ABSTRACT The thesis Cognitive Body Enaction, based on the metaphorical transit between individual and collective cognition, is developed in an interdisciplinary qualitative research that takes human cognition theoretical references from Varela, Thompson, Rosch, Lakoff, Johnson and others embodied mind studies and Damásio's conscious mind. Proposing the individual cognition understanding by means of cognitive body enaction idea, explains his constitution, how stands up and actuates. Then, taking some risk, proposes the cognitive body enaction metaphor as an epistemic approach to forms of knowledge construction and dissemination in a community of practice, following Wenger's studies and using the community of practice that maintains the Moodle environment at Federal University of Bahia as locus for action and observation. The cognitive body enaction gives route to this navigation, whose direction is the collective knowledge creation which is socially justified by the knowledge of knowing development.

The role of knowledge management approaches for enhancing and supporting education / Le rôle de la gestion des connaissances : approches visant à accroître l'éducation et de soutien

Alosaimi, Mansour 12 July 2016 (has links)
[...] / In the New Economy characterized by properties such as globalization, intangibility and inter-connectivity, educational organizations are required to overcome the new challenges, especially the changing nature of the enhanced dynamism and complexity of the requirements from the educational organizations. One of the current strategic philosophies assisting educational organizations to develop strategic capabilities dealing with uncertainty is knowledge management (KM). Through the systematic acquisition, creation, sharing, and use of knowledge, organizations develop, renew and exploit their knowledge-based resources, thereby allowing them to be proactive and adaptable to external changes and attain competitive success. Emerging as a powerful means for sustaining organizational competitiveness, KM has been widely investigated from different perspectives. However, only a limited number of researches have adopted the resource based view of the educational organizations to empirically examine the relationships between KM infrastructure and the different strategies for investing human assets. Meanwhile, research on KM approaches from a dynamic capability approach has been mostly conceptual in nature. It is proposed here that a failure to apply KM approaches may hinder the potentially valuable integrated contribution to organizational strategies for enhancing education of the major components that constitute KM approaches. In addition, a review of the literature shows that most empirical evidence has been obtained in the context of developed countries. The possibility that such models might be adopted in educational organizations to fit the specificities of the developing countries has received very little attention to date. Relying on social learning theory extended by the knowledge and dynamic capability based approaches, this research develops an integrative theoretical mode) of KM capability. Empirical examination of the hypothesized relationships among variables is conducted by means of questionnaire surveys in Saudi Arabia. For the pilot study, 30 draft questionnaires were directly distributed to senior managers participating in the Global Knowledge Society Forum 2013 took place in King Abdul Aziz Center for World Culture, ARAMCO Saudi Arabia, during the period of9-10 December 2103. The responses returned with complete data were assessed, using factor analysis and reliability testing, to refine and finalize the questionnaire administered in the main survey.

For this, the chosen research object was the Youth Choir of the Adventist Institute of Education of Santa Catarina. The reference used is based on the concept of community of practice, as proposed by Lave and Wenger (1991), from which the learning occurs from interactions between people who perform the same activity, the practice being primarily responsible for this learning. The work seeks to understand how the musical practice of students encompasses their past and current musical experiences. Then, the study devotes to understanding how social relations between members of the community of practice of the Youth Choir influence the musical development of the singers in order to exchange musical experiences that happen daily in that context. Finally, from the perspective of the interviewed students, the research reflects on musical and extra-musical learning experiences offered by the choir and how this learning occurs, from the social perspective. The results confirm the importance of social interactions as motivators and promoters of musical experiences that result in learning and development, and suggest the use of this resource in music education / Esta dissertação é uma pesquisa do tipo etnográfico que pretende compreender de que forma a interação social pode contribuir para o desenvolvimento e a aprendizagem musical dentro do coral jovem.

Scholarly communication as a situated learning process for PhD students : an exploratory study about publishing as a community of practice / Vetenskaplig kommunikation som situerat lärande för doktorander : en utforskande studie om publicering som en lärandegemenskap

Wennström, Sofie January 2017 (has links)
This master’s thesis aims to explore the practice of becoming a researcher and the learning process embedded in this activity by looking at the communicative practices of PhD students, within the context of academic publishing. It is likely that the way in which these soon-to-be researchers reason about the task of communication is related to their way of approaching their field of research as well as the lived world, which makes it relevant to explore further. The study was performed based two sets of data, first open-ended semi-structured interviews with eleven PhD students at Stockholm University, where they talk about their current situation, their motivations and goals and about how they plan to publish their dissertation. Secondly, an analysis of data about publications focusing on work by PhD students at Stockholm University between 2013–2016, and information about how the intended audience, i.e. the readers, have interacted with the published material. These two sets of data were analysed with the use of theories about personal epistemology, sociocultural learning and the rationality of actions. The study shows that the majority of the PhD students at Stockholm University publishes their research findings as scholarly articles in English. The conclusion is also that the publishing process can be understood as a pedagogical tool, as it provides a vehicle for the PhD students to immerse themselves in their community of practice. These findings suggest that it could be useful to further emphasise the publishing activity as a learning process that may lead to a deeper understanding of the role of the researcher in society.

How to support and enhance communication : in a student software development project / Hur man stöder och förstärker kommunikation : i ett studentdrivet mjukvaruutvecklingsprojekt

Ahlström, Catharina, Fridensköld, Kristina January 2002 (has links)
This report, in which we have put an emphasis on the word communication, is based on a student software development project conducted during spring 2002. We describe how the use of design tools plays a key role in supporting communication in group activities and to what extent communication can be supported and enhanced by tools such as mock-ups and metaphors in a group project. We also describe a design progress from initial sketches to a final mock-up of a GUI for a postcard demo application.

Delaktighet- och lärprocesser i en yrkesutbildning : En studie av vuxna elevers erfarenheter av vård- och omsorgsutbildningen inom Komvux / Participation and learning processes in vocational education : A study of student exeperiences of an adult-education program in health and social care

Lagercrantz All, Katarina January 2017 (has links)
Numerous research on the development of knowledge and skills within health and social care has been undertaken; however, it can be argued that there is a need to understand the connection between inclusion and the development in knowledge and experience.  The purpose of this dissertation is to explore students’ experiences of the health and social care adult- education program, and participation and learning processes it represents.  The program is considered the formal route to acquire a position as a nursing assistant or health care assistant. Furthermore, the program can be seen as a combination of vocational training, and a measure to reduce unemployment. This empirical study is based on 15 in- depth interviews with students in the health and social care adult-education. These interviews are using a hermeneutic interpretation method, and draw on Lave and Wenger`s theory of learning. In addition to sociocultural theory according to Säljö. Findings indicate that the adult-education program in health and social care is not only a training process, but also a participation process. For the students, it is about gaining participation in the professional community, in Swedish society, and also about an existential safety in a social context. In order to gain participation, intellectual and physical artifacts, as well as personal qualities, are a prerequisite. Despite these requirements, and the challenges students face, the findings reveal that most students continue their studies. This finding leads to the idea that health and social care can be understood a discipline of inclusion. These findings assist the health and social care field in understanding the connection between said artifacts for inclusion in working life and society; in addition, that such programs should be understood from a wider perspective and viewed in relation to the tension between three educational projects: the students` individual project, the program organizer’s project and the national, societal education project.

Contribution à l'étude du travail documentaire des enseignants de mathématiques : les incidents comme révélateurs des rapports entre documentations individuelle et communautaire / Contribution to the study of documentational work of mathematics teachers : the incidents as indicative of the relationship between individual and community documentation

Sabra, Hussein 07 December 2011 (has links)
The present thesis treats the relation between the individual and community documentation of mathematics teachers. The study was carried out in two contrasting fields. The first field consists of an institutional community: mathematics teachers of a high school, whose classrooms are simultaneously equipped with complex technology; the second field consists of an associative community: a working group of Sésamath association that designs a digital Textbook for the grade 10. In the two cases, we are interested in the teaching of calculus, because of the importance and complexity of this mathematical field in high school. The thesis proposes new theoretical concepts (visions, teacher's world, and community world) and methodological developments to capture individual and community documentations in their structure, their dynamics and their interactions. It highlights, in the two fields of study, critical moments of these processes, documentary incidents, which appear as both revealing and accelerators. It demonstrates the potential these incidents have to develop articulations, global or local, between individual and community documentations

Learning Management Systems as a Tool for Community-based Project Management

Mohamed, Bahaaeldin, Köhler, Thomas January 2009 (has links)
This paper addresses a new conceptual framework for a communitybased project management learning model that aims to support learning within a project and enhance the distribution of knowledge within a particular virtual community. This model also aims to develop a virtual community of doctoral students, who can manage their own projects online with other community members who have the same interest. In order to develop that model, a checklist of community-based project management process has been developed in the light of the literature review and the needs of stakeholders (doctoral students and researchers). Within this model, community-based project management includes three main elements: community, project and management. In relation to project, there are two main sub elements. First is projectbased learning (PBL), which is based on constructivist perspective of learning that make students construct their knowledge when they work together to accomplish specific goals. Second is the project management body of knowledge (PMBOK), which is a project management guide, and an internationally recognized standard [PMBOK Guide, 2004], that provides the fundamentals of project management as they apply to a wide range of projects, including construction, software, engineering, automotive, so the study deploy this approach to scaffold based project management learning model. In the terms of the community element, this study adopted the community of inquiry model, which defines a good e-learning environment through three major aspects: cognitive presence, social presence and teaching presence. The last element which is addressed in this study called knowledge management. After identifying these elements, this study investigates a range of tools in the light of this model. The study analyses six different learning and content management systems (OPAL, Moodle, Joomla, e107, ZMS and TUDWCMS) in order to find out tool(s) that is/are sufficient for implementing the suggested study model.

Převod mluvních aktů ohrožujících tvář na příkladu simultánního tlumočení projevů v Evropském parlamentu / The transfer of face-threatening acts in simultaneous interpreting of speeches from the European Parliament

Pohludková, Alena January 2020 (has links)
This theoretical-empirical paper researches how simultaneous interpreters work with face threatening acts (FTAs). For this purpose we researched how FTAs that we identified in speeches given by native Spanish speakers at the European Parliament's plenary sittings are interpreted into Czech and English. This paper has been inspired by the study of Cédric Magnifico and Bart Defrancq from the University of Ghent "Impoliteness in Interpreting: A Question of Gender?" in which they carry out a similar research. In their study the authors research the simultaneous interpretation of French speeches given at the European Parliament's plenary sittings into English and Dutch in order to find out whether interpreters really engage in face work - by face work they mean mitigating (potential) FTAs. In this paper, however, we aimed at answering a more general research question: "How do simultaneous interpreters handle face threatening acts when interpreting at the European Parliament's plenaries?" Researching the interpretation of FTAs into two target languages, moreover, can show whether face work is influenced by the cultural norms used in the community of the target language. Even though some of our findings come close to those of Magnifico and Defrancq's, some are considerably different. Magnifico and...
