Svanberg, Carolina January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate how a group of people with bipolar disorder finds that they have been treated by social security officers in the social services and investigate if there were any things that could change in the treatment. The collected data is from four focused, semi structured, chat interviews, where the selection consisted of people with bipolar disorder who have had contact with social services. The most important result from the collected data in relation to purpose and questions is that stigmatization towards certain interviewees occurs in their meetings with social security officers. However, some interviewees have also experienced a professional response where an open dialogue has existed. Those who have been interviewed think that the response can change through better responsiveness, preparation, more personal support and better individualized actions.

The Employment of Doctrine within the Academic Education of Swedish Officers

Törnqvist Tibblin, Gustav January 2018 (has links)
Doctrines are by nature dogmatic and academic education is by nature skeptic. As the two perspectivesare opposites to each other it would be plausible to assume that the nature of their contradictionwould exist between doctrines and military academic education. Though no research has been madeon how or to what extent these contradictions exist. This thesis aims therefore to investigate the relation between Swedish doctrines and military academiceducation from dogmatic and skeptical perspectives. Consequently, explaining to what extentthey correspond to one another and how they can be compared. The result reveals that Swedish doctrines generally correspond to military academic education to alow degree, where deviations may range from very low to moderate. The analysis further displaysstrong multifaceted dissonance in their correspondence to one another, but also within Swedish doctrinesand military academic education separately.

Implementation av 24-timmarsmyndigheten i Offentlig Verksamhet : -

Karlsson, David January 2008 (has links)
This article researches the implementation of a case and workflow system called Platina at the County Administrative Board in Västerbotten County. Problems with the implementation were identified through interviews and observations with employees. The empiric studies showed that the County Administrative Board did not get a fully functional system, but in fact a system that demands continued development to meet the expected demands. There is also a risk that the development of the system will be aborted due to organizational changes.

Funseth, Jonas, Hansdotter, Amanda January 2018 (has links)
An increasingly common phenomenon in today's working life is that the production of services is organized through production models that originally was created to organize the production of things. One of these organizational models is Lean, which has been implemented within the Swedish Social Insurance Agency. This bureaucratic organization has thus been structured into even more rules, procedures and processes. Is there any room for learning in such an organization? This study is an attempt to contribute to an understanding of how learning in daily work occurs in a regulated organization where rules and procedures are part of the job. The aim of the study is to investigate the social insurance officers personal experience of learning in the daily work. To answer the purpose of the study the following questions has been formulated; How do social insurance officers experience that common routine descriptions of work design influence their learning? How do social insurance officers experience that they learn from their colleagues? To what extent do social insurance officers experience learning over the boundaries of their own team? The study is based on a qualitative method using eight semi-structured interviews with social insurance officers at the Swedish Social Insurance Agency. The empirical data has been analyzed from Wengers theory Communities of practice. The result shows that rules and procedures are used to fill knowledge gaps and thus contribute to learning. The social insurance officers also learn in daily work through social interaction by informal discussions and formal meetings. By studying other authorities or individuals' experiences, the social insurance officers can develop cross-border learning. However, the perceptions of the social insurance officers differ when it comes to knowledge and experience exchange with actors outside the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.

“Red Tabs” Life and death in the 6th South African Armoured Division, 1943 – 1945

Bourhill, James F. January 2014 (has links)
The thesis seeks to understand, first and foremost, what the members of the 6th South African Armoured Division in Italy during the Second World War experienced in their day-to-day lives on campaign. It is therefore primarily a social history. Although an exhaustive analysis of the demographics of the division is beyond the scope of this study, an attempt was made in Chapter 2 to identify some of the characteristics of the volunteers and their motivations for enlisting. Recruitment statistics and other sources show that in the final stage of the war, volunteers were most likely to be school-leavers and university students. Chapters three to eight detail the daily life in camp and on the road as the division progressed up the length of Italy. The main themes revolve around the necessities of life, recreation, leisure and ways of dealing with long periods of inactivity. The more controversial topics of sexuality, alcohol use, and battle fatigue are not avoided. Regardless of the capacity in which they served, all those attached to the 6th South African Armoured Division experienced the country and its people. Homesickness, discomfort and the fulfilling of basic needs was the common bond. Chapter nine examines the topic of casualties and what it reveals about the men and their experience. At first glance, it would appear that the casualty rate was exceptionally low for a front line division. However, on closer examination, the casualty rate was found to be in line with that experienced by other nations involved in the Italian campaign. As expected, it was found that casualties occurred mainly in infantry units, although accidents accounted for 25 per cent of injuries. In the final chapter, the conclusions are presented and discussed in a theoretical context. Memory is used as a category of analysis. Scholars are in agreement that distortion and cleansing occurred due to the tendency of contemporary accounts to accentuate the positive. The needs of post-war society also helped to ensure that the language and experience of the front line soldier was overwhelmed / Thesis (DPhil)--University of Pretoria, 2014. / lk2014 / Historical and Heritage Studies / DPhil / Unrestricted

The development of professional military education at the United States Air Force Academy

Kennedy, Douglas Blake January 1900 (has links)
Doctor of Philosophy / Department of History / Donald J. Mrozek / This dissertation examines the development of the professional military studies curriculum at the United States Air Force Academy. The study explores the rationale behind establishing an Air Force Academy, along the lines similar to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point or the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. The quest for an additional academy emphasized the need for specialized training of air force cadets and creating a common bond for its future officer corps, rather than recognizing the necessity to equip them with a professional military education regarding warfare and how air power influences war, for example. This trend continued in the two main studies used to justify the Air Force Academy, as well as the development of the initial curriculum, where an integrated academic curriculum, one that emphasized both the sciences and engineering as well as the social sciences and humanities, placed any discussion of professional military studies on the back burner. The challenge of the Academy’s general academic curriculum on the cadet’s time left little room for the development of a strong, rigorous professional military studies program. However, the confluence of a cheating scandal at West Point and the resulting report, as well as a reflection during the 25th anniversary of the Academy’s founding in 1979, which developed questions on the professional military studies program within the curriculum, led to the establishment of a Permanent Professor within the Deputy Commandant for Military Instruction, and resulted in drastic changes to the curriculum for the cadets, specifically involving professional military studies. Today, the United States Air Force Academy has a Department of Military and Strategic Studies under the overall authority of the Dean of Faculty. This department has as its charter the role to provide “the study of the context, theory, and application of military power”—with special emphasis on the role of airpower to the art and science of war. The document that helps define the duty of the department also states that this necessary study for officer candidates constitutes “the essence of a military academy education” and, most certainly, the central core of a professional military studies program.

Mega Event Organizing Committees: Investment in Anti-Doping Personnel

Koop, Matthew January 2016 (has links)
Peer reviewed literature currently provides little knowledge of how to recruit and train Doping Control Officers (DCOs) for Mega Sport Events. This study adds to the existing body of literature on creating knowledge transfer and legacy for future Mega Event Organizing Committees. A phenomenological designed study was conducted through the use of a qualitative on-line survey during the 2015 Toronto Pan American Games. A survey response rate of 58% was achieved. Survey responses by DCOs were analyzed using inductive coding to identify four main themes; i) DCO motivations, ii) training program design, iii) engagement and support, and iv) barriers to participation in the results. Recommendations include using mixed methods for future studies, provide DCOs with training and evaluation opportunities prior to the Mega Sport Event, and developing mentorship opportunities during games operations. Additional research is needed to create greater understanding of DCO motivations and perceptions beyond this study.

Literary pictures of Charles XII : Perception of the Swedish warrior king in the texts between the years 1731-1995

Karlsson, Sara January 2017 (has links)

La nature de la rémunération des dirigeants sociaux / The nature of remuneration of corporate officer

Dalus, Noël 18 December 2018 (has links)
The remuneration of corporate officers is a highly publicized subject, particularly because of the impression, rightly or wrongly, of the important amounts received by corporate officers of numerous large companies. The legal relationship under which corporate officers perceive their remuneration does not appear to be precisely defined within the framework of positive law. There are two types distinct natures of remunerations. While one has a contractual nature, the other one is institutional by nature. The nature would depend on several criteria including the legal form of the company studied, whether the company is listed or not, and the type of remuneration paid. This analysis, inherited from the French corporate law history of the twentieth century, does not seem accurate to us. The private enterprise is first and foremost an economical reality, before being apprehended by the law. In a legal order such as ours, i.e. a liberal democracy and a market economy, the private enterprise, whether it is represented by a legal personality or not, is always structured by the private property and the contract. Property and exchange (through contracts) translate the principle of individual liberty within the civil law. The private enterprise of a legal order, which recognizes the economic freedoms, is first the exercise of the entrepreneurial freedom, alone or with others. Any power exercised within a private enterprise roots in a legal act of private law, generally a contract. The company with a legal person allows the realization of various legal effects, including the protection of the company assets. The legal autonomy of the company, authorized by law, should however not hide the fact that the company is not independent from those who founded it or their successors. The company officer, the one in charge of the company management, derives its power and remuneration from a contract. This remuneration, as the object of a contractual obligation, has always the same cause, i.e. the compensation for a management work, in the broad sense of the term.
