Two Nordic States: : A Comparative Analysis of Sex Purchase Laws in Sweden and Finland and Their Impact on the Concept of Female Empowerment

Eriksson, Isabell January 2023 (has links)
The primary objective of this thesis is to conduct a comparative analysis of Sweden'slegislation, that criminalizes the purchase of sexual services, with Finland's laws thatdistinguish prostitution from human trafficking and prohibit the purchase of sexual services ifthe customer is aware of or ought to have suspected that the prostitute is a victim of humantrafficking. The study aims to identify and examine the core differences between these laws and how they reflect distinct views on prostitution and women, and the extent to which they are aligned with gender equality. The study employs a liberal sex work perspective which regards prostitution as a form of work that can be separated from the individual's body and aneo-abolitionist perspective that views prostitution, whether voluntary or involuntary, as a harmful and exploitative practice that oppresses women. The study employs a most-similardesign and ideological analysis to address the research questions. The results reveal the legislations' role in promoting gender equality as part of a broader feminist struggle against patriarchal structures. Sweden's law addresses gender inequality by identifying prostitution as a manifestation of male violence against women, while Finland's law targets exploitation insex trafficking, maintaining gender equality by protecting those most vulnerable inprostitution.

[en] CHANGES AND ENDINGS: DYNAMICS OF THE ANTHROPOCENE FROM EARTH SYSTEM SCIENCES TO CRITICAL INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS / [pt] MUDANÇAS E FINS: DINÂMICAS DO ANTROPOCENO DE CIÊNCIAS DO SISTEMA TERRESTRE PARA TEORIA CRÍTICA DE RELAÇÕES INTERNACIONAIS

MARIA THEREZA DUMAS NETO 04 November 2022 (has links)
[en] This dissertation attempts to critically analyze the mobilization of the concept of the Anthropocene by Critical International Relations literature. It does so with a particular focus on the origins of the concept within Earth System Sciences (ESS), and within a more general discussion over the scientific authority of modern science and its connections to practices of world-making - discussed specifically in terms of scientific cosmologies - and propositions over international politics. As such, the discussion explores the construction of ESS and the formulation of the Anthropocene as related to the political commitments of the discipline and proposes the use of the Foucauldian problematization to analyze the political solutions stemming from the discipline. Then, the dissertation connects Earth System Sciences to other scientific endeavors, in a different historical context in order to move a more generalized discussion on the power of scientific authority to inform international politics through world-making practices. With that, the discussion lays out two possible worlds and political implications stemming from interpretations of the Anthropocene. Finally, within IR literature the dissertation assesses how the appropriation of the Anthropocene is conducted, paying particular attention to the call for an ontological shift within the discipline and to the specific relationship between theory and political action present in the literature, both elements connected to ESS. At last, the notion of problematization is brought back in order to analyze the intellectual and political solutions brought forth by Critical IR in their mobilization of the Anthropocene.

A Study on Upper Secondary School Choice, School Fairs and the Battle for the Future

Harling, Martin January 2017 (has links)
The thesis explores and analyzes in four empirical articles how student subjects are constructed in everyday school life and what role market principles play in these constructions. In particular, it focuses on the logics that constitute upper secondary school choice practices, and how these are legitimized, interpreted and challenged. The results show that upper secondary school choice practices divide the present and the future of the students as the choice between an explicit utopia and an implied dystopia. Here, the students themselves are made responsible for their success or failure in realizing the utopia that is staged in school choice practices. This division generally appears to the actors as natural and apolitical, which in turn legitimizes its effects in terms of exclusion, inequality and segregation, often on the basis of social class. Furthermore, the market-driven school discourses construct and divide the students as if they were commodities of different value. The notion of fantasmatic logics can explain how students are gripped by market-driven discourses and how they handle contradictory conditions. For instance, it explains how, for students, school choice means they can transform and become who they want to be, while at the same time they can also become more of what they already are, by choosing to be who they are. Students, however, problematize and destabilize dominant market logics in the school in all examined contexts, which in the thesis is analyzed in terms of penetrations and destabilizations of how schools and education are linked to the market logics. By penetrating the presupposed neutrality of secondary school choice practice, the students expose how the market orientation of education in general and the staging of school fairs in particular appear to be in schools’, rather than students’, interest.

Comparaison du processus d'information sur support papier et sur support électronique : contribution à une nouvelle pédagogie de l'information pour l'orientation scolaire et professionnelle / Comparison of the information process on paper and electronically : contribution to a new pedagogy of information for educational and vocational guidance

Eben Rhouma, Ammar 17 December 2014 (has links)
The most overall objective of educational approaches the orientation is to organize the information and guidance of students in an ongoing educational process. It does not refer students; but to help them to design and lead gradually autonomously approach to school project and professional. In this context, it makes sense to develop in all students the skills to manage their information process, or even today, this is not the subject of systematic training in college. With the convergence of hypertext and multimedia formats renewal of educational problems of auto information is required. Why, despite all the institution's efforts, the level of information in guidance students he remains unsatisfactory? After a theoretical modeling phase of the information process to identify the causes of system malfunction, we undertook an action research in order to test the induced solutions of our theoretical results on the know go online. The advantage of this approach is to raise the educational team to the specific difficulties of reading information online, designing educational support an autonomous process of the student and help designers of new devices to take these specificities into account.

Severino, Augusta Teresa Barbosa. January 2020 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This research was conducted with the objective of investigating the development of the autonomy of five teachers from the early years of elementary school to work with mathematics, based on the proposals of the study group and continuing education supported by the Historical-Critical Pedagogy and Historical-Cultural Psychology, both for the planning of classroom activities and for reflection on educational reality and educational work. The research focused special attention on the construction of the teaching identity and how it is constituted through the group's study, discussion and reflection processes, culminating in the presentation of the Historical-Critical Pedagogy as a theoretical and methodological proposal to think about their own formation and pedagogical practice. The intention was to offer indications for the expansion of teacher autonomy through the theoretical, practical domain and constant problematization of reality, for teachers and, also, for continuing education courses, aiming to work on the development of the autonomy of teachers who work in the early years of elementary school, so that they can seek the construction of a critical and transforming teaching identity. For this, we used the elements of discourse analysis to interpret the semi-structured interviews and specific issues highlighted in the study group. We seek, through this research, to characterize the identity and autonomy of teachers, before and after the study group interventions, with a c... Argumentace v jazykové interakci: sekvenční struktura zdůvodňování v televizním duelu / Argumentation in interaction: The sequential structure of accounts in television debates

Kopecký, Jakub January 2016 (has links)
Argumentation in interaction: The sequential structure of accounts in television debates Abstract This dissertation concentrates on the sequential structure of argumentation in spoken interaction. The point of departure is the concept of argumentation as linguistic action based on accounting for a controversial position with the purpose of convincing listeners of its acceptability or in order to defend it when it is challenged. The dissertation's specific aim is to describe the interactional context of argumentation using material from TV debates. The study utilizes ethnomethodological conversation analysis combined with elements of argumentation theory. The objects of empirical analysis are the types of linguistic action in argumentation interaction (e.g. the call for argumentation or the challenge to a position or argument) and the means of signaling argumentation. The research focuses on the analysis of the sequential organization of the TV debate, including the system of turn-taking, and on describing the sequential contexts of the argumentation in this genre. Attention is devoted to so-called argumentative sequences, i.e. series of mutual argumentative responses (problematizations) by the debate participants. Also examined are other types of linguistic action which initiate argumentation by...

Epistémologie et didactique de la gestion : Le cas du concept de décision / Epistemology and didactics of management : the case of the concept of decision

Keradec, Hervé 19 September 2012 (has links)
This research stems from two questions: 1) What is the impact on scientific knowledge in management when it leaves the theoretical field of study to become an object of teaching? 2) Regarding the concepts taught in management how is it possible to preserve the initial strength they had when they were first introduced in the scientific field? The general issue of the articulation between epistemology and didactics in management leads to implement an original methodology for analysing a management concept in five steps: analyse the concept through a common sense approach and representations, study its scientific meaning from the treatises and works of great authors, identify the treatment of the concept in the national curriculum, study school textbooks, investigate the epistemological obstacles which hinder pupils from constructing the concept. This methodology applies here to the concept of decision, a central concept in management, which is precisely analysed in this research, and to the way it is apprehended didactically with a view to teaching students attending technological courses. Exploring the national curriculum and school textbooks has shown that the concept of decision adapted for teaching purposes is a specific construct which was created by textbook writers, half way between common sense and scientific sense. It has been made clear that the epistemological knowledge of management concepts is not enough to preserve their original strength. However the problematization of management concepts and the didactic study of their conceptualization require an epistemological culture.
