Tafonomia de grupos fósseis do membro crato (Formação Santana, Bacia do Araripe, Eocretáceo, NE do Brasil): implicações geobiológicas, paleoecológicas e paleoambientais / Taphonomy of fossil groups from the crato member (Santana Formation), Araripe Basin, Early Cretaceous, North-east Brasil): geobiological, palaeoecological, and palaeoenvironmental implications

Osés, Gabriel Ladeira 27 October 2016 (has links)
Over the past decades, the so-called Fossil Lagerstätten have been in the core of discussions concerning the palaeobiological and geological history of the Earth. In particular, the Crato Member from the Santana Formation (Araripe Basin, north-east Brazil) is one of the most significant Cretaceous Lagerstätten since it records exceptionally well-preserved fossil invertebrates, vertebrates, and plants, deposited in palaeolake carbonate beds. The main aim of this dissertation is to shed light on the preservational processes responsible for the fossilization of insects and fishes still retaining 3D soft tissues. Petrographic thin sections and several palaeometric techniques - micro-Raman Spectroscopy, conventional X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), Synchrotron micro-XRF (SR-µXRF), Particle-Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) - have been employed to characterize the host rock, soft-tissue morphology and preservational fidelity, and fossil elemental and molecular compositions in centimetre to micrometre scale. The results reveal that while insects and fish soft-tissues found in the so called beige limestones (BL) are replaced by framboidal pyrite pseudomorphs (after pyrite oxidation) occurring together with putative bacterially-secreted extracellular polymeric substances (EPS), labile tissues of fishes from the grey limestones (GL) are kerogenized. In insects, there is a variation of framboid size inward the fossils, which is here interpreted as a product of the balance between diffusion and mineral nucleation rates. Moreover, the preferential distribution of Zn and Cu in pyritized insect/fish labile structures in comparison to their rock matrix is here considered as being the result of element fixation in bacterial biofilms. Zn concentrated in bones of kerogenized fishes and Fe/Cu occurring in their soft tissues are considered to have been incorporated during fish life. In the particular case of fishes, a model originally proposed for metazoan preservation in the Precambrian is here applied to explain the variation of fossilization between the BL and GL facies. Petrographic thin sections reveal that GL have generally higher clay/organic matter contents than BL, thus implying that burial rates might have been more intense in the former. This could have placed decaying carcasses more quickly in the methanogenesis sedimentary zone, in that way being kerogenized. On the other hand, carcasses deposited in the BL facies could have spent a longer period in the sulphate-reduction zone, which would have accounted for pervasive pyritization. Additionally, microspar low porosity, cement and clay could have diminished both downward migrations of electron acceptors for anaerobic bacterial respiration processes - particularly sulphate-reduction (SR) and methanogenesis - and of their biogeochemical products, narrowing the SR zone, which would have lowered the impact of pyritization in some levels. While pyritization has recorded 3D muscle fibres, sarcolemma, putative cell nuclei, tendons and eyes, kerogenization has yielded connective tissues, integument and compressed/distorted muscle fibres. In conclusion, it is here proposed that palaeoenvironmental/geobiological-influenced facies have yielded fossils with a variable preservational-fidelity gradient, accordingly to each taphonomic pathway followed.

The deductive method was used, and by reason of incipient discussion about the topic in Brazil, the foreign doctrine and jurisprudence has been studied with use of the comparative method. By reason of multiple laws of several derivations, this study extended to other areas of legal sciences as Constitutional, Civil and Labor law, aiming to show the connection between freedom of expression, Democratic State, as a finalistic political formula, and human dignity. Adopting this interdisciplinary perspective, it can be shown how natural persons and business' entities are bound to constitutional laws that define rights and guarantees, and can yield the assertion of the labor rights claims that are nonspecific in the company scope. Since the worker, in his special situation of subordination, has several duties that impose restrictions on his freedom of expression, the obligations of fidelity and loyalty were also studied. By reason of absence of primacy among rights to honor and image, and right of freedom of expression. It was deduced that the need for implementing the method of weighing between the principles of the factual case and preserving the essential core principle that does not prevail, even in social networks. Therefore, the reasonable exercise of the right of criticism in social networks without abuse and without the use of excessive and insulting terms is, in principle, given the importance of freedom of expression in a democratic state. This right however, does not protect either crimes of libel, defamation and slander, or the criticisms aiming to disseminate strategic information, by instances from the organization structure, methods of production or sensitive data of the company / O presente estudo busca investigar a liberdade de expressão do empregado nas redes sociais, mormente o direito de crítica e sua repercussão no contrato de trabalho, especialmente quanto à imagem do empregador, pois não existe no ordenamento jurídico pátrio qualquer normativo que verse sobre essa complexa discussão.

Population demographics of New Zealand fur seals (Arctocephalus forsteri)

McKenzie, Jane, janemckenzie@malpage.com January 2006 (has links)
Assessment of trophic interactions between increasing populations of New Zealand fur seals (Arctocephalus forsteri) and fisheries in southern Australia is limited due to a lack of species specific demographic data and an understanding of the factors influencing population growth. To establish species specific demographic parameters a cross-sectional sample of New Zealand fur seal females (330) and males (100) were caught and individually-marked on Kangaroo Island, South Australia between 2000 and 2003. The seals were aged through examination of a postcanine tooth, which was removed from each animal to investigate age-specific life-history parameters. Annual formation of cementum layers was confirmed and accuracy in age estimation was determined by examination of teeth removed from individuals of known-age. Indirect methods of assessing reproductive maturity based on mammary teat characteristics indicated that females first gave birth between 4-8 years of age, with an average age at reproductive maturity of 5 years. Among reproductively mature females, age-specific reproductive rates increased rapidly between 4-7 years of age, reaching maximum rates of 70-81% between 8-13 years, and gradually decreased in older females. No females older than 22 years were recorded to pup. Age of first territory tenure in males ranged from 8-10 years. The oldest female and male were 25 and 19 years old, respectively. Post-weaning growth in females was monophasic, characterised by high growth rates in length and mass during the juvenile growth stage, followed by a gradual decline in growth rates after reproductive maturity. In contrast, growth in males was biphasic and displayed a secondary growth spurt in both length and mass, which coincided with sexual and social maturation, followed by a rapid decline in growth rates. Age-specific survival rates were high (0.823-0.953) among prime-age females (8-13 yrs of age) and declined in older females. Relative change in annual pup production was strongly correlated with reproductive rates of prime-age females and adult female survival between breeding seasons.

Sanou, Aboubakary 08 1900 (has links)
Immunization is one of the most important subjects in public health despite constant on-going controversies. In the context of this research it is more its accessibility that is at issue. This particular research is situated in the perspective of the comprehensive approaches to evaluation and analyses an immunization improvement strategy using a three steps process evaluation after documenting its context. The perceptions and factors influencing immunization coverage before the intervention are assessed, as well as the conceptual and theoretical foundations of the intervention, the implementation and reception of the intervention and mechanisms used to attain the results. The results indicate that immunization is integrated into the local strategies used for protection and grounded in the local concept of risk. Results show also that the context associated with socioeconomic factors and the relations between parents and health services contribute to explain the relatively low complete immunization coverage rate (50.3%) before the intervention. The exploratory analysis indicates that the intervention had an implicit theory and a philosophy. Although the intervention was adequate for an evaluation, discrepancies in the implantation compromised the possibilities of validating its initial theory and philosophy. The descriptive analysis showed that more than 95% of the recipients were reached by the intervention and the received dose of intervention was acceptable indicating that the intervention is a workable strategy that needs to be improved. The complete immunization coverage after the intervention was 87.3%; it was influenced positively by factors including parents’ level of knowledge and the fact that the child was born in a health center, and negatively by the long distances from household to immunization place. The strategies involved in the attainment of the results used parents’ knowledge improvement as a principal procedure. This contains an underlying mechanism mainly related to the perception of the opportunities that immunization permits for preventing various health, social and economic risks. However, complementary approaches tend to maximize intervention outcome by using the power given to female community immunization facilitators and social coercion. The research contributes to highlight the relationship between evaluability assessment and process evaluation, to propose a new conceptual and operational understanding of dose of intervention administered and dose of intervention received. On practical grounds, this research recommended the improvement of the immunization activities staff profile and the widespread adoption of the strategy after it improvement. Indications are provided to improve the intervention and to inform founding agencies.

L’espérance comme expérience ontologique chez Gabriel Marcel / Hope as ontological experience for Gabriel Marcel

Adjobi, Vast-Amour Dingui 12 December 2017 (has links)
Hope appears as the experience of a future which was not still lived yet and which is given as inobjectivable. This intuition has commanded the problematic of this research, which brings to light the conditions of possibility of a true hope in a world – ours – where it does not immediately find its place. This « broken » world, as Gabriel Marcel calls it, is under the influence of technic. It's a world in which prevail the need to do things, and also where existential questions are reduced to ''problems'' which must find their ''solution'' as any other problem come under the order of the possession. In this way, there is a ''problem of hope''. A philosophy is growing which emancipate itself from faith and which illustrations are found in particular in Hume's probabilism and Bloch's materialism. But Gabriel Marcel, by the method said about ''second reflection », bet to place hope under the seal of ''mystery''. It's all about understanding that hope, thought on the plan of ''the being'' and no more of ''the having'' is an experience still on training and which opens the way that follows a person defined by its ability to act, its relations to others and its aptitude to responsibility. In this sense, we support, with Ricoeur's support, that the subject identity of hope is essentially intersubjective and opened, according to a requirement of creative fidelity. We find more exactly in the « I and you familial» as Marcel calls it, the condition of possibility of a concrete experience of hope, understood as patience of a trying present and trust in an uncertain future. Referring back to back, the essentialist and constructivist conceptions of the family, we call creative vow, what within the family, of which we propose an enlarged conception is springing forth for the new and promise of life. So we assert that hope, however unverifiable as it may be, is, but according to authentic and inauthentic forms. The challenge of this work, recognizing this difference at the very heart of hope, is to understand how it, more than as a set of means, is fundamentally a start-up that is received from a call. From one to other, and which is constitutive of all action devoted to time. The presence of this other overflows any attempt at objectification. It is the inner place where the active expectation of hope as an ontological experience is lived.

Les différentes versions du Midrash Séder Eliyahou / The different versions of the Midrash Seder Eliyyahu

Friedler, Myriam 01 December 2015 (has links)
This thesis has sought to present a description of the versions of Midrash Seder Eliyyahu while polarizing on the search for the authentic version, as accurate as possible. This interdisciplinary study tries to use the palaeographic aspects of the manuscripts, the Hebrew language as well as comparative literature. The corpus of this Midrash contains six manuscripts elements. Only the Codex BAV, Vat. ebr. 31 is complete and in excellent condition. The three printed editions complete, are those of: Venice (1598), first edition, copy of incunabula, Prague (1677) and Vienna (1901), the critical edition of Friedman, based on BAV, Vat. ebr.31. This manuscript version was chosen as a referent. We propose the following hypothesis: The fidelity is not uniform, there are two loyalty dimensions, may seem contradictory : paleographic or/and exegetical. The study of the sources from the Genizah generated two possible cases : There would be only one family of the Midrash Seder Eliyyahu, referring to the version of BAV, Vat. ebr. 31. Either exist another version of SER, unknown and divergent from the Vatican 31, which will form one or more other family of manuscripts. If this second assumption proves true, Seder Eliyyahu could be a processing Midrash. The Western version is fully developed and secured while the eastern version be transmitted orally and not having reached its final form.

Noblesse et pouvoir princier dans la Lorraine ducale (vers 1620-1737) / Nobility and princely power in the duchies of Lorraine (from the 1620s to 1737)

Motta, Anne 04 December 2012 (has links)
This study tackles the relation between nobility and prince in the Duchies of Lorraine during the periodthat spans from the 1620s to 1737. The academic frame in which it is explored is one marked by reinforced ducalpower and by much turmoil within a transitory period. In such a border-line sovereign state, the nobility as represented by a few powerful houses stemmingfrom ancient chivalric backgrounds, embodies the social, moral and political elite of the day. Closely involved inthe Duke’s wields of executive power, and more than any other social body, nobles suffered from the manypoints of rupture that punctuated the 17th century : wars, French occupation and exile did indeed challeng thePrince’s service. These points of rupture jeopardized the fidelity to the Duke, one of the essential foundations ofthe link between the nobility and Power. The study revisits such key-notions as service, duty, and honour, notions which shape up nobles’ identity. After more than a half-century of disorders of all kinds, the Ryswick Peace (1697) brought the situationback to a relative stability and the Prince regained his Duchies. Putting back the State to its feet implied adialectical tension between tradition and change. The nobility eager to regain former responsabilities isconfronted with new uncertainties that will be partly overcome by the resurgence of princely favours and areshuffling of the Order. The balance of forces is put at stake in 1729 when Francois III comes to the throne and his fate is tomaterialize beyond frontiers. Detached from its heritage territory, the prince unbinds the ties which linked thenobility and puts an end to the absolute imperative of a prince’s service. The study of relations between nobility and duke throughout the long 17th century consists in an overallquestioning of a political society in a border-conscious and border-moving state.
