López de Cordero, Mary Margarita 21 September 2011 (has links)
"EDUCATION FOR CITIZENSHIP AND HUMAN RIGHTS: AN ORIENTATION COURSE DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE CO-EXISTENCE" As part of our public concern for the coexistence and the formation of the youngest in the core values of democratic citizenship, we have conducted research Education for Citizenship and Human Rights: An orientation course designed to encourage co-existence. The main objective of this research was to determine the role of the content, objectives and competencies established in the curriculum of the subject Education for Citizenship and Human Rights in relation to the structure of behaviors and attitudes aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence in the classroom and beyond. In that order was made, along with documentary research, a fieldwork of applied ethnography in the classroom, from the technique of non-participant observation. The method chosen has sought to understand the observed phenomena from the perspective of particular groups and individuals observed and try to approach the understanding of the motives and beliefs behind their actions. Non-participant observation was conducted in two Secondary Schools in Barcelona in the first and second year of implementation of the subject EpC. From observations we obtain the corpus needed to make the description, analysis and interpretation of the experiences observed through the use of categories and sub-categories emerged from the same data or established by the researcher to try to answer some essential research. We have concluded that implementation of the CPE is essential if training is committed to democratic values of citizenship and responsible members of society today. Achieving this requires the effort and commitment of all personal and institutional.

Meléndez Irigoyen, María Teresa 11 January 2012 (has links)
The title of the thesis reflects the purpose of this study: Diagnose the situation of the Training for Citizenship in secondary school students in Mexico, from a Democratic and Intercultural Citizenship Model. The current socio-political context of Mexico shows a citizenship that works hard to consolidate its democracy. However social inequality, poor participation and a lack of recognition of cultural and linguistic diversity that still exists in Mexican society undermines its own democratic principles. Under this framework, the research focused on understanding what the Mexican Educational System is doing through its policies and through the school curriculum, to eliminate the situations that hinder , the democratic development of the Mexican republic, and the achievements of its secondary students. The choice of this level was to do with the fact of having students at a critical stage of their identity building process, key element in the Citizenship Education, and also for being the largest collective of the System about to begin to exercise their civil Rights. For doing the diagnose, we established a Democratic and Intercultural Citizenship theoretical Model which respond to the profile and requirements of the Mexican context. This Model was constructed based on the review of several models of Citizenship Education, including the GREDI´s (Intercultural Education Research Group) Active, Responsible, Critic and Intercultural Education Citizenship Model, from the University of Barcelona, which give us many important elements. The main dimensions of the model we built – Citizenship conception, Interculturality, Sense of ownership, Citizenship Competencies and Citizenship participation- were the parameters used to analyze the curriculum of Citizen Education in Mexico. Likewise, these dimensions were used in a questionnaire that we applied to the secondary education students. The diagnosis found that the Mexican Citizenship Education curriculum has all the aspects of our model and the empiric study holds the relations between all these. The research has three theoretical chapters. The first one it is about the Mexican Citizenship conception, the second one established the key elements that must be present in the Citizenship Education and the third one, develops the Democratic and Intercultural Citizenship Education Model. Subsequently, a chapter is devoted to the analysis of curriculum for Citizenship Education in Mexico. The fifth chapter reflects the methodology used and the sixth explain the empirically results. Finally, we present the conclusions, suggestions for improvement, and the constraints and prospects of research.

Ämnesbegrepp i samhällskunskap : En undersökning om användandet av ämnesbegrepp i två samhällskunskapsböcker för årskurs 1-3 / Subject concepts in social studies : A study on the use of subject concepts in two social studies textbooks for grade 1-3

Sundström, Caroline January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study is to investigate and compare two textbooks used in social studies teaching when it comes to the use of subject concepts. The questions to be answered are: • What subject concepts can be found in each learning material? How many different subject concepts are present and how often are they used? • What is done to explain these subject concepts for the reader? How many of the total amount of subject concepts are explained? The methods used to answer these questions where both quantitative content analysis and qualitative text analysis. The results showed that the two textbooks had some subject concepts in common and other subject concepts that separated the textbooks. Textbook 1 contained a few more subject concepts than textbook 2 but used less times than textbook 2. To explain the subject concepts the textbooks used different methods which in this study have been divided into five categories. The result also showed that both textbooks contained equal amounts of subject concepts that were not explained to the reader.

Médiations numériques et enseignement des sciences sociales dans le contexte éducatif égyptien / Digital mediations and education of Social Science in the context of Egyptian education

Hussein, Mohamed Mahmoud Ahmed 19 December 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to focuses on the Educate legal culture and civics to the first and second stages of the Egyptian secondary schools through digital mediations in teaching and integration of information and communication technology (ICT) into curriculum, with the aim of establishing how effective e-learning and integration of ICT can be supported. E-learning was perceived by education stakeholders in Egypt as an effective way to enhance teaching and learning. The researcher designed and produced legal culture program (Application) for Self-learning. The research instruments for the study were also developed; two pre/post achievement tests and legal attitudes test were used to collect data. The sample used in the study consisted of 90 students to form only one sample because there is no approach of the legal culture taught to the same phase. The findings of the post-test highlighted the following points: (A) Digital mediation plays an important role in the educational process as an instructional technology tool, and Human mediation plays an important new role where the role of teachers changed from lecturer to a facilitator, guide and mentor in the educational process. (B) there is a significant difference between the main score of students in the post-test and pre-test in favor of post-test in the achievement and legal attitudes test (D) The estimation of the effect sizes indication of the level of difference between the pre/ post-test scores of the samples revealed that, the effect size was large for all achievement and legal attitudes tests. In conclusions, the legal culture program (the application) provided considerable support for students in the first and second stages of the Egyptian secondary schools and helped them to improve their conceptual understanding in legal concepts, and learn about legal system of the State, in addition know about their Constitutional rights and duties.
