Hälsofrämjande arbete på Rapatac

The purpose of the study was to investigate the health promotion work for the children and young at Rapatac from an employee perspective. A qualitative method was used. Interviews with six employees at Rapatac were conducted using semi-structured questions. Data was analyzed by coding and forming categories and subcategories. Results showed that respondents' concept of health promoting work had both similarities and differences. There was an agreement on the complexity of health promotion, on the importance of promoting safety and on the lifestyle perspective in health promotion. The organization worked in various ways to implement health promotion initiatives for children and young people through activities, education, empowerment and supportive environments. Results also pointed to the need to develop collaboration with schools and families, staff competence and resources to improve health promotion strategies. In conclusion, respondents perceived health-promoting work as complex, were aware of the ongoing health promoting work in the organization and identified potential areas for improvement. / Syftet med studien var att undersöka det hälsofrämjande arbetet riktat mot barn och unga på Rapatac utifrån medarbetarnas perspektiv. Metoden för studien var kvalitativ och genomfördes på Rapatac med sex medarbetare. Studien utfördes med hjälp av semistrukturerade intervjuer. Data analyserades för att hitta meningsbärande enheter som kodades och delades in i subkategorier och huvudkategorier. Resultat visade att respondenternas hade en förståelse om hälsofrämjande arbete med både likheter och skillnader. Det rådde en samsyn i beskrivningarna av hälsofrämjande arbete som komplext, vikten av trygghetsfrämjande arbete och levnadsvanor. Organisationen arbetade på olika sätt att implementera hälsofrämjande insatser för barn och unga genom aktiviteter, utbildning, empowerment och stödjande miljöer. I studiens resultat framkom även några utvecklingsområden, bland annat samarbete med skolor och familjer, kompetensutveckling för personalen samt resurser för att förbättra verksamhetens hälsofrämjande strategi. Slutsatsen var att det hälsofrämjande arbetet uppfattades som komplext, att det fanns en medvetenhet om verksamhetens pågående hälsofrämjande arbete och flera områden med utvecklingspotential identifierades.

När organisationer erbjuder en för stor variation av hälsofrämjande aktiviteter och åtgärder, kan vi inte med säkerhet identifiera vilka motiv som påverkar vilka aktiviteter och åtgärder. / Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe how underlying motives influence the implementation of health-promoting activities and measures. Method: Qualitative study with an inductive approach. The empirical material was col-lected through semi-structured interviews with eleven informants. Conclusion: This study shows that it is difficult to say how organizations underlying motives influence the implementation of health-promoting activities and measures, mainly because of the variety and width of the concept. When organizations offer too much variety in health-promoting activities and measures, it is not possible for us to iden-tify with certainty which motives influence which of the activities and measures.

Différences culturelles au travail : impact sur l'intégration et la santé des travailleurs étrangers

La présente thèse explore l’impact des différences culturelles au travail sur l’intégration et la santé des travailleurs étrangers. Les différences culturelles sont évaluées selon le concept de distance culturelle entre les dimensions culturelles identifiées par Hofstede, l’intégration selon le concept d’acculturation, et la santé selon le concept de santé psychologique au travail. Les ressources personnelles des immigrants (proactivité, optimisme et résilience) sont également étudiées. La recherche a été effectuée dans deux centres d’appels d’une importante coopérative financière québécoise. L’échantillon se compose de 100 immigrants de première génération de Montréal. Les résultats de l’étude mettent en avant les impacts significatifs mais modérés des différences culturelles sur la santé psychologique au travail, sur le style d’acculturation adopté au travail et sur l’importance des ressources personnelles (résilience) pour l’acculturation et la santé psychologique des travailleurs étrangers. De fortes différences culturelles engendreraient davantage de bien-être psychologique au travail et influenceraient l’adoption d’un style d’acculturation intégratif. La résilience serait aussi une ressource personnelle non négligeable pour la santé de l’immigrant. Ces résultats soulignent par ailleurs le rôle particulier de la sphère du travail pour les travailleurs étrangers, la documentation scientifique appuyant l’idée que le monde du travail aurait un impact significatif sur leur santé psychologique. Les limites de la recherche, des suggestions d’amélioration ainsi que des pistes d’actions sont également proposées. / This thesis focuses on the impact of cultural differences on foreign workers’ integration and health. Cultural differences are assessed using the concept of cultural distance between Hofstede’s cultural dimensions, integration using the concept of acculturation, and health using the concept of psychological health at work. The immigrants’ personal resources (proactivity, optimism and resilience) are also considered. The study was conducted in two call centers of a major financial cooperative in Quebec. The sample consists of 100 first generation immigrants in Montreal. The study’s results highlight the significant but moderate impacts of cultural differences on both the psychological health and the acculturation style at work, as well as the significant impact of personal resources (resilience) on foreign workers’ acculturation and psychological health at work. Strong cultural differences would generate greater psychological well-being at work and would engender the adoption of integrative acculturation style. Resilience stands out as a key personal resource for an immigrant’s health. The results further underline the particular role of the work sphere for foreign workers, with scientific literature supporting the idea that the workplace would have a significant impact on their psychological health. In addition to the above, a list of research limitations, recommendations for improvement and paths of action have been suggested.

El presente estudio de investigación implemento el programa de seguridad basado en el comportamiento orientado a lograr reducir los índices de accidentabilidad, aumentar los actos estándares y cambiar la cultura de seguridad de la empresa. Para ello, como primer antecedente se tuvo el estado actual del sistema de gestión de seguridad y salud en el trabajo (SGSST) de la empresa, el diseño del programa, la implementación orientada a la observación y retroalimentación positiva y finalmente la evaluación de los resultados por un periodo de tres meses. Todo ello, implica estudiar y comprender la metodología para incluirlo dentro del Sistema Integrado de Gestión de prevención de riesgos, como propuesta de mejora continua. Asimismo, como parte del programa se analizarán las conductas y comportamientos; los cuales serán plasmados en un formulario de la empresa en estudio, para observar si son o no seguras y cuáles podrían ser las causas inmediatas y/o básicas del comportamiento del trabajador. / This research study implemented the behavior-based safety program aimed at reducing accident rates, increasing standard acts and changing the safety culture of the company. For this, as the first precedent, the current state of the company's occupational health and safety management system (SGSST) was used, the design of the program, the implementation oriented to observation and positive feedback and finally the evaluation of the results. for a period of three months. All of this implies studying and understanding the methodology to include it within the Integrated Risk Prevention Management System, as a proposal for continuous improvement. <p>U doktorskoj disertaciji je realizovano ispitivanje revitalizacije, parametara sagorevanja i emisije otpadnih transformatorskih i motornih ulja, kao i njihovih dizel me&scaron;avina. Dobijeni eksperimentalni rezultati ukazuju da se nakon revitalizacionog tretmana značajno pobolj&scaron;avaju izolaciona svojstva transformatorskog ulja, &scaron;to je veoma važno za bezbedan rad transformatora, za&scaron;titu životne i radne sredine. Pored toga, rezultati eksperimentalnog ispitivanja procesa sagorevanja ukazuju da se otpadna transformatorska i motorna ulja i njihove me&scaron;avine sa dizelom mogu koristiti kao gorivo u generatorima toplote male snage i u raznim granama procesne industrije, te mogu smanjiti probleme u vezi sa za&scaron;titom životne sredine.</p> / <p>The doctoral thesis cover the testing of revitalization, combustion parameters and emissions of waste transformer and motor oils, as well as their diesel mixtures. The experimental results obtained indicate that after the revitalization treatment, the insulating properties of the transformer oil are significantly improved, which is very important for the safe operation of transformer, environmental protection and work environment. In addition, the results of an experimental test of the combustion process indicate that waste transformer and motor oils and their mixtures with diesel can be used as fuel in low power heat generators and in various branches of the process industry, and can reduce environmental issues.</p>

La prevención del riesgo laboral y su influencia en el nivel de accidentes de trabajo de las empresas del Sector Textil, Lima Metropolitana 2020

La presente investigación tiene como propósito explicar la influencia de la prevención del riesgo laboral en el nivel de accidentes de trabajo de las empresas del Sector Textil, Lima Metropolitana 2020. El diseño de la investigación es no experimental de tipo transversal, porque se realiza sin manipular deliberadamente las variables y de alcance correlacional causal. Asimismo, la metodología que se aplicó para la recolección de datos en de enfoque cuantitativo. Para medir la opinión de los colaboradores, encargados de seguridad y salud en el trabajo del Sector Textil, en relación con las variables a estudiar y a sus referidas dimensiones, se elaboró un cuestionario tipo Likert. La confiabilidad del mencionado instrumento se determinó mediante el Coeficiente de Alfa de Cronbach (0.759) y su validación se obtuvo mendiante el juicio de expertos. De una población total de 35,739 empresas textiles, se determinó un muestreo aleatorio simple obteniendo 381 empresas. Según el análisis correlacional, existe evidencia estadística para sintetizar que la prevención de riesgo laboral y el nivel de accidentes de trabajo de las empresas del sector Textil en Lima Metropolitana están relacionados. / The purpose of this research is to explain the influence of occupational risk prevention on the level of occupational accidents in companies in the Textile sector, Lima Metropolitana 2020. The research design is non-experimental of a transversal type, because it is carried out without manipulating deliberately variables and causal correlational scope. Likewise, the methodology that was applied for data collection in a quantitative approach. To measure the opinion of the collaborators, those in charge of safety and health at work in the Textile Sector, in relation to the variables to be studied and their referred dimensions, a Likert-type questionnaire was prepared. The reliability of the aforementioned instrument was determined using Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient (0.759) and its validation was obtained through the judgment of experts. From a total population of 35,739 textile companies, a simple random sample was determined obtaining 381 companies. According to the correlational analysis, there is statistical evidence to synthesize that the prevention of occupational risk and the level of accidents at work in the companies of the Textile sector in Metropolitan Lima are related. / Tesis

En strukturerad litteraturstudie om hälsofrämjande faktorer för ökat välbefinnande hos anställda / A literature review about work health promoting factors to increase well-being of employees

Introduktion Att arbeta med hälsofrämjande insatser på arbetsplatsen är viktigt för att värna om en välmående folkhälsa (Folkhälsomyndigheten, 2019). Då stress används som indikator för att mäta folkhälsan och många i dagens samhälle sjukskrivs på grund av arbetsrelaterad stress så är det av folkhälsovetenskaplig relevans att undersöka hållbara lösningar för en jämlik hälsa (Folkhälsomyndigheten, 2020; Försäkringskassan, 2016). Med bakgrund av att arbetsplatsen är en viktig arena för att behålla och främja hälsan hos befolkningen (Naidoo &amp; Wills, 2016) så är det av studiens intresse är att undersöka hälsofrämjande arbetsplatser med hjälp av tidigare vetenskapligt material. Syfte Syftet med examensarbetet är att utifrån en strukturerad litteraturstudie beskriva vilka hälsofrämjande faktorer som kan vara framgångsrika för att ökat välbefinnande på arbetsplatser. Metod Studien har gjorts genom en strukturerad litteraturstudie där tio artiklar hämtats från databaserna PubMed och CINAHL. Artiklarnas resultat har vidare analyserats med tematisk analys. Resultat Resultatet visar att det finns åtta hälsofrämjande faktorer (Balans, Bekräftelse, Engagemang, Gruppkänsla, Kommunikation, Medvetenhet, Resurser, Samarbete, Socialt klimat och Stöd) som bidrar till en hälsofrämjande arbetsmiljö är och kan delas in i tre dimensioner på individ, grupp samt ledarskaps och organisationsnivå. Slutsats Det finns hälsofrämjande faktorer som kan tillämpas ur ett helhetsperspektiv och således påverka den övergripande arbetskulturen på arbetsplatsen vilket kan ha positiv inverkan på individers välbefinnande. / Introduction Working with health promoting initiatives in the workplace is important for the wellbeing of public health (Folkhälsomyndigheten, 2021). As stress is used as an indicator to measure public health and since many people are on sick leave due to work-related stress, it is of public health relevance to investigate sustainable solutions for equal public health (Folkhälsomyndigheten, 2020; Försäkringskassan, 2016). Given that the workplace is an important arena for maintaining and promoting the health of the population (Naidoo &amp; Wills, 2016), it is in the interest of the study to investigate health promoting factors using previous empirical material. The Aim The aim of the study is to describe, based on a structured literature study, which health promoting factors that can be successful to increase well-being in the workplace. Method The study was conducted through a structure literature review where ten articles were selected from the databases PubMed and CINAHL. The result from the articles have been further analyzed with thematic analysis. Results The results shows that eight health promotion factors that can contribute to a health-promoting work environment is: Balance, Confirmation, Commitment, Group feeling, Communication, Awareness, Resources, Cooperation, Social climate, and Support which also can be divided into three dimensions on individual, group, and leadership and organizational level. Conclusion There are health promoting factors that can be applied from a holistic perspective and thus affect the overall work culture in the workplace, which can have a positive impact on individuals' well-being.

Background: Previous research has recently focused on the relationship between teachers and students in the classroom and what significance it has for students' well-being and schooling. Research shows that the relationship is important for students, not least to facilitate schooling and achieve the knowledge goals. Overall, it is important for students' well-being and success. However, many studies focus on what happens in the classroom, this study instead highlights the importance of the relationship between teacher and student in a broader perspective.Aim: The purpose was to study how teachers and students view their relationship outside the classroom and what significance it has from a health-promoting perspective. Method: A qualitative study was conducted in the spring of 2020, with a structured sample consisting of three 15-year-old students and three teachers, who were interviewed from a semistructured interview guide. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed with qualitative content analysis. Result: The study resulted in two categories of social support and communication as well as the physical environment that is important for creating a good relationship between teachers and students outside the classroom to increase a health-promoting school climate. The analysis revealed two categories and eight subcategories that are important for students and teachers from a health-promoting perspective. Conclusion: A good relationship between students and teachers is important for both parties, by giving and receiving social support, where social interaction is a central factor and having a personal commitment to create and maintain the relationship. The physical environment in the corridors is also important in order to be able to promote health, for example teachers are more often in the corridor to build and maintain relationships. / Bakgrund: Tidigare forskning har senaste tiden fokuserat på relationen mellan lärare och elever i klassrummet och vilken betydelse det har för elevers välmående och skolgång. Forskningen visar på att relationen är viktig för elever, inte minst för att underlätta skolgången och klara kunskapsmålen. Sammantaget är det av vikt för elevers välbefinnande och framgång. Många studier fokuserar dock på det som sker i klassrummet, den här studien lyfter istället betydelsen av relationen mellan lärare och elev i ett vidare perspektiv. Syfte: Syftet var att studera hur lärare och elever ser på deras relation utanför klassrummet och vilken betydelse det har ur ett hälsofrämjande perspektiv. Metod: En kvalitativ studie har genomförts våren 2020, med ett strukturerat urval som utgjordes av tre elever och tre lärare, vilka intervjuades från en semistrukturerad intervjuguide. Intervjuerna transkriberades och analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys.Resultat: Studien resulterade i två kategorier socialt stöd och kommunikation samt den fysiska miljön som är viktig för att skapa en bra relation mellan lärare och elever utanför klassrummet för att öka ett hälsofrämjande skolklimat. Av analysen framkom två kategorier och åtta subkategorier som är betydelsefulla för elever och lärare ur ett hälsofrämjande perspektiv. Slutsats: En god relation mellan elever och lärare är viktig för båda parter, detta genom att ge och få socialt stöd, där det sociala samspelet är en central faktor och att ha ett personligt engagemang för att skapa och bibehålla relationen. Även den fysiska miljön i korridorerna är viktigt för att kunna främja hälsan, att exempelvis lärare befinner sig oftare i korridoren för att bygga och bibehålla relationer.

L’étude de l’effet modérateur du soutien social hors-travail sur la relation entre l’engagement organisationnel de type calculé et la détresse psychologique

Ce mémoire vise à vérifier l’effet modérateur du soutien social hors-travail sur la relation entre l’engagement organisationnel de type calculé et la détresse psychologique. Le soutien social hors-travail représente le réseau social externe au milieu professionnel du travailleur. L’engagement organisationnel de type calculé représente une forme d’engagement qui se manifeste lorsqu’un travailleur se sent obligé de demeurer à son travail pour des raisons extrinsèques plutôt que par choix personnel. La détresse psychologique représente un ensemble de symptômes inquiétants pouvant mener à des troubles de santé mentale. Un modèle conceptuel impliquant ces trois variables est développé, illustrant l’engagement calculé comme variable indépendante, la détresse psychologique comme variable dépendante et le soutien social hors-travail comme variable modératrice. De plus, plusieurs variables contrôles sont ajoutées à ce modèle. Pour parvenir à vérifier l’effet modérateur recherché, les données au premier cycle partiel de l’Étude Longitudinale de l’Observatoire sur la Santé et le Mieux-être au Travail (ELOSMET), basées sur un échantillon de 2400 travailleurs d’entreprises clientes de Morneau Shepell et Medavie/Croix Bleue, ont été utilisées. Dans un premier temps, des analyses descriptives ont été réalisées afin de relever les caractéristiques fondamentales de l’ensemble de l’échantillon de l’ELOSMET. Dans un deuxième temps, des analyses bivariées ont déterminé l’absence ou la présence de relation linéaire significative entre les variables. Enfin, des analyses multiniveaux ont permis d’établir les effets des différentes variables sur la détresse psychologique. Les résultats des analyses multiniveaux suggèrent que le niveau d’engagement de ce type est significativement associé à un niveau de détresse psychologique plus élevé. Ils ont également présenté une association significative entre un soutien social élevé et un niveau de détresse psychologique plus faible. Ceci dit, les analyses multiniveaux n’ont pas permis de confirmer le lien modérateur du soutien social hors-travail sur la relation entre l’engagement organisationnel de type calculé et la détresse psychologique. / The aim of this thesis is to verify the moderating effect of social support received outside of the workplace and its relationship between continuance organizational commitment and psychological distress. Social support outside of the workplace represents the support received from personal networks. Continuance organizational commitment represents the extrinsic motives to stay at a particular job alternately to its intrinsic motivation. Psychological distress represents a disturbing set of symptoms that can lead to mental health problems. A conceptual model involving these three variables is developed, presenting the continuance commitment as an independent variable, psychological distress as a dependant variable and social network support as a moderating variable. In addition, more variables are included in this model. The data used to verify the moderating effect is based on the first partial cycle of the “Étude Longitudinale de l’Observatoire sur la Santé et le Mieux-Être au Travail” (ELOSMET) sampling 2400 workers from Morneau Shepell and Medavie/Blue Cross. Firstly, the descriptive analysis was carried out to identify the fundamental characteristics of the sample. Secondly, a bivariate analysis determined the absence or the presence of significant linear relationship between variables. Lastly, a multilevel analysis enabled the study to find the different effects of the variables on psychological distress. These results suggest that the level of engagement of this type is highly correlated to a high level of psychological distress. They also showed a significant correlation between high social support and low psychological distress. That being said, multilevel analysis did not confirm a relationship of the moderated link of social support received outside of the workplace on the continuance organizational commitment and psychological distress.
