to demonstrate that there are significant differences in relation to the way they understand the intention in the speech acts. The different understandings of these researchers are also presented as well as their definitions of locutionary, illocutionary and perlocutionary acts. Finally, the Austinian contributions to the study of language are also emphasized in the present study.
linguagem.

Previous issue date: 2009-03-15 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research considers the investigation of the argumentative strategies used by a
nurse to persuade the patient and it s a study of qualitative nature with a descriptive
approach, aiming to investigate the semantic-discursive function(s) of the direct and indirect
speech acts used by the nurse to persuade the patient to follow the recommended
behaviors. To reach this objective, the research had the following stages: description of the
direct and indirect acts, according to the Speech Acts Theory, used by the nurse to persuade
the patient; survey of the recurrent speech acts and inquiry of the argumentative function(s)
of the identified acts. The research was based on the Speech Acts Theory of Austin and
Searle, that studies the accomplishment of the speech acts as a way to describe what is
explicitly said or not said in the linguistic interaction between nurse-patient, identifying which
acts predominate (direct or indirect); and, later, in Perelman s Argument Theory, analyzing as
these speech acts are used to persuade the patient, with emphasis in the analysis of the
relation between nurse and patient, and of how one convinces the other to do the
recommended behaviors. The corpus was composed of nursing consultations, recorded in
Units of Family Health in the town of Olinda, and it was exclusively analyzed the speech act
of the nurse. In the analysis of the corpus one perceives that, during the consultations, three
strong moments in the interaction exist. At the beginning of the nursing consultation, there
the nurse investigates the patient s health condition to be able to define the clinical picture,
the diagnosis, and later the orientation of the behavior to be adopted to solve the detected
health problems. These acts are defined as macro-acts of INVESTIGATING, DIAGNOSING,
and GUIDING witch are direct speech acts. It was concluded that the direct macro-act of
GUIDING is predominant in the nursing consultation, permeating all of the nurse s talks in the
interaction with the patient, and it constitutes one of the main attributes of the nursing
profession, and the main purpose of the nursing consultation. Also, it was perceived that
these acts occur according to the interlocutor, that is, the nurse adjusts the speech according
to the particular audience: the patient, trying to adapt it to his/her values, consistent with the
context where it was inserted. Therefore, in the analysis of the corpus, it is noted that the
nurse uses sentences in the form of direct speech acts to, through argumentation, reach the
goal to direct speech acts and persuade the patient, provoking changes of habits and
behaviors.

Submitted by Ana Guimarães Pereira (agpereir@ucs.br) on 2015-07-10T14:55:35Z
