La servante dans l'œuvre de Marcel Proust : approche intertextuelle / The Servant in the works of Marcel Proust : an intertextual approach

Fukuda, Momoko 17 June 2014 (has links)
This thesis aims to clarify Proust’s aesthetics and ethics through both the character of the servant and the devotion theme, which is closely related to the former, by listing the author’s possible sources of inspiration and unravelling the “intertextual polychromy”. The first chapter attempts to measure the aesthetic importance peculiar to the servant found in language, the art of daily life or religion, which define the character, by examining the influence of Anatole France, Gustave Flaubert, John Ruskin and Joris-Karl Huysmans. Secondly, the question of devotion, incarnated by the grandmother in À la Recherche, is treated, by a comparative reading with the Goncourt brothers, Paul Hervieu, and Alphonse Daudet, who explored the mother’s unrecognized sacrifice and tragedy, then with Pierre Loti and Charles Baudelaire, who dealt with filial love or culpability. This thesis concludes with a study of the enigmatic character of the Baroness Putbus’s chambermaid, antithesis of the image of the humble servant, by examining Anna de Noailles’ influence, in order to throw light on the ambivalence of Proustian desire.

Turmel, Émilie M. 23 April 2018 (has links)

Carrier-Lafleur, Thomas 16 April 2018 (has links)

Our research of Master's degree has as purpose to compare Perto do Coração Selvagem, first published novel of Clarice Lispector, and O Tempo redescoberto, the novel that ends one of the most important literary accomplishments in the last times, the work Em busca do tempo perdido concludes, of Marcel Proust. For us to promote such comparison we based on the presence of themes that, in an associated form, exists in the two works, in the forms of the epiphany, what took us to extend the discussion for the characters' reaction before the impact of the sensitive world, the time and the memory (remembrance form). Events seemingly banal, inoffensive, apprehended by the senses (audition, palate, touch, vision, sense of smell), they assume a complexity that, only noticed by instants, it checks them the revelation character. So much the narrator-character proustiano as Joana, the protagonist of the Perto do coração Selvagem, they are rapturous for those developing moments, that a lot of times unchain remembrance processes. The time is an element of central importance for the novelists in subject; we tried to analyze it in the ambit of the characters' mind, taken by nuances affective, existential, stratified in the maze of the protagonists' memory and represented in differentiated ways. For us to deep our vision concerning the epiphany idea, we associated it to the subject of the esthetic experience, perspective that gave to us the possibility to a deepened understanding of the referred works.

Ruidos, rumores e vozes da linguagem em Freud e Proust / Noises, rumors and voices of the language in Freud and Proust

López Gallucci, Natacha Muriel, 1973- 27 February 2008 (has links)
Orientador: Jeanne Marie Gagnebin de Bons / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Filosofia e Ciencias Humanas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-10T21:34:43Z (GMT). The study is carried out in the light of the theory ofmemory and language by Sigmund Freud in one of his earliest papers On Aphasia (Zur Auffassung des Aphasien (1891)). In our study, fiction and theory appear side by side. The argument derived from the present investigation is that La prisonnière opposes Proust¿s aesthetic doctrine explicit in the last volume of Recherche thus raising a new issue regarding the knowledge of the subject. Shifting from the optical metaphor to the speculation of sonority, La prisonnière is concerned with language perception: of noises, songs, voice, and finally music, forming a language theory in fiction. Freud¿s study on aphasia provides a model for the initial apprehension of the subject-language-world relationship, in which, parting from the language flaws, the concepts of memory, representation and object are also relocated. / Doutorado / Filosofia / Doutor em Filosofia

Mémoire et oubli de Baudelaire dans l'oeuvre de Proust / Baudelaire : Remembered and Forgotten in Proust

Vernet, Matthieu 23 November 2013 (has links)
A voracious and meticulous reader of Baudelaire, Proust’s non-fiction writing pays substantial attention to the poet, in criticism which would influence the reception of Baudelaire’s work throughout the twentieth century. However, the imbrication of these two writers extends far beyond the issue of metatextuality. Rather, by highlighting the pervasive presence of Baudelaire in Proust’s oeuvre, the object of scrutiny becomes the very notion of intertextuality itself. The challenge of identifying Baudelairean references in the Recherche arises from their diffusion. Seldom explicit, Proust’s allusions to the poet’s work are subtle, if not near camouflaged by the cultural and intertextual filters. This thesis argues for a return to intertextual analysis in the broadest sense of the term, namely a study that devotes attention to the text’s historical and cultural-anthropological facets. In so doing, the thesis underlines how the act of writing involves memory as much as forgetfulness, and that the reader’s memory is as ambivalent as the author’s. But also, and more importantly, my thesis undertakes to demonstrate the ways in which Baudelaire’s poetry is transformed through the Proustian prism: that is, the narrative and mood of the Recherche, being written in a particular period, with a particular aesthetic sensibility. The social conditions of a reading, and the social determinism of a reader, are placed here in parallel. There are thus two Baudelaire in the Recherche. One is referenced explicitly in banal exchanges; the other is referenced implicitly a Baudelaire diffuse who vitalises the Recherche. And so, each Baudelaire chases the other, creating intertextual networks.

The concept of sublimation, although subject to multiple readings, allows the comprehension of the creation in art as a process of "flexibilization" in relation to compulsive originary fixations, that can be understood in Proust's work as a "search of lost time" making possible through a "re-encountered time its literary writing / Pensada como uma reflexão sobre a criação na arte, especialmente na literatura, a partir do conceito psicanalítico de sublimação, esta tese propõe-se a uma leitura da obra de Proust Em Busca do Tempo Perdido, visando a elucidação deste processo de criação.

The objective is to find and highlight the elements of melancholy in the literary language, in this case, using as analysis corpus the work The Fugitive by Marcel Proust. Productions in first person discourses, as in the case of the narrative studied in this research, emphasize the evaluation of the forms and the manners of manifestation of emotions in literature. The objective is to investigate the existence of a fictional discourse noticeably dominated by emotional elements, focusing on the statements and on the narrative sequences in order to reveal their own character in the manifestation of the melancholic narrator, in a language of melancholy, and in a melancholy aesthetics by Marcel Proust. Within the framework of the theory of literature, philosophy and anthropology, the focus is to build an necessary interface, in contemporaneity, to study this emotion in a work of literature.
