AutoafirmaÃÃo das africanidades na Prainha do Canto Verde: tirando o vÃu da invisibilidade da negritude / Self-assertion of Africanities in Canto Verde: unveiling the invisibility of blackness

Maria Inez de Lima Almeida 14 February 2014 (has links)

Isis Harumi Akagi 22 September 2017 (has links)
This research analysis the roll of the Brazilian Japanese descendant from the perspective of an artist of the body, with the scenic arts of the city of São Paulo as context: a Brazilian reality of immigration and diaspora, in a practicaltheoretical bias. Our start points are the processes of contamina-tion between West and East, represented here by Brazil and Japan, respectively, and the singular experiences that result from this relation, which are represented by the conversation with six Brazilian nikkei artists. We are considering the Miscegenation (mestiçagem) (PINHEIRO, 2013; LAPLANTINE & NOUSS, 2016; GRUZINSKI, 2001) that occurs from this rendez-vous, using terms from the Japanese culture, inclusive, Ma (?) and D? (?), properly displaced from its meaning and resignified in the context that we mentioned before. The Corpomídia Theory from Greiner and Katz (2001) is important for the comprehension of the co-relation and co-evolution of body and environment which is mutual and non-stagnant. The studies of Hashiguti (2008) and Takeuchi (2016) that reflect specifi-cally the Japanese descendant body also compose the theorical refer-ences of this study.

Heine, Audrey 21 March 2015 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis analyses relations of second generation immigrants with the country of origin. Many studies analyzed the relationships of immigrants and their children with the host country. However the situation of immigrants in the country of origin has not been investigated yet in intercultural psychology. Therefore, this thesis aims to analyze the perceptions about the origin’s country and the consequences of perceived recognition. Four surveys on Moroccan and Turkish descent permit to demonstrate the perceived lack of recognition in the home country. This perceived recognition influences identity strategies, ethnic identification, religious identification and gender ideology.

Bel, Agathe 02 December 2014 (has links)
Contemporary afro-descendant theater plays in France, Brazil and in the US all share the same aesthetic stakes which are part of a common poetics: the truculence. The plays by Koffi Kwahulé, Suzan-Lori Parks and Marcio Meirelles (Bando de Teatro Olodum) make it possible to set the aesthetic and philosophical milestones of this poetics of the contemporary bodies. The crossing, the excess (aesthetic of subversion: grotesque, carnival), the salvation (philosophy of the marronnage) and the boilover (with the jazz-vibration which derives thereof), these four semes which define the truculence, give its shape to this poetics. So as to give way to human relationships and domination mechanisms while deeply questioning the violence associated with the contemporary and diasporic body. The poetics of truculence stands as a new aesthetic category of otherness, set as an anthropological operator of the diasporic consciousness at work.

Control of spinal pattern generators by descending pathways and sensory inputs in normal and spinal newborn rat.

Oueghlani, Zied 12 December 2018 (has links)
Located within the spinal cord, the locomotor central pattern generators (CPGs) organize the rhythmical activation of limb muscles according to specific gait pattern requirements. These CPGs are under the control of supraspinal centers that are involved in the motivational aspect of locomotor behavior, and their activity is constantly modulated by sensory inputs to adapt the locomotor activities to environmental changes. The aim of my doctoral work was to further understand the dynamic interactions between (1) the supraspinal centers, (2) the CPGs and (3) the sensory inputs in both healthy and spinalized newborn rats. Using the isolated brainstem / spinal cord preparation as an in vitro experimental model, we first showed that manipulating the periodicity and the relative durations of left and right descending reticulospinal commands at the brainstem level is efficient to set the locomotor speed and sustain directional changes. We next established the interaction between the descending serotonergic pathways and sensory feedback to shape the spinal locomotor outputs during the first postnatal week. Finally, by combining behavioral, neurochemical and electrophysiological techniques, we showed different but complementary effects of monoaminergic neuromodulators (serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine) in the expression of locomotor behavior after a spinal cord injury. Our work brings additional data to better understand the afferent control of locomotor spinal CPGs in healthy and spinalized newborn rats.

Ramos, Jussara Aparecida Fernandes January 2017 (has links)
Orientadora: Profa. Dra. / Inequality in Brazil is related not only to income issues, but to other social markers such as gender and race. This can be seen in some daily situations such as the high incidence of acts of violence against women and the lower remuneration of women in relation to men who work at the same positions. When this inequality also includes human race, black women are even more vulnerable. When they are educated, they have the worst salary averages compared to white women, for example. Social policies can change this framework. In the area of education, for example, can to enable the social rise of this marginalized group. In this regard, the system of quotas implemented by public higher education institutions, specifically in federal ones, is shown as a possibility to mitigate the situation of marginalization and discrimination in which black women, among other socially vulnerable groups. To understand how this policy occurs, in this work we focused the quota policy at Federal University of ABC (UFABC), which since its first entry has allocated 50% of its vacancies in the undergraduate courses for public high school students, and within this category of quotas a part for the racial quotas. After the approval of law 12.711 / 2012, UFABC also included the social quotas of minimum income. According to this scenario, the main objective of this research is to analyze the trajectory of Afro-descendant female students that got into UFABC in 2012. This research group was chosen due to a greater possibility of these students have gone through a considerable part of their academic trajectory in the undergraduate and in the direction of the conclusion of their course, which provides a greater experience of these students at university environment with their impressions and meanings. For the development of this work, a qualitative analysis of the open interviews was made with students, Afro-descendant quotas women from UFABC. After this analysis, we conclude that, among others, the quota policy indirectly favors the inclusion of black girls and makes the university environment more plural; the expectation of a social and economic rise through higher education is a consensus among the interviewees. This analysis still points out that actions directed against gender and racial discrimination need to be introduced and debated in the university environment.

La perception et la mesure des discriminations racistes et sexistes / Perception and measurement of racist and sexist discriminations

Lesné, Maud 24 November 2015 (has links)
Discrimination has finally been acknowledged as one of the mechanisms behind the inequality that pervades French society and contributes to the formation of minoritized population groups. The present doctoral thesis explores the perception, identification and reporting of racial and sexist discrimination from a methodological perspective, drawing on data from the Trajectories and Origins (TeO) survey. There is no automatic correspondence between occurrences of discrimination and their reporting. This thesis refutes the suspicion that racial discrimination is over-reported, fed by the huge volume of recorded cases, and confirms the massive under-reporting of sexist discrimination, which makes it appear a marginal phenomenon. While the TeO survey successfully circumvented the obstacles that traditionally deter respondents from reporting racial discrimination, namely doubt, resignation, a refusal of victimhood and a belief in merit, it could not overcome the mechanisms that inhibit the reporting of sexist discrimination. The latter’s largely systemic nature has led to its internalization, while women’s lack of awareness and the discrediting of feminism in France have also helped to make sexist discrimination difficult – if not impossible to measure. Moreover, the use of an intersectional approach revealed that being dominant in relation to sex, but dominated with regard to so-called race, places racialized men at a tension-charged intersection that makes discrimination against them more visible than that experienced by racialized women.

From the wattle and daub house to children of PhDs: school trajectory of generations of Japanese descendants (from the 1950s to the 1990s)

Shibata, Hiromi 23 June 2009 (has links)
This thesis was meant to investigate one of the outstanding Japanese characteristic: the effort to educate their children. The data investigated was based on the accounts of the school trajectories which were chosen by means of half-structured interviews and of groups of parents and pupils who belonged to families of Japanese origin, from different ages that went to school after the Second World War. The research was done between 2005 and 2008, in São Paulo. 49 people were interviewed: the parents and their children, the directors and the teachers. We decided to develop the research with some groups of ex-students of Japanese descendent from Colégio Bandeirantes (SP), trying to examine the relationship between family and school, as well as the success in school of the Japanese ethnic group. In essence, the thesis was based on an approach that took into consideration the historical context and how the individuals were set within such spaces, in order to understand the school trajectory of the students and the ways of domestic transmission of the cultural capital. In order to base our hypothesis we made reference to Pierre Bourdieu for the possibilities of interpretation offered by the concept of habitus, cultural capital and social capital. The analysis of the trajectories allowed us to verify a family dynamic guided to the catering of the challenges of the school system that left little opportunity to the evocation of the Japanese tradition.
