The use of information communication technology in the classroom to enhance teaching and learning at selected Secondary Schools in Limpopo ProvinceBejrajh, Viloshni January 2022 (has links)
Thesis (Ph.D. (Curriculum Studies)) -- University of Limpopo, 2022 / This study explored the use of information communication technology (ICT) to enhance teaching and learning in selected schools in Limpopo Province of South Africa. The study examined how ICT could be used to the advantage of the educator and learners in the classroom. The research is important because of the need to shift from teacher centred to learner centred approaches through using technology in the classroom. In addition, today’s learners are different from those of 20 years ago in that they are inquisitive and want to discover knowledge on their own. In the past twentyfive years that the researcher has been a teacher, she has seen a significant change in the learners’ attitude towards education. The current learners are energetic, enjoy change and are opposed to traditional teaching approaches that focus on rote learning. This qualitative research implemented the principle of life-long learning to increase a variety of educational mediums and promote the learners’ technology literacy. The research also sought to encourage the culture of learning through the development of learning skills. To achieve the study objectives, a case study design which is an aspect of qualitative research, was adopted. This led to a naturalistic inquiry which allowed the researcher to collect data by interacting with selected individuals in their everyday setting. The study exploits the constructive-interpretivist paradigm because this enabled the researcher to critically explore the use of ICT in enhancing teaching and learning at secondary schools. Data was collected through interviews with participants. Subsequently, the data was analysed to gain in-depth understanding about how educators implement and ensure quality teaching and learning through the use of ICT in the classroom. Data was transcribed verbatim and then grouped according to different themes. The research findings indicate that the use of ICT in the classroom promotes teaching and learning. ICT is an innovative tool which also allows diverse perspectives to emerge, enabling learners to develop a group identity.

Creating Supply Chain Resilience with Information Communication TechnologyGlassburner, Aaron 05 1900 (has links)
Supply chain resilience refers to the capability of a supply chain to both withstand and adapt to unexpected disturbances. In today's turbulent business environment, firms are continually seeking to create more resilience within their supply chain through increased information communication technology use and enhanced business-to-business relationships. The focus of this dissertation is the investigation of how information communication technology creates resilience at the differing process levels of supply chain operations. Past research into information communication technology use within supply chains has often been conducted at the macro-level of supply chain phenomena. As such, there is still much to understand about how decision-makers interact with information communication technology at the micro-level of supply chain decision-making. A more in-depth, broad coverage of this interaction will provide both practitioners and academics a better understanding of how to leverage information communication technology in achieving supply chain resilience. To meet this aim, this dissertation contains three essays that re-orient conceptual thinking about supply chain phenomenon, explore how advances in information communication technology influence business-to-business relationships, and identify how information communication technology effects the decision-making of supply chain managers.

資通訊科技(ICT)服務業客戶滿意度之跨國比較- 以亞太地區市場為例 / Customer Satisfaction of Information Communication Technology (ICT) Services- The Comparison in Asia Pacific Countries王宏任, Wang, Benjamin Unknown Date (has links)
Today, the rapid movement towards globalization has forced enterprises in Taiwan to transform from manufacturing, trading, and marketing type of business model to a more services oriented one. During the process of transformation, enterprises realize that increasing the value of private brand could bring them more competitive advantages in the supply chain, and ultimately create the market value which allows them to stand out in the severe competition of the global marketplace.
In recent years, customer satisfaction has become an important index to evaluate whether a product or commodity is being successful in the market. However, not many researches are focusing the satisfaction studies of the services or products provided by the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry. As Taiwan has been the major export country of ICT products, a case study in the Asia Pacific market will help us understand more about the industry and provide more insights for Taiwan companies.
The paper will use a multinational company in the ICT industry to examine the key factors that impact the client satisfaction survey. Result shows that the gap between clients’ perceptions and expectations of service quality will vary based on products, services, level of usage, personal experience and organization. This fulfils the concept of P.Z.B. model and the theory of DeLone and McLean model of information systems success. Also cultural difference plays a significant role in the survey result and could lead to diverse interpretation of service quality. It is hoped that this paper could be a reference for ICT companies in Taiwan to understand clients in different countries, making them to gain better market value in today’s competitive global market.

Knowledge sharing in Nkangala district municipalityMakhanya, Lungile 11 1900 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to investigate knowledge practices in Nkangala District Municipality (NDM), situated in the Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. The objective of the study was to discover NDM managers’ level of understanding participation and establish any challenges of knowledge sharing in NDM. This study employed qualitative research method. An interview guide was designed to collect data through in-depth interviews. To determine the number of participants for the interview, stratified and purposive sampling methods were used. The study established that there is little knowledge and understanding of the knowledge sharing concept by NDM managers, hence, it is not formally recognised by the institution. However, managers acknowledged that knowledge sharing could play a huge role in improving service delivery. The study recommends that NDM should consider introducing the knowledge sharing concept, through the establishment of a knowledge sharing section. A culture of knowledge sharing could be developed through the development of knowledge sharing policies, which should be aligned to the Integrated Development Planning (IDP) process of NDM. In addition, the study recommends an upgrade on the existing ICT infrastructure and internet connection, especially in rural municipalities. This will ensure that ICT fully supports knowledge sharing activities. The study suggested that an additional study is conducted to establish knowledge sharing practices among the lower level staff members of NDM. / Information Science / M.A.(Information Science)

Innovation, Collaboration, and the International FirmHargreaves, Michael January 2004 (has links)
In the lead up to the Year 2000 dot.com crash of publicly traded high-technology equities, Information Communication Technology (ICT) Companies proudly displayed inter-firm allegiances on their newly created websites. These collaborative relationships were in reality licensing agreements to develop or market new products internationally. Phenomena associated with ICT product development - collaboration, innovation, and internationalisation - are the core tenets of the accompanying dissertation. Leading scholars have suggested these phenomena challenge conventional economic theories of the firm. This study commences with tracing the evolution of trade and production theories from absolute advantage through to competitive advantage and introduces the concepts of non-adversarial collaborative advantage. Within the framework of the technology cycle, this dissertation then seeks to answer why firms engage in international collaborative innovation. The cycle of technological innovation is investigated and this leads to postulating a period of technological overlap and its implications for collaboration. One of the shortcomings acknowledged in the literature is the generic application of the term collaboration to cover a wide scope of inter-firm agreements. Within the literature this is referred to as a problem of multidimensionality. A model is developed in this dissertation that identifies the choices available to the firm and addresses the problem of defining collaboration. The choices provided in the developed model are more complex than simply choosing between external and internal intermediate markets. As a separable form of industry organisation, the success rates of alliance collaboration are compared to Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As) to validate issues of sustainability before examining the impact of location on innovation and collaboration. Again, theory is tested by recent events that require explanation. These events include the relocation of early stage foreign R&D to both developed and lesser-developed nations. The final chapter assesses the findings throughout this study and identifies separate and distinct roles for large and small firms in the international and collaborative commercialisation of new innovations. This central conclusion requires empirical validation and suggests the need investigate how firms shape the cycle of innovation from a reflected vantage point to the evolutionary perspective taken in this study. Further research is warranted because the literature on international innovation and collaboration is at an early stage and gaps in understanding remain.

Knowledge and Information Communication Technology : perceptions of staff from selected Namibian banking institutionsGandanhamo, Joseph Fungayi January 2016 (has links)
The integration of Information Communication Technology (ICT) into contemporary society
and business operations is observed as a clear reality in Namibia. While Namibia faces one of
the typical hurdles of developing nations, lack of a skilled knowledge workforce, literature
presents a contrasting face of ICT investment in the country, in particular the financial services
sector. This sector is considered a critical sector in the Namibian economy, embracing global
trends while boasting world class ICT infrastructure. This is despite the sector struggling with
a shortage of expertise. The situation in Namibia’s financial sector thus warrants a critical
review of knowledge development practices as research shows. As literature explains, the
financial institutions in Namibia are dependent on expertise from parent companies in the South
African financial sector. The result is a need to identify means to develop the knowledge of
Namibia’s workforce in the banking sector.
Although there is evidence from literature to suggest that ICT can be used to create a skilled
and knowledge based workforce mainly due to the promise of cost savings, and convenience,
there exists a critical gap in literature on the adoption of ICT for knowledge development in
the Namibian financial sector. This gap in knowledge as well as the high investment in ICTs
in the banking sector pose a problem that the research aimed to address. This study explored
the adoption of ICTs for knowledge development activities in the banking sector of Namibia
identifying the perceptions and factors influencing its adoption for knowledge development
purposes. Although adoption of ICT is influenced by various factors, this study focused on a
specific factor, namely the impact of perceptions on ICT adoption. ICT adoption models such
as the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) or the Technology Adoption Model (TAM) and
more recently the Unified Theory of Adoption and Use of Technology (UTAUT) argue that
the perceptions of users are fundamental determinants for the adoption of the ICT. Driving,
thus, the need to understand the views of users of the ICTs in banks in order to understand the
potential it may yield in knowledge development. The study adopts the Activity Theory (AT)
as the means to uncover and clearly interpret the perceptions of banking staff, through its
theoretic underpinnings of naturalistic investigation and beliefs of “intentional human-action”.
This study thus set out to explore the perceptions of banking staff on the use of ICTs in
knowledge development and identify the critical factors in their adoption of ICTs in the
process.
Drawing from the Activity Theory the investigation used a multi-case qualitative study that
used semi-structured interviews that were administered on twenty-three respondents from three
of the biggest banks in Namibia (cases). The respondents comprised of managerial and nonmanagerial
staff with the three cases chosen based on their ties with South African banks. The
findings show that all three Namibian banks have advanced ICT infrastructure which they have
managed to adopt for knowledge development purposes. The Management of the banks in all
three cases were of the belief that the use of ICT supports knowledge development. Nonmanagerial
bank staff in all three cases likewise have a positive perception about the use of
ICT for knowledge development purposes. However, key concerns about the development of
ICT driven knowledge development initiatives which could affect adoption of the ICTs were
expressed by the non-managerial staff. These included, management support, consultation in
the development phase of the knowledge development initiatives, integration of knowledge
development strategies into the staff processes and increasing awareness activities among the
staff. The recommendations indicate a need for the institutions to drive knowledge management
in general in the institution, which will in turn help foster knowledge development initiatives
fully. Another recommendation concerning the design of knowledge development initiatives is
the need to involve the targeted staff more fully. Yet another strong recommendation was the
need to blend knowledge development initiatives into the work processes of staff and ensure
active support by management. / Computing / M.A. (Computing)

January 2011 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The current state of the network society shapes the processes of production, preservation and flow of information through the application of information technology and communication (ICT). This scenario driven by the use of digital information environments, specifically the Internet, reign new reflections on the prevailing level of any social actor on the potential strategic use of ICTs towards the revitalization of internal processes with a view to inclusion in the information society. E-commerce and publishing on-line public services that have been adopted by most organizations are clear examples of technologies that provide gains for development in all political, social and economic dimensions. In this process there is a dual need, both in the architecture of digital information environments for greater usability and accessibility, as the improvement in digital repositories to ensure the retrieval of information preserved for use and re-use. The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) is a service of public nature, especially public safety, democratic legality and rights of citizens is limited in this specimen. Thus, the study aimed to explore the potential of creating the database (DB) and the digital information environment for managing information about public security in Mozambique for the part of the PRM. To this end, we adopted the case study to obtain data with greater detail and to consider other aspects not previously covered by the research. The data collection among various techniques, including participant observation during the experience in organizing guided the research work, whose results turn out to be extremely important in that, besides stimulating the production of information in the area, will ensure the mechanisms for collection, organization, storage and information retrieval, making flexible the processing for rapid decisions in response to collective needs / Mestre

Due to the wide advancement in the development of applications and tools for the use of libraries, there is a notable increase in the level of complexity of the information environments of these institutions, there is an increase in the level of complexity of their informational environments, that, of the perspective of Information Architecture creates the need for more accurate research projects, in the search to improve the information environments of the university libraries, having as main objective, to improve the experiences of the users, and assist them to find the pertinent information, at the right time and with the highest possible quality. Many studies developed in the area of Library and Information Science, and more specifically into Information Architecture have made great efforts in the search for techniques, methods and tools that allow, and enable them to make better decisions in their daily activities. However, these studies prove to be insufficient, when it comes to anticipating the needs of users, and providing personalized information that suit their tastes and preferences. In this scenario, we highlight the need for answers to this problem, finding into area of computer science, studies on the personalization of digital environments (specifically applied into e-commerce area) through the incorporation of Recommendations Systems, aimed at alleviating to informational overburden on the user, and increasing to serendipity in the different information environments, through to the information filtering techniques, that suggest which to users, resources that may meet their needs.. This raises the question that guides this research: How to improve Findability of Information into CRAI, based on the insertion and use of Recommendation Systems in Information Architecture projects? In order to show the importance of the studies on this subject, from the perspective of Library Science, was defined the main objective, being "to the Construction of a theoretical model of Information Architecture focusing on Recommendation Systems in order to increase Findability of Information into CRAI"As methodology for the development of this research, we chose the use of the Quadripolar Method, its capacity for dynamism and flexibility, and ease of analysis of the research object from different perspectives. Throughout the research, we worked to the hypothesis, that the incorporation of the Recommendation Systems in the context of University Libraries will facilitate the process of Findability of Information, an user community increasingly to demanding, with the products and services they consume. As a result, was first presented a concept of System of Recommendation, applicable and usable in the area of Library Science, as well as the proposal of a theoretical model for the inclusion of Recommendation Systems, in future Information Architecture projects, not only for the informational environments of the University libraries, and for other information centers too. Finally, a tool was developed to evaluate the implementation and functioning of the model in its practical application.
