A Thematic Analysis of the Attitudes and Perceptions of Faculty Towards Inclusion of Interprofessional Education in Healthcare Curriculum

Singh, Jitendra, Eisenschenk, Tracy 30 July 2021 (has links) (PDF)
This qualitative study aimed to explore attitudes and perceptions of faculty towards inclusion of interprofessional education (IPE) in healthcare curriculum. Efforts were made to explore faculty members’ definition of IPE, significance of including IPE in content and curriculum and resources available to implement such initiatives in healthcare education programs. Further, challenges faced while including IPE in curriculum were also explored. Face to face semi structured interviews were conducted, and a six-step thematic analysis framework was utilized to analyze the collected data. Further, four dimension criteria was utilized to establish the rigor of the study. Eleven participants across undergraduate and graduate health profession programs participated in in-depth semi structured interviews. Findings suggest that faculty defined IPE through the framework of teamwork, the integration of clinical and non-clinical health-based disciplines, and as a means to foster experiential learning. Faculty identified organizational support, culture, the healthcare industry, administration, and accreditation as both resources and barriers to the successful implementation of IPE. Because there is paucity of research on IPE in clinical and non-clinical health disciplines, this research can provide practical tips to both academic administrators and faculty members.

: En kvalitativ intervjustudie med yrkesverksamma inom skola med syfte att undersöka machokultur / "What if dad sees that i have painted my nails?" : A qualitative interviewstudy with people working in school purposing to study macho culture

Evertsson, Agnes, Pihlkvist, Anton January 2023 (has links)
The following study aims to investigate the concept of macho culture among younger boys in schools. The paper examines the extent to which the concept can be seen as a problem and whether schools are working with the topic. The paper is presented inductively through qualitative data collection based on interview studies. Before that, two theories, hegemonic masculinity and the gender schema theory, which permeate the study's results and analysis. The interview study took place over the course of the thesis and involved eight different professional school counsellors in different municipalities. The data generated was then subjected to thematic analysis where four themes emerged: poor attitudes, difficulties with emotions, limited norms and working methods. The constructed themes are later presented in terms of results, but also as a discussion analysis to highlight the connection with selected theories and previous research. Conclusions relevant to the study include the recognition of macho culture as a problem in the schools where we conducted interviews, the problem of working methods, and the influence of norms and values from home.

Talent And Knowledge Management in Small Firms : A Case Study / Talang- och kunskapshantering i småföretag : En fallstudie

Blomqvist, Elin, Legernes, Johan January 2023 (has links)
The literature falls short in examining talent management (TM) and knowledge management (KM) in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In response to this research gap, a case study was motivated to explore how SMEs perform TM and KM activities. As this master thesis had the rare opportunity of conducting interviewees with all the employees and the CEO of a mature small firm located in Sweden, the purpose of this study became to investigate the applicability of existing TM and KM frameworks and identify additional perspectives to adapt the frameworks to the context of mature small firms. The methodology of this case study involved interviews with the CEO and employees of the mature small firm (the case company) and utilised existing TM and KM frameworks as the underlying structure for the interview questions and analysis. The empirical findings were presented in terms of themes, strengths and weaknesses, and issues with respect to TM and KM. The findings were further analysed and compared to previous research in the discussion, as well as recommended focus areas were derived to create a more holistic guidance of TM and KM for mature small firms. In conclusion, the findings of this master thesis corroborated existing literature and did not refute any previous research directly. However, as the empirical findings presented aspects of TM and KM not previously mentioned in literature, additional TM and KM perspectives for mature small firms were suggested to expand and refine the TM and KM frameworks utilised in this study. Additionally, this study has provided more exploration to TM and KM issues in SMEs, which is largely absent in previous research. This master thesis has also contributed guidance for firms (in particular mature small firms) to approach challenges with respect to TM and KM, as well as contributed to the literature with empirical research about TM and KM in SMEs. "small and medium-sized enterprises", SMEs).

"I've never been forced to do anything, I've sometimes just ignored listening to myself" : A qualitative study on the role of pornography in teenage girls' sexual experiences

Johansson, Sofia, Thunell, Klara January 2021 (has links)
Young men and women growing up in Sweden today have to face several difficult issues regarding their sexuality, yet, it is rather unexplored how they navigate through them. Pornography, the focus of this study, is widely used by both young men and women. However, few studies are examining young people’s own narratives of their encounters with pornography. The aim of this study was therefore to explore young women’s experiences of pornography, as well as how they believe pornography affects both themselves and other adolescents in terms of sexuality and sexual experiences. Seven young women between the age of 17-18 were interviewed for this study and their answers were analyzed through thematic analysis. The results showed that the participants experienced a predominately negative effect of pornography on their sexual lives. Due to the participants’ feminist moral values, their pornography consumption caused them strong feelings of shame. Further, they all felt pressured to adopt a supporting role in sex and to perform in line with a pornographic script, thus compromising their opportunity to self-pleasure, ability to consent, and claim of sexual agency. It also became evident how difficult it is to navigate through the conflicting roles within a postfeminist media culture, with regard to feminism, heterosexual gender norms, and the strong ideal of being an “agent” in sex. The results highlight the need for social change rather than individualized responsibility, in the pursuit of every person’s right to sexual integrity and sexual self-determination.

Anton, Kolak January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to analyse the parliamentary structure and tasks of Bosnia and Herzegovina to see the limitations it has on the progress to democracy. By studying the Dayton accords appendix four (the constitution) and article four (the parliamentary assembly). In the analysis two theories was used, historical institutionalism and rational choice theory to help find answers to the purpose. With the thematic analysis method to analyse the material and to find themes in the data these three themes was put together, complex parliamentary structure, discrimination against minorities and the balance of power between the various institutions and actors. The material was some scientific reports and books by a variety of different authors and the Dayton accords. The analysis shows that the parliament structure is structured in a non-democratic way, the function of the structure is to keep and preserve the peace in the region. In conclusion the Dayton accords is the main reason for the structure of parliament and that it was made for peacekeeping, not necessarily to create a democratic state. Why there has not been any reform or change in the structure is because the political elite has it easier to gain their own interest with this structure rather than a democratic structure.

Themes of activism as seen on social media : A deep dive into social media-based activism of organizations for Nicaraguan citizens out of Costa Rica from 2019-2022

Drewes, Miriam January 2023 (has links)
This thesis covers the methods and the goals of organizations located in Costa Rica working for the good of Nicaraguan citizens. Through a thematic analysis of 10 Facebook posts per 8 civil society organizations, four different themes within the posts were found: active action, cooperation, informing, and political speech. These themes as well as different extracts from the posts have together given a picture of the methods and goals of the organizations. Active action, cooperation and informing are used to see the methods of the organizations, while political speech and some cases of informing show the goals of the organizations. Through the extracts there are examples of what they do and why they do it. What has been found is that the organizations are different from each other in some respects. The organizations with a focus on Nicaraguans who are in Costa Rica have a higher count of posts using active action while those focusing on the situation in Nicaragua use more political speech. It has also been found that theories regarding the development of social movements, activism and peaceful disobedience can be used to understand the actions and the goals of the organizations.

Designing Migraine Applications : A Qualitative Interview Study on Migraine Patients' Motivation of using Mhealth Applications / Mobila migränapplikationer : en kvalitativ intervjustudie på migränpatienters motivation att använda mobila hälsoapplikationer

Brzeskot Ganning, Eliasz January 2023 (has links)
Migraine is ranked as the third most widespread disease in the world by Global burden of Disease and study 2010. To reduce pressure on health care and also help patientsunderstand their condition, mobile health applications have become increasingly popularand accessible. These applications help by providing disease information, to documentsymptoms and analyze attack patterns. However, there is both a lack of patient centeredperspective and scientific based knowledge behind the design of these applications. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore what might affect the patients’ motivationto use a mobile application to explore their condition. This by looking into how these applications can be designed so that patients’ find them helpful and easy to use. This wasdone by doing a qualitative interview study with ten patients with severe migraine andanalyzing the transcribed data through a reflexive thematic analysis. The thematic analysis resulted in three overarching themes personal motivations of exploring migraine, healthcare related motivations of exploring migraine, and technical support for motivation of exploringmigraine. Each overarching theme contained themes and sub-themes that are backed up byquotes in the data from the interviews. Also a proposal on how to visualize the threeoverarching themes in relation to each other is presented. In conclusion, designing applications that help with acceptance of condition, adaptivecontent and functionality, and deciding on a specific target patient group, are central findings of this study. Directives from health care was found to be the largest motivationaldrive in this study and could further be explored to work better with migraine applications.

A qualitative interview study with psychodynamic trained psychotherapist about their experience of psychotherapy with intimate partner violence perpetrators

Axmin, Susanna January 2023 (has links)
Hur arbetar man? Vad är hjälpsamt? Metod: En kvalitativ metod. Psykodynamiskt skolade legitimerade psykoterapeuter intervjuades. / Introduction: Men's violence against women is a major social problem and a public health problem that must be combated in several different ways. In summary, the research about individual psychotherapy with intimate partner violence perpetrators is limited and with specifically psychodynamically trained psychotherapists are still unexplored. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate how psychodynamically trained psychotherapists experience psychotherapy with intimate partner violence perpetrators. How do they work? What is helpful? Method: A qualitative method. Psychodynamically trained licensed psychotherapists were interviewed. The data was analyzed using thematic analysis. Result: Three main themes emerged with associated subthemes: 1.Prioritization of the client's own traumatization is a necessity 2. Violence is in focus during psychotherapy 3. The relationship is important in psychotherapy. Discussion: The result of the study highlights that psychotherapy with psychodynamically trained psychotherapists can also be a treatment for intimate partner violence perpetrators. Both opportunities and difficulties emerged. Psychodynamic interventions are used in psychotherapy together with an eclectic approach. The relationship in psychotherapy is used as an intervention and as a tool to contain the client. The results of the study show that psychotherapy with psychodynamically trained psychotherapists can also be a potential treatment to offer intimate partner violence perpetrators. More research is needed in the area.

Bolin, Julia, Kraft, Maria January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of the essay is to investigate how the media portrays victims of deadly violence and the perpetrators who committed these acts. A particular emphasis on fatal partner and family violence is taken into account for a narrower but more precise focus. The study is characterized by a qualitative investigation with a thematic analysis as a method. The thematization of the analysis is also gradually worked through due to the application of the theory of the ideal victim to the study. The main recurring themes found are descriptions of victims and perpetrators' gender and abuses in connection with the deadly violence they endured or inflicted. In this study it becomes clear that there are clear differences between victims and perpetrators depending on if they are male or female. Women are often described as victims even if they are the perpetrator in question, the males are described as perpetrators even if they themselves are victims. / <p>2023-04-13</p>
