Anders Nygren's Agape and Eros is a classical work in the history of Christian ideas of love. It has inspired the academic debate on the relationship between Agape and Eros, while the former is a core concept in Christian theology and ethics, the latter represents the ancient Greek humanistic ethos. Nygren points out that agape and eros encounter and mingle with each other at the theoretical level. However, he suggests that in the Christian idea of love and theology, the erotic ingredient, which invades in and weakens the pure original meaning of agape, should be eliminated. In achieving this, he attempts to deny the role of eros, which manifests the existential characteristics of human being, in the Christian ethical life. Thus Nygren not only makes agape and eros distinctive in their respective meanings, but also separates them in human existential situation. / In the history of Christian theology, we can find "Tradition of Separating" which tends to separate agape from eros like Nygren does. Meanwhile, there is "Tradition of Uniting" claiming to unite the two kinds of love and Tillich's idea of love is a typical example. Therefore, an investigation of Tillich's idea of love, especially its elaboration on the agape-eros relationship, is helpful and constructive not merely to a deeper understanding of Tillich's systematic theology, but also a comprehensive and balanced understanding of the two trends mentioned above in the history of Christian theology. / In this thesis, we examine Tillich's idea of love within the context of history of ideas and trace its historical roots, so that the tradition of uniting agape-eros in the history of ideas, mainly in that of Christian theology can be demonstrated. On the one hand, we try to retrieve the Courtly Love tradition in Medieval-Renaissance ages and Marcilio Ficino's Neo-Platonist understanding of eros in Renaissance as the historical sources to the particular meaning of Tillich's eros. On the other hand, our discussion makes particular reference to Gregory of Nyssa and John of the Cross, two representatives of the Christian spiritual theologians, whose spiritual writings on love will be considered as the historical roots of Tillich's agape-eros union within the Christian tradition. At last, the present study attempts to show that the modern application of Tillich's uniting agape with eros in Christian theology and ethics, along with related secular philosophy, revitalize this "Tradition of Uniting". / Paul Tillich handles the relationship of agape-eros in his systematic theology in a way radically different from the Nygrenian way. In dealing with the relationship between agape and eros, Tillich proposes a "quadric interactive structure of love" in which the four qualities of love namely libido, eros, philia and agape united and synergized in one love. Neste trabalho, situado na fronteira entre a História e a Literatura, buscamos analisar a obra do poeta romântico Álvares de Azevedo através da perspectiva da História das Relações de Gênero. Demos destaque à correspondência do autor com diferentes interlocutores, aos estudos literários George Sand Aldo o Rimador e Alfred de Musset Jacques Rolla e à Lira dos Vinte Anos. Assim, pudemos observar, em textos de naturezas diferentes, como foram construídas as representações sobre mulheres, procurando assinalar as consonâncias e dissonâncias entre elas. Levamos em consideração as transformações nas formas de sociabilidade que ocorreram durante a primeira metade do século XIX e os discursos sobre os lugares das mulheres produzidos neste período. Também refletimos sobre a concepção de amor romântico exposta na obra do poeta, pensando como isto interferia na forma de registrar a relação entre homens e mulheres, e sobre o ideal de amor materno, que ganhava espaço com a ascensão do modelo de família burguesa e que foi tema tanto da correspondência, trocada, majoritariamente, entre o poeta e sua mãe, quanto da produção literária de Álvares de Azevedo. / In this work that lies in the border between History and Literature we have tried to analyse the works of the romantic poet Álvares de Azevedo through the perspective of Gender History. I have given highlight to the correspondence of the author with different counterparts, to the literary studies \"George Sand Aldo o Rimador\" and \"Alfred de Musset Jacques Rolla\", and also to his book \"Lira dos Vinte Anos\". In this way we were able to observe how woman representation was built throughout texts of different nature trying in this manner to emphasize and give light to the differences and similarities between such representations. We took under consideration the social changes happening in the early 19th century and the discourse about women\'s role in that period. We have also pondered on the conception of romantic love exposed throughout the poet\'s works using that to think about how it interfered in the registry of gender relation at the time. Also we have thought about the ideal of motherly love that gained space through the ascension of bourgeois family models which were both the theme of great part of the letters exchanged between the poet and his mother and also the literary works of Álvares de Azevedo.

Previous issue date: 2017-02-17 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) / Um dos temas de destaque na obra-prima de Giovanni Boccaccio, o Decameron, escrita por volta de 1353, é o amor sensual, vivenciado por seus personagens de forma realista e naturalista. Dentre esses personagens, encontramos membros do clero católico, celibatários, e é para eles que voltamos o nosso olhar. Pretendemos traçar as características da abordagem de Boccaccio ao tema do amor sensual no celibato clerical em dez novelle da obra e, com isso, levantar quais concepções de amor, indivíduo e natureza humana são encontradas nas entrelinhas dessas histórias. Para analisarmos o corpus, tomaremos como base a fundamentação do celibato na Igreja Católica, exposta por Brown (1990); a doutrina do amor em Boccaccio, que trata o amor sensual com realismo e naturalismo, abordada por Scaglione (1963) e Givens (1968); a retórica de Aristóteles (2006), já que os personagens usam a retórica para obter êxito na conquista amorosa; as considerações de Ó Cuilleanáin (1984) e Smarr (2014) sobre a representação decameroniana do clero; além de estudos sobre o autor e obra, como os de Auerbach (2007; 2013). Com base em Berger (1972) e Nodelman (1988), analisaremos ilustrações que representam o amor sensual praticado por personagens celibatários, feitas por Alex Cerveny. No Decameron, os clérigos são dessacralizados, retratados como homens comuns, nos quais a natureza e o instinto se fazem presentes. A nosso ver, esses homens e mulheres são levados pela instituição católica a abandonarem obrigatoriamente a sexualidade, mas eles não desejam renunciar efetivamente a esse aspecto que é inerente à vida humana. / One of the main themes in the masterpiece of Giovanni Boccaccio, the Decameron, written around 1353, is the sensual love, experienced by its characters in a realistic and naturalistic way. Among those characters, we find members of the Catholic clergy who are celibates, and who are the holders of our attention. We intend to describe the characteristics of Boccaccio’s treatment of the sensual love theme in clerical celibacy in ten novelle from the book and present which conceptions of love, individual and human nature are found in those stories. To analyse the corpus, we will consider the foundation of celibacy in the Catholic Church, exposed by Brown (1990); the doctrine of love in Boccaccio, that treats sensual love with realism and naturalism, approached by Scaglione (1963) and Givens (1968); the Aristotle’s rhetorics (2006), since the characters use rhetorics to succeed in loving conquest; the considerations of Ó Cuilleanáin (1984) and Smarr (2014) on the decameronian representation of the clergy; besides studies about the author and book, such as the ones by Auerbach (2007; 2013). Based on Berger (1972) and Nodelman (1988), we will analyse some illustrations which depict the sensual love experienced by celibate characters, drawn by Alex Cerveny. In the Decameron, clerics are unholy, portrayed as ordinary men, in whom nature and instinct are latent. Ce travail se propose de montrer l’articulation de la nature et de l’artifice au sein de la pensée de Rousseau. Nous verrons que la connaissance de la nature est bornée par une origine qui nous échappe et une puissance de transformation qui ne semble pas avoir de fin. Cela conduit notre auteur à remettre en cause l’existence d’un ordre de la nature sur le plan spéculatif et sur le plan moral.. Dans l’homme la nature va se révéler comme vide. La perfectibilité est l’effet de l’inachèvement de la nature de l’homme. Le devenir social de l’homme sera pensé comme l’effet de la découverte érotique de l’autre. Cette découverte altère le moi absolu de l’homme à l’état de nature et le reconfigure en un moi relatif exposé au manque de l’autre. De cette exposition résultent toutes les formes de la socialité, l’aliénation et la liberté. L’étiologie amoureuse de la dénaturation nous a permis de reconnaitre l’importance de la réflexion sur le goût dans la constitution de la sociabilité. La différence sexuelle apparait comme le résultat d’un processus de différentiation dont le ressort est le désir de plaire. Le désir de plaire sera pour Rousseau un obstacle à l’uniformité de la société. Il préserve les différences qui sont à la fois les conditions du bon goût et de la volonté générale. La dépendance de l’homme devenu social est paradoxalement ce qui fait de la liberté une propriété en puissance de la vie en société. Dans ce cadre, le peuple n’est ni un sujet, ni une instance juridique, il est la forme du lien sociale sous la détermination de la liberté. Il y a peuple lorsque le lien unissant chacun à l’État, et unissant les hommes entre eux sous les conditions de l’égalité et de la liberté, devient un intérêt particulier. / This thesis shows the articulation between nature and artifice in Rousseau's thought. Rousseau argues that the knowledge of nature is limited by an origin that escapes from us and by a transformational power that seems immeasurable. This leads him to interrogate the existence of a natural order, both at speculative and moral levels. The man of nature is interpreted as unfinished with an unlimited changing potency. Rousseau argues that man´s becoming is the result of the erotic discovery of the other. This discovery distorts the absolute I of the man in the natural state and reshapes them in a relative I - exposed to the other's absence. From this recognition stems all forms of sociality, alienation and liberty. “Denaturation”'s amorous aetiology allows us to recognize the centrality of taste in the constitution of sociability. Sexual difference appears as the consequence of a differentiation process guided by the desire to please. For Rousseau, the desire to please challenges society´s uniformity. He argues that both the conditions for the good taste and general shape/foster/configure difference. The dependency of the human – as social being- is what, paradoxically, makes freedom a potential property in social life. In this scenario, “the people” is neither a subject nor a juridical element. It represents the social tie shaped by the conditions of freedom and equality. “The people” emerges under the conditions of equality and liberty and when every individual is tied to the state and to each other reflecting the union of everybody´s particular interests / Naturaleza y artificio en la constitución de la sociabilidad en el pensamiento de Rousseau.Este trabajo se propone mostrar la articulación de la naturaleza y el artificio en el pensamiento de Rousseau. El conocimiento de la naturaleza está para Rousseau limitado por un origen inalcanzable y una potencia de transformación que parece infinita. Lo cual lleva al autor a cuestionar la existencia de un orden de la naturaleza tanto en el plano especulativo como en el plano moral. El hombre de la naturaleza se presenta como un ser inacabado, con una potencia de transformación ilimitada. El devenir social del hombre resulta del descubrimiento erótico del otro. Este descubrimiento altera el yo absoluto del hombre natural y lo reconfigura en un yo relativo expuesto a la falta del otro. De esta exposición resultan todas las formas de sociabilidad, la alienación y la libertad. La etiología amorosa de la desnaturación permite reconocer la importancia del gusto en la constitución de la sociabilidad. La diferencia sexual es el resultado de un proceso de diferenciación cuyo móvil es el deseo de gustar. El deseo de gustar es un obstáculo a la uniformidad de la sociedad. Preserva las diferencias, estas son la condición del buen gusto y de la voluntad general. La dependencia del hombre devenido social es paradójicamente lo que hace que la libertad sea una propiedad en potencia de la vida en sociedad. En este marco, el pueblo no es ni un sujeto, ni una instancia jurídica, es la forma del lazo social determinado por las condiciones de la igualdad y la libertad. Hay pueblo cuando el lazo que une cada uno al Estado, y a los hombres entre sí, bajo la condición de la igualdad y de la libertad, se transforma en el punto de unión de todos los intereses particulares.

This study aims to study the relation between genre pedagogy and motivation to read for pu- pils in the ages of six-nine. My data contains the interviews that was performed. I experienced some difficulties in the search for respondents, therefore the study only has four respondents. The respondents are active teachers, who teach pupils in the ages of six-nine and have a gen- rebased pedagogy in their class. The study is a qualitative study, that are influenced by her- meneutics and constructionism, which requires interpretation and reflection. According to my research the genre pedagogy has great significance to six-nine year olds’ motivation to read. The result show that, there is several aspects that affects pupils’ love for reading. How- ever, genre pedagogy can actually provide students understanding to what they read, which can increase the motivation to read. A critical approach is essential when you analyse a peda- gogical method, therefore both negative and positive effects of genre pedagogy are mentioned in the study.

1 Von Nächstenliebe zu Menschenliebe Zusammenfassung Die vorliegende Diplom-Arbeit ist dem Hauptthema der jüdisch-christlichen Ethik gewidmet, und zwar dem Thema der Nächstenliebe, ihrer Reichweite und Bedeutung. Der Ausgangspunkt der ganzen Arbeit ist der Auftrag "die Nächsten zu lieben" (Lv 19,18), der im Rahmen einer isolierten Moral der sakralen Gemeinschaft gleichgerade mit ihrer Rückseite (mit den Aufträgen im Dt 13 einen Götzendienst oder einen Fluch dem Gott mit Tod zu strafen) angesehen wird. Die supranatural gegründete Nächstenliebe, die von der Gottesliebe zu Menschen und von der Menschenliebe zum Gott abgeleitet ist, bezieht sich verständlich nur auf die Gottesfürchtige, die Gott und sein Gesetz aus ganzem Herz miteinander lieben. Nur diese bilden den Kreis von "Nächsten", wobei alle gottlose zu "Feinden" (einschliesslich der Blutsverwandten) gerechnet werden. Die Entstehung solcher Moral versteht man unter der Bedingungen ehemaligen Religiös- Territorialkonflikten. Esta tese assinala, com base na obra de Hannah Arendt, a fundamental importância do amor ao mundo para a educação. A filósofa explica que por meio da educação introduzimos as crianças no mundo humano e aponta o impasse que surge com a perda da tradição e o desmantelamento desse espaço comum na Era Moderna. Partindo desse problema, a questão central deste trabalho é: como despertar nos alunos o apreço pelo mundo que nos une com os diferentes, encorajá-los a encontrar seu lugar nele num momento em que a ausência de sentido e a preocupação com a sobrevivência se impõem, de modo que qualquer compromisso com o comum parece ser uma exigência deslocada e anacrônica? Arendt não propõe soluções, mas é rigorosa ao afirmar que quem educa é duplamente responsável: pelo mundo e pelas crianças na educação decidimos se amamos o mundo e seus novos habitantes. Posto que a autora não explicita o que vem a ser esse amor, investiga-se a noção do amor mundi, recorrendo ao conjunto de suas reflexões. Entende-se que, se o mundo é o lugar das histórias humanas no qual podemos estabelecer relações e nos revelar como pessoas, o amor a ele é uma resposta à destruição totalitária desse espaço humano e ao não-mundo da sociedade moderna organizada em torno do processo vital de produção e consumo. Com recurso a diversos conceitos de Arendt, principalmente os de ação e pensamento, aborda-se e discute-se a difícil tarefa educativa de acolher os jovens no mundo, de mostrar-lhes que, apesar de este lugar estar fora dos eixos, ainda vale a pena apostar nele, e de encorajá-los para que, por sua vez, estabeleçam seu vínculo singular com esse espaço comum e seu legado, pelo qual futuramente serão responsáveis. / This thesis, based on the work of Hannah Arendt, points out the fundamental importance which the love of the world has for education. The philosopher explains that we introduce the children into the human world through education and shows the impasse that arises from the loss of tradition and the disintegration of that common space in the modern age. Starting from that problem the central question of this work is: how to arouse in the students an appreciation of the world that joins us to different ones and how to encourage them to find their place in it in a moment in which meaninglessness and the preoccupation with survival impose themselves, so that any commitment to the common seems to be an out of place or anachronistic request? Arendt does not propose solutions, but is rigorous in asserting that whoever educates is doubly responsible in education we decide whether or not we love the world and its new inhabitants. Since the author does not explain what that love is, the notion of amor mundi is investigated having recourse to many of her reflections. The understanding achieved provided that the world is the place of human stories where we can establish relations and reveal ourselves as persons is that the love of it is an answer to the totalitarian destruction of that human space and to the wordlessness of the modern society organized around the vital process of production and consumption. Based on diverse concepts of Arendt, especially on those of action and thinking, we approach and discuss the difficult educational task of receiving the younger ones into the world, of showing them that, although this place is out of joint, it is still worth relying on it, and of encouraging them to establish by themselves their singular bond with this common space and its legacy, for which they will be responsible in the future.

Discutir os vínculos dos professores com o Magistério e explicar como esses vínculos se mantêm e se conservam é também uma das tarefas que a Psicologia Moral precisaria incorporar em seu campo de investigação, considerando-se a urgência de se refletir sobre a dimensão moral presente na subjetividade dos professores, e acreditando que as virtudes humanas são disposições que compreendem uma multiplicidade de aspectos: afetivos, cognitivos, sociais, culturais, históricos e outros. Além disso, no cenário sócio-educacional brasileiro contemporâneo consideramos da maior relevância saber o que pensam os professores, que vínculos estabelecem com a sua profissão, suas aspirações, motivações, princípios e valores. Essas inquietações conduziram-nos a investigar que representações fazem de si professores do Ensino Fundamental. Representações de Si são imagens que o sujeito faz de si mesmo e construídas como um conjunto de valores. Para isso, realizamos uma investigação com 60 professore(a)s do Ensino Fundamental de 5ª à 8ª série de diferentes cidades brasileiras situados na faixa etária entre 21 a 60 anos. Indagamo-nos também se e como a virtude do Amor comparecia nessas representações de si. A investigação buscou identificar as figuras admiradas pelos sujeitos bem como as características admiráveis em tais pessoas. Os resultados a que nossa investigação chegou apontaram que: os participantes se representam como professores apaixonados; relataram atitudes positivas frente à Educação, ao ensinar, ao aluno e seu aprendizado e se mostraram curiosos e interessados no conhecimento. As informações colhidas revelaram também as seguintes questões: a formação humana dos alunos e alunas, seu desenvolvimento e aprendizagem apareceram como uma meta educativa; o amor, a paixão, a alegria se destacaram como fundamentais para o ensinar. Valores Morais como: Respeito, Responsabilidade, Solidariedade, Companheirismo foram igualmente apontados pelos professores como importantes para serem incentivados nos alunos. Por fim, constamos a pertinência de nossa hipótese segundo a qual os professores que apresentam a Virtude do Amor como uma dimensão destacada em suas Representações de Si sentem-se satisfeitos e realizados pessoal e profissionalmente. / To discuss about the teachers links with the Magistery and explain how these links carry on and last is one of the tasks that the Moral Psychology should incorporate in its investigation, considering the urgency of thinking about the moral dimension in the teachers subjectivity and believing the human virtues are arrangements that many aspects: affective, cognitive, social, cultural, historical and others. Besides, in the Brazilian contemporary social teaching scenery, we consider how is important to know what the teachers think, which links they establish with their profession, their wishes, their motivations, their principles and worths. These inquietudes lead us to investigate which representations the teachers have about themselves in the fundamental teaching. The representations are images the people think about themselves and that they are formed as a whole of worths. For this, we made an investigation with sixty teachers of the Fundamental Teaching from the fifth to the eighth groups in different Brazilian cities with ages between twenty-one and sixty years old. We also asked if and how the virtue of love was in these representations about oneself. The investigation looked for identifying the people the teachers admire and their admirable marks. The results that our investigation gave us showed this: the people consider themselves as enthusiastic teachers, having positive attitudes considering the Education, teaching the student and his apprenticeships and they seemed curious and interested about knowledge. The informations we received also showed us the following questions: the human structure of the pupils, their development and apprenticeship appeared as an educative aim; the love, the passion, the gladness are primordial for teaching. Moral values as: respect, responsibility, solidarity, companionship were equally marked by the teachers and they consider very important to be encouraged among the pupils. Finally, we think that our hypothesis that the teachers who have the Virtue of Love as an important dimension in their representations about themselves is correct. A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo verificar se havia relação entre as \"Histórias de Amor\" descritas por Robert Sternberg e a satisfação conjugal. Esta pesquisa foi realizada com uma amostra de 50 casais heterossexuais, casados ou unidos consensualmente. Os objetivos específicos desta pesquisa foram os seguintes: identificar as \"Histórias de Amor\" mais preditoras da satisfação conjugal; verificar se havia semelhanças entre homens e mulheres nas \"Histórias de Amor\" com que mais e menos se identificavam e naquelas que mais e menos gostariam de viver; e verificar se havia relação entre o desejo de viver uma determinada \"História de Amor\" e a \"História\" que a pessoa efetivamente vivenciava. As \"Histórias\" que apresentavam enredos mais adequados socialmente foram aquelas que tiveram poder de predição positiva, enquanto que aquelas com enredos inadequados, segundo os padrões culturais, foram aquelas que apresentaram poder de predição negativa para a satisfação conjugal. Os casais apresentaram semelhanças no que concerne à identificação das \"Histórias de Amor\" com que mais e menos se identificam e, em média se mostraram satisfeitos com as \"Histórias\" que vivem e em seus relacionamentos conjugais. / The general purpose of this research was to identify any possible relationships between Robert Steinberg\'s \"Love Stories\" and couple satisfaction. 50 heterosexual couples, married or consensually living together, constituted the sample. Research specific objectives were: to identify \"Love Stories\" which were considered the most adequate to predict couple satisfaction; to verify if there were any similarities between men and women \"Love Stories\" and between those to which they either identify themselves or would like to reply on their own lives; to verify if there was any relationship between the wish of living a specific \"Love Story\" and the person\'s own \"real story\". Main findings were that the \"Love Stories\" of which the scripts were more socially adequate were those which were identified as having more positive prediction power, while those the scripts of which were socially inadequate according to the couples\' current cultural patterns were those which were considered as presenting negative prediction power for couple satisfaction. Couples presented similarities on relation to \"Love Stories\" they identify to with either more or less intensity and in average they were satisfied with the \"real living stories\" of their couple relationships.
