The study deals with issues related to interface design, usability and technical evaluation of web interfaces. The theorical approach starts with the questioning of the popularity growth of personal computers and the spread of the Internet with its new communication processes that have emerge notes about the form of interaction between humans and communicational systems. Also covers aspects of interface design, understanding that this is the first contact of the individual with the information presented on the site and, for that reason, issues related to the presentation of visual information are emphasized. To complete the relation between technology and the human being, it presents data about Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), usability and cognitive ergonomics, and methods for interface evaluation, as well as some definitions and classifications on the paper and digital form of the news. Thus, the study presents an ergonomic and usability analysis on the reading of eletronic journal from the comparison with the printed newspaper. As a method, it was adopted an evaluation of the user perception, from a printed questionnaire applied to a group of 41 subjects. Overall, the results indicate that on the analyzed newspaper there is a need for greater care concerning the aspects of visual representation. In this sense, the study helped with the studies in the area, as it emphasizes the need to include users in development process of web interfaces, as well as to use with more discretion the support's multidisciplinarity and make the areas of design, usability, ergonomics, technology and communication to work in congruence.

Feminist Design Methodology: Considering the Case of Maria Kipp

Lawrence, Anne 12 1900 (has links)
This thesis uses the work and career of the textile designer Maria Kipp to stage a prolegomena concerning how to write about a female designer active during the middle of the twentieth century. How can design historians incorporate new methodologies in the writing of design history? This thesis explores the current literature of feminist design history for solutions to the potential problems of the traditional biography and applies these to the work and career of Kipp. It generates questions concerning the application of methodologies, specifically looking at a biographical methodology and new methodologies proposed by feminist design historians. Feminist writers encourage scholarship on unknown designers, while also they call for a different kind of writing and methodology. The goal of this thesis is to examine how these new histories are written and in what ways they might inspire the writing of Kipp into design history.

INTEGRATED CONCURRENT ENGINEERING AND APPLICABILITY TO CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS DURING DESIGN PHASE

LOPE ALVAREZ, DIEGO January 2019 (has links)
The construction sector has been struggling with low productivity issues during the last decades, mainly due to relatively low Research & Development investments compared to other industries, old-fashioned practices, and a fragmented market structure with Clients, Designers and Contractors.    The construction sector urges a digitalization revolution in order to overcome the aforementioned old-fashioned practices, but this digital revolution should go along with adequate methodologies that allow the digitalization to achieve its full potential. The work presented in this thesis aims to improve the efficiency of the construction sector by having a look on more collaborative approaches between Clients, Designers and Contractors in Construction Projects. The collaborative approach researched in this thesis is the Integrated Concurrent Engineering methodology, which covers aspects of Project Management, Organization, Communication and Leadership, exploiting the digitalization capabilities that nowadays’ Technology offers. This thesis develops a theoretical framework for Integrated Concurrent Engineering in Construction Projects, with the aim to enhance their efficiency. The theoretical framework is based in literature research as well as experiences from project managers in the construction sector. The result of this study includes guidelines and recommendations on how to effectively implement the principles of Integrated Concurrent Engineering. The guidelines are applicable for Clients, Designers and Contractors, and can be seen as a tool for the Project Management Team to improve construction project’s efficiency, especially in the design phase.

Customer Behaviour and Marketing Channels in High-end Experiential Travel Market

Pruthi, Chetan, Tewari, Adarsh January 2020 (has links)
This report is a qualitative analysis of consumption behaviour of high net worth individuals (HNIs) and the marketing channels that are effective in the high-end travel industry. The travel industry caters to a vast audience and it becomes important to understand a specific niche to serve the customers better. For products targeted exclusively towards the HNI segment, conventional mass marketing methods may not be the best or the most efficient ways to reach out to the target market. Mass marketing may result in lower perceived exclusivity and brand image of the company, and it may result in lower efficiency in terms of marketing costs when the target market is merely a small percentage of the total population. The study utilizes articles and theories on consumption behavior as well as marketing theories aimed towards HNIs in order to understand and analyse the data gathered during interviews. The report outlines the factors that influence the customer behavior and consumption practices in the high-end travel industry and based on their behavior outlines effective marketing channels that could be used in order to reach the customers. The major factors influencing customer behavior such as family influence, their motivations to travel, influence of friends and groups as well as their expectations were analyzed based on which effective marketing channels were found such as agents or agencies, popular magazines as well as social media. This report provides a comprehensive understanding of the importance of recognizing the influential behavioral factors in the HNI community in order to develop an effective marketing strategy to help the companies reach their customers better.

An Evaluation of Media Messaging by African Fashion Designers and Marketing Message Strategies

Oyanibi, Esther Oyindamola 01 December 2022 (has links)
In recent times, African brands have been featured heavily in global landscape fashion events, with brands from Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya leading the way. Although such recognition could be traced to their expertise, the unique approach of African brands involves putting out unique designs that easily stand out in the global fashion market. However, their uniqueness goes beyond the designs they put out, as it is also strongly expressed in their media messaging and, consequentially, their marketing strategy. This study provides a content analysis of the most important characteristics of eight brands from different regions of the African continent. It examines 20 photos each from their Instagram account, analyzing a total of 160 photos. Results point out the distinct market penetration approach of the different brands from each region and how it reflects in their media brand voice as a whole.

Ett delegerat uppdrag från Skolverket : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om konstruktionen av de nationella proven i historia / A delegated assignment from the National Agency of Education : A qualitative interview study on the constructing of the national tests in history

Pepa, Kristiana January 2021 (has links)
The following study examines the construction of the national tests in history. The study has analyzed the work processes of the construction of the test at different moments, such as design, conduct and evaluation, from the perspective of the test designers and the test manager at the National Agency for Education. The purpose is to see how the test designers’ previous experiences are reflected in the work process with national test and what problems, challenges and limitations they have in their work. The study is based on qualitative interviews and has used the validity theory as an analytical framework. The results show, among other things, that the work process of the national tests begins with the group interpreting the curriculum for history. The interpretation is written down in the so-called construct which is sent to the National Agency for Education for further review. The test designers performed various evaluations of the tests throughout the whole work process. The National Agency for Education conducted a large survey after completing tests that the teachers answer. The results also show different limitations, problems, and challenges of the test design. The framework of the test limits for example the design; what the test should look like, pictures and question construction, it systematizes the test. The processes of the conduction of the test in schools is also completely controlled by the National Agency for Education and the test does not necessarily reflect the teaching that is conducted in the classroom. Another problem is that communication with the active teachers is rather one-sided. Challenges that the test designers face includes setting grade requirements and stable results.
