[pt] Embora o tema Sistema de Medição de desempenho – SMD venha sendo objeto de muitos estudos por acadêmicos e práticos, a literatura acadêmica ainda carece de estudos que abordem, de forma específica, cada fase do ciclo de vida do SMD. O mesmo se reflete na indústria, onde são feitos grandes esforços nas fases de desenho e implantação e verifica-se menos atenção na fase de revisão. Nesse contexto, esta dissertação tem a proposta de apresentar um framework hábil para ser aplicado em revisões de SMD. Posteriormente, este estudo também se propôs a relatar um estudo de caso de revisão de SMD numa cadeia de suprimentos no setor de óleo e gás. Como produto final, apresenta-se o framework e uma nova lista de indicadores que está em fase de estudo para implantação na empresa estudada. / [en] Although the subject Performance Measurement System (PMS) has been the subject of many academic and practical studies, the academic literature still lacks studies that specifically address each phase of the PMS life cycle. The same is reflected in the industry, where there are major efforts in the design and deployment phases and less attention in the review phase. In this context, this dissertation proposes to present a framework that can be applied to PMS reviews. Subsequently, this paper also proposed to report a case study of PMS revision in an oil and gas supply chain. As final product, the framework is presented and a new list of indicators is being studied for implementation in the company studied.

This whole work was visualized through a context where big challenges were presented in the last decades for the management of organizations in general. Strong competition, among other factors, has motivated studies and researches about business management models for companies, including the nonprofit ones. The market related to private higher education in Brazil has experienced a strong offer expansion as a result of the perception of business opportunities in this area. Therefore, the management of higher education institutions represents a challenge to their directors, in particular the management of the private and nonprofit ones. The characteristics of such institutions demand the adaptation of the management model to the characteristics of a very competitive and distinct market regulated by the government. The starting point of this work was the review of the bibliography about the performance measurement theme. Through case study, quantitative and qualitative researches, the current management model of the institution was identified. From this point on, it was possible to identify the necessities of the institution and compare them with the performance measurement models studied. At this stage, it was possible to relate theory and practice and identify the methodology of the group on focused and choose the performance measurement model to be proposed as a management support. It was proposed a performance measurement model based on Balanced Scorecard. Five perspectives were created and the strategic objectives and the performance indicators were linked to them. With the proposition of the cause and effect relations between strategic objectives and the Strategic Map of the institution, which allow us to line up the objectives with the definite strategies, we presented the results, which served as a basis for the fulfillment of the objective of this work / Instituição de Ensino Superior sem Fins Lucrativos, baseado em indicadores de desempenho, utilizando o BSC Balanced Scorecard, visando garantir que as estratégias e as ações que delas se desdobrarem estejam alinhadas com a sua missão e visão. Todo este trabalho foi visualizado através de um contexto, onde grandes desafios foram apresentados a partir das últimas décadas para a gestão das organizações em geral. O acirramento da concorrência, entre outros aspectos, têm incentivado cada vez mais estudos e pesquisas a cerca dos modelos de gestão das empresas , incluindo as sem fins lucrativos. E também o mercado de educação superior privada no Brasil tem experimentado forte expansão da oferta, decorrente da percepção de oportunidades de negócio nesta área. Assim, a gestão de Instituições de Ensino Superior em particular, as privadas e sem fins lucrativos, tem representado um desafio para seus gestores. As características dessas organizações exigem a adaptação do modelo de gestão às características de um mercado fortemente concorrencial, regulado pelo Estado e bastante diferenciado. Como ponto inicial do trabalho, partiu-se de uma revisão bibliográfica acerca do tema medição de desempenho. Com o estudo de caso procurou-se a identificação do atual modelo de gestão da instituição, por meio de pesquisas qualitativas e quantitativas. A partir disso foi possível identificar as necessidades da instituição e cruzá-las com os modelos de medição de desempenho estudados. Nesta etapa foi possível relacionar teoria e prática e identificar a metodologia do grupo focado, apartir daí escolher o modelo de medição de desempenho a ser proposto como apoio à gestão. Na sequencia é proposto um modelo de medição de desempenho, baseado no Balanced Scorecard. Foram criadas cinco perspectivas, os objetivos estratégicos e os indicadores de desempenho a eles vinculados. Com a proposição das relações de causa-e-efeito entre os objetivos estratégicos e o Mapa Estratégico da instituição, que permitem alinhar os objetivos às estratégias definidas, foram apresentados os resultados obtidos que serviram de base para o cumprimento do objetivo deste trabalho

The dairy industry is a complex system that involves many stakeholders and processes, from production to distribution. To measure and improve the performance of this system, a comprehensive and reliable Performance Measurement System (PMS) is needed. A PMS is a tool that helps to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain operations. One of the components of a PMS is the key performance indicators (KPIs), which reflect the performance of specific aspects of the supply chain. This thesis explores how KPIs can be used to enhance logistics performance in the dairy industry. The research is based on a single case study of a global company that operates in the dairy sector, which faces challenges such as high competition, customer demand variability, and food waste. The research uses a mix of literature review, interviews, and data analysis to identify and evaluate the relevant KPIs for logistics performance, as well as their interrelationships and impacts. The research applies the interpretive structural modeling (ISM) method to develop a hierarchical model of the KPIs and their causal relationships. The interpretive structural model of the indicators shows that the current indicators commonly used in the dairy industry today are not suitable for measuring performance, the indicators do not affect the current performance significantly but rather reflect the. This paper proposes a methodology for qualitatively evaluating performance measures, based on the integration of the ISM approach, the MICMAC analysis, and the seven criteria of a KPI. The ISM approach is a technique for identifying and analyzing the interrelationships among elements of a complex system. By applying this methodology, organizations and researchers can assess the suitability and importance of a set of KPIs. / Mejeriindustrin är ett komplext system som involverar många intressenter och processer, från produktion till distribution. För att mäta och förbättra systemets prestanda behövs ett heltäckande och tillförlitligt system för prestationsmätning (PMS). Ett PMS är ett verktyg som hjälper till att utvärdera effektiviteten i leveranskedjans verksamhet. En av komponenterna i ett PMS är nyckeltal (KPI:er), som är mått som återspeglar prestandan för specifika aspekter av leveranskedjan. Denna studie syftar till att undersöka hur KPI:er kan användas för att förbättra logistiken inom mejeriindustrin. Forskningen baseras på en fallstudie av ett globalt företag som är verksamt inom mejerisektorn, som står inför utmaningar som hög konkurrens, varierande kundefterfrågan och matsvinn. Forskningen använder en blandning av litteraturstudier, intervjuer och dataanalys för att identifiera och utvärdera relevanta KPI:er för logistikprestanda, samt deras inbördes relationer och påverkan. Forskningen tillämpar metoden ISM (Interpretive Structural Modeling) för att utveckla en hierarkisk modell av KPI:erna och deras orsakssamband. Den tolkande strukturella modellen av indikatorerna visar att de nuvarande indikatorerna som vanligtvis används i mejeriindustrin idag inte är lämpliga för att mäta prestanda, indikatorerna påverkar inte den nuvarande prestationen avsevärt utan återspeglar snarare resultaten. I denna rapport föreslås en metod för att utvärdera prestationsmått på ett kvalitativt sätt, baserat på integrationen av ISM-metoden, MICMAC-analysen och de sju kriterierna för en KPI. ISM-metoden är en teknik för att identifiera och analysera de inbördes relationerna mellan olika delar i ett komplext system. Genom att tillämpa denna metod kan organisationer och akademiker utvärdera lämpligheten och vikten av en uppsättning eller en KPI.

Who are we and what do we measure? : A case study of the dynamic relationship between performance measurement and organizational identity

Performance measurements have been described as a tool by which management can communicate expected standards of behavior as well as a shared meaning among members regarding the intended direction of the firm. In parallel, the organizational identity field relies on the premise that members can answer the question “who are we as an organization?” through a sense of shared understanding. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the implications a performance measurement system has on the employees’ perception of “who we are“, related to the theoretical framework of organizational identity. This paper utilizes a qualitative research method, a case-based approach of a Swedish life science company which is conducted in an exploratory manner. The case company is chosen due to its contextual setting regarding the newly implemented performance measurement system, along with the inherent characteristics of the industry in general, which is typically considered to be incongruent with such quantitative measurements. The empirical data is collected through eight interviews with members from the chosen case company, as well as through internal documents describing its performance measurement system. The authors propose a revised theoretical framework in which performance measurements and organizational identity are investigated through a conceptual model which explores their dynamic relationship. The findings reinforce well-known ideas of performance measurements and organizational identity, along with providing new insights on the dynamics between them.
