The object of the research is the theme of moral values in the novels by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, John Barth and Vladimir Nabokov. The moral values as a phenomenon are shown very variously in the mentioned works. In one book it is easy to identify moral, its values and its problems and in other it is difficult to identify the moral values. The aim of the research is to analyze the theme of moral values in the novels of Francis Scott Fitzgerald The Great Gatsby, John Barth The End of the Road and Vladimir Nabokov Lolita. The comparative aspect is used while analysing the novels. / Darbo tyrimo objektas – moralinių vertybių tema Francio Scotto Fitzgeraldo, Vladimiro Nabokovo, Johno Bartho romanuose. Moralinės vertybės romanuose gali būti autoriaus vaizduojamos ir skaitytojo suvokiamos labai įvairiai. Vienoje knygoje gali būti lengva įžvelgti moralę, jos vertybes ar problemas, o kitame kūrinyje jas identifikuoti sudėtingiau.Darbo tikslas yra išanalizuoti moralinių vertybių temą Francio Scotto Fitzgeraldo, Johno Bartho ir Vladimiro Nabokovo romanuose.

Psallendae Mariae: Marian Processional Chants of the Ambrosian Rite

This interdisciplinary study examines a collection of chants intrinsically connected to the larger body of Western Chant: the psallendae. These chants of the Ambrosian rite, the form of Christian worship proper to the archdiocese of Milan, were sung during religious processions. With over 700 psallendae assigned to the Church calendar, this study examines only those assigned to feast days of the Virgin Mary, and in doing so, reveals a rich history of devotion to her. The primary sources examined are thirteenth-century manuscripts and medieval liturgical manuals. The processional chants are subjected to a thorough literary and musical analysis. Rooted in François-Auguste Gevaert's thematic theory, and using tools of reticular and stemmatic analysis, the psallendae are grouped according to melodic profile. Each group is then reduced to a core melodic theme, which, when juxtaposed with the ancient practice of religious processions, makes a compelling argument for the psallendae as among the oldest Christian chants.

An investigation into a dramatic writing toolset for the creation of a new work of drama

In this exegesis I have attempted to formulate a primary toolset for dramatic writing that I can apply to create dramatic structure in plays, the chief example being my play Albatross (included herein). This toolset is contingent upon Aristotle's basic tenet of drama, that "tragedy is an imitation of an action" (2002: 10). This exegesis theorises that the work of modern writers on drama such as Spencer, Packard, Catron, Lamott, See, Hicks and many others, fundamentally accords with Aristotle on this point, such that the tools they espouse can collectively be considered a standard set for dramatic writing. Beyond this, my research has led me to believe that there is a primary subset of tools specific to creating dramatic structure. These tools, formulated from dramatic theory, best capture my own way of thinking about my writing practice. I divide them into two types: the first, tools of creation, comprise Theme and Values; Character and their Values; Characters and Action; Character Orchestration and Obstacles; and Event and Significant Change. The second, tools of evaluation, are Passivity; Stakes; and Premise. Together these eight tools have been responsible for creating dramatic structure in the play, Albatross.

Ao tramar sentimentos contraditórios como resignação e indignação, que uma vez contextualizados histórica e socialmente são capazes de colocar em movimento atitudes permeadas de valores, de contraposição a valores hegemônicos negadores da humanização das relações sociais, políticas, econômicas e culturais, emerge o conceito de tema-gera-dor-de-dor.A pesquisa realizada por meio de entrevistas com sete ex-estudantes do curso de EJA-Ensino Médio, e a análise dos documentos da Escola Técnica Mesquita, permitiu ao pesquisador refletir sobre a importância de uma Proposta de Educação com intencionalidades pedagógicas, com base nos pressupostos metodológicos da Educação Popular. Os objetivos centrais desta dissertação foram entender como o conceito de experiência de Thompson contribuiria para transformar a escola em espaços de guerra de posição, e como este constituiria intelectuais orgânicos, já que as “experienci-ações” vivenciadas por educandos/as nas situações-limites, realizam-se inédito-viáveis nos quais os intelectuais orgânicos se constituem, rompendo / superando ideologias ao transitarem da experiência vivida para experiência percebida. Cette thèse tente d’analyser différents phénomènes observables à partir d’un sujet apparemment délimité de manière claire dans le temps et l’espace : un spectacle touristique au sein d’un parc d’attractions à Taïwan, mettant en scène des instruments de musique dits traditionnels. Cette délimitation dans le temps et l'espace se produit à plusieurs niveaux — c’est-à-dire dans plusieurs échelles de temps et d’espace — d’un plus global (Taïwan) à un plus local (la scène) en passant par un niveau intermédiaire (le parc). Mais avant tout, ce sujet se situe dans l’espace limité d’une monographie — cette thèse — et dans son temps propre, celui des enquêtes de terrain, et de l’écriture. Dans un premier temps, nous tentons de comprendre notre condition de chercheur, de prendre en compte que ce que nous allons produire, la thèse, comme ne pouvant être totalement neutre. Le but ici est de garder à l'esprit que tout récit est producteur d'un discours et par conséquent subjectif.Ce récit producteur d’un discours nous amène, ensuite, à reconsidérer l’histoire de Taïwan. Il s’agit dans cette partie de comprendre, par le biais d’une analyse de l’historiographie à Taïwan, dans quelle histoire de Taïwan se situe le sujet de notre recherche.Dans la troisième partie, nous nous attachons à comprendre un phénomène non spécifique à Taïwan, le tourisme, afin de mieux cerner les particularités de celui pratiqué sur l’île, puis de celui pratiqué au sein du parc d’attractions, lieu du spectacle. Ce lieu « hors sol » qu’est le parc, nous tentons de l’aborder comme une hétérotopie, où temps et espaces s’affranchissent des échelles naturelles.La quatrième partie de la thèse se concentre sur le spectacle et les instruments de musique, ceux mis en scène mais aussi ceux répertoriés par les ethnomusicologues, afin de pouvoir analyser ce qui sont présents ou non sur la scène, et les raisons de ces choix pour enfin nous focaliser sur les « champs » du spectacle en présence. / This thesis attempts to analyse various phenomena observed from a topic apparently clearly delimited in time and space: an on-stage performance in a touristic theme park in Taiwan featuring musical instruments presented as traditional ones. Such delimitation in time and space, presents itself on different levels, from a more global –Taiwan- to a more local – the stage- through an intermediate one – the park, but also in the process of writing this thesis.Firstly, we will try to understand our condition as a researcher, to consider that what we produce, the thesis, as something which cannot be completely neutral. The goal here is to keep in mind that every narrative produces a discourse and, thus, is subjective.Such narrative brings us, in a second moment, to rethink Taiwan’s history. In this part, the goal is to understand, through the analysis of Taiwan’s historiography, what is the specific Taiwan’s history that take place now in Taiwan. In other words: its context not solely on a local scale, but also in a global scale.In the third part of this thesis, we endeavour on the understanding of a phenomenon not specific to Taiwan, Tourism, to better understand the specificity of such practice within the island, and finally of such practice in the amusement park: the place of our show. Because we consider this park as a "hors sol" place, we try to approach it as a heterotopia, where differents times and spaces coexist.The fourth part of the thesis focus on the on-stage performance and the musical instruments on stage, but also those listed by ethnomusicologists, in order to analyse what is present on the scene, what is not, and the reasons for these choices.These different levels of focus required for a more comprehensive understanding of the subject, lead us in the fifth part in the hermeneutics of this show — show that we understand as a discourse — where we observe the formation of a syncretic indigenous culture in Taiwan, with highlight the "fields" (in Bourdieu’s sense) of the show involved.

Förutsättningar blir till erbjudanden : belyst genom utformning och genomförande av förskolans temainriktade arbetssätt

The aim of this study was to develop knowledge on the influence of preschool working conditions, i.e. social and political factors and factors within the individual preschool, on offers afforded to children. To illustrate this in­fluence, I chose to investigate the design and implementation of preschool theme work. The study examined preschool pedagogues’ motives, organi­sation, contents and methods that underlie their teaching in the theme work and the influence of working conditions in this process. Ethnographic methods have been applied, including observations and interviews with pre­school pedagogues in four preschool settings. The study had a theoretical starting point in curriculum theory, with Bernstein’s concept of classification and framing as well as frame factor theory used as tools in analysing the material. The results show that a combination of various working conditions affects offers afforded to preschool children in theme work. The pedagogues make decisions that underlie their teaching partly in relations to social and political changes and reforms, and partly in relation to processes formed historically. The children are offered an organisation, contents and methods in the theme work that arise from pedagogues’ understanding of their mission, curriculum and the childrens’ interests and needs. / <p>Licentiatuppsatsen har författats inom forskarskolan ”Utforskande lärprocesser och literacy: Förskolebarns lärande i språk, matematik och naturvetenskap” som genomförts i samarbete mellan Stockholms universitet, Uppsala universitet, Umeå universitet och Högskolan Dalarna. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This thesis analyses the short stories from Uma Terra Só (1984) and intends to verify how the motifs related to the bordering space are manifested in this book, considering them from the perspective of making of characters, fictional space, narrative voice and, mainly, of the subject matter. The culture, the language, the literature, the frontier man, the history of both sides of the border line which passes by Rio Grande do Sul state and Uruguay are elements which attest a limit, however, they do not demarcate it in a precise and clear-cut way. On the contrary, such aspects configure this territory as a cultural continuum . This work aims at studying this conception of the physical and social space as well as its evident relation with the aesthetic project which we find in the so called puebleros short stories by Aldyr Schlee. / Esta dissertação analisa os contos de Uma Terra Só (1984) e busca verificar como os motivos relacionados ao espaço fimbrio manifestam-se no corpus em estudo, tomando-os, na obra, pela via da construção de personagens, do espaço ficcional, do narrador e, principalmente, da temática. A cultura, a língua, a literatura, o homem fronteiriço, a história dos dois lados da linha divisória que perpassa o Rio Grande do Sul e o Uruguai são elementos que atestam um limite sem, no entanto, demarcá-lo de modo nítido e firme. Pelo contrário, tais aspectos configuram esse território como um continuum cultural . Busca-se estudar essa forma de conceber o espaço físico e social e a sua evidente relação com o projeto estético que localizamos nos cognominados contos puebleros de Aldyr Garcia Schlee.

Para tanto, examinaram-se três características que compõem a vertente instrumental da temática ambiental: o domínio do homem sobre a natureza; o discurso do competente ou do especialista que se presentifica como aletheia; e, por fim, a não superação do capitalismo. Verificou-se que a relação entre o homem e a natureza não se enquadra na vertente instrumental da temática ambiental, pois, em suas entrelinhas, afirma que homem e natureza estão imbricados. Porém, ao não fazer a crítica em direção à superação do capitalismo e enfatizar que a leitura da realidade ambiental deve ser realizada, tendo como base o paradigma sistêmico, ela pode ser enquadrada na vertente pós-moderna da temática ambiental. Com relação ao discurso do sujeito competente, pode-se dizer que ele encontra respaldo na temática ambiental dos PCNs. Em várias passagens deste documento, aparece a ênfase na técnica para a solução dos problemas ambientais. Para ele, sabendo as definições e as legislações que englobam a questão ambiental, grande parte desta problemática estará resolvida. Já a não superação do capitalismo também é verificada nestes documentos. Apesar de, emalgumas passagens, realizarem a crítica ao capitalismo, não apontam e não propõem como deve ser realizada a sua superação. A crítica se perde no vazio, principalmente, quando a formação ambiental destes documentos sinaliza para uma crise de percepção (atitudes e comportamentos) e não uma crise estrutural do sistema. / The aim of this study was analyzed if there are influences of the instrumental reason in the environmental issues of the National Curriculum Standards. Therefore, it was examined three characteristics that constitute the instrumental aspects of the environmental issues: the man's dominion over nature; the discourse of the competent or of the specialist who becomes present as “aletheia”; and, finally, the overcoming of the capitalism.It was observed that the relationship between the man and the nature does not fit in the instrumental aspect of the environmental issues, because, implicitly, it affirms that the man and the nature are interwoven. However, when there is no criticism towards the overcoming of the capitalism and no emphasis that the reading of the environmental reality, based on the systemic paradigm, it fits in the postmodern aspect of the environmental issues. The discourse of the competentis supported by the environmental issues of the National Curriculum Standards. The emphasis on the techniquefor solutions tothe environmental problems appears in many parts of this document.The document reports if someone knows about the definitions and the laws that contain the environmental issues, many of this problems will be solved. The overcoming of the capitalism is also observed in this document. Although some parts of the document are criticalto capitalism, they do not propose how this overcoming should be performed. The criticism is useless, especially, when the environmental background of this document showsa crisis of perception (attitudes and behaviors) and not a structural crisis of the system.
