The Struggle for Preventative and Early Detection Networking: The ‘Asabiyya-Driven Structuration of Women’s Breast Cancer in the Arab Region

Luqman, Arwa January 2012 (has links)
By 2020, cancer mortality rates are estimated to increase by 180% in Arab countries, where breast cancer is the most common type of cancer. This thesis explores and evaluates the ‘asabiyya-driven structuration (the cohesive force of the group that gives it strength in facing its struggles for progressive reproduction) of cancer agents, government agents, and the World Health Organization agents for breast cancer prevention and early detection in the Arab region. The layers of the philosophical standing from Ibn Khaldûn’s concept of ‘asabiyya and the theoretical foundation of social systems theory, structuration theory, social network analysis, and social capital theory are peeled in order to explore and evaluate the context, constraints, social networks, autopoiesis, and social capital. Utilizing a qualitative research design, this thesis employs content analysis and in-depth interviews, as well as NVivo as a tool for analysis. Data is collected from 122 publications and knowledgeable informants employed by cancer agencies, ministries of health, and World Health Organization offices in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Oman. The findings are divided into the contextual scope of responsibility and resources, the progressive and hierarchal constraining structure, the optimal and weak social networks, the strong and vulnerable shields of autopoiesis, and the presence and absence of social capital momentum, followed by a discussion on the the struggle for structuration against breast cancer. The findings demonstrate that countries with a national cancer control program witness local strengthening ‘asabiyya and ‘asabiyya-driven structuration, while those without a national cancer control program witness weakening local ‘asabiyya. Ultimately, this thesis proposes strategic recommendations to accelerate the regional ‘asabiyya-driven structuration of breast cancer.

Bouzoubaa, Mehdi 12 1900 (has links)
This works of research-creation offers practical and theoretical research in the field of experimental cinema. The ntions of self-exposure, performance and materiality will be discussed through the prism of belonging in order to make an autoethnographic approach to the cinematographic medium. The position of artist-student-immigrant that I assume reflects these concepts through an autopoietic practice. The first part of the thesis looks at my need to immigrate. By taking an example from my Moroccan counterparts, such as Ahmed Bouanani, I explain why staying in Morocco risks jeopardizing my practice. The second part aims to dissect a cinematographic entanglement by going back in time to my practice through the cinematographic tools that have shaped my gaze. So, I start to draw an artistic voice. The third part explains the process by which my body as an artist and the cinematographic equipment that I use are coupled in a kind of theoretical-practical back and forth to perform and exhibit. The fourth part is the explanation of an important stage of the research-creation process, which is the awareness expressed by the concretization of the autopoietic process, or by the execution, in the public place, of my approach: showing how I show. Finally, the thesis ends with the proposal of the protocol of my creation, Cinematographic Translation.

Spinola, Ana Tereza Schlaepfer January 2004 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2009-11-18T18:56:20Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2004 / The present paper has the proposal to assess the management process of complex negotiation of the 5th OMC that took place at Cancun from September 10th until the 14th , 2003. This thesis points out the problems and questions that resulted on the collapse of a possible agreement, it also suggest proposal to solve these issues. The future of OMC is uncertain and traumatic changes suffered by many countries that live under the rules of OMC shows that something at OMC will have to change, principally on the process of complex negotiation, such as the integrity of the organization to avoid having to compromise and being damaged. There were searches for answers on the analysis and assessment of the negotiation process, studying and researching the bargain positional concepts, giving full details on the negotiation process based on principIes, exploring profusely the state of art for the management of difficult conversation. This thesis also tackles the sources of conflicts and the building of coalitions such as the G20, showing the difficulty existing in the resolution of public disputes and in the use of instruments to break the impasses. We also defined theoretical instrumental, which allowed the diagnostic ofthe actual situation at OMe. It was recommend to explore the valuation of conflicts, based on justice and equitant, the best form of negotiation by principIes, of management demanding public, on the multi stakeholder dialogue and the importance of informal parallel conversation. The environment of complexity and the extensive vision that it provides to adjust the functioning of autopoietics systems.

Fenomén filmu - informace - společnost / Phenomenon of Film - Information - Society

Vodrážková, Katrin January 2013 (has links)
The dissertation presents an analysis of film and photographic media as two specific information systems. It is based mainly on the system theory of Niklas Luhmann, the basis upon which film is understood as a social system. The phenomenon of film is further developed as an imaging technique in the contemporary information society and electronic culture. The work shows new forms of imaging in film, but also a comparison of imaging techniques in the photographic medium. The goal of the dissertation is to contribute to a more detailed understanding of moving images and to develop the possibilities of film, which has the potential to become a future information system. 'n Konstruktivistiese beskrywing van veranderende persepsies in 'n welsynsorganisasie

Commerford, Sophia Elizabeth Jacoba 11 1900 (has links)
This study focusses on the contrasting thinking patterns of Newtonian thinking and constructivism. The principles of reductionism, neutrality and linear causality on which Newtonian thinking is grounded are compared with circular processes and non objectivity of interrelated elements that are to be found in living systems. The differences in assumptions of personnel in a welfare organisation are investigated through observation of changing processes of thinking that evolved over a period of time. The process of change is discussed by way of a case study. Recognition is given to the systemic orientation where the interactive interrelatedness of elements within the system evolved within changing patterns of thinking. The living system and characteristics of autonomy, autopoiesis, organisation and structure are discussed from a philosophy of constructivism. From this philosophy evolved a process in which realities were created, consensus was reached within the system, and the organisation of the living system was reflected. / Social Work / M.A. (Sosiale Wetenskappe(Geestesgesondheid))
