Apesar das leis que impediam o judaísmo, não são poucos os exemplos da continuidade das práticas da antiga fé, embora de maneira oculta e adaptada ao limite do possível. Neste sentido, observamos o redesenhar do papel das mulheres na religião judaica, na qual, em tempos anteriores, ficavam à margem da religião e, com a atuação do Santo Ofício, levam-nas a subverterem tal quadro, ocupando um papel decisivo na resistência e formação de um judaísmo possível, um criptojudaísmo. Nos conventos, percebemos que tal prática poderia se mostrar recorrente devido ao fato de inúmeras cristãs-novas reclusas serem provenientes de uma mesma família, encontrando assim um ambiente livre para manter as práticas do criptojudaísmo apreendidas no seio familiar. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo investigar a atuação do Tribunal do Santo Ofício de Lisboa no tocante às religiosas, analisando através de processos os desvios de conduta, aspectos relativos às origens e à espiritualidade das religiosas. / The establishment of the Court of the Holy Office in Portugal, in the year 1536, in order to ensure the purity of the Catholic faith, initiates a process of persecution for those who somehow have been accused of heresy, in which the new Christians would be its main victims. Despite laws that prevented the Judaism, there are many examples of continuity of the old faith practices, while stealthily and adapted to the limit of the possible. In this sense, we observe new formulation of the role of women in Judaism, in which, in earlier times, stood outside the religion and with the activities of the Holy Office, carry them to subvert such a framework, taking a decisive role in the resistance and formation of a Judaism possible, a crypto-Judaism. In convents, we realized that such a practice could be repeated because numerous inmates New Christians come from a same family, finding a free environment to keep the practices of the crypto-Judaism seized within familiar. This research aims to investigate the role of the Court of the Holy Office of Lisbon with regard to woman religious, analyzing via the conduct processes, aspects of the origins and the spirituality of the religious. / FAPESP: 2015/14837-5

Esta tese trata da criação do roteiro cinematográfico O Padre Voador. Acompanha o roteiro a memória de sua escrita, dividida em começo e meio. O começo narra o princípio da idéia e o envolvimento com a história de Bartolomeu Lourenço de Gusmão, em minha graduação na Letras; o início da pesquisa sobre o personagem e a escritura do argumento já no mestrado da mesma FFLCH-USP. No meio houve a possibilidade de sonhar com a realização do filme, daí a entrada no doutorado desta Escola de Comunicações e Artes sob a orientação do professor doutor Ismail Xavier, e o desenvolvimento da pesquisa sobre a época de Bartolomeu de Gusmão no Departamento de História. Do meio consta ainda o primeiro tratamento, submetido à atenciosa leitura dos professores doutores Flávio Aguiar e Roberto Moreira, no Exame de Qualificação. O fim é o segundo tratamento do roteiro, onde procurei absorver os valiosos pareceres dos professores e as fundamentais opiniões do orientador. / This term paper is about the creation of the screenplay O Padre Voador. Along with the screenplay we present the process of writing the script, divided into beginning and middle sections. The beginning narrates the idea and the involvement with the story of Bartolomeu Lourenço de Gusmão, which I developed as a graduate student in Languages Arts. I completed the first steps of character development and the writing of the plot for my Masters Degree at FFLCH-USP. The middle section addresses the realization that my dream of producing the film could be true. Therefore I enrolled in the doctorate program at this Escola de Comunicações e Artes under the guidance of Professor Ismail Xavier. The historical study of the century in which Bartolomeu lived was made possible with the aid of the History Department. In the middle section we also find the first version of the screenplay, submitted to Professors Flavio Aguiar and Roberto Moreira during the qualifying exam. The end consists of the second version of the screenplay, where I tried to incorporate the professors\' valuable suggestions and the fundamental view of the advisor.

A Inquisição Moderna foi uma instituição criada pelos Estados Ibéricos e apoiada pela Igreja Católica no século XVI para investigar e punir indivíduos que não estivessem agindo de acordo com a moral religiosa. Agindo através de denúncias e segredos, o julgamento inquisitorial forjou heresias, apontando como principal inimigo o cristão-novo. Ao analisarmos o funcionamento do Tribunal do Santo Ofício, através de documentos inquisitoriais e trabalhos diversos publicados sobre o tema, percebemos o caráter indispensável que a instituição teve no sentido de restringir as liberdades individuais, em prol de uma ideia de uniformidade baseada numa verdade absoluta a fé católica. Em um período de tantas transformações como foi o da modernidade, a Inquisição se tornou uma das principais instituições de manutenção do Antigo Regime, assegurando o poder nas mãos do clero e da nobreza. / The Modern Inquisition was an institution created by the Iberian States and supported for Catholic Church in the XVI century to investigate and to punish individuals that were not acting in accordance with the moral religion. Acting through denunciations and secrets, the inquisitional judgment forged heresies, pointing the new-Christian as main enemy. When analyzing the functioning of the Court of the Holy Office, through inquisitional documents and several published works on the subject, we notice the indispensable character that the institution had in the direction to restrict the individual freedom in favor of an idea of uniformity based on an absolute truth the catholic faith. That one period of so many transformations, as it was the modern period, the Inquisition became one of the main institutions of maintenance of the Antique Regimen, assuring the power to the hands of the clergy and the nobility.

No Brasil, as Visitações do Santo Ofício ao longo dos séculos produziram um farto material que nos ajudam a compreender a constituição dos processos de identificação de um sujeito brasileiro, especialmente no que tange à religiosidade. A partir do lugar teórico da Análise de Discurso de linha francesa (Pêcheux), analisamos a última visitação do Santo Ofício ao Brasil, ocorrida aos Estados do Grão-Pará e Maranhão. A partir dos conceitos de lugar e posição, memória, redes de memória e transferência foi possível compreendermos os percursos de sentidos, silenciamentos e resistências que culminaram em uma religiosidade sincrética, identificadora de nossa sociedade. Práticas de curas, rezas para conquistas amorosas, adivinhações e histórias com acontecimentos fantásticos trilharam caminhos que foram da naturalização à demonização e desta ao reconhecimento de suas virtudes através de processos de ressalva, trabalhada aqui como lugar de argumentação e de transferência de memória, lugar de resistência e sobrevivência que possibilitou a manutenção da ritualística pagã através de sua inscrição em ritos católicos e da inscrição do discurso católico na ritualística pagã. Pontos de fuga para a pecha de herege; pontos de reinscrição no lugar considerado pela Igreja como cristão. E a sociedade brasileira se forma e se constitui na resistência e na transformação de memórias intercontinentais / Abstract: The documents of the Inquisition are rich sources for understanding and analyzing societies in a specific time. In Brazil, visitations of the Santo Ofício over the centuries have produced a wealth of material that helps us understand the formation of the Brazilian national identification process, especially in regard to religion. From the theoretical point of the French Discourse Analysis (Pecheux), we analyzed the last visitation of the Santo Ofício in Brazil to the states of Grão Pará and Maranhão. Considering the concepts of place and position, memory, memory network and transfer, it was possible to understand the pathways of the senses, silencing and resistance that culminated in the syncretic religion that identifies our society. Healing practices, prayers for love affair purposes, fortune-telling and stories with fantastic events that range from naturalization to demonization and to the recognition of its virtues through the process of qualification, which is seen in this study as a place of reasoning and memory transfer, a place of resistance and survival that allowed the maintenance of pagan rituals through their involvement in Christian rites and the inclusion of Christian discourse in pagan rituals. Cette thèse porte sur le traitement de la folie à l’Époque Moderne étudiée à la lumière du Droit pénal et inquisitorial. Elle s’attache à analyser la façon dont la folie a été appréciée pour chaque type de délit. Le corpus est constitué de l’ensemble des relations de causes des quatorze tribunaux inquisitoriaux péninsulaires, à savoir Barcelone, Cuenca, Cordoue, Grenade, Llerena, Logroño, Madrid, Murcie, Santiago, Saragosse, Séville, Tolède, Valence et Valladolid, ainsi que de quelques procès et de la correspondance échangée entre le Tribunal de la Suprême et ces tribunaux au cours de la période allant de 1537 à 1700.Ces recherches, menées dans une perspective novatrice et interdisciplinaire qui convoque l’anthropologie, l’histoire du Droit et celle des mentalités, ont vocation à permettre d’étudier les relations complexes que l’Inquisition entretient avec la folie. / This dissertation deals with the treatment of madness in the early Modern period. In the light of criminal and inquisitorial law, it aims at analysing how madness was assessed for each type of crime. The corpus of this dissertation is based on the Relations of causes of the fourteen peninsular inquisitorial tribunals, i.e. Barcelona, Cuenca, Cordoba, Grenada, Llerena, Logroño, Madrid, Murcie, Santiago, Zaragoza, Seville, Toledo, Valencia and Valladolid, as well as on some lawsuits and the correspondence exchanged between the Tribunal of the Suprema and these tribunals from 1537 to 1700.This research, carried out in an innovative and interdisciplinary perspective which used anthropology, the history of Law and the history of mentalities, has allowed me to study the complex relations between Inquisition and madness.
