Det är viktigt, men utmanande : En intervjustudie om chefers upplevelse av arbetsmiljöutveckling / It is challenging, but important : An interview study about managers' experience of work environment development

Johansson, Jessica, Nyberg, Helen January 2020 (has links)
In a 2018 study, the Swedish Work Environment Authority found that 28% of active workers in Sweden experienced some form of work-related problem. Managers in an organization are responsible for maintaining and developing the work environment. The present study aims to investigate municipal operation managers' perception of the process of work environment development in their operations. We asked the following question to examine managers' perceptions: What opportunities and challenges do managers encounter in the development of the work environment? Ten interviews were conducted with department managers in various sectors of a municipality to investigate our question. A thematic analysis performed on the data revealed four overall themes. The results demonstrate that department managers perceive the development of work environment to be important but challenging. Challenges to the development of work environment arose when managers' priorities were out of sync with those of the rest of the organization. It was also difficult to manage the psychosocial work environment, as individuals each required unique interventions. Successful work environment development occurred when employees were engaged and involved in the process and had pertinent support from the human resources office. The present study demonstrates that although managers experience limitations in maintaining and developing work environment, their personal commitment to the task allows them to work towards continuous improvement.

Devce, Daorsa, Neziri, Donjeta January 2021 (has links)
This bachelor thesis centers on trust in relation to management control in a decentralized bank, and whether it pervades an Enabling control or Coercive formalization. The aim of the study isto understand how trust in a decentralized bank is affected based on its management controlsystems, established on the concept pair Enabling and Coercive within the case study company.Hence, this study will be about management control systems, in a business that historically andstill today, is characterized by rules, commissions and legislations that regulates its business.Prior enquiry has been conducted on how organizations use and apply enabling and coercive asmanagement control systems. Therefore, we wanted to study how the application of enablingand coercive formalization in a decentralized bank is reflected in the trust within the business. The study was made as a qualitative study with a deductive approach. The empirical evidencewas gathered through seven semi-structured interviews in Handelsbanken. The interviews werethe base for the conclusion in general terms. The interviews were recorded and then latertranscribed and formed the basis of the thematic analysis. The main conclusion that emerged from the study is that there is a coexistence of both enablingand coercive formalization in a decentralized bank. Both aspects that are characterized by acoercive environment, and aspects that are characterized by an enabling environment, affecttrust in the organization in different ways. The creation of relationships, as well as the creationof controls, which in theory are each other’s contrasts, increases trust in the staff of adecentralized bank. Empirinsamlades in genom sju semistrukturerade intervjuer i Handelsbanken.

6G wireless communication systems: applications, opportunities and challenges

Anoh, K., See, C.H., Dama, Y., Abd-Alhameed, Raed, Keates, S. 26 December 2022 (has links)
Yes / As the technical specifications of the 5th Generation (5G) wireless communication standard are being wrapped up, there are growing efforts amongst researchers, industrialists, and standardisation bodies on the enabling technologies of a 6G standard or the so-called Beyond 5G (B5G) one. Although the 5G standard has presented several benefits, there are still some limitations within it. Such limitations have motivated the setting up of study groups to determine suitable technologies that should operate in the year 2030 and beyond, i.e., after 5G. Consequently, this Special Issue of Future Internet concerning what possibilities lie ahead for a 6G wireless network includes four high-quality research papers (three of which are review papers with over 412 referred sources and one regular research). This editorial piece summarises the major contributions of the articles and the Special Issue, outlining future directions for new research.

Integration of Mental Health and Enabling Services in a Rural School-Based Setting: An Evidence-Based Initiative

Ferguson, Kimberly, Carnevale, Teresa 11 April 2024 (has links)
The Rural Expansion Program for At-risk Communities to Promote Health Outcomes through the Integration of Mental health and Enabling services in an Existing Primary Care School-Based Setting (REACH ME) program was established to increase access to mental health services at two existing school-based health centers (SBHC) in rural Hancock County, TN. These SBHCs are among the most unique in the nation, holding designations as federally funded qualified health centers - proving primary care services in a geographically isolated, rural, and medically underserved area. The aim of the project is increasing the number of patients receiving mental health and enabling services for not only the children and adolescents of Hancock County, but also adults who use the clinic for primary care services. This project employs a secondary data analysis to determine if there is an increase in the use of mental health services by patients using a school-based health center for care. Variables include number of visits, screening employed, and mental health diagnosis. Data gathered by health center staff and input into Excel will be used. Data collection is ongoing and is expected to be completed in February 2024. Early results indicate an increase in mental health and enabling services from initiation of the project. There were identified facilitators and barriers that impacted the project. Significance for this project is two-fold, identified facilitators and barriers to initiating integrated mental health services in the SBHC setting and increasing early screening, identification, referral and treatment of rural populations with mental health problems.

Främja läslust i fritidshemmet : Strategier och förutsättningar för läsaktiviteter / Promoting reading in the leisure Center : Strategies and Prerequisites for reading activities

Smith, Cecilia, Sandra, Törnblom January 2024 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to exemplify how effective after-school teachers can motivate reading in students in after-school activities. Questions that focus on are: In what way do teachers in after-school centers justify their involvement in reading-promoting efforts in the activities of the after-school centers? How after-school teachers create the conditions for reading activities in the after-school center? Through a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews, the involvement of nine after-school teachers in reading promotion initiatives and how they create the conditions for reading activities are investigated. The study maintains a theoretical framework based on the socio-cultural perspective that focuses on social and cultural aspects in everyday life, and how they affect each other. The results show that teachers in the after-school center emphasize the importance of creating a supportive and engaging reading environment where reading does not take place as an achievement, but that the activity should be a source where you can discover the joy of reading through your interest. A positive reading culture, where students' interests are at the center, can contribute to a sustainable love of reading. The didactic implications this study has presented are that the after-school center has a unique opportunity to offer a free zone from the performance-oriented school environment, which can promote a greater enjoyment of reading and understanding of what reading can bring. At the same time, the study points to challenges such as a lack of secluded and quiet reading places and sometimes out-of-date literature. By addressing these obstacles and continuing to develop creative promotion activities, the after-school center can effectively contribute to the students' positive attitude towards reading and their long-term reading development.

A journey towards emancipatory practice development

Heyns, Tanya 02 1900 (has links)
Rapid changes in the healthcare environment increase the need for nurse practitioners to be motivated, knowledgeable and skilled in order to ensure quality patient care. Accident and emergency units are challenging environments and by ensuring that nurse practitioners work in an enabling environment, they should be motivated, skilled and knowledgeable and be able to think critically to enhance their own professional growth and emancipated practice. This in turn may increase the nurse practitioners’ job satisfaction, which in turn encourage job retention and may influence patient outcomes positively. A journey towards a shared vision namely “emancipatory practice development” was undertaken in an accident and emergency unit of a Level III public hospital. Following the diagnosis of an emergency situation, action research was applied to change the perceived toxic environment to an enabling environment. The study was conducted within the critical social theory paradigm and descriptive, explorative and contextual in nature. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches were utilised. Throughout the action research for practitioners project, collaboration enhanced the emancipation of the nurse leaders, as key drivers of the process, as well as the nurse practitioners. Short and long-term actions were planned, implemented and amended based on observations and reflection following each cycle of the project. During this process a toxic environment was changed to an enabling environment, in which nurse practitioners were retained and additional spin-offs followed. Guidelines for the application and implementation of the process as utilised in this study were compiled to guide others who experience similar challenges. / Health Sciences / D.Litt. et Phil. Description of the uterlisation of maternal and child health care services Balaka district Malawi

Makuta, Chifundo Madziamodzi 11 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to describe the utilisation of maternal and child health (MCH) care services by mothers from four selected health facilities in the Balaka District of Malawi. A non- experimental quantitative descriptive research was conducted to determine the knowledge of mothers with regard to MCH services and to identify factors that impact on the utilisation of the MCH care, based on the Andersen’s behavioral model of health services utilization. A combination of proportionate stratified sampling and convenience sampling was used and data was collected by means of self-administered questionnaires. It was found that mothers know the available services and that a number of factors have an impact on the utilisation of health care services. These relate amongst others to educational level, finances and cultural beliefs. / Health Studies / M.A. (Public Health)

TENA Performance in a Telemetry Network System

Saylor, Kase J., Wood, Paul B., Malatesta, William A., Abbott, Ben A. 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2009 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Fifth Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 26-29, 2009 / Riviera Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / The integrated Network-Enhanced Telemetry (iNET) project conducted an assessment to determine how the Test and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA) would integrate into an iNET Telemetry Network System (TmNS), particularly across constrained environments on a resource constrained platform. Some of the key elements investigated were quality of service measures (throughput, latency, and reliability) in the face of projected characteristics of iNET Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) devices including size, weight, and power (SWAP), and processing capacity such as memory size and processor speed. This paper includes recommendations for both the iNET and TENA projects.

Organizing Future: An Integrated Framework for the Emergence of Collective Self-transcending Knowledge

Feldhusen, Birgit 11 1900 (has links) (PDF)
Within dynamic 21st century knowledge economies, future-building knowledge, that bears capacities to transcend existing boundaries and create something new, is of particular importance. Within the first decade of the new century, new concepts such as "learning from the future" or "self-transcending knowledge" developed within knowledge management. So far, they lacked a theoretical grounding in relevant learning theory as well as a sound acknowledgement and consideration of such knowledge structures' emergence and social embeddedness. Thus, key principles and leverage factors for designing respective knowledge processes were difficult to derive. This dissertation investigates theoretical ground that can provide a basis to explain the creation of future-building knowledge in collective structures. It is guided by the following research question: "How can the emergence of self-transcending knowledge in collective organizational settings be rooted in theories of knowledge, learning and cognition?" Starting from the model of knowledge-based management, the model is expanded by exploring cognitive, creative and social systemic aspects of knowledge creation on a transdisciplinary basis. Research draws on constructivist learning theory, complexity-based approaches in knowledge management and organizational learning, recent accounts in cognitive science (enaction/embodiment) and a creative logic of emergence to derive an integrated model for collective self-transcending knowledge. The model contributes to the integration of knowledge management, organizational learning and cognitive science, expanding knowledge-based management towards attention-based management. The model's three dimensions and three domains form an integrated theoretical basis to derive key principles and leverage factors for steering future-building knowledge processes. Simultaneously, they reveal leverage factors' limited - i.e. enabling, not determining - impact on processes of "organizing future". (author's abstract)
