Våldsutsatta vuxna kvinnors upplevelser av att möta hälso- och sjukvårdspersonal : En litteraturstudie / Abused adult women’s experiences of meeting healthcare professionals : A literature review

Ekblom, Fia, Nigelius, Frida January 2022 (has links)
Background: Intimate partner violence against women is a public health problem, both globally and in Sweden. Healthcare is considered to be that instance were abused women primarily seeks help. This means that nurses, regardless of workplace, probably will meet abused women. To be able to respond and provide person-centered care and a feeling of safety, it is important to illustrate how the abused woman experiences the encounter with healthcare professionals. Aim: Identify how abused adult women experiences the meeting with healthcare professionals. Method: A general literature study in which 10 articles were examined and analyzed with a thematic analysis. Result: Feelings of beeing diminished and not taken seriously were identified. Feelings of guilt, shame and embarrassment were increased by the actions of healthcare professionals. This contributed to women hesitating or refraining from seeking help. Many women felt that the focus was on treating physical injuries, while their mental health was prioritized secondarily. Women stated that helathcare did not ask them about domestic violence. It was important that the question was asked in the right way and at the right time. Conclusion: Abused women experience deficiencies in meeting with healthcare professionals. With their treatment, nurses and other healthcare professionals can create a better experience of care for these women.

Feeling pulled in different directions: a humanbecoming inquiry

Tschanz, Coby L. 29 April 2019 (has links)
This dissertation presents a Parsesciencing study of the universal humanuniverse living experience of feeling pulled in different directions. Concept inventing reveals feeling pulled in different directions as pondering inspirations surfaces with desire amid tenuous integrity in a whirling inertia of possibility. Personal foreknowings illuminate feeling pulled in different directions as aw(e)ful delight surfaces with the struggles of taking a bearing along an unfolding, diverging way. Stories of ten historians, as presented and heuristically interpreted through several levels of abstraction, reveal feeling pulled in different directions as constrained vigor surfaces with wavering amid cherished potentials which is transmogrified as restricted endeavoring surfaces with capricious yearning. Core ideas of constrained vigor and wavering with cherished potentials are discussed in relation to extant literature. To inspire future inquiry, new knowings of this Parsesciencing are discussed in relation to nursing education, research, and care. / Graduate / 2022-12-31

Such a Deal of Wonder: Structures of Feeling and Performances of The Winter's Tale from 1981 to 2002

Burt, Elizabeth Marie 11 July 2005 (has links) (PDF)
Structures of feeling represent the interaction between personal lived experience and fixed social values and meanings, which are found in interpretations of works of art. Studying various interpretations of any play in performance can provide a point of access into a culture because the choices made in the production can be compared to each other and to the written text and then reveal how the theatrical company views particular issues within their own time period. This study looks at productions of The Winter's Tale between 1981 and 2002 at the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Using numerous versions of this play not only increases the depth of our understanding of the play but also reveals how the actors and directors interact with British culture. Each production reveals a director's vision for the production as well as his or her own experience within the culture. Some issues and ideas that are reflected in these interpretations include both optimism and cynicism with regard to the political situation and public figures, an increase in spectacle, and secularization.

Magkänsla och konsten att fatta beslut : En undersökning av finansiella beslut / Gut Feeling and the Art of Decision-Making

Bellange Aviles, Leonardo January 2022 (has links)
Financial decisions made on gut feeling are one of the fundamental financial approaches. Decisions made on the wrong premises can lead to financial losses. By making the right decision based on the right premises, the results can be desirable. There are many theories and models to explain decision making. Although there are many theories, these are mainly divided into two types, normative theory and descriptive theory. The normative supports rational decision-making, the latter how people make decisions. Both of these theories reflect reality, even descriptive theory seeks a certain level of rationality in actual decision-making. The study was carried out using a qualitative method, where the data was based on interviews with seven decision-makers who make some form of financial decision. The analysis of this survey showed that gut feeling is something the surveyed respondents used in decisions, sometimes arbitrary and sometimes with a strong underlying basis of rational thinking. The essay can show that gut feeling according to the concept of the theory is variable depending on the area of knowledge. Instead, it can be emphasized that it is used in a variety of situations. The conclusion showed that there are too many definitions, distinctions and basic conditions that had to be sorted out first before the question could be answered in its entirety, as the question could not be answered in a reasonably concise manner for ten weeks. The study showed that gut feeling and financial decision making are nevertheless used according to the theory and in this study.

Professionella i den privata sfären : En kvalitativ studie om emotioner och emotionella reglers roll vid hembesök i team / Professionals in the private sphere : A qualitative study of emotions and the role of emotional rules during home visits in teams

Olsson, Stina, Åström Göransson, Wilhem January 2022 (has links)
In Sweden, new parents are always offered a visit from a child health care nurse. Usually the home visit takes place with only the child health care nurse. In a smaller municipality in Sweden, a decision has been made that home visits should take place in teams. The team consists of a child health care nurse and a representative from the Social Services. The aim of this study is to explore the role of emotions and emotional rules in meetings between parents, child health care nurses and representatives from the Social Services that take place in a home environment. The study also aims to investigate how emotions are shaped by the professional role (as child health care nurse and Social Services representative) as well as the place (the home of the parents). The data in the study has been gathered through a qualitative research method and eight interviews were conducted with child health care nurses as well as representatives from the Social Services. The data has been analyzed through sociology of emotions as well as Goffman's dramaturgical perspective. The results of the study shows that emotional rules and professional emotional rules are most present in the emotional labour that child health care nurses and representatives from the Social Services perform at home visits in teams. The professionals strive to convey and provide security to the new parents by adhering to emotional rules and professional emotional rules. Furthermore, it appears that the professional role and the place are of great importance for the role of emotions during home visits. Given that the meeting takes place in the private sphere of the home means that the professionals refrain from ending up in a discussion with the parents. However, they feel more comfortable having that kind of discussion at the health center.

Strangers on the British soil : Horrors and hopes of asylum seekers in the film His House

Paananen, Henna January 2022 (has links)
This thesis is a close reading of the horror film His House (2020) and has its theoretical base in the works of Sara Ahmed. It focuses on the emotional experience of the film’s lead characters who are South Sudanese asylum seekers in the United Kingdom. The study is set out to chart which emotions the characters feel, which of them are the most overpowering and what does the presence of these emotions imply about the asylum experience. Close reading shows that feelings typically understood as negative are dominant – guilt being particularly present as it is tied to the film’s monster. The thesis argues that the film calls for attention to asylum seekers’ mental health through showing the horrors experienced by the heavily traumatized lead couple. The study also argues that horror fiction is a window to public anxieties, and as such offers a valuable research avenue to ethnic and migration studies as well as social sciences at large.

Study of the subjective sense of loneliness and adaptability in students

О., Dubinina, N. O. January 2018 (has links)
The aim of the study is to study the nature of the relationship between psychological solitude and adaptability among students. Object of research: psychological loneliness and adaptation. The subject of the study: the relationship of subjective feelings of loneliness and adaptability in students. For the empirical study, methods were used, such as: E.N. Osin and D.A. Leontiev "Differential questionnaire of the experience of loneliness", SG. Korchagin "Questionnaire for determining the kind of loneliness", K. Rogers, R. Diamond "The methodology of diagnosis of socio-psychological adaptation". As a result of the study, it was found that the predominant types of loneliness, in the group of subjects, are alienated and dissociated loneliness; the adaptability index for the sample is in the normal range, without deviation towards low values; in the group, two subgroups of psychologically "lonely" and "neodinokih" students were identified. Reliable differences between "lonely" and "neodinokimi" students on the characteristics of adaptability were revealed in all characteristics of socio-psychological adaptation according to K. Rogers. Their presence confirmed our hypothesis of the existence of a relationship between the subjective sense of loneliness and the indicators of adaptability. As a result of the correlation analysis, the "lonely" and "non-regular" students had different correlation links between the general sense of loneliness and the parameters of K. Rogers and R. Diamond's adaptability. These differences in correlation relationships in the groups of "single" and "non-regular" students, allow us to conclude that our hypothesis has been confirmed, namely, the adaptability of the individual and her subjective sense of loneliness are really interrelated, and this relationship is inverse.

Socioeconomic Status and Individual Decision Making

Kazemekaityte, Austeja 08 November 2021 (has links)
Socioeconomic disparities in life outcomes is a widely observed occurrence. In particular, low socioeconomic status (SES) has been related to a variety of behaviours that tend to perpetuate or even exacerbate the conditions that individuals of such social standing are already facing. The last two decades have been marked by a growing number of studies seeking to disentangle behavioural differences associated with one’s socioeconomic status that fuel the persistence of these differences. This Doctoral thesis joins the discussion by investigating a subset of behaviours associated with low SES. Three empirical chapters and one literature review seeks to answer the following questions: first, what are the consumer behaviour patterns exhibited by low SES individuals? Second, how do poverty-related thoughts influence consumption of (un)taxed temptation goods? Third, what is the effect of perceived individual control on intertemporal preferences? And fourth, how does salient socioeconomic status affect intertemporal choices regarding effort? Chapter 1 overviews literature on socioeconomic status and consumer happiness. We discuss channels through which low SES can impact consumption decisions and present main behavioural patterns of low SES consumers. Low SES has been found to have a significant impact on dietary patterns that include consumption of fruits and vegetables, foods with high calorie content, as well as consumption of temptation goods like alcohol, tobacco, and sugar-sweetened beverages. Moreover, low SES individuals also tend to engage in status-signalling behaviours, despite the scarcity of financial resources. We discuss how SES can delineate consumer happiness, in particular, regarding experiential and material goods. Finally, we review evidence on socioeconomic disparities in satisfaction with product-specific characteristics and health care as well as consumer loyalty. Chapter 2 presents an empirical investigation of the intersection between socioeconomic status and consumer behavior. In particular, we study demand for temptation goods such as alcohol, tobacco or high-calorie foods. One of the most conventional ways that governments control the consumption of these products is through taxes; however, a growing body of research shows the presence of numerous behavioral biases that might prove such fiscal policies less effective. One of these biases is related to financial worries - a concept familiar to deprived individuals. Previous studies have shown that increasing worries shift attention towards pressing needs, potentially at the cost of forward-looking decisions. We run an online experiment in which we manipulate financial worries and ask participants to choose between necessities and temptation goods in the experimental market. We also randomly impose taxes on temptation goods for a subset of participants. Results suggest that under financial worries and no taxes participants demand less temptation goods and this effect is stronger for lower income individuals. However, when taxes are introduced and financial concerns are salient, lower income participants do not react to taxes. This suggests that, on the one hand, financial worries can protect against over-consumption of temptation goods when there are no tax changes; however, low income consumers can be hurt the most when additional taxes are implemented. Chapter 3 investigates another psychological occurrence - a feeling of control - and its impact on intertemporal preferences. Generally, low SES individuals have less chances to exert control in their lives compared with high SES people. If perceived control has a substantial impact on the intertemporal choice, these disparities may have a long lasting impact that might make it harder to move up in terms of social status. In an online experiment we manipulate the feeling of control by asking participants to remember a certain situation. We vary control in terms of level - not having control vs being in full control – and type – being in a situation involving other people or a non-social situation. Afterwards, we ask participants to make intertemporal allocation decisions - either regarding a monetary experimental budget or a number of real effort tasks. We find no evidence of present bias in monetary discounting for either of the control treatments. Results are different for effort discounting: on aggregate level, participants in this condition reverse their preferences more often as they choose to perform more tasks sooner when the decision involves only future points in time, but less when the decision involves also present. Moreover, we find evidence of significant present bias in the low control condition. Allocation decisions are mediated by emotional states activated in the feeling of control manipulation: for money condition, the strongest mediator is the feeling of fear, while for effort discounting it is sadness. Overall, the results suggest that although recalling a situation of (no) control does not influence intertemporal allocation decisions regarding windfall money, it can impact decisions about the allocation of effort. Chapter 4 continues the discussion on intertemporal preferences and socioeconomic status. It is a well established that low SES is related to impatient behaviours. While many works have analyzed psychological channels which mediate this effect, such as cognitive load, stress, emotional affects, and self-control issues, this work seeks to test whether the mere salience of one’s subjective SES has an impact on intertemporal preferences regarding effort. In an online experiment, I prime participants on their SES and ask to make effort allocation decisions. I find that priming affects only low status participants: this group made more present-biased choices by postponing effort to the future even if it mean higher workload. No effect was found for nonprimed low SES participants or higher status individuals in both treatment and control groups. I conclude that even a mere act of making SES salient in your mind can have an adverse effect to low SES individuals by pushing them to postpone work to the future.

Molin, Olivia January 2023 (has links)
The amateur – the one who loves is an assay about the conditions of existence for amateur theatre in the region of Västerbotten, Sweden. During the last 20- something years the number of active amateur theatre-companies has gone from being a well-established form of cultural expression to being absent in the majority of the Västerbotten-communities. The purpose of this essay has been to understand why the people who are still active amateur theatre-performers-and- (volunteer)workers is interested in this form of art and which kinds of conditions of existence matters and enables these people to live their amateur theatre-lives. To be able to answer to this purpose it has been important to meet and speak to people from different parts of Västerbotten, why the study is multisited with shorter visits to several different places. By doing so, I have interviewed 12 people who still are, or used to be, engaged in amateur theatre, and I also visited three different amateur theatre companies to observe while they were rehearsing. Theoretically, the starting point has been the term culture and cultural theories such as a gleaning from Pierre Bourdieu's theories of practice where field, conditions of existence, habitus and symbolic capital has been identified in the empirical material and clarified with the help of feeling-work from Erin Hurley and orientation from Sarah Ahmed. The results have shown that the participants who has been interviewed all have (or used to have) three things in common: a great passion and love for the arts, an urge for self-realization and a longing to be part of a field or community of practise. But depending on where you live and where you come from, your conditions of existence differ quite a lot - even within the region of Västerbotten.

The safest festival is the one that never takes place

Sigfridsson, Isabelle, Redondo, Emma, Lundqvist, Moa January 2024 (has links)
Background & problem: Security constitutes a significant part of the production of music festivals, since there is a risk for both minor and fatal incidents. However, in relation to the visitor’s “festival-feeling” there is a risk for the security work to be viewed as insufficient as well as excessive. Problem statement: How is the “festival-feeling” affected by the security work at music festivals? Purpose: The purpose of the study is to describe the balance between what is considered to be insufficient as well as excessive security in relation to the attendees “festival-feeling”. Method: The purpose of the study is fulfilled through a qualitative, inductive method. In order to collect the empirical data, nine interviews were carried out with people who have either been involved in the work at music festivals or have been to a lot of music festivals. Thematic analysis was used as the approach to analyze the empirical data. Conclusion: The result of the study indicates that security-work and how it’s executed has a significant impact on the attendees’ “festival-feeling” in many cases. The attendees show understanding and acceptance of the security-work, and that security measures are a prerequisite for the attendees to feel safe. Festival attendees feel more unsafe outside the festival area, which makes it difficult to determine how much the festival organizer is responsible for in regard to the attendees.
