Svensson, Gustav, Jerner, August January 2015 (has links)
This study highlights the stereotypical depictions of journalists in film using a narrative analysis of four major Hollywood productions, starting with All the President’s Men from 1976 through The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo from 2011. Its purpose is to highlight traits given to journalists in the movies and re-occuring themes in the portrayal of the media and the journalistic occupation. Differences and commonalities between the films are concluded in a discussion of ethics, personalities and the media’s self image. The paper can be seen as a contribution to the paradigm in which journalism in the movies is perceived at the moment. It offers a wide explanation to how the image of the journalist is conveyed to the public, an image that differs from how real life journalists go about in daily work life. This is essential, since most people never get to experience journalistic work in reality – but solely from popular culture – which distorts the perception of the media as the fourth estate.

La peau humaine en droit privé / Human skin in private law

Dailler, Tatiana 04 December 2015 (has links)
Human skin is a singular element that covers the body and allows everyone to benefit from the sense of touch. Described as a tissue of the human body, now the skin is subject to the same legal system enforced to the human body. However, if the skin is a protecting body shell, it is also akin to the person herself because it compose her appearence, contains elements of her identity and conduce to her identification. Therefore, if the skin covers the entire body, it also constitute the person. This makes of the skin a border element of the body and the person. Connected with this two dominant entities (person and body), the skin must be construed in a ternary relationship wich would place it in the center of the links between the person and her body. Indeed, the skin is not only an element of the human body because the person benefits from a right to make choices concerning it, even to modify it. But the skin cannot either only be an element of the person because it contains the body and constitutes a protection. However, if this link between the skin and the person must be hightlighted, it also has to merge with the link between the skin and the body to assure, on one hand, a coherence between the various legal principles alternately applied to the skin, according to its entity of pertaining, and, on the other hand, to guarantee an effective protection of the skin whatever is this entity of pertaining.

The contemporary status of identifications in subjects with marked changes in the body

Elizabete Regina Almeida de Siqueira 01 December 2009 (has links)
In the context of hedonistic cult of the body and the rise of subjectivism will the top of the range of values of contemporary subjects, we detected the existence of a horizontal mode of identification with those who have the same traits of enjoyment, for example, among those that mark the body. / "I am tattoo, tattoo is me" : A qualitative study about the meaning of tattoos for individuals and society.

Sjösten, Miranda, Sjögren, Josefin January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this study is to seek an understanding of the individual perceptions of tattooed persons about the significance of their tattoos, as well as of tattoos on a general level. Furthermore, we intended to investigate how tattooed people perceive the surroundings' perceptions and attitudes based on the tattoos. The study has a qualitative approach with mainly an inductive approach, which, however, also includes some deductive elements. Furthermore, the study adopts idealism and constructivism as ontological positions with a hermeneutic and interpretivist epistemology. The collection of empirical material has been done through semi-structured interviews. Results in the study show that tattoos are a significant component of an individual's creation of identity which interacts with the individual's surroundings. The result also shows that the tattoos and their symbolism are linked to the individual's relationship to the environment and its role as a social being in which societal norms and perceptions are assigned and interpreted. Finally, the results show that tattoos and tattoos as an activity can reflect the contemporary society and its distinctive features.

Lisbeth Salander Lost In Translation - An Exploration of the English Version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Paludan, Kajsa 18 December 2014 (has links)
Abstract This thesis sets out to explore the cultural differences between Sweden and the United States by examining the substantial changes made to Men Who Hate Women, including the change in the book’s title in English to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. My thesis focuses in particular on changes in the depiction of the female protagonist: Lisbeth Salander. Unfortunately we do not have access to translator Steven T. Murray’s original translation, though we know that the English publisher and rights holder Christopher MacLehose chose to enhance Larsson’s work in order to make the novel more interesting for English-speaking readers, which resulted in Murray translating under the pseudonym Reg Keeland as he did not agree to the translation made by MacLehose and Knopf. Furthermore, this thesis touches on the ethics of translation, and will likewise argue the importance of facilitating a dialog concerning misogyny and rape culture.

It should be noticed that it is not properly an investigation of violence as an occurrence, but as a straight observation of actual dynamics of social practices and social relations. The central challenge of the investigation was to identify the imaginary world of gangs with relation to violence and their cultural background. The first incursions in search of youngsters’ dynamics within the field of violence itself aimed at identifying tracks which would lead to occurrences of meaningful cultural maps within the environment of targeted areas. The major issue of the observation and construction of an object of investigation was the following: What it is considered violence by poor youngsters who have joined gangs and groupings? How do machinations of violence are articulated and especially which meaning do they take? What is the gangs’ aim when they point to violence-dominated area in the city? What cultural references give support to violence and create the gangs experiences question. The methodological path of this study followed and ethnographic script that was mounted from a previous mapping of the field and a planning for connections and meetings with several territories of the city. Those local mediations were almost always arranged by representatives of “possessions” within the organized hip-hop movement. By the end of the research a specific group (The Courtyard Grouping) was selected as ethnographic landscape. In this fashion, while the research developed, so slowly grew the investigation’s major objective. The gang is the breeding grounds for dynamics related to meetings and actions of groups; it does not have an autonomous existence. The gang is an occurrence, a typical spellbinding manifestation; it reveals itself by action, it names itself according to repetition. Many times, the gang is the other’s perception about a set of juvenile practices. It is at the time of manifestation that youngsters attract the eye of the public in order to translate their social inscription and imprint their status as members of a gang. As a conclusion, it is advanced that violence becomes a voiceless dimension within the discourse produced in the interior of the gang itself; its public manifestation ends up gaining a positive evaluation and establishing differences. It is at this time that those residents of banned areas register their existence, make public their social exclusion grouping and challenge society in search of a new vision and research of their condition.

XVIe - XXIe siècles / MAGNUM SIGNUM MEXICANUM - "Revelations" around the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe. 16th - 21st centuries

Augier de Moussac, Nathalie 15 November 2017 (has links)
The miraculous image of the Mexican Virgin of Guadalupe is much more than a religious icon : It is a national symbol and a political object which has been at the heart of constant rivalities between the civil authorities and the Church since her "apparition" in the XVIth century. Without neglecting the intimate relationship most Mexicans have developed with her, we have been focusing on this aspect, too often forgotten from most scholar studies on the matter.
