A Critical Evaluation Of The Socialist Journal &quot / aydinlik&quot / Within A Marxian Theoretical Framework

Gundogan, Ercan 01 July 2005 (has links) (PDF)
ABSTRACT A CRITICAL EVALUATION OF THE SOCIALIST JOURNAL AYDINLIK WITHIN A MARXIAN THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK G&uuml / ndogan, Ercan Ph.D., Department of Political Science and Public Administration Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Okyayuz July 2005, 855 pages The thesis concerns with the conception of class and revolution in Marxian meta-theory and examines its reception by the Turkish Marxist left through an analysis of the Socialist Journal Aydinlik (1968-1971). Survey demonstrates that the reception is obscured by strategic debates, and is also not perfectly realized due to the needs of the rapid development of the Turkish socialist left after 1960s. Marxian theory is used mainly to justify the national democratic revolutionary strategy which is presented as only valid strategy, against socialist revolutionary strategy. National Democratic Revolutionary strategy is suggested to close the gap between Marxian framework which exclusively focuses on the proletarian socialist politics and the undeveloped revolutionary conditions of the underdeveloped societies. However, this gap is closed only at the expense of creating new gaps between Marx and the country. Class phenomena are analyzed in the framework of the imperialism-feudalism-comprador bourgeoisie alliance and popular or national classes. This strategy suggests that only after national democratic revolution is perfectly completed, socialist revolutionary struggle can be valid. It thereby postpones the possibility of socialist struggle and hence Marx to an undetermined future.

Från tweet till revolution : En jämförande studie av mediefenomenet #metoo / From Tweet to Revolution : A Comparative Study of the Media Phenomenon #metoo

Wallin, Ida Maria January 2018 (has links)
On October 15th, 2017, the American actress Alyssa Milan posted a tweet on the Social Media Platform Twitter which soon would have led to major consequences for people across the globe. Milano urged her followers to comment “#metoo” on the post if they had ever been subjected to sexual harassment or abuse – an action of hers which quickly evolved into a widespread campaign in USA as well as in other countries, there among Sweden. With #metoo's great impact, we now have a unique opportunity to explore today's gender equality debate and feminist discourse based on the new type of networking community. Thus, this study aims – with a comparative as well as a charting intention – to further explore the #metoo phenomenon based on media reporting from the largest daily newspaper in Sweden (Dagens Nyheter) and in the USA (USA Today). The main purpose is to investigate how the journalism takes place in relation to contemporary gender discourse and how it differs between these two countries; which in the long run aims to contribute to increased knowledge about the inherent gender equality issues of #metoo and the discursive image of these problems each media has chosen to reproduce to their fellow residents. The method used in the study is sorted under a qualitative content analysis focusing on the interpretation and understanding of contentive meaningful aspects. Results show that articles from USA Today and Dagens Nyheter differ a lot in how they relate to theoretical concepts of performativity, normalization, power, and a broader understanding of gender structures. Correspondingly, large differences can be identified in how the articles relate – or lack to relate – to a further perception of "a male perpetrator" and "a female victim”. This variation is primarily derived from a lack of structural thinking in relation to perceptions about gender at the expense of a more individual- and celebrity- focused journalistic view but could also be partly correlated to an absent lingua franca within the gender discourse of these two countries.

January 2010 (has links)
A partir de sua experiência com os cubanos, Debray criaria a teoria do ―foco‖, e essa cumpriu, especialmente na década de 1960, o papel de uma ―teoria da revolução latino-americana‖, tendo a revolução cubana como paradigma / Abstract: In the present work, we aim at investigating the foundations of the elaboration, development and repercussion of the ―Latin American revolution theory‖, put forth by the French intellectual Régis Debray, from the analysis of his book Revolução na revolução, published in 1967, in particular. Debray's formulations, having taken inspiration in the 1959 Cuban revolution, deeply influenced the political culture of the Latin American left wing from the 1960's onward. His theses influenced the regional radicalized left wing, who adopted armed struggle as the only alternative to the realization and consolidation of the continent's revolutionary project. Régis Debray got more involved with the Cuban Revolution than any other Western left-winged intellectual, becoming one of its main ideologists. From his experience with the Cubans, Debray would create the ―foco‖ theory, which had, particularly in the 1960's, the vole of a ―Latin American revolution theory‖, having the Cuban revolution as its paradigm / Mestre

Images de la Révolution dans le théâtre français de 1968 à 1989- Analyses de 1789 et de 1793, dans l’après Mai 68, de La Mort de Danton et de La Mission/ Au Perroquet vert, dans le cadre du Bicentenaire / Images of the Revolution in French theatre from 1968 to 1989 - Studies of 1789 and 1793 in the aftermath of May 1968, and of Danton's Death and The Mission/The Green Cockatoo as part of the Bicentennial

Wang, Shihwei 08 June 2015 (has links)
This thesis focuses on four performances staged in two periods when the orthodox view of the socialist revolution was being challenged by the spread of neo-liberalism. In parallel, it aims to throw light on the various theatrical and theoretical approaches to the historical myth and their inextricable link with the sociopolitical problems of the age. In light of the deep sense of demoralisation felt by activists in the wake of the political defeat of the May 68 movement, the Théâtre du Soleil tries to demystify the history of the French Revolution to examine the contemporary revolutionary spirit and the growth of democracy in our modern age. In 1789 and 1793 it reveals the general sense of combativeness that pervaded all age groups, and turns the spotlight on the critical problems of current political issues. In contrast to the commemorative and festive atmosphere of the bicentennial of the French Revolution, Klaus Michael Grüber and Matthias Langhoff adopt a more objective, theoretical approach in order to reveal the ambiguities that exist between individual understanding and collective engagement, between the existential dilemma of disillusioned revolutionaries and their political ideals. Danton's Death and The Mission/The Green Cockatoo reflect the general sense of disorientation felt in the wake of the collapse of the Eastern bloc at the end of 1989. These four theatrical pieces allow us to gain an insight into the contradictions of humankind when confronted with momentous historical events in order to move beyond the limits of previous revolutions and create new possibilities for future revolutionary actions.

Ett halvår av #hashtaggs : En studie om hur medvetenheten kring sexuella trakasserier har påverkats efter #Metoo-kampanjen / Half a year of #hashtags : – A qualitative study on how the awareness of sexual harassment has changed after the #Metoo campaign

Nessö, Linn, Tekbas, Sumerye January 2018 (has links)
In this essay we have used a qualitative interview approach to study the #Metoo movement that took place during 2017. Our aim has been to examine if ordinary Swedish citizens may have changed their views of sexual harassment in the wake of #Metoo, and if #Metoo and gender has contributed to these changes. We have carried out 8 interviews, 4 of them with men and 4 of them with women, all aged 22-25 years old and not in any close relationships or with children. Using several theories on gender roles, power structures and sex-related crimes, we put our empirical material into a theoretical context, seeking to find if our chosen theories could provide deeper explanations to the stories of our respondents and the themes we had ourselves identified. We found that the theories we had picked correlated well with our empirical material, with one important exception. While our respondents described several aspects of gender roles, power structures and sex-related crimes, the men never expressed a desire to maintain and uphold the older relationships of power within society, and instead attributed those reasonings to belong to the older generation. This turned out to partially contradict the prediction we had found in the theories. Our conclusion with this study is that there is a renewed foundation present in the viewpoints of our interviewees towards further development of the Swedish society to provide a just and equal everyday life for both women and men, to continue changing traditional gender roles and distributions of power, and that #Metoo has played a central role in that reinforcement. While these processes have been ongoing for many decades, we feel that our study has shown that #Metoo has provided a renewed boost on the path to an equal Swedish society.

Théorie de l'acteur stratégique appliquée à l'Histoire de la famille / "Unity is Strength" : A Family and its Networks. The prodigious rise of the Cibiel family, from peddling to high finance (1754-1914). Theory of strategic player applied to family History

Malgras, Philip 18 January 2018 (has links)
The present thesis aims at determining the origins and forces of the social climbing of the French family Cibiel, between 1754 and 1914, through four generations. Within these 160 years, the family rose from local peddling to international trade and finance. Starting from textile trading in the Southwest of France, the Cibiels gradually built a financial and industrial empire which stretched over all the fields impacted by the Industrial Revolution — transports, mining, metallurgy, urban modernizing —, and accumulated a considerable estate. The analysis of this gradual transformation enables the understanding of the strategies and logics implemented by the various "players" of the family. They forged synergistic common games and individual games to conquer a major economic and socio-political power within elite networks. Their social climbing hinges on an unusual family network, that developed itself through a counters approach, similar to the Rothschilds network. The network analysis and the sociology of organizations methodologies have been used, particularly the "strategic player" theory of Michel Crozier and Erhard Friedberg, to study the Cibiels’ dynamics. They support the assessment of what makes unity a strength. The emergence of a "key player" at each of the first three generations plays a leading role in the family collective. With the break introduced by an intrafamilial "confrontational strategy" at the last generation came the end of the prodigious "good fortune" of the Cibiel family and of its singular success story.
