Juhlin, Eva January 2009 (has links)

Larsson, Job January 2023 (has links)

The computerisation of the genealogist's sources : what genealogical societies do and how they view the phenomenon

Boström, Linda January 2000 (has links)
The purpose of this MA thesis is to examine the computerisation of sources that are of interest to genealogists. The primary focus of the thesis is an empirical study, by using a questionnaire addressed to 118 genealogical societies in Sweden, in order to find out what kind of computerisation is being performed by these genealogical societies and what their opinion is of the computerisation of sources of interest to genealogists. The result of this questionnaire has shown, together with printed and electronic material, that there is a good deal of interest from genealogical societies in the computerisation of sources. About half of the genealogical societies who answered the questionnaire are computerising sources themselves and the societies have a positive view in general of the computerisation that is being done and of the increased usage of modern information technology in genealogy. There are on the other hand certain issues that are being discussed such as the important question of the quality of the computerised material. In this thesis the computerisation of public sources of interest to genealogists as a means to strengthen democracy by making public material, culture and the cultural heritage available to more people, and how genealogical societies can be seen as partakers in this process, is also discussed. Furthermore the attitudes of genealogical societies towards the computerisation of sources is seen in relation to the attitudes of people in general to new technology and to the concrete advantages and disadvantages of certain aspects of modern information technology. / Uppsatsnivå: D

Den främsta förändringen i vardagsarbetet : en studie av bibliotekariers syn på förändring och stabilitet i arbetet / The greatest change in daily work : a study concerning librarians’ experience of change and stability in work

Jansson, Emmelie January 2007 (has links)
The main purpose of this Master’s thesis is to examine what librarians in seven public libraries experience as major change in their work tasks. We are also interested in exploring how these changes influence librarians’ ways of working. In addition to this we want to explore if librarians have experienced change in relation to user’s expectations and demands and if so, how they are met. Finally, we examine if there are work tasks that have not been influenced by change. We have chosen to do qualitative interviews with librarians who have been working since the 1970’s and therefore may be expected to have developed perspectives on change in work tasks. This is complemented with a literature study. The theoretical framework is based on Robert D. Stueart and Barbara B. Moranses theory of how change influences organisations. The theoretical framework is also based on Bo Ahrenfelt’s theory of how an organization accomplishes change. According to our informants, computerization has been the main change in their working tasks. All of the informants experience computerization as a positive factor. However, there are work tasks that have not been affected by computerization, for example providing the library with books.Computerization has facilitated both librarians’ possibilities to satisfy users’ expectations and demands and to carry out their work tasks more efficiently. However, librarians’ experiences are that their work tasks as such have basically remained unchanged. / Uppsatsnivå: D

"The clinical eye" : constructing and computerizing an anesthesia patient record

Beckerman, Carina January 2006 (has links)
The overall purpose in this research has been to investigate what happens when somebody or something intervenes in a knowledge worker´s every-day life. Empirically, the author has chosen to explore how an anesthesia patient record is constructed to be what it becomes and then computerized and the implications of this for the anesthesist and the anesthesia nurse. The research takes place among a group of people that call themselves emergency people. Some of them think that the art of the performance will be at risk if the anesthesia patient record is computerized. The author has used a theoretical framework integrating ideas about knowledge management with concepts from structuration theory and theories about sensemaking, representations and schema use. Integrating knowledge management with structuration theory makes it possible to capture the complexity of what takes place when a knowledge worker shuttles between transformation and routine in an organizational setting in the knowledge society. “The clinical eye” emerges as a concept that influences how an anesthesist searches for information, how knowledge is exercised in anesthesia and how a patient record should be designed. The author concludes that the clinical eye is a central concept for understanding how an anesthesist exercises his or her knowledge, how the content of a patient record is constructed and designed and how reactions to a changed evolve. The author introduces two concepts “knowledge structuring” and “knowledge domination” that are considered important and interrelated. Exercising knowledge is a structured activity. In our heads we make plans for what to do, how to do it and what to do next. When an organizational setting is structured the knowledge that is exercised in this setting also becomes structured. An anesthesist exercises the practice of anesthesia in a structured order in a certain space during a certain time-period. When upgrading and computerizing the anesthesia patient record, both a transformation and an additional structuring of how knowledge is exercised take place. The question then becomes how this new structuring influences the practice of performing anesthesia. In addition to this the author theorizes that if the computerized patient record is conceptualized as a knowledge management system the way it is used changes. Many more services are included, and it is not “just” a patient record anymore. / Diss. Stockholm : Handelshögskolan i Stockholm, 2006

IT i bilen : En fallstudie av ubikvitär datorisering

Gyllhamn, Noel, Jonsson, Klas January 2012 (has links)
This paper aims to study the possibilities and challenges the car industry has to face with applying information technology in cars. The goal is to describe and analyse all the existing technology in the cars out on the market today as well as future possible technologies in cars. By interviewing people who has been working or are working with information technology in cars, we aim to clarify the obstacles and opportunities in the process of implementing informatics in cars. With this knowledge we want to learn more about Ubiquitous computing and how humans interact with Ubiquitous computers today and will be interacting in the future. Technology has a rapid development pace and we find it interesting to examine how the car industry can keep up with the rapid development pace of technology.

Bill, Andreas January 2006 (has links)

Location-based services (LBS) contains of services helping users of finding positions of themselves or other objects. LBS applications can present information in varies types of ways, these could be threw speech, text, geographic symbols, photos etc. Not many studies have been done to examine the aspects of LBS communication and there is a demand for user and context centered mapping.

The purpose of this report is to present a model for the development of user and context based services. The model will give guide lines of recommendations when implementing LBS. The different technologies that support LBS will also be noticed. I will also discuss if LBS can be supported of privacy. This thesis will include discussions on laws when dealing with LBS. Complications of implementing the technique will be addressed.

For this study I will use Järvinens (2004) methodology guidelines from the book “On research methods”.

In the conclusion you can read distinguish guide lines that I have set up for development of LBS. To answer the problem formulation stated earlier I have made a division of three aspects that define usage of LBS: Standardization, usability and privacy.
/

Metoden i denna rapport följer många av Järvinens ”On research methods” (2004) anvisningar.
