This work sets out to address a specific school situation philosophy of teaching in order to identify and analyze to what extent is the perception of the contribution to human emancipation of philosophy classes taught by me in the training process of high school in a particular public school São Paulo, from the perspective of the educator and the student himself (graduates), giving voice to the main subjects involved. For this study were heard young graduates from public schools who have completed High school in 2011, taking as empirical reference sample made up of seven (7) students coming from one (1) Public School high school, the north of the city of São Paulo. Proceeded in its theoretical time by readings from literature sources, and its empirical moment, used If the statements of the subjects, which were collected through semi structured interviews, whose records were categorized and analyzed in the light of theoretical references. The category of human emancipation is appropriate conceptual universe of Adorno's thought, particularly its Education and Emancipation work, supported by contributions from Brazilian thinkers who have worked in the light of this thought (Pucci, Zuin, Deina, Quintal) as well as others which, while not this direct link, we affirm the emancipatory character of philosophy in the education of adolescents in high school (Saviani, Severino, Gallo). It was concluded that despite the contradictions that high school is facing at present and although lie and act in a contradictory field as the School, it is clear the important role played by Philosophy discipline in training young people, although its scope, by account a number of variables, is limited. Nevertheless, the emancipatory role is perceived and internalized by the subjects, in that it provides a reflection on concepts and themes that permeate the debate on contemporary issues.

Challenges to sustainabilityeducation in Swedish construction programmes : Using sustainability evaluation of university programmes and interviews with programme directors in Swedish universities.

Garud, Pranav January 2020 (has links)
Construction is an investment intensive industry which has been notoriouslyknown to be cost and time ineffective. Further, the construction industry isknown to be the world’s largest resource utilizer and the largest polluter.Hence sustainability in construction is necessary.Since Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) are one of the most importantstakeholders in construction, this research aims to determine the sustainabilityaspects taught in Swedish construction programmes. On comparing the aimsand outcomes of all construction courses to the United Nations SustainableDevelopment Goals (SDGs), this research found that Swedish constructioneducation programmes lack political and social sustainability in theirconstruction curricula. Further, this research investigates the challenges toimparting sustainability education due to present research andpedagogical/teaching methods. Data to investigate the results was collectedthrough interviews with programme directors from various SwedishUniversities. The findings of this research show a connection between practical application, research and traditional education. Further, the factors affecting research andpedagogy are also inter-related and convoluted. A large cause and effectnetwork arising due to the interplay of the factors is addressed in thediscussions section. This thesis finds that sustainable development inconstruction requires development of sustainability evaluation methods as wellas combined efforts from various stakeholders and professions.

MOTIVATION och LÄRANDE sonderingar kring TVÅLÄRARSKAPET / Motivation and Learning inquiries about Co-teaching

Reichardt, Eugen Sebastian January 2023 (has links)
This thesis was based on a qualitative and empirical study. The objective was to discover which theories and factors could contribute to students' motivation and learning, and how teachers active in the teaching of science subjects see the possibilities of being able to influence this. A very important aspect of the study revolves around the question of "co-teaching"; which in short means that two teachers work in parallel in the classroom. Do teachers working according to this method have an opportunity to facilitate and encourage the learning and motivation? Are there any downsides? In addition to the contact with one of the most outspoken Swedish professionals behind the educational method of co-teaching, in-depth interviews with a total of six teachers are used, as well as discussions and two more extensive interviews with common students as a basis. The study has found that among the most important theories to promote motivation and learning were the theories of Self-Efficacy, Social Relations, Expectations and Values, and Intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation. Co-teaching may be related to the Social Relationship theory, which could have implications for its impact on motivation and learning.

The evolution of tales in Europe and George Sand's work throughout the K-12 curriculum

O'Brien, Maria Teresa 01 January 2009 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the evolution of tales in Europe, particularly in France, from the late l 7lli through the l 9lli century, specifically George Sand's work, in an effort to research instructional applications for cross-curricular foreign language instruction. Institutional fairy tales originated in Italy. The creation of a new genre of literature inspired many writers in Europe to imitate the Neapolitan and Venetian fairy tales of Gianbattista Basile as well as Giovan Francesco Straparola. In the late 17TH and 18TH centuries, in France, the first fairy tales were published, which have remained well known up to the 2I st century. In the 18TH century, Mme Leprince de Beaumont institutionalized fairy tales for children by omitting irony and unnecessary variants in her stories for children. In the 19th century, the Grimm Brothers adapted French and Italian fairy tales to their own language for a young German audience. Most French tales were also translated into English. From the 17TH to 19th centuries, fairy tales permitted women to reach a certain degree of freedom intellectually by expressing social and political concerns depicting their discarded society in the stories. Since fairy tales were not to be believed and not to be taken seriously, women could express themselves freely without been reprimanded, George Sand, a 19th century French author, contributed to the French Romantic period as well as to social and political sectors with her work. At the end of her life, George Sand wrote Tales of a Grandmother dedicated to her grandchildren. Ten out of thirteen stories are analyzed in this thesis in terms of characters, themes, and moral lessons. In Chapter Four, a curriculum is created based on the ten analyzed tales of Sand's Tales of a Grandmother. The curriculum addresses essential questions and activities to be taught in a French curriculum as well as cross-curricular. Chapter Five expands on the cross-curricular guidelines by providing activities based on Tales of a Grandmothers. In addition, a complete lesson plan on the "The Castle of Pictordu" tale is added in Appendix A. This lesson can be taught not only in French but in an interdisciplinary curriculum.

The role of religious education in the promotion of girls' educational rights in peri-urban schools : a case study of Chingola District in Zambia

Musongole, Dyless Witola 06 1900 (has links)
The study investigates the role of religious education in the promotion of girls’ educational rights in peri-urban schools in Chingola district, Zambia. Fifteen schools were involved in the study and are all in the outskirts of Chingola town. Data was collected through oral interviews, questionnaires and observations. Questionnaires were given to 260 girls ranging from grade 5 to 9. Five questionnaires were distributed to each class. Besides the school girls, six instructresses were interviewed on cultural beliefs and practices that hinder girls’ progress in education. In addition, 15 teachers were also interviewed specifically to identify topics in Religious Education and their relevance in the promotion of self-confidence and self-esteem among girls as well as various teaching methods which promote learner-centredness. The Religious Education curriculum at primary, secondary and college levels of education was evaluated to assess its relevance to the promotion of girls’ education. Furthermore, contributions by some Non-Governmental Organisations and Religious Education towards gender equity in education and the Zambian government policy on gender were highlighted. The findings of the study were in four categories namely: cultural beliefs and practices that hinder girls’ progress in education, other problems affecting girl-child education besides cultural norms, freedom to enable girls to make their own constructive decisions, and topics in Religious Education which have the potential to promote self-confidence and self-esteem among the girls. The cultural beliefs and practices highlighted were the initiation ceremonies, early pregnancies and early marriages. The other problems hindering girls’ progress and advancement which came out vividly were long distances from home to school, poverty, boys jeering at girls when they got wrong answers and household chores. Further findings identified topics in Religious Education and their relevance towards the promotion of girls’ educational rights despite the influence of cultural beliefs and practices in the peri-urban schools. Some of the topics were ‘Advantages of having a friend’ taught in grade 1, ‘Growing in responsibility’ taught in grade 2, ‘Bravery and courage’ taught in grade 4, ‘Happiness’ taught in grade 5, ‘Development and co-operation’ taught in grade 6, ‘Marriage and family life’ taught in grade 7, ‘How people make choices’ taught in grade 8, ‘The talents people have’ taught in grade 8, ‘How people develop’ and ‘How religion helps people’ taught in grade 8, ‘Freedom and community’ as well as ‘Ambitions and hopes’ taught in grade 9. In conclusion, the research study has revealed that Religious Education as a subject has the potential to promote the girls’ educational rights and advancement in the peri-urban schools. Other subjects taught like Mathematics, Science and Technology are experimental subjects. They were rigid and cannot be bent while Religious Education leaves room for freedom in making concrete decisions. It deals also with emotions, values, and feelings. Mathematics imposes the facts without query. / Religious Studies / M.A. (Religious studies)

Vzdělávání rodičů v problematice drogové závislosti dětí - projekt kvantitativního průzkumu / Educating Parents in Children's Drug Addiction Problems - A Quantitative Survey Project

Hojerová, Eva January 2011 (has links)
The focus of the thesis is on drug addiction prevention in families. Education in the family is seen here as one of the key factors preventing substance addiction. In my work, I emphasize the need to inform and educate parents in this area and put forward solutions in the form of the project "Educating Parents in Children's Drug Addiction Problems". The purpose of the project is to publish a handbook for parents titled "Do You Know About Drugs What Your Child Does?" The publication will provide parents with basic information about drug addiction. In addition to theoretical knowledge about drugs, parents will also be offered practical advice and guidance on how to prevent potential problems with drugs in their children, on how to react when they learn about the child's experimentation with drugs and, last, but not least, how to act in the situation when they find out that their child is already drug-addicted. Prior to writing the handbook, quantitative survey of parents has been undertaken to map the situation in the area of drug addiction prevention in families. The aim is to include the results of the survey in the handbook in such a way that, e.g., its text, in some parts, will give details to the explanation of the problematic phenomena exposed by the survey. The survey is one part of an entire...

Representações sociais e a construção da consciência histórica. / Social representations and the construction of historical consciousness.

Alves, Ronaldo Cardoso 03 May 2006 (has links)
This research has the aim to study the forming of historical consciousness in elementary school students, starting from the discovery/confrontation of the different knowledge backgrounds resulting from common sense and the Science of History itself, through the analysis of the social representations made by their subjects: students and teachers. The use of the ethnography-inspired research method, added to alternative quantitative tools employed in studies with both pupils and teachers in the outskirts of São Paulo´s elementary and high schools, provided the understanding of the social setup in those communities, in the view of Serge Moscovici´s social representation theory and the Jörn Rüsen´s historical consciousness concept. Based on this both theoretical and empirical approach, this thesis intends to comprehend the (local and global) double-dimensioned influence of the quotidian life on forming students´ social representations, and their possible changes, or reproductions, after the process of the teaching of History in the school environment with the purpose of promoting (or not) historical consciousness in practical life. Finally, starting from the analysis of the comparison between students´ and teachers´ social representations, coming from the perception of the History teaching substantive concept, this thesis suggests the debate and the socialization of these different representations in the school environment as a possibility of construction of the historical consciousness and a better approach of History teaching in learners´ practical life.

Civís i Zaragoza, Mireia 13 July 2005 (has links)
EnglishThe main objective of this thesis consists in analyzing and interpreting what is the meaning of a socioeducational Community Development comprehension. The first part of this research (theoretical framework) focuses on the key concepts for the subsequent comprehension of the subject matter. Specifically, it approaches the understanding of education, the processes and references of Community Development, and the praxis of education in the community context. The second part of this research (field work) starts with an introduction to City Educational Projects in Catalonia. After that, we explain what we understand as a socioeducationally-based Community Development model. To do so, we propose a set of categorised variables and attributes. Furthermore, we design and implement a series of instruments based on the variables proposed. These allow us to collect data in order to analyze and to interpret the sociocommunity and socioeducational action model that underlies in a sample of three City Educational Projects we selected previously. In the third part of the research (final conclusions), we conclude that, while City Educational Projects match the socioeducational model from the theoretical perspective, it is not the same from the practical point of view. In addition to that, we establish a proposal of working lines.
