It also intends to offer an alternative view of human rights, through which such rights may be understood as instruments to combat poverty. In order to do so, an approach to what may be understood as poverty is presented, and subsequently, two projects on the subject are analyzed, the first project carried out by the Unite Nations Human Rights Council and the second developed by the Theology of Liberation in Latin America. The analysis leads to the conclusion that both projects, albeit based on different foundations, recognize that poverty is a violation of human rights and that this justifies the obligations entailed on all duty bearers regarding poverty combat; these obligations include legal, institutional and structural reforms. Finally, it is pointed out that both projects analyzed offer alternatives to the conception of human rights, from the perspective of the poor, suggesting that the rights that best serve those who suffer with poverty and its combat should be made priority.

Abstract: This thesis focuses the Library Library of the Franciscan Institute of Anthropology - IFAN of the University San Francisco, located in Bragança Paulista (São Paulo - Brazil), established in 1984. [en] THE HUMAN FACE OF GOD IN THE VICTIMS: ETHIC, MYSTIC AND PROPHECY IN THEOLOGY BY JON SOBRINO / [pt] O ROSTO HUMANO DE DEUS NAS VÍTIMAS: ÉTICA, MÍSTICA E PROFECIA NA TEOLOGIA DE JON SOBRINO

ANA MÁRCIA SANTANA DE OLIVEIRA 11 May 2011 (has links)
[en] The God of Jesus Christ calls upon us to opt for the victims of this world. Our essay focuses on the hope of these victims and on the promise of rescuing them as the key of theological hermeneutic reading. We aspire to acknowledge that in Jon Sobrino’s theology there is an urgent need for the theological concern, centered in the Mystery of God’s merciful presence throughout history. With that in mind, attention given to the new victims brought up by globalization in the reality of Latin America and Caribbean must be amplified. Our aim is to register and proclaim the human face of God in the victims, focusing on ethics, mystique and in the prophecy in the light of Jon Sobrino’s theology, with the conviction that making theology from witnesses enriches and deepens the text’s theology.

[en] A POPE FROM THE END OF THE WORLD, A THEOLOGY OF THE THIRD WORLD AND A CHURCH FOR THE WHOLE WORLD / [pt] UM PAPA DO FIM DO MUNDO, UMA TEOLOGIA DO TERCEIRO MUNDO E UMA IGREJA PARA TODO O MUNDO

BEATRIZ MARIA GROSS 11 May 2021 (has links)
[en] A pope from the end of the world, a theology of the third world and a Church for the whole world proposes an analysis of the possibility for the third millennium Church as from the election of an Argentinian coming from the end of the world as pope and as of his experience as a post-conciliar priest. In this place where pope Francis came from, the lands of Latin America and the Caribbean, a singular theology also took place at the end of the twentieth century, reflecting the social, political, economic and cultural conditions of the Latin American people: the liberation theology. This dissertation presents a biography of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, a historical panorama of Argentina that received European immigrants in the early twentieth century, including the family of the future pope, and the impact of the choice of the name Francisco. It then traces the history of the development of theology in the New World culminating in the emergence of liberation theology and its main ideas. Finally, analyses the ecclesiological proposals of pope Francis presented in the Evangelii Gaudium in accordance with the main themes of the liberation theology, his defense of the poor, the exploited and the disadvantaged people as a missionary project of the Church and, mainly, his perception of the necessity to update the Church (taking up the original proposals of the Second Vatican Council, especially the ones concretised in Medellin) to a world that unveils itself as plural and critical.

A comparison of African Evangelicalism with South African Black theology and Indian Dalit theology

Nakah, Victor 06 1900 (has links)
Evangelicals have an unquestionable heritage for involvement in the world and its social problems and the Bible provides a basis for a liberative gospel. For the God of the Bible is not only a God of love and peace, but also of justice and he is therefore on the side of the poor, oppressed and suffering. he has given us a spirit of engagement with the world as salt and light and not escapism. As we give serious consideration to the challenges of liberation theologies, we need to hear the voice who calls his people in every age to go out into the lost and lonely world (as he did), in order to live and love, to witness and serve like him and for him and that is what African Evangelicalism is all about. / Systematic Theology and Theological Ethics / M. Through the eyes of justice : a comparative study of liberationist and women's readings of the Qur'an

Rahemtulla, Shadaab Haiderali January 2013 (has links)
The shari‘a, or the inherited legal tradition, has tended to dominate discussions of contemporary Islam. Relatively little attention has been given to the Qur’an, however, despite its importance both in terms of Muslim theology, in which it is understood as the actual Word of God, and of Islamic reformist thought. Far from being marginal, the Qur’an has emerged as a rich resource for theological reflection and sociopolitical action. Specifically, it has become a source of empowerment, speaking to contexts of oppression. This thesis examines the commentaries of four Muslim intellectuals who have expounded the Qur’an as a liberating text – namely, the South African Farid Esack (b. 1956), the Indian Asghar Ali Engineer (b. 1939), the American Amina Wadud (b. 1952) and the Pakistani Asma Barlas (b. 1950) – supplemented by in-depth interviews. In so doing, this study seeks (i) to fill a major gap in the literature by offering the first comprehensive survey and analysis of their readings and (ii) to challenge common portrayals of justice-based exegesis as being an obscure, fundamentalist scripturalism; as being rooted in North America; and as being focussed primarily, even exclusively, on gendered oppression. Indeed, the centring of the Qur’an in Islamic thought, I argue, is an increasingly mainstream practice – a global hermeneutic – as Muslims throughout the world seek answers in scripture to the pressing problems of the present. Furthermore, justice-based exegesis has been holistic, addressing (in addition to patriarchy) poverty and racism, communal violence and imperialism. Liberationist and women’s readings are significant, I conclude, for two reasons. Firstly, they shed new insights into the rise of ‘thematic commentary’ (tafsir mawdu‘i) in Qur’anic exegesis. Secondly, their expressly political character exposes the hegemony of Islamism over our understanding of ‘the political’ and ‘the radical’ in an Islamic context, thereby forcing us to redefine political and radical Islam.

[en] THEOLOGY OF THE CHILD: CHILDHOOD AS A WAY OF SPEAKING ABOUT GOD, CHRISTIAN LIFE AND THE VULNERABLE / [pt] TEOLOGIA DA CRIANÇA: A INFÂNCIA COMO CAMINHO DE SE FALAR SOBRE DEUS, A VIDA CRISTÃ E OS VULNERÁVEIS

BENJAMIM SATHLER LENZ CESAR 30 August 2018 (has links)
[en] Theology of the child is the research field which has as theological subject the earlier-phases human beings and which denounced the adultcentrism as an oppression structure. The core of all theological construction is established around and from the figure of a child. The research has as its main objective to analyze the relation between experiencing God and the appreciation of childhood, pointing out the existence of a close relationship between them. The experience with Mystery assumes new perspectives through the peculiar, mystic worldview of the children. Also, childhood acquires new colors through the revelation of this Mystery in Jesus Christ. The little ones are the parable which are used by Scriptures to talk about God, Christian life and the vulnerable people of this world, transcending as such the reason, the institution and the consumption as adultcentric logic and proposing the mysticism, freedom and generosity as an alternative to become like children. Adults can and should recognize in children a way to really experiencing God.
