A central claim in Foucault’s 1982-1983 lectures, published as The Government of Self and Others (2008), is that Plato, in wanting to escape the possibility that his philosophical discourse would be “mere logos,” ultimately conceived of philosophy’s “reality” or “veridication” in terms of its capacity to facilitate the “work of the self.” This thesis argues that Foucault’s analysis positions us to read Plato’s dialogues as philosophical “deeds” that aim to advise the reader with respect to his or her “mode of being.” I corroborate the analysis that leads to Foucault’s highly suggestive conclusion that a text like the Republic or the Laws must in some respect not be “serious” works and are, therefore, discursive “games” whose aims lie elsewhere than in the formulation of political prescriptions. In so doing I link Foucault’s characterization of Platonic philosophy as being informed by a “weakness” in logos to the claim, put forth by scholars attentive to the dialogic form, that Plato’s dialogues are written in deference to the obstacles that the written and even spoken word presents for the transmission of his philosophy. I claim that some of the key concepts of the later Foucault’s “ethical turn,” namely askēsis, the arts of life, and ethics construed as the work and formation of a relationship of self to self, are helpful when trying to discern not only the content of Platonic writings, but also the purpose behind their form. To the extent that the elaboration of theoretical knowledge in discourse inhibits the awareness that the subject must form a practical relationship with his or her own self, and to the extent that such a work is the fundamental task of philosophy to which the acquisition of theoretical knowledge plays a secondary role, the logos of philosophical discourse must be modified in order to facilitate this ergon “of the self.” I claim that, when we consider Foucault’s understanding of what philosophy ought to do we are equipped with a basic set of criteria for evaluating the aims and benefits of the dramatic and dialogic form of Plato’s writings and I show that an extant body of scholarship verifies such criteria are met. / Thesis / Master of Arts (MA)

Os sistemas de educa??o ? dist?ncia escolhidos foram o AulaNet, o E-Proinfo e o Teleduc, por serem desenvolvidos no Brasil e terem distribui??o gratuita. A avalia??o da usabilidade foi realizada atrav?s de duas t?cnicas documentadas na literatura. A primeira t?cnica de avalia??o, do tipo preditiva ou diagn?stica, foi realizada pelo autor e um concluinte do curso de Sistemas de Informa??o do Centro Federal de Educa??o Tecnol?gica do estado do Piau? (CEFET-PI), mediante a observa??o de um checklist denominado Ergolist. A segunda avalia??o, do tipo prospectivo, foi efetivada com o usu?rio sendo o pr?prio avaliador das interfaces, atrav?s de um question?rio. A amostra foi composta de 15 professores e 15 alunos do CEFET-PI. Os resultados colhidos foram analisados a partir da estat?stica descritiva e testes de chi-quadrado. Os resultados mostraram que os ambientes apresentarem problemas de adaptabilidade, pois n?o possuem flexibilidade e nem levam em considera??o a experi?ncia do usu?rio. Na an?lise inferencial, foi constatado que o tempo de uso da Internet n?o afetou significativamente sua avalia??o da usabilidade dos tr?s ambientes, assim como na maior parte das vari?veis de usabilidade n?o foram influenciadas pelo tipo de usu?rio , sexo e escolaridade . Cette étude propose un commentaire thématique des Mémorables de Xénophon prenant comme fil conducteur la conciliation ergon-logos. En relevant les manifestations nombreuses et variées de ce thème, en les regroupant thématiquement et en les analysant, on peut apprécier dans quelle mesure la conciliation ergon-logos est centrale dans la philosophie socratique de Xénophon. Le premier chapitre considère la place de la conciliation ergon-logos dans l’intention globale des Mémorables – qui est fixée sur le motif apologétique de l’utilité de Socrate –, tout en soulevant un enjeu philosophique de taille concernant les limites du logos, enjeu qui permet de renforcer d’autant plus l’intérêt et l’importance philosophique de la conciliation ergon-logos. Le second chapitre examine à quel point la conciliation ergon-logos est impliquée dans la morale socratique de Xénophon, non seulement parce que Socrate lui-même incarne de façon exemplaire les principales vertus en acte et en parole, mais aussi parce que la conception morale de Xénophon est à la fois intellectualiste et ascétique, impliquant, d’un côté, l’apprentissage et la connaissance, et de l’autre, la maîtrise de soi, l’exercice, la fréquentation d’un maître et la vertu de l’exemple. Le troisième chapitre explore le rôle de la conciliation ergon-logos à titre de condition de l’amitié, d’une part en tant qu’exigence éthique, d’autre part en tant que moyen pour se faire des amis. Enfin, le dernier chapitre montre au moyen de la notion d’imposture que les principes de la morale socratique de Xénophon s’étendent aussi au domaine technique. / This thesis offers a thematic commentary of Xenophon’s Memorabilia following the ergon-logos conciliation. Surveying, regrouping and analyzing the many and varied occurrences of this theme reveals the extent to which it is deeply rooted in Xenophon’s Socratic philosophy. The first chapter considers the role Xenophon ascribes to this theme in the general intention that governs the Memorabilia – which focuses on Socrates’ usefulness as an apologetic device –, and reveals a greater philosophical question about the limits of logos, which in reality reinforces the philosophical interest and importance of the ergon-logos conciliation. The second chapter examines just how significant the ergon-logos conciliation is in Xenophon’s Socratic morality, not only because Socrates himself is, in word and deed, the ideal incarnation of virtue, but also because Xenophon’s moral conception is both intellectualistic and ascetic, which advocates learning and knowledge, as well as self-control, exercise, mentorship, and the virtue of example. The third chapter investigates the role the ergon-logos conciliation plays as a condition to friendship, in turn as its ethical foundation and as a means to acquire friends. Finally, the fourth and last chapter uses the notion of imposture to illustrate that Xenophon’s Socratic morality also stretches to the technical field.

Por se tratar de uma atividade que apresenta riscos de seguran?a e ergon?micos, este estudo objetivou diagnosticar esse processo, com base na An?lise Ergon?mica do Trabalho - AET, a fim de formular recomenda??es que visem solucionar ou mitigar os problemas identificados. Trata-se de um estudo de caso de car?ter qualitativo. A finalidade da pesquisa, em termos metodol?gico, foi explorat?ria-descritiva. Para tanto, utilizou-se como fontes de coleta de dados, a pesquisa bibliogr?fica, an?lise documental, entrevistas semiestruturadas aplicadas ? 21 dos 32 vigilantes, e a observa??o participante, todos ancorados na metodologia da AET. Foram ainda coletados dados sobre a popula??o investigada e dados relativos ao trabalho executado por esses servidores. Para a an?lise dos dados foi utilizado o software editor de planilhas Microsoft Office Excel. Essa pesquisa ratificou a valida??o de conceitos apresentados por v?rios autores que auxiliaram na compreens?o do tema e na elabora??o do diagn?stico. Quanto aos resultados obtidos deste estudo, identificou-se a exist?ncia de problemas relacionados ao distanciamento entre o trabalho prescrito e o trabalho real, ?s condi??es de trabalho, fatores esses que resultaram na apresenta??o de recomenda??es que visam contribuir para a redu??o dos riscos de seguran?a e ergon?micos existentes, bem como para a melhoria das condi??es de trabalho e qualidade do objeto investigado. / The ostensive mobile round service, developed at the Central Campus of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, run by bankrupt vigilantes, has been presented as the main activity of prevention and coping with acts of violence against people and public assets in this academic environment. Because this is an activity that presents safety and ergonomic risks, this study aimed to diagnose this process, based on the Work Ergonomic Analysis - AET, in order to formulate recommendations that aim to solve or mitigate the problems identified. This is a qualitative case study. The purpose of the research, in methodological terms, was exploratory-descriptive. For this purpose, bibliographical research, documentary analysis, semi-structured interviews applied to 21 of the 32 guards, and participant observation, all anchored in the AET methodology, were used as sources of data collection. We also collected data on the population investigated and data related to the work performed by these servers. For data analysis, the Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheet editor software was used. This research ratified the validation of concepts presented by several authors that helped in understanding the theme and in the elaboration of the diagnosis. Regarding the results obtained from this study, we identified the existence of problems related to the distance between prescribed work and actual work, working conditions, which resulted in the presentation of recommendations aimed at contributing to the reduction of safety risks and ergonomics, as well as for the improvement of working conditions and quality of the object under investigation.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar os processos de trabalho na Unidade Produtora de Refei??es de um Hospital Universit?rio, identificar os fatores de risco para sa?de do trabalhador utilizando para isto o conhecimento da Ergonomia, especificamente o m?todo de An?lise Ergon?mica do Trabalho (AET) ap?s esta an?lise foi poss?vel elaborar propostas que venham a trazer poss?veis melhorias nas condi??es de trabalho, reduzindo os fatores de riscos ? sa?de e as possibilidades de falhas durante o processo de produ??o de refei??es. Importante ressaltar que o m?todo AET considera a atividade de trabalho desenvolvida em tempo real e destaca a import?ncia de ouvir e envolver os pr?prios trabalhadores no processo de mudan?a. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa. Na pesquisa de campo foram coletados dados demogr?ficos dos participantes (idade, escolaridade, setor de lota??o, tempo de servi?o total e tempo de servi?o no setor) e dados relacionados ao trabalho desenvolvido por eles (An?lise de tarefas, An?lise da atividade e An?lise do ambiente de trabalho) na UPR. Os instrumentos utilizados foram observa??es globais e sistem?ticas e entrevistas semiestruturadas, buscando identificar as principais queixas relativas ?s atividades por eles desenvolvidas. Os resultados desta an?lise indicaram que a unidade analisada apresenta diversos problemas de ambi?ncia dos postos de trabalho como tamb?m na organiza??o do trabalho. Inconformidades que resultam em um ambiente favor?vel ao adoecimento e riscos de acidentes. / The Food and Nutrition Units (FNU) are designed to produce food for healthy and/or sick communities and need to be done in a way to ensure the quality of foodstuffs that were produced. In these units, in the working environment, in general, there is excessive noise, heat and physical condition with many adaptations, presence of obstacles, inadequate flows, as well as the ways of the working organization may represent risks for workers health and lead to errors during production and/or distribution of food. The main goal of this study was to analyse the working processes in the Food Production Unit of the university?s hospital and identify the workers' health risk factors, using for this the knowledge of ergonomics, specifically the method of Ergonomic Work Analysis (EWA). After this analysis it was possible to develop proposals that will bring improvements to the working conditions, minimizing health risk factors during the process of meals production. It?s crucial to reassert this method considers the work activity performed in real time and highlights the importance of listening and the engagement of the workers in the changing process. It is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. In the field research were collected demographics data, employment characteristics of the individuals (age, education, stocking sector, the total length of service and length of service in the industry) and data related to their usual work (task analysis, activity analysis and Analysis of the working environment) in the FNU. The instruments that were used in this study were document analysis, global and systematic observations and semi structured interviews in order to identify the main complaints related to those activities developed by them. The study was based on data for the analysis of Bardin, 2011, so the documents have been selected and including those that treat issues related to risks to workers' health were selected. The result of semi-structured interviews, global and systematic observations took place a confrontation of this material to the theoretical framework, held the inference and the interpretation of results the light of the knowledge of ergonomics and legislation. Issues related to the risks and the perception of workers has crafted a table showing the frequency of responses to the physical, chemical and biological and even the risk of accidents and was made a descriptive analysis. The results of this analysis indicated that the unit in question presents several problems ambience of jobs, both in terms of physical structure, but also in the organization of work. Non-conformities that leads to a favourable environment to the development of disease and injury hazards and compromising the quality of food produced. It is necessary to comply with legislation and that short, medium and long-term measures are taken to ensure the physical integrity of workers and improve the working environment.

The study was based on ergonomic criteria proposed by Bastien and Scapin (1993) and the Federal Government s Handbook of Usability (2010). The methodology used was a descriptive data survey involving an online questionnaire, and a sample of 46 system users, composed of coordinators and secretaries from the sensu stricto postgraduate programs. In addition to this procedure, open interviews were held with the users as well as a documental analysis of calls registered by them at the SIGAA between May 2012 and June 2013. Data analysis showed that a number of additional usability criteria need to be implemented, primarily related to ergonomic problems of orientation, error management and workload. Based on the analyses, several changes were proposed that may streamline secretarial activities, as well as provide greater satisfaction and interaction between the SIGAA and its users / O objetivo deste trabalho ? avaliar a usabilidade do sistema automatizado de controle das atividades acad?micas (SIGAA) voltados para a P?s-gradua??o Stricto Sensu da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. O estudo teve como base os crit?rios ergon?micos de Bastien e Scapin (1993) e a Cartilha de Usabilidade do Governo Federal (2010). A metodologia ? do tipo descritiva, de levantamento de dados, atrav?s da aplica??o de um question?rio online, junto a uma amostra de 46 usu?rios desse sistema, compreendendo os coordenadores e secret?rios das p?s-gradua??es Stricto Sensu. Al?m desse procedimento, foram realizadas entrevistas abertas com usu?rios e foi feita uma an?lise documental de chamados registrados no SIGAA pelos usu?rios, compreendendo o per?odo de maio de 2012 a junho de 2013. The package and the labels support the companies to communicate with the customers in addition to give protection, storage and convenience in proportion to the products that move in the price list. The labels mainly add up a value which helps the companies differ their products and increase the value of the brands among the final customers. However, the information given in the label are not clear sometimes. It displays a verbal-visual defective language resulted from a poor visibility, legibleness and comprehensibleness of the verbal and visual marks. The aim of this research is to verify, according to the costumers‟ view, the level of the clarity in the informative texts, harmony and ergonomic conformity of the package labels in the chocolate powder of the Claralate brand, considering the linguistic aspects presented on the labels. The criteria to evaluate the chocolate package selected were based on the linguistic field: the organization and the structure of the text derided from the classification of the textual genre; the clarity and the comprehension of the language utilized on those labels. From the ergonomic view, the informative and ergonomic conformity, based on the following requirements: legibility, symbols, characters, reading fields and intermission of the written lines. Therefore, the research done july 2007 and added july 2011 had a structured questionnaire in the interview put to the 118 customers of the chocolate package that go shopping in one of the two supermarkets in Floriano, Piau? S?o Jorge and/or Super Quaresma. The main results of the investigation show that the linguistic aspects in the informative texts of the labels provide the customers‟ expectancy partially, while the consideration of the informative ergonomic analyzed can contribute to the improvement of the information and consequent visual progress of those, on the labels of chocolate package investigated. As recommendation towards the maker of the product, the outcome of the research indicates: harmonize the proportion of the letters and numbers; enlarge the letters size; make the visual information more comprehensive determined by the reading field; put the expiry date in a better visual place / Vivemos num mundo de produtos embalados. A embalagem e os r?tulos ajudam as empresas a se comunicarem com os consumidores e a fornecerem prote??o, armazenagem e conveni?ncia, ? medida que os produtos se movimentam na cadeia de valor. Especialmente os r?tulos adicionam um valor que auxilia as empresas a diferenciar seus produtos e a aumentar o valor da marca entre os consumidores finais. Por?m, muitas vezes, as informa??es contidas nos r?tulos das embalagens n?o s?o claras, apresentando uma linguagem verbo-visual deficiente resultante da m? visibilidade, legibilidade e compreensibilidade de signos verbais e visuais. O objetivo dessa pesquisa ? verificar, na vis?o dos consumidores, o n?vel de clareza dos textos informativos, harmonia e conformidade ergon?mica do r?tulo de embalagem do achocolatado em p? Claralate , considerando os aspectos lingu?sticos e ergon?micos presentes no r?tulo do produto. Os crit?rios para avalia??o da embalagem do achocolatado selecionado foram do ponto de vista lingu?stico: a organiza??o e estrutura??o dos textos a partir da classifica??o do g?nero textual; a clareza e compreens?o da linguagem utilizada no r?tulo. Do ponto de vista da ergonomia, a conformidade ergon?mica informacional, com base nos requisitos: legibilidade, s?mbolos, caracteres, campo de leitura e espa?amento de linhas. Para tanto, a pesquisa de campo realizada em julho de 2007 e, ampliada em julho de 2011, utilizou um question?rio estruturado na entrevista a 118 consumidores de achocolatados que realizam suas compras em um dos dois supermercados de Floriano-Pi. S?o Jorge e/ou Super Quaresma. Os principais resultados da investiga??o mostram que os aspectos lingu?sticos presentes nos textos informativos do r?tulo atendem parcialmente ?s expectativas dos consumidores, enquanto a considera??o dos requisitos ergon?micos informacionais analisados podem vir a contribuir para o aperfei?oamento das informa??es e consequente melhoria visual destas, no r?tulo de embalagem do achocolatado investigado. A an?lise dos dados na primeira etapa, atrav?s da an?lise diacr?nica do ambiente, apresentou um avan?o significativo no aspecto visual, organiza??o dos conte?dos e uso de novas tecnologias em rela??o ?s vers?es anteriores, em contrapartida a inspe??o via checklist apresentou um percentual de aproximadamente 33% de n?o conformidade com os crit?rios ergon?micos no Ergolist, apresentando a flexibilidade, controle do usu?rio, feedback e a??es m?nimas como um dos maiores problemas da interface. Os resultados da segunda etapa mostraram uma conson?ncia com a maioria dos pontos da etapa anterior, adicionando um toque pessoal do usu?rio em rela??o ? satisfa??o e aspectos relevantes ? usabilidade do ambiente. / This papers objective is to evaluate the usability and the information architecture of the Moodle Mandacaru interface, now being utilized in the Center for Studies in Public Health in the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Specifically in the Specialization Course in Labor Management and Health Education (CGTES), and to propose improvements for future versions. The study was based on the concepts of usability evaluations using predictive techniques, using ergonomic criteria for inspection via checklist LabUtil, and prospective, using the cooperative evaluation and satisfaction questionnaire. The research methodology is descriptive and its mixed approach, in which are utilized quantitative analysis, collected in satisfaction questionnaires and interpretative analysis, collected in interviews on site with 5 students of the course. To help in the organization and direction of the research it was used a framework called DECIDE, where a specific sequence of orientation, execution and analysis in the evaluation process was drawn .Data collection was organized in three stages: (1) the preparatory phase, the organization of actions that will guide the subsequent steps; (2) the first stage, with the realization of a diachronic analysis of the object under study and ergonomic inspection; (3) the second stage, with the implementation of cooperative evaluation coupled with the satisfaction questionnaire. Data analysis in the first stage, through environmental diachronic analysis showed a significant improvement in visual appearance, content organization and use of new technologies in previous versions, however the inspection via checklist presented a percentage of approximately 33% non-compliance with the ergonomic criteria in Ergolist, presenting flexibility, user control, feedback and minimal actions as one of the interface problems. The results of the second step showed a consistent with most points of the previous stage, adding a personal touch user satisfaction with regard to usability and aspects relevant to the environment.
