Synthèse de nouveaux composés chiraux à partir d'isosorbide et d'isomannide : applications en catalyse asymétrique / Synthesis of new chiral compounds from isosorbide and isomannide : applications in asymmetric catalysis

Ibrahim, Houssein 26 September 2011 (has links)
The Thesis deals with the synthesis of new chiral compounds derived from isosorbide and isomannide and their applications to asymmetric catalysis. The first part of this work consisted in perfecting the chemical and enantioselective hydrogenation conditions of olefins using chiral monophosphines as ligands (up to 96% ee). These phosphines were also used as organocatalysts for [3+2] cyclisation reactions showing good catalytic activity and moderate enantioselectivity. The second part turned to the synthesis of a series of chiral nitrogen compounds which were evaluated in the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of aromatic ketones giving good enantioselectivity (up to 73% ee). The complexes formed with amine ligands were also applied to the addition reaction of phenylacetylene to imines. Good catalytic activity but low enantioselectivity were observed. These nitrogen compounds were also used as organocatalysts in the Michael addition reaction of aromatic ketones to the nitrostyrene. Again, low enantiomeric excess was obtained. The last part of this work consisted in preparing new chiral thiourea compounds which were applied as organocatalysts to the Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction of different indoles with nitroolefines, and to the conjugate addition reaction of hydroxylamines to pyrazoles derivatives for the synthesis of β-amino acids. In two cases, these catalysts have proved active but not enantioselective.

: rapid acces to α-amidosulfide and its use as N-acylimines precursor in the Friedel-Crafts reaction

George, Nicolas 24 November 2011 (has links)
Quinocarcin, tetrazomin and lemonomycin constitute a subfamily belonging to the family of natural trisubstituted tetrahydroisquinolines. These are powerful cytotoxic agents and have many biological activities such antitumor and antibiotics. Their structural complexity, biological interests and their low efficiency of extraction of the natural environment make these molecules attractive targets for synthetic chemists. These three molecules are constituted of differently substituted tetrahydroisoquinoline diazabicycle merged with a [3.2.1] octane common. The purpose of this project was to develop a common strategy in this subfamily and divergent with the synthesis of diazabicyclooctane first.A first strategy involving an aziridine failed to build the bicycle. This objective was achieved through a second strategy. It is based on a first cyclization of hemiaminal followed by cyclization of nucleophilic addition of a silyl enol ether of an N-acylimmonium formed in situ from a N, S-ketal.Along with this synthetic study, we developed a multicomponent reaction sequence that allows quick general access to -amidosulfides, filling a gap in the literature. Then we studied the reactivity of these compounds as simple precursors of N-acylimines in mild acidic conditions. Three reaction conditions allowed us to reach this goal: the use of stoichiometric silver acetate, phosphoric acid as catalyst and NIS in catalytic and stoichiometric amount. This last reaction is very attractive. Indeed, this sof and neutral reagent allows the efficient removal of the thiol forming the N-acylimine and its activation to be trapped in situ by a nucleophile. The yields are very high in less than 5 minutes.

Otto, Andreas 09 May 2008 (has links)
Historic town centers (downtowns) of rural small cities in the U.S. underwent a process of economic downgrading in the later decades of the 20th century. In consequence, they lost their originally central function as being the primary retail location of a small town and its surroundings. Reasons for this development, particularly, can be found in the emergence of attractive shopping centers at the suburban edge. In spite of manifold revitalization activities, a true and overall economic recovery of downtown cannot be stated. However, there are signs of further change in downtown, mainly linked to qualitative transitions and to the specialization of its retail functions. On the basis of the current state of research this dissertation aims at a comprehensive analysis of downtown retail in rural small cities. Potential developments and changes that have only been mentioned in the literature will be characterized in detail. Three objectives and tasks are connected to this statement: First, the downtown retail shall be described in detail and types of retail businesses shall be derived. Second, impact factors shall be identified, specifically considering impacts of stakeholder activities. Third, conclusions shall be drawn with regard to the functional and structural change of downtown as a retail location. Special attention of this dissertation is connected to the emergence and possible growth of arts and crafts retail businesses selling goods with mainly decorative character. This interest originates from previous research, naming the importance of arts and crafts retail as a possible growth segment of downtown retail. The conceptual foundation of this dissertation contains a discussion on location theory as well as analyses of empiric and further theoretic studies on the development of retail and downtowns in the U.S. In a preliminary conclusion, assumptions are drawn as starting points for the empiric part of this study. The empiric research contains: first, a survey on the location of retail businesses in rural and exurban small cities throughout Ohio; second, an analysis of downtown retail in several chosen small cities in Ohio; and third, an examination of detailed case studies on the structures and development factors of two Ohio small city downtowns. Methods of data collection contain mapping, expert interviews, semi-structured surveys of retail businesses, and data analysis. From the characterization of downtown retail it can be concluded that there are: (1) high percentages of small retail formats in downtown and almost no chain stores, (2) clear indications of further decreasing “traditional” downtown trade-lines, (3) high percentages of very small “marginal businesses” with assortments of lower value, (4) high percentages of specialized retail stores but without considerable signs of further growth, and (5) concentrations of arts and crafts shops in downtown. Furthermore, nine different types of downtown retail businesses can be derived from an investigation of more than 100 stores. For this purpose, downtown businesses are rated by the range of products they offer and by their belonging to arts and crafts or other retail sectors. In addition, further dimensions lead to special types of downtown retail considering specific characteristics of retail stores such as the quality level (“low quality store”), the means of distribution (“delivery store”), questions of economic rationality (“self-realization store”) and the size of a store (“downtown anchor store”). The analysis of impact factors identifies the importance of: (1) local factors against non-local factors causing differences among downtowns, (2) competition as a barrier for downtown retail development, (3) cost factors and the minimization of costs for downtown stores, (4) the consumers’ general preferences for larger locations with a wider range of supplies, and of (5) stakeholder activities as being decisive for downtown development. The latter fact receives further attention in this research by assessing specific constellations of stakeholder activities. Among them are the effects of downtown manager action, the impact of private investors, and the commitment of local administration and politics to downtown. Conclusions on the structural and functional change of downtown as commercial location pertain to (1) the danger of marginalization of downtown’s economic role, (2) the affirmation of an advanced specialization of downtown locations, (3) the incubator or laboratory function of downtown for locally-based retail, (4) the orientation of physical structures towards historic ideals, and (5) the widely stable situation of socio-cultural functions of downtown. Finally, the types of downtown retail and impact factors that have been generated in this dissertation are subject to further assessments. They are rated with regard to potential effects on the stabilization or destabilization of downtown’s role as a commercial location.

"Najdorf": Monografie zaniklé vsi na Vitorazsku. / "Najdorf": Monography of the Defunct Village on Vitorazsko Region.

Veith, Daniel January 2013 (has links)
The present work maps a specific set of the traditional subsistence techniques by way of example of the abandoned village named Nová Ves u Klikova (1792-1953). In the 18th century occure changes in methods of forest exploitation in Central Europe in general. The increased demand for fuelwood and building wood gave rise to the "rationalization" of the forest management. Another source of energy for the developing industry was peat at that time. Nová Ves u Klikova was an example of the so called peat colonization. Small farmsteads were founded on the infertile peaty soil that was not able to ensure sufficient means of subsistence. As a consequence it was developed an important centre of production of straw baskets and chip baskets in the second half of the 19th century. The existing ethnological literature pursued the local production of baskets, whereas the topic of the cutting of peat and its further treating in relation to folk culture is still untreated. In view of that fact this text lays stress on the "cultural history of peat".

Thus, this dissertation analyzes the methodology used by SENAI expressed in methodical series and its application to binding course and books used to teach it. The survey was conducted presenting the binding context from XVth century, with the typographic workshops, after the establishment of hierarchies in the craft guilds and further research was carried out on the binding offices in Brazil and institutions that ministered. We analyzed how was this teaching in Brazil during the industry to the creation of the SENAI, through published works in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Health Issues and the Brazilian American Commission on Industrial Education. At the end of our research shows the analysis of a task, from the book "Binding Course", one of the works published by SENAI, for demonstration as applied methodical series to the craft of bookbinding and references used in its making, checking the evidence on the tradition of bookbinding craft in the context of industrial training / A presença de indícios da tradição do ofício da encadernação na metodologia de ensino industrial da década de 50 corrobora nossa hipótese de que existe uma permanência de gestos e práticas que nos mostram a continuidade dessa tradição, mesmo com sua fragmentação proposta por visão taylorista.

Formação para o trabalho manual no Brasil colônia / Training manual labor in colonial Brazil

Fonseca, Sônia Maria 11 September 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Dermeval Saviani / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Educação / Made available in DSpace on 2018-09-11T21:18:19Z (GMT). / Abstract: In the historical analysis of the social status of manual labor in the colonial period, it appears that some aspects are still in the open to be presented in this historiographical debate. They are the problem of terminology and categorization used to designate those employees, the issue of mechanization and specialization of manual work, and the interpretative references under the perspective of History of Education and Social History. We understand that the essence of the debate, which wants to be presented in this work is its fragmented nature and not systematic. At the heart of this debate are two authors exponents of the History of Education with their assumptions about the teaching of crafts, the "marginalization of teaching crafts" appointed by Celso Suckow da Fonseca, and the "degradation of manual labor" by Luiz Antonio Cunha which would have depreciated tremendously in the iberian and luso-brazilian world, the formation of any work for which the use of the hands were required. The training of manual work presented itself as a problem and challenge to be faced throughout the entire colonial history. The religious orders who settled in Brazil in the sixteenth century tried to solve the problem of labor shortage with daily learning practise. Among these orders were highlighted the Jesuits, who knew how to adapt to this social reality. The problem of regular manual training in the colony, was to eliminate, first, the long distance between the liberal arts and mechanical arts, and between fine arts and applied arts. This problem came to be faced in various historical contexts which have not been fully successful -under the: Jesuit's period with the syllabus of the priest Manoel da Nobrega (1553), Marquis of Pombal's administration with the Professional Plan and the Reform of Public Instruction (1759/1772), and the kingdom of João VI with the Plan of Artistic Teaching Joachim Lebreton (1816), which included, too, crafts, for the benefit of the industrial development, however, all such attempts remained more as pedagogical rhetoric and proposed curriculum, not fulfilling the role of rectifying the pressing problem of training for manual labor. / Doutorado / Historia, Filosofia e Educação / Doutor em Educação

"Out of Many Kindreds and Tongues": Racial Identity and Rights Activism in Vancouver, 1919-1939

Wan, LiLynn 14 April 2011 (has links)
This dissertation examines “race” politics in Vancouver during the interwar period as one origin of human rights activism. Race-based rights activism is a fundamental element of the modern human rights movement and human rights consciousness in Canada. The rhetoric of race-based rights was problematic from its inception because activists asserted equality rights based on an assumption of racial difference – a paradox that persists in human rights rhetoric today. While the late interwar period marks the origin of modern rights rhetoric, it also reveals a parallel turning point in the history of “race.” The racial categories of “Oriental” and “Indian” originated as discursive tools of colonial oppression. But during the interwar period, these categories were being redefined by activists to connote a political identity, to advocate for rights and privileges within the Canadian nation. While many scholars interpret the driving force behind the Canadian “rights revolution” as a response to the work of civil libertarians and the events of the Second World War, I argue that changing interpretations of rights were also a result of activism from within racialized communities. Interwar Vancouver was a central site for Canadian “race” politics. This type of political activism manifested in response to a range of different events, including a persistent “White Canada” movement; the Indian Arts and Crafts revival; conflict over the sale of the Kitsilano Reservation; the 1936 Golden Jubilee celebrations; sustained anti-Oriental legislation; and a police campaign to “clean up” Chinatown. At the same time, economists and intellectuals in Vancouver were beginning to recognize the importance of international relations with Pacific Rim countries to both the provincial and national economies. When “whiteness” was articulated by businessmen and politicians in City Hall, it was most often used as a means of defending local privileges. In contrast, the “Indian” and “Oriental” identities that were constructed by activists in this period were influenced by transnational notions of human rights and equality. The racial identities that were formed in this local context had an enduring influence on the national debates and strategies concerning rights that followed.

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER: VERO VANTAGGIO COMPETITIVO DELLE ORGANIZZAZIONI ORIENTATE AL FUTURO. UN'INDAGINE NELL'AMBITO DELLE INDUSTRIE CREATIVE DELL'ARTIGIANATO D'ECCELLENZA

BERNER, MARTINA 31 March 2014 (has links)
The goal of this study is to understand how organizations operating in a complex market are able to produce, leave sediment, use, share and make available their knowledge. The focus is on arts & crafts creative industries as still insufficiently investigated organizations, although the proposed theme is increasingly perceived. This study presents two significant results achieved thanks to a literature review and a qualitative field research. The first result is the identification of a unprecedented interest of academic studies for the issue of knowledge and its transfer relevant to arts & crafts creative industries. The second result focuses on the relationship between knowledge transfer and creation of artifacts of excellence. In this second part of the study, the craftsman is a critical factor in the process of knowledge transfer as holder of a knowledge which constitutes and nurtures the sole and the exclusive value of the products. In the present dissertation the knowledge of these craftsmen emerges as a key resource that must be valued and transmitted as lever of development of production systems based on quality, excellence and differentiation.

The organization of the home-produced work in pre-industrial societies in guilds or brotherhoods seemed to reassert the thesis which postulates the rigidity and immovability of societies during the Old Regime. But the few jobs done in Catalonia about the familiar strategies adopted by artisans, have pointed out that the intergenerational transmission of professions and marriage strategies in order to get married to members from the same professional area was not as usual as the historiography had shown. These strategies had been two of the ways followed by families of artisans in order to preserve an ethereal patrimony in an economical setting full of uncertainties, and they would be the responsible of the static and immovable societies. The aim of this study is to answer these two questions. In order to do so, familiar strategies of artisans from Mataró, an urban Catalan settlement during the XVIIth-XIXth centuries, have been analysed.
