Textil och glas : ett universum / Textiles and glass : a universe

Edling, Susanna January 2007 (has links)
This work is about presenting the weave in a new and different context, by bringing textile and glass together. The work is characterized by material and shape experiments with silver and copper weave and hand blown glass. From experiments and sketches, the work has resulted in four sculptures, symbolizing four selected stages in a lifecycle; the birth, the development, the maturity and the death. One important part of the work has been to combine different materials and techniques. Studies of literature, sketching, handweaving and integration of silver and copper weave in the glass have been important methods in the working process. Inspired by the flower, the human being and the universe, a story about the life cycle has taken shape. The paper describes the working process with choices and analyses. It describes the experiments and the making of the sculptures. /
Uppsatsnivå: C

Inspektion av Stadsinspektionen : En analys av Haparanda stads offentliga skulpturer

Rüdiger, Jytte January 2018 (has links)
This thesis focus on Haparanda's historical identity by analyzing 14 public sculptures in Haparanda. The aim is to present a representative picture of the public sculptures and to analyse its historical connection to Haparanda in realtion to a urban view of Haparanda's architecture. The first chapter adresses the question of power and identity formation. The second chapter discusses the role of sculptures in the collective view of a particular environment. In the concluding third chapter the sculptures are discussed in relation to the history of the city of Haparanda. The conclustion of my thesis suggests that the sculptures are well connected to the history of Haparanda and its close relation to the twin city of Torneå (Finland). It is a story closely connected to Finlands history.

"As if they're daring you to desire them" : En studie av de antika skulpturernas roll i filmen "Call me by your name"

Svärd, Fanny January 2018 (has links)
This Bachelor’s thesis examines the use of ancient bronze statues in the 2017 film Call me by your name by director Luca Guadagnino. Various scenes which feature ancient statues are examined individually using semiotic analysis. The scenes are examined individually, first described on a denotative level, then analyzed on a connotative level. The theoretical stand point is based on the studies of art works in film. Key theoretical concepts used are ”in between-ness” which is a state in which change in narrative is made possible through looking at art, and ”parallels”, a means of which to make art represent the characters in the film. The thesis finds the sculptures in Call me by your name to play a part in affecting the narrative of the film, mainly in regard to the love story between the two lead characters, two men named Elio and Oliver. The acts of looking, examining, and touching the statues in this film help the narrative turn in favor of the lead characters romantic relationship. The thesis argues that the nude bronze sculptures of men from ancient Greece are used in this film as signifiers of desire, timelessness and homoerotic lust.

Frihetskämpar och blodbesudlade ikoner : En kritisk diskursanalys av Linnémonumentet och Louis De Geer-statyn under 2020 års #BlackLivesMatter-rörelse i Sverige / Freedom Fighters and Bloodstained Icons : A critical discourse analysis of the Linnaeus Monument and the Louis De Geer statue during the #BlackLivesMatter movement in Sweden 2020

Hjelm, Zara Luna January 2021 (has links)
This thesis examines the discourse regarding the Linnaeus Monument in Humlegården, Stockholm, and the Louis De Geer statue at The Old Square, Norrköping. It further analyzes the significance that sculptures gained during the Black Lives Matter demonstrations in 2020, in relation to anti-racism and historical phenomena of 'damnatio memoriae'. With a theoretical framework of postcolonialism and critical race theory, this thesis aims to highlight and analyze the reasonings that were central during the debate, focusing on anti-racist and people of color's voices. Thus, critical discourse analysis and semiotics are used as methods to create an understanding of authority and to shed light on Sweden's own view of its colonial history and elevate the discussion concerning race, class, gender, and power, etcetera, in relation to public art. The thesis, hence, argues how public places in society can be decolonized with the intention of creating a home for all of us.
