Previous issue date: 2015-06-30 / This dissertation presents a critical study on the movie ?Black God, White Devil?(1964), by the filmmaker Glauber Rocha born in Bahia State, and the way it is approached in the contemporay sertanejo cinema, specifically in the movies ??rido Movie? and ?Perfumed Ball? directed by Paulo Caldas and L?rio Ferreira, both from Pernambuco State. The research takes into consideration the context in which the movie ?Black God, White Devil? was created, its esthetic and discursive basis, its proposal for a collective popular memory revival focusing on the facts intrinsic to life in Canudos backlands, especially the canga?o (social banditry) and messianism and the clash the movie shows between the people?s version about these facts and the version found in official history books. It discusses how the speakability and visibility of an insular , mythical and sacralized sert?o as the epicenter of a national identity and liberating revolt found in ?Black God, White Devil? appear in the movies ??rido Movie? and ?Perfumed Ball? in a roundabout way, which show asert?o and a sertanejo torn between the dialogue with tradition and post-modernity.

Augustus, Justinian, and the Artistic Transformation of the Roman Emperor.Rupley, Zachary Scott 09 May 2009 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this thesis project is to discuss and describe the transformation of the image of Roman Emperor through artistic representation and cultural demonstration. The ultimate goal is to determine why the presentation of the office changed so greatly. I have selected certain works of art depicting the first Roman Emperor, Gaius Octavian Caesar, best known as Augustus, and Justinianus, the greatest Roman Emperor. More than 500 years separates these two men, whose only connection, at first sight, is that both served as Roman Emperor. I will analyze each piece of art, discuss its history, determine what each piece represents and discuss the cosmetics of the Emperor in the work. Once both Emperors have been dissected artistically, I intend to answer the question of why the office of Roman Emperor changed so thoroughly over 500 years by observing cultural and world developments between the first and sixth centuries of the Common Era.

[pt] O PROFANO DO SAGRADO: ANÁLISE DA TERRITORIALIDADE DA POLÍTICA DE REPRESENTAÇÃO DE AGENTES EVANGÉLICOS NO RIO DE JANEIRO / [en] THE PROFANE OF SACRAD: ANALYSIS OF TERRITORIAITY OF REPRESENTATION POLITICS OF EVANGELICAL AGENTS IN RIO DE JANEIROMARCELLE DA SILVA DE SOUZA 23 December 2021 (has links)
[en] In recent decades, Brazil has shown characteristics of a change in the structure of religiosity, with traditional religions losing adherents to ascendant religions. Currently, this transitional movement is more evident with the loss of faith in Catholicism and the gain of faith in the Assembly of God. The phenomenon, however, stands out in areas beyond the religious, spreading through institutional politics, through the electoral process. This action in the political way is seen by the media and by society as a risk to democracy and social diversity. Therefore, through the analysis of the electoral process, through the territoriality of political action, and parliamentary actions, this research aimed to identify the foundations of fear. The analysis consisted of verifying the performance of two councilors, in the 10th legislature of the city of Rio de Janeiro, linked to two fragmentations of the traditional Assembly of God. They are Eliseu Kessler, linked to the Assembly of God Ministry Madureira and Alexandre Isquierdo, linked to the Vitória em Cristo Assembly of God. To investigate the fundamentals and potential of the issue, the polling places and confluences between the spatiality of the churches were analyzed in order to verify whether the election of representatives was an institutional investment or not; in addition to laws and bills authored by parliamentarians, in order to verify possible losses to democratic values from these administrations.

[pt] A MÍSTICA CRISTÃ COMO PRESENÇA DE DEUS NA OBRA DE FULTON SHEEN / [en] MYSTICISM AS THE PRESENCE OF GOD IN THE WORK OF FULTON SHEENTHIAGO MARIZ ESTEVES DE SOUZA 06 May 2024 (has links)
Assim, a presença histórica do Ser
[en] The present research, entitled Mysticism as the presence of God in the work of Fulton Sheen, seeks to reflect on the life and work of the American bishop, philosopher and theologian, Fulton Sheen (1895-1979), in the light of his reflection on mysticism Christian. Starting from a philosophical critique of modern religion and the current eclipse of God, the author questions the absence of God and proposes a reinterpretation of the Christ event, in the mystery of his incarnation-death-resurrection, to substantiate the definitive presence of God in the world and in history. The presence of Christ, according to Fulton Sheen, has its extension in the Mystical Body of Christ, the Church. Thus, the historical presence of the Being of Christ, through the Church, makes possible a true mystical experience, not of ecstasy, but of a loving, humanizing and deifying encounter.

Nesta pesquisa,
[en] Among the various corpora of the New Testament, special emphasis is
given to the Johannine corpus, as it is the only one with several literary genres:
gospel, letters and apocalypse. The Gospel, even with its differences in style,
symbolism, chronology, geography, vocabulary and theology, offers the thematic
block of the resurrection (Jn 20), containing reports of the appearances of the Risen
one. In this research, the appearance of the resurrected Jesus in John 20:24-29
stands out, highlighting Thomas s profession of faith (v.28), analyzing it in its Old
Testament basis (Ps 35(34):23), through a historical survey with scholars, also using
the process of textual critical analysis, in the literary, semantic and morphological
spheres, as well as rhetorical elements and the use of the Semitic Biblical Rhetorical
Analysis method, ending with an exegetical-theological commentary on the
mentioned pericope.

Brazilian neo-pentecostal movement : development and distinctions with a missiological case analysis of the Igreja Universal Do Reino De Deus and its impact on Brazilian societyBledsoe, David Allen 14 June 2010 (has links)
The Brazilian Neo-Pentecostal Movement has impressively spread throughout the country in the past two decades and significantly diversified the evangelical landscape in the nation. Churches affiliated with the movement comprise the fastest growing segment in Brazilian evangelicalism and their adherents make up an estimated forty-two percent of the Pentecostal camp.
The Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD, Universal Church of the Kingdom of God) is the most well-known denomination to come out of the movement and possibly the largest contemporary missionary export from a third-world nation. Therefore, the missiological case analysis centers on the IURD to determine if it has actually facilitated or inhibited the successful evangelization of Brazilian society. Published documents by the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization and evangelical scholars who are in general agreement with the Lausanne Movement provide sound criteria for the evangelical mission assessment.
In the first chapter, I present preliminary details concerning Brazilian Neo-Pentecostalism and the IURD, the research question, a literature review, and rational for the project. The second chapter documents the development of Brazilian Pentecostalism from its inception to the
3
present third-wave movement. Chapter three surveys aspects of the IURD: its founder and principal leader, controversies and criticisms around the denomination, ecclesiastical organization, principal ministry outlet, primary message, and expansion. The fourth chapter explores factors that have facilitated the IURD‟s growth and integration in Brazilian society. The fifth chapter analyzes certain features of the IURD to determine if it has promoted or deterred the evangelization of Brazilian society; areas for consideration include soteriological tenets, certain aspects related to worldview, fellowship dynamics, the importance of financial giving, and societal interaction. The last chapter recaps the thesis‟ content, summarizes a response to the research question, and elaborates on the implications that the findings mean for evangelical mission.
Through the contents herein, mission researchers and the global church can better comprehend the IURD‟s complexity, teachings, strategies, and practices and begin to understand its impact on evangelical mission. Furthermore, pastors and parishioners can effectively serve potential, current, and former adherents of the IURD and similar churches. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / D.Th.
