Ανάπτυξη εκπαιδευτικών δραστηριοτήτων για τη διδασκαλία της ομοιότητας τριγώνων με εκπαιδευτικό λογισμικό δυναμικής γεωμετρίας / Educational activities for the teaching of similar triangles with educational software of dynamic geometry

Την έννοια της ομοιότητας τη συναντάμε πολύ συχνά στην καθημερινή μας ζωή. Την χρησιμοποιούμε σε πρακτικά προβλήματα, όπως για τη μέτρηση της απόστασης απρόσιτων σημείων ή στην κατασκευή όμοιων σχημάτων (προοπτική κατασκευή), που χρησιμοποείται από τους σχεδιαστές και τους ζωγράφους για να απεικονίσουν ένα αντικείμενο του τρισδιάστατου χώρου πάνω σε μια δισδιάστατη επιφάνεια Η έννοια της ομοιότητας αποτελεί μέρος της επιστήμης των Μαθηματικών, και ιδιαίτερα της Γεωμετρίας και διδάσκεται σύμφωνα με το σχολικό αναλυτικό πρόγραμμα στο Γυμάσιο και στο Λύκειο. Η κατανόησή της επομένως έχει σημαντικό ενδιαφέρον. Οι μαθητές αντιμετωπίζουν δυσκολίες που είναι ανθεκτικές και εμφανίζονται ακόμα και σε απόφοιτους Λυκείου. Υπάρχουν πολλά προβλήματα κατανόησης της έννοιας ‘ομοιότητα’ σχημάτων και ιδιαίτερα των τριγώνων σε όλες τις βαθμίδες της εκπαίδευσης. Οι δυσκολίες αυτές οφείλονται στο ότι η έννοια της ομοιότητας είναι σύνθετη καθώς είναι στενά συνδεδεμένη με τις έννοιες της αναλογίας και του λόγου. Στην εργασία αυτή έγινε σχεδιασμός εκπαιδευτικών δραστηριοτήτων για τη διδασκαλία της ομοιότητας τριγώνων με εκπαιδευτικό λογισμικό Δυναμικής Γεωμετρίας (Sketchpad και Microworlds pro) σε μαθητές της Γ’ Γυμνασίου. Ο στόχος ήταν να δοθεί η ευκαιρία στους μαθητές να μελετήσουν και να κατανοήσουν την έννοια της ομοιότητας με έναν ενεργητικό ποιοτικό τρόπο, να εμπλακούν σε μια επιστημονική έρευνα που ενισχύει την κριτική και δημιουργική τους ικανότητα καθώς και την ανάληψη πρωτοβουλιών. Η διδασκαλία έγινε στο Γυμνάσιο Καμαρών, στα δύο τμήματα της τρίτης τάξης που είχαν τον ίδιο αριθμό μαθητών. Στο πρώτο τμήμα έγινε η διδασκαλία με τον παραδοσιακό τρόπο με τη χρήση φύλλου εργασίας, η οποία και βιντεοσκοπήθηκε. Το δεύτερο τμήμα χωρίστηκε σε τρείς ομάδες και η διδασκαλία έγινε με κατάλληλες εκπαιδευτικές δραστηριότητες που σχεδιάστηκαν αξιοποιώντας τα εκπαιδευτικά λογισμικά Sketchpad και Microworlds pro που επίσης βιντεοσκοπήθηκε. Δόθηκε στους μαθητές φύλλο εργασίας με συγκεκριμένες δραστηριότητες. Με την πρώτη δραστηριότητα εισαγωγικά, έγινε προσπάθεια με κατάλληλα παραδείγματα να δουν οι μαθητές πως χρησιμοποιούμε στην καθημερινή ζωή τη λέξη όμοιος, ομοιότητα, μοιάζω και να αναρωτηθούν αν έχει την ίδια σημασία για τα Μαθηματικά και ειδικά τη Γεωμετρία. Η δεύτερη δραστηριότητα θέτει στους μαθητές το ερώτημα ποια από τα στοιχεία των τριγώνων (που δίδονται) -οι πλευρές τους ή οι γωνίες τους-είναι αυτά που τα κάνουν να διατηρούν το σχήμα τους. Με την τρίτη δραστηριότητα που είναι σχεδιασμένη στο περιβάλλον Microworlds pro οι μαθητές μετά από μετρήσεις σε δύο εικόνες που τους δίδονται, βρίσκουν το κλάσμα που δείχνει πόσες φορές μεγαλύτερη είναι η μία εικόνα από μία άλλη. Η τέταρτη δραστηριότητα είναι σχεδιασμένη στο περιβάλλον Sketchpad. Οι μαθητές παρατηρούν τη μεταβολή της μορφής τριγώνου μετά από μεγένθυνση σε φωτοτυπικό μηχάνημα και μετά από μετρήσεις πλευρών- γωνιών και δυναμικών μετασχηματισμών των τριγώνων προσπαθούν να δώσουν έναν ορισμό για τα όμοια τρίγωνα. Οι δραστηριότητες που ακολουθούν προκάλεσαν το ενδιαφέρον των μαθητών, τους βοήθησαν να εμπεδώσουν την έννοια και να καταλάβουν πως η έννοια αυτή καλύπτει τις ανάγκες επίλυσης προβλημάτων της καθημερινής ζωής σήμερα και παλιότερα. Είναι δραστηριότητες σχεδιασμένες σε περιβάλλον Microworlds pro και αναφέρονται: στον τρόπο υπολογισμού του ύψους ενός δένδρου που ξέρουμε από τον Θαλή, ο οποίος κατά τον μύθο, για να μετρήσει το ύψος μιας πυραμίδας στην Αίγυπτο χρησιμοποίησε ως μονάδα μήκους το ύψος του σώματός του εκμεταλλευόμενος την σκιά που δημιουργείται από τις ακτίνες του ήλιου. Οι μαθητές πειραματίζονται για τις διαφορετικές θέσεις του ήλιου αλλά και μέγεθος του πασσάλου που χρησιμοποιούμε ως μονάδα μέτρησης και διαπιστώνουν ότι δεν εξαρτάται από αυτά το ύψος του δένδρου. Η επόμενη δραστηριότητα δείχνει ότι η ιστορία με τα όμοια τρίγωνα είναι πολύ παλιά. Οι μαθητές ανακαλύπτουν πώς ο αρχαιότερος Μαθηματικός Θαλής ο Μιλήσιος μπορούσε να υπολογίσει την απόσταση ενός καραβιού μέσα στη θάλασσα από την προκυμαία. Ο σχεδιασμός της δραστηριότητας δίνει τη δυνατότητα στον μαθητή να πειραματιστεί στα τυχαία βήματα που κάνει ο παρατηρητής και να κατανοήσει ότι τα τρίγωνα που σχηματίζονται θα έχουν τις γωνίες τους ίσες ανεξάρτητα απο τα βήματα που κάνει κάθε φορά και τις διαφορετικές θέσεις των πασσάλων. Ακολούθησε έρευνα αξιολόγησης του είδους της γνώσης που κατασκευάζουν οι μαθητές όταν αλληλεπιδρούν με εκπαιδευτικό λογισμικό αλλά και όταν αλληλεπιδρούν με το περιβάλλον χαρτί μολύβι. Η αξιολόγηση έγινε με ΤEST και ερωτηματολόγιο που δόθηκε στούς μαθητές και των δύο τμημάτων. Οι μαθητές στο περιβάλλον του λογισμικού εξέφρασαν τη διαισθητική τους γνώση, ήρθαν σε επαφή με τις νέες μαθηματικές έννοιες (ομοιότητα, λόγος ομοιότητας) τις συνέδεσαν με άλλες που γνώριζαν (ο λόγος ομοιότητας συνδέθηκε με την κλίμακα σε μεγένθυνση ή σμίκρυνση, ακόμα και με την κλίμακα στο χάρτη) πειραματίστηκαν και διερεύνησαν τις δραστηριότητες που τους δόθηκαν. Η συμμετοχή σε όλη τη διάρκεια του μαθήματος ήταν μεγάλη και ιδιαίτερα μαθητών που συνήθως είναι αδιάφοροι. Το ενδιαφέρον τόσο για τη μαθησιακή διαδικασία αλλά και για τα μαθηματικά ως επιστήμη αυξήθηκε. Στην παραδοσιακή διδασκαλία, οι προσεγγίσεις των μαθητών ήταν φτωχές, δεν έγινε ανάκληση και σύνδεση με άλλες βασικές έννοιες με τις οποίες είναι συνδεδεμένη η έννοια της ομοιότητας. Η έλλειψη οπτικοποίησης των δεδομένων δεν προκαλεί μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον των μαθητών. / We very often meet the concept of resemblance in our daily life. We use it in practical problems, such as for the measurement of the distance of inaccessible points or in the manufacture of similar forms (prospect manufacture) that is used by the designers and painters in order to portray an object of three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface. The concept of similarity constitutes part of the science of Mathematics and particularly of the Geometry and it is taught according to the school analytic program in the High school and in the Lyceum. Its comprehension consequently has important interest. The students face difficulties that are durable and are even presented in the graduates of Lyceum. A lot of problems of comprehending the concept of similar triangles forms exist and particularly of the triangles in all the degrees of education. These difficulties are due to the fact that the concept of similarity is complex as it is closely connected with the significances of proportion and reason. In this project a planning of educational activities for the teaching of similar triangles with educational software of Dynamic Geometry (Sketchpad and Microworlds pro) was done to students of the third grade of High school. The objective was the students to be given the opportunity to study and comprehend the concept of resemblance with an energetic qualitative way, to be involved in a scientific research that strengthens their critical and creative faculty as well as the undertaking of initiatives. The teaching took place in the High school in Kamares, in the two classes of the third grade of High School with the same number of students. The teaching in the first class was accomplished with the traditional way by using a sheet, which was also video-recorded. The second class was separated in three teams and the teaching was done with suitable educational activities that were planned by developing the Sketchpad and Microworlds pro educational software which was also video-recorded. A sheet with specific activities was given to students. As an introduction, it was made an effort with the first activity by using proper examples for the students to understand how we use the words similar, resemblance, I resemble in our daily life and to wonder if they have the same importance for Mathematics and especially in the Geometry. The second activity sets the question to the students: which of the elements of triangles (that are given) - their sides or their angles - are those that make them maintain their form. With the third activity that is planned in the Microworlds pro environment the students after measuring two pictures that were given to them, they found the fraction that shows how much bigger is a picture than the other. The fourth activity was planned in the Sketchpad environment. The students observed the change of the form of triangle after an enlargement in a photocopier and they tried to give a definition for the similar triangles after measurements of sides-angles and the dynamic transformations of them.

The Impact of Exposure to Ambient Air Pollution on Educational Outcomes

In this study, I examine if higher levels of ambient air pollution impact educational outcomes. According to the literature review, CO, O3, PM10 and PM2.5 are found to be four pollutants that could have an impact on cognitive ability, so I focus on these air pollutants. I analyze provincial test results for the province of British Columbia, and Secondary School Literacy Test results from the province of Ontario (OSSLT) with air pollution and weather data corresponding to the locations and dates in which tests took place. A longitudinal approach is used, in which test results are compared within a school over time with a fixed effects model chosen to control for school and year fixed effects. Correlations are found among the four pollutants in the two provinces, therefore, an integrated Air Quality Index (AQI) is calculated to further examine the relationship between air pollution and educational outcomes. In British Columbia, I find that there is a negative impact of ambient air pollution on student’s test results: a one standard deviation increase in AQI leads to a 0.23 percentage points decrease in student average grade. Furthermore, I find that in BC, air pollution’s impact on students with special needs experience about 3.4 times of the average impact of other students. In Ontario, I do not find significant association between OSSLT results and the AQI, and this might be because of not having enough observations in Ontario school dataset and lots of missing data in air pollution dataset. However, the association between ambient air pollution and OSSLT results is found to be negative overall, congruent with results from BC.

Ši tema yra labai aktuali. Visais laikais žmonės gyveno neatskiriamai nuo gamtos ir buvo priklausomi nuo jos. Miškai, laukai, pievos ir kiti gamtos komponentai ne tik maitindavo žmogų, bet ir suteikdavo jam gyvenomąjį plotą, o pastaraisiais metais gamta tapo žmogaus jėgų, sveikatos atgaivinimo vieta, mokymosi ir tobulėjimo priemone. Nuo senų laikų žmogus imasi iš gamtos viskuo, tačiau nevisada sugebėdavo atstatyti prarastą pusiausvyrą, todėl mūsų laikais vis dažniau kalbama apie ekologines problemas, darnųjį vystymąsi ir švietimą. Kad išvengtume šių problemų ateityje arba sumažintume jų poveikį dabar reikėtų imtis įvairių prieminių, viena iš kurių būtų – tinkamas visapusiškas nenutrūkstamas vaikų ugdymas. Tyrimo objektas – Edukacinė veikla Visagino miesto apylinkių turistinėse ir rekreacinėse vietovėse. Tyrimo tikslas - atskleisti bei įvertinti edukacinę veiklą vykdomą Visagino miesto apylinkių turistinėse ir rekreacinėse vietovėse. Tyrimas buvo atliktas dvejopas: buvo apklausta bendrojo lavinimo mokyklos mokytoją taikant pokalbio-interviu metodą su anketinės apklausos elementais. Taip pat anketos pagalba buvo apklausti bendrojo lavinimo mokyklos mokiniai. People have lived together with nature for a long time and they are depended on it. Forests, field and other nature components fed us and gave places for living. This thesis deals with preventive educational activities carried by the Czech Republic Fire brigade. The basic duty of the Fire and Rescue service is systematic public information regarding the emergency situations. The Czech Fire and Rescue Service carries out activities, which are aimed for population, support its preparation. They are using preventive educational activities for passing out targeted information. The theoretical part contains basic information and context related with the subject. There are described legislation and internal regulations of the Fire and Rescue Service, on which basis, the prevention is regulated. Subjects engaged in preventive educational activities and organizational structure of the Czech Republic Fire and Rescue Service were briefly characterized in this part. The total concept focus of the Fire and Rescue Service on the issue was also explained. The theoretical part relies on the knowledge gained from the analysis of available literature dealing with this issue. The current state of implementation of preventive educational activities and its level due to the resources of the Fire and Rescue Service was assessed in the next part of this thesis. To achieve the objective and obtain answer to research question, the qualitative research methods were carried out. The current situation of the topic and identification of the suitable changes in direction of progress of the preventive educational activities for the future was objectively described by using the SWOT analysis. From the questionnaire survey, there were reported attitudes and expert opinions of the Fire and Rescue Service regional coordinators. Followed by analyzing and comparing of the findings from the research, was obtained a comprehensive overview of the current status of the issue and the assessment of the situation individual regions on the regional level. A research question which was examined in this thesis was whether the preventive educational activities provided by the Fire and Rescue Service perform tasks in the way, that prevents of extraordinary events. The answer to the research question was statement that the preventive educational activities, provided by Fire and Rescue Service can fulfill the obligation in preventing the extraordinary events. The results showed that the issue has not been sufficiently addressed and it is not paid enough attention to the issue by the Fire and Rescue Service. The aim of this study was to formulate proposal for improving the implementation of the preventive educational activities, the Fire and Rescue Service resulting from the latest trends. Several solutions are proposed based on the data from the survey. For example, the introduction of a new specialized course for coordinators targeted on teaching and presentation skills. There are persistently increasing demands on professional knowledge and skills of the coordinators. These skills could be fulfilled in the course. The course would content the needs of the coordinators in the performance of activities related to the issue. An important factor for the further development of opportunities is primarily to ensure the sufficient system of financial support. In providing preventive educational activities is important to choose the appropriate access to the population and appropriately select the forms, methods and ways of presenting the information communicated. The research has discovered that it is necessary to focus on specific groups of population. By creating an educational tool for foreigners and disabled residents is possible to improve their skills and to avoid the lack of protection of health and lives at extraordinary event. The proposed ways suitable for use in such activities are social networks, websites and television. These modern and attractive communication methods can be used to publish targeted articles and information or to allow the appearance of member of the Fire and Rescue Service on television broadcast.

Creating Positive Experiences: Increasing Parent Participation In A Low Income Elementary School

Previous research has examined the effectiveness of placing parents on a variety of incentive programs which would increase their likeliness to participate in school related activities. That research suggested that establishing school as a reinforcing environment for parents was vital. Due to these findings, this study examined the effects of a token economy on parent involvement at a low-income elementary school. Teachers were trained in the data collection method, and parental behavior was observed on a daily, weekly and bi-weekly schedule. Measures of social validity were obtained through teacher and parent questionnaires. The data from the research study suggested that the implementation of the token economy did increase the amount of parent participation, but only on a "micro" level. Parent involvement on a larger scale such as participation in after school activities such as PTA's and other large scale school related activities were not affected.

Temos aktualumas – plintant mokymosi visą gyvenimą idėjai, užsienio muziejuose yra skiriama daug dėmesio suaugusiųjų edukacijai, kuriamos įvairiausios specializuotos edukacinės programos, užsiimama jų meninių ugdymu. Lietuvos muziejų edukacinėje veikloje trūksta tokių programų, darbo su suaugusiais žmonėmis patirties. Tyrimo problema yra ta, kad Lietuvoje nėra mokslinių duomenų apie tai, kokie suaugusiųjų meninio ugdymo ypatumai atsiskleidžia muziejų edukacinėje veikloje ir tai yra dar mažai tyrinėta edukologinė sritis. Tyrimo objektas – suaugusiųjų meninio ugdymo ypatumai dailės muziejų edukacinėje veikloje. Tyrimo tikslas – atskleisti suaugusiųjų meninio ugdymo ypatumus dailės muziejų edukacinėje veikloje. Tyrimo uždaviniai: 1) aptarti suaugusiųjų psichosocialinius raidos ypatumus; 2) apibūdinti muziejų edukacijos sampratą, veiklos formas, raidos aspektus; 3) atskleisti suaugusiųjų švietimo muziejų edukacinėje veikloje specifiką bei meninio ugdymo galimybes; 4) ištirti suaugusiųjų meninio ugdymo ypatumus vykdant edukacinę veiklą dailės muziejuje. Tyrimo metodai: atliktas mokslinės literatūros bei muziejų edukacinę veiklą sąlygojančių dokumentų sisteminė analizė, nestruktūrizuotas interviu, pusiau struktūrizuotas interviu, kokybinė duomenų analizė. Tyrimo rezultatai: 1. Suaugusiojo raidos stadijos labiau priklauso nuo socialinio žmogaus amžiaus, nes pastarasis daro didesnę įtaką žmogaus brandai, nei nuo biologinio. 2. However, Lithuanian museums lack such programmes and work experience of adult teaching. The absence of scientific data on what particularities of adult education are displayed during educational activities in Lithuanian museums posed a problem for the study and showed that little research has been conducted in this field. The research focused on the particularities of adult art education in the activities of art museums and aimed at revealing them. To that end, the paper sets: 1) to discuss psychological and sociological development characteristics of adults; 2) to describe the conception of museum education, its forms of activities and aspects of development; 3) to reveal the specifics of adult education in the museum educational activities and the possibilities for art education; and 4) to look at the particularities of adult art education while carrying out educational activities in the museum of art. Tais comportamentos, assim com a idéia de decadência moral a eles vinculada, são aspectos que marcam e definem fortemente o perfil das travestis profissionais que, em sua maioria, vivem da prestação de serviços sexuais. Por meio de práticas homossexuais desprotegidas e da prostituição, esse grupo social minoritário se expõe constantemente ao risco de infecção pelo HIV/AIDS, dentre outros. Nesse contexto, muitas ONG surgiram para defender os direitos humanos e promover atividades educativas relacionadas à prevenção das DST/AIDS, algumas das quais enfocam a problemática das travestis que se prostituem. O objetivo da presente pesquisa é conhecer quais os sentidos que as travestis profissionais do sexo atribuem às práticas educativas das quais participam em relação ao risco de contrair HIV/AIDS nas suas atividades sexuais. Nossa pesquisa foi desenvolvida numa ONG localizada na cidade de Salvador, na Bahia, entre travestis que se prostituem. Mediante uma abordagem etnográfica, combinando técnicas de observação participante e entrevistas semiestruturadas, 10 travestis foram entrevistadas, sendo 02 educadoras e 08 participantes das atividades educativas. Elegeram-se categorias teóricas e empíricas por cujo intermédio emergiram, dos discursos dos sujeitos, os sentidos que estes atribuíam às práticas educativas bem como suas percepções de risco. Os sujeitos da pesquisa consideraram as práticas educativas como adequadas aos seus repertórios interpretativos e por isso, culturalmente sensíveis. Os riscos enfrentados na prostituição foram percebidos como múltiplos, sendo a violência policial identificada como o principal deles. O risco de contrair HIV/AIDS aparece como mais um destes riscos, porém a sua priorização, na hierarqu a pessoal do sujeito, depende das necessidades que lhe são impostas pela sobrevivência e pela sua percepção do risco de morte imediata. Depreendese da pesquisa e do contato com os sujeitos que a principal contribuição da ONG pesquisada consistiu em prover às travestis um espaço-tempo de reflexão sobre as vicissitudes do seu cotidiano, permitindo-lhes construir formas compartilhadas de enfrentamento da AIDS. / Salvador

Este trabalho analisa o consumo de tabaco e álcool pelos alunos da Escola Técnica Elias Nechar, no município de Catanduva SP, e as atividades educativas desenvolvidas pela escola para enfrentar o problema. A partir de um referencial teórico, pesquisa de campo utilizando questionários e entrevista aponta que a maioria dos alunos fuma e bebe alguns precocemente, por influência da família, amigos, mídia e desejo de autoafirmação. Os resultados também sinalizam a prática do consumo de fumo por alguns membros da comunidade escolar. A escola procura orientar e conscientizar os alunos, divulgando informações sobre os malefícios do tabaco e do álcool e a legislação que proíbe seu consumo no recinto escolar, promove palestras e debates sobre o tema, procurando envolver todos em suas atividades. O estudo indica a necessidade de ações mais efetivas e continuadas, não só no componente curricular Educação em Saúde I, mas por um programa abrangente, que considere todos os aspectos – biológicos, fisiológicos, sociais, psicológicos e outros, construído coletivamente por gestores, docentes, funcionários, estudantes e familiares, revisto e avaliado constantemente, tornando todos os atores corresponsáveis e comprometidos com a própria saúde e da comunidade a que como futuros profissionais vão atender. / In Brazil and worldwidely, the consumption of psychoactive drugs has been a serious problem of public health, demanding effective public policies to minimize it, mainly among adolescents and young. This work analyzes tobacco and alcohol consumption of the students from the Elias Nechar Technical School, in the municipal district of Catanduva SP, and the educational activities developed by the school to face this issue. From a theoretical referential, field research using questionnaires and interviews, it has pointed out that most of the students smoke and drink; some does it earlier, due to the influence of the family, friends, media and a desire for self-affirmation. Also the results have pointed out the practice of the tobacco consumption of some members of the school community. The school has tried to guide and to get the students aware, providing information on the tobacco and the alcohol harms and the legislation which bans the consumption in the school setting, promotes lectures and debates on the theme, trying to involve all in their activities This study pointed out the need of more effective and continuous actions, not only in the Education in Health I curricular syllabus, but to include a program that considers all of the aspects - biological, physiologic, social, psychological and others, built collectively by managers, teachers, employees, students and families, reviewed and frequently evaluated, turning all these actors co-responsable and committed with their own health and the community in which they will be caring as further professionals. / TEDE
