Skolbiblioteksforums verksamhet : - en fallstudie sett ur perspektivet den lärande organisationen / School Library Forum´s activity : - a case study from the viewpoint of the learning organization

Eriksson, Sofi January 2011 (has links)
10 years ago the School Library Forum´s core activity started; the development of model libraries. Since then, no comprehensive study of the School Library Forum has been made. How does the organization actually work and how do professionals perceive the changes of the organization? Against this background, the purpose of my essay is to examine the activity of the organization School Library Forum with a focus on organization and learning from the viewpoint of the learning organization. The following issues have been helpful to meet the purpose of the study:  How do the business developer, the principals and the school librarians experience the collaboration on the school-libraries model-library activity?  How does the collaboration contribute to learning within the organization according to the business developer, the principals and the school librarians?  How do the business developer, the principals and the school librarians perceive the changes in the School Library Forum´s organization, seen from the perspective of the learning organization? By conducting five interviews with stakeholders in various positions within the organization, such as business developer, principals and school librarians, a deeper insight into how respondents perceive the business from the perspective of the learning organization is obtained. When the study is qualitative and the interview respondents are of a limited number there is no claim to generalize the perceptions to all workers involved in the organization. Results obtained in this study are that the organizational changes that have occurred are perceived as positive by principals and school librarians, while the business developer´s experience is more negative.

Flerspråkighet i skolbiblioteket : Hur skolbibliotekarien ser på sin roll i arbetet med flerspråkiga elever / Multilingualism within the school library environment : How the school librarian view his/her role working with multilingual students

Rasmussen-Vaedelund, Johanna, Berglind, Kristin January 2009 (has links)
The multicultural society of today where individuals have varied cultures and languages is different to the homogeneous society of the past, and sets new demands upon the school. The school library can play an important role when it comes to the integration and the acceptance of students with a different mother tongue. Provision and access to literature in the student’s mother tongue is seen as a strong indicator of a school that promotes a multicultural environment, and it’s also linked to the student’s feelings of identity and self-confidence. Their knowledge in their mothers tongue is crucial to the acquisition of a second language, and learning in extension. The purpose of this bachelor is to examine how school librarians work with multilingual students in junior high school, and what they consider to be their roles in this context. Confirming previous research, mediation of information and promotion of reading was a central task to the school librarians we interviewed. The focus of the school librarian’s appears to be in the individual contact with the student, and they interpret their role more as a coach or an adult figure, not as a teacher. Interaction between the student and the pedagogue is important as it is a key part of the support offered, in this case by the school librarian. The supporting context is important as it creates possibilities to learn in an environment that promotes multilingualism. The work with multilingual students in the school library is affected by the attitudes permeating the school and the society surrounding it.

För nytta eller njutning? : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om fritidspedagogers syn på läsning och samarbete med bibliotek / For gain or pleasure? : A qualitative interview study about leisure-time teachers’ perception on reading and cooperation with libraries

Sylwan, Johanna January 2018 (has links)
The study aims to examine how leisure-time centers implement reading in their activities and how leisure-time teachers perceive reading in the leisure-time center. The study also explores how leisure-time centers cooperate with libraries. The method used was qualitative interviews with six leisure-time teachers from six leisure-time centers. The leisure-time teachers were all recruited to the study because of their implementation of reading in the leisure-time center. The interviews were analyzed with a theoretical framework compiled by Limberg (2003) about ways that adults perceive reading in schools and libraries. The study shows that the leisure-time teachers have different attitudes towards reading, some aligning themselves more with school reading and others more with leisure reading. This points toward the conclusion that the leisure-time center does not provide equal opportunities for all children in Sweden to read in the same way in the leisure-time center. The study additionally shows that the leisure-time teachers and librarians often only have a superficial cooperation consisting of the librarian providing books for the leisure-time center but rarely participating in reading activities. Results point towards that leisure-time teachers’ perception of reading impacts if and how the leisure-time center wishes to cooperate with the library. Leisure-time teachers with a perception of reading that coincides with the school seem to be less interested in using the librarian in activities while teachers with a more leisure oriented view have more of an interest of including the librarian.

Det integrerade folk- och skolbiblioteket ur ett dramaturgiskt perspektiv / The integrated public- and school library from a dramaturgical perspective

Bergström, Ina January 2018 (has links)

: En kvalitativ innehållsanalys på kommunala skolbiblioteksplaner / School library plans, a tool for development? : A qualitative content analysis of municipal school library plans

Svensson, Lisa January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to contribute with new knowledge about the use of school library plans. The focus is to learn about 18 Swedish municipalities’ view with regards to their school library plans. The purpose is to understand how the school library plans describes their main task, how the libraries are to be used and what type of staffing that is required. Under Swedish legislation the municipalities must have a library plan that describes the municipal libraries. According to the National library of Sweden, three quarters of the municipal library plans lack information about their school libraries. A few of the municipalities that lack information have solved this issue by creating a separate school library plan. To carry out this study a qualitative content analysis has been conducted on 18 municipal school library plans. Loertcher’s taxonomy was used to analyse the results. The coding scheme was created from the 11 levels that can be found in Loertscher’s taxonomy, additional themes that could not be found in the taxonomy were created. This was done because the themes appeared in several of the school library plans, and was thus considered important. The results show that the school library plans vary in quantity and discuss different themes. The municipal school library plans that have been used gives very different information, among other things regarding staff, education and cooperation between librarians and teachers.

Barnen, läsningen och biblioteket : En studie kring barnens egen uppfattning kring deras läsning och biblioteksbrukande. / The children, their reading and their library

Fridvall Niklasson, Ronja January 2016 (has links)

Skolbiblioteket - ett annat rum : Undersökande studie av hur gymnasieelever uppfattar sitt fysiska skolbibliotek / The School Library - a different room : A study exploring how high school students perceive their school library as a physical environment

Gröhn, Therése January 2018 (has links)
This bachelor thesis explores why students in high school visit their school library and how they perceive the physical environment of the school library as a space. An interview study, including both individual and group interviews, were conducted with students visiting the school library. The results from the interviews where then analysed, organised and presented using the Four Spaces model, a model originally constructed by Henrik Jochumsen, Casper Hvenegaard Rasmussen & Dorte Skot-Hansen (2012) that explores user needs and behaviour illustrated by different “spaces” related to public libraries and how they correspond with library purposes. Interpretations of the results were also based on a theoretical perspective based on “situated learning” as perceived by Roger Säljö (2000). The results show that the students use their school library based on two main purposes, leisure activities (hanging out with friends or alone on breaks and free periods), and for studies: both on your own and in smaller groups. The results also show how students perceive the school library as a different space, something different from the classrooms or other more “public” spaces provided within the school building such as study rooms and recess areas, with its own atmosphere/mood, and (unwritten) rules. The thesis emphasizes features in the school library appreciated and used by the students and how these issues might be relevant for further discussions about the school library as a space, both concerning design and content, as a part of the general function of the school library as a pedagogical resource.

Faktabokens roll i en digitaliserad skolvärld : Var söker elever information?

Örneryd, Liv January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study is to ascertain where pupils in primaryschool search for information when they have a specific question to answer. I also question how they explain their choice, how they perceive the results of their search process and what perceptions librarian and teachers hold regarding students' informationretrieval. I focus in particular on how the pupils’ made their choice: nonfiction books contra the Internet in order to discover whether orn ot Internet has, by and large, replaced nonfiction books for pupils. The empirical data was collected through interviews with fourpupils, their teacher and their school librarian. The material has beenanalysed and interpreted based upon Carol C. Kuhlthaus´ teachingmodel and previous research. The results of my study indicate that nonfiction books have lost theirr elevance in terms of pupils' information retrieval. Pupils’ firstchoice when searching for information is Internet. Howevernonfiction material has still an important role to play. Many slowreaders or readers who are generally uninterested in reading fiction choose to read nonfiction for pleasure. Reading nonfiction also improves reading skills and in particular reading comprehension. Moreover all pupils must learn how to read for information and to understand what they are reading before they are able to navigate the more advanced texts used on Internet. Thereby it is possible to explain a demand for well written nonfiction literature both now and in the future.

Barnfokus i skolbibliotekspolitiken : En jämförelse över hundra år via bibliotekspolitiska dokument

Jönehall, Caroline, Knast, Pontus January 2017 (has links)
In 1911, library pioneer Valfrid Palmgren was the first Swedish person to publish a political plan for school libraries. Our purpose of this study is to compare Palmgren's document to the SOU 2012:65, one of the most recent policy documents for school libraries, and investigate whether the political point started from the children and young people when scheduled school libraries and its activities. The study has examined whether Palmgren and the SOU 2012:65 has put children in focus as “beings”, viewed as thinking individuals who should be a part of the decision process in the school library policy. A content analysis has been performed on Palmgren's document and on the SOU 2012:65. This required a ponder of the various changes that have occurred in the social structure over time. Our conclusion of this study is that Palmgren's library plan is in focus in terms of both physical-, organizational- and economic conditions, because it describes how the young has been the starting point, and are in need to be included and consulted to school library activities as beings. SOU 2012: 65 expresses a great knowledge of children’s development, individuality and needs, and thus assumes a view of children as beings. Except when it comes to questions dealing with issues that affect the political municipal budget.

Räcker ett rum med böcker? : En kvalitativ studie om rektorers inställning till skolbibliotek i Göteborgs grundskolor

Gecevic, Dzana, Nyqvist Johnsson, Louisa January 2017 (has links)
Sweden established a new education act in July 2011, which stipulated that all schools must have a school library. The act, however, lacks substance and does not offer a definition of what a school library actually is. This makes the act open for interpretation by all involved parties. Differences that arise because of the act’s lack of definition causes an unequal access to school libraries among Swedish pupils, which, in turn, can affect their future. This Bachelor’s thesis aim is to increase the knowledge of how principals of municipal primary schools, in the more socioeconomic prosperous areas in Gothenburg, relate to the school library's activities and the school librariesimportance. Focus is on how the principals reason about the significance of school libraries and the considerations that form the basis for the library's funding. We gather the empirical material for this study by using qualitative semistructuredi nterviews and the theoretical framework we useis David V. Loertscher taxonomy for school leaders. By comparing our results to previous research we, once more, conclude that the law is insufficient and that the principals have different opinions about the school libraries due to the ambiguity of the law. The principals are aware of the importance of reading, but they are limited by the economic situation. The biggest obstacle is lack of money, which inturn may give the pupils in Gothenburg different conditions.
