During the last year in the Innovation Engineering Program, at Halmstad University, a degree project was performed that was carried out during Fall semester in 2006 and Spring semester 2007. The project was performed by two students in corporation with LIC Audio AB, a company in Stockholm. The degree project was meant to result in a communication aid for people with a cognitive handicap. The project focused on people suffering from dementia because of the expressed need within this group. This aid should first and foremost help in a conversation between a person with dementia and another person, like a relative or nursing home staff. The two main problems that occur during a conversation with a person suffering from dementia is that the dementian have a hard time understanding the conversation, because of the disease, and that they, because of their age, have reduced hearing ability and even though they would need a hearing aid, they don’t use it. It was established early on in the project that the aid wasn’t supposed to be handled by the dementian but by the other person in the conversation. Through studies of different focus groups and a close contact with experts in the area, the project group have developed an aid where the basic function is based on improving the communication through pictures and amplified sound. The solution has passed through both functional tests and user tests and has been evaluated by a large network of involved stakeholders, with very positive results. The project has already gained funding from Hjälpmedelsinstitutet in the purpose of adjust the product to a serial production and further funding have been applied for to put the product in production. An application for patent was filed the 30/5 2007, by the patent office Albihns IP AB. The products further development is secured through the consulting agency Innovation Team Sweden AB, which has been assigned to the future project of bringing forth a complete product. A student on the program of Medical Technology, at the Royal Institute of Technology, is going to conduct a market research of the national and international markets. In this research the products opportunities on different markets will be analyzed.

This report is about accessibility at rest areas. We have examined the aisles and furniture of seven rest areas with a focus on accessibility for disabled persons. At the end of the report, we provide suggestions on how some of the weaknesses we have discovered can be addressed.

Antalet besökare på svenska kommuners webbsajter bestod år 2005 av drygt 60 procent av internetanvändarna i Sverige. Sedan dess har användandarna ökat precis som medellivslängden i Sverige också har ökat, under 2013 översteg medellivslängden 80 år för första gången hos män. Med en högre ålder ökar risken för olika funktionshinder och idag är det av stor vikt att kommunerna utvecklar sina webbplatser med detta i åtanke. Idag erbjuder så gott som alla svenska kommuner e-tjänster där medborgarna kan utföra sina ärenden på ett enklare, snabbare och självständigt sätt när de själva vill. Flera kommunsajter har både hög och bred tillgänglighet vid en första anblick. Dock skiljer sig ofta tillgängligheten markant på en kommuns startsida från den tillgänglighet som man finner på den del av webbplatsen som innehåller kommunens e-tjänster. Denna studie har visat att e-tjänsterna oftast har en lägre tillgänglighet än resten av webbplatsen och därför utesluter flera av de användare som tillhör kommunens målgrupp. Syftet med denna studie är att ta reda på varför tillgängligheten är lägre hos e-tjänsterna och vilka som är ansvariga för tillgängligheten och dess låga grad. Tidigare har antagandet gjorts att kommunerna är medvetna om att den bristande tillgängligheten hos e-tjänsterna gör dessa e-tjänster oanvändbara för flera grupper av användare. Den studie som presenteras här visar att en viss medvetenhet om dessa brister finns hos kommunernas utvecklare men även att den är låg. Kvalitativa telefonintervjuer har gjorts med fyra utvecklare från svenska kommuners IT-enheter och även en utvecklare hos en e-tjänstleverantör har intervjuats. Flera kunniga personer inom området tillgänglighet har också intervjuats över e-post. Telefonintervjuerna visade varför kommunerna har svårigheter att göra e-tjänsterna tillgängliga för hela sin målgrupp men även hur de arbetar med detta.

Detta är ett examensarbete för Ängelholms Kommuns Handikappomsorg i form av studier kring och utveckling av en webbsida där personer med ett handikapp, t.ex. utvecklingsstörning och aspergers syndrom, kan söka jobb. Denna forskning ska bidra till den framtida forskningen och hur man anpassar webben för dessa personer.

Det finns många olika typer av instruktionsmetoder alla har de sina för och nackdelar. Detta arbete går in på animation som ett instruktionsverktyg, och jämför sedan detta med stillbilds samt filmade instruktioner, för att få fram relevanta resultat. Inom ramen för detta resoneras det kring teorier angående kognitiv lagring samt kognitiv belastning. Teorier så som mirror- neurons samt jämförelser av de tre tidigare nämnda instruktionsmetoderna blir också uppdagade. Ett mindre experiment utfördes också där animerade, stillbilds och filmade instruktioner jämfördes utifrån tre frågor. Experimentet gick ut på att försöka förstå och utföra tre utvalda tränings övningar, alla försökspersoner hade någon form av mental funktionsnedsättning. Resultaten visade på att animerade och filmade instruktioner är att föredra när det gäller rörelser. Även att animation hade stora fördelar när det gällde att visualisera vilka muskler som användes samt bortse från onödigt material.

Detta är ett examensarbete på 7,5hp för CAD-Tekniker programmet på Högskolan I Halmstad. Gruppen har fått som uppdrag att ta fram en prototyplösning för en handikapsanpassad cykelpedal till en privatperson i Halmstad. Användaren kan inte böja sitt knä helt och kan inte använda en normal cykelpedal för höger ben. / This is a thesis report of 7,5hp for the CAD-Technician program at Halmstad Univeristy. The group was tasked with developing a prototype for a bicycle crank for an individual in Halmstad. The user has a bad knee, unable to bend it fully and is unable to use a normal crank for the right leg.

Undersökningens syfte är att visa på om respondenterna utsatts för ”cooling down” av sina studie- och yrkesvägledare. Den har genomförts medelst nio intervjuer med unga rörelsehindrade personer. Intervjuerna har analyserats med två kvalitativa analysmetoder, meningskoncentrering och dikotomi. Undersökningens resultat visar att en majoritet av respondenterna blivit utsatta för ”cooling down”- processer av vägledarna enligt följande: 1. Respondenten har haft en egen idé kring studie- och yrkesvalet men utsatts för brist på uppmuntran eller övertalningsförsök att välja andra utbildningar eller utbildningar med lägre krav. 2. Respondenten var i vägledningssituationen osäker på sitt mål och har utsatts för ”lobbying” att välja utbildningar som tycks stereotypa för gruppen till exempel data och kontor eller individuella programmet. Vägledarna fokuserar, i stor utsträckning, inte på individernas möjligheter utan verkar vilja begränsa dem efter de val de själva tycker är lämpliga. The purpose of this study was to see if the informants had been exposed to ”cooling down” processes by their guidance counsellors. The used method for collecting material was nine qualitative interviews. The result shows that a majority of these informants had been exposed to processes of cooling down by their guidance counsellors as follows: 1. The informant has had his or her own idea of a choice but been exposed to a lack of encouragement or attempts at persuasion of different paths or more simple paths. 2. The informant had no ambition of his or her own and has been exposed to lobbying to choose educational paths that seem stereotype for the group such as office and computers or the individual program. The counsellors seem, to a great extent, to not focus on the abilities for these individuals but seem to have an ambition to limit their choices after what they themselves find is appropriate. <p>The aim of this study was to investigate how disabled pupils feel about school lessons in physical education. Previous studies in the area show that many disabled pupils think that this is a problem. Drawing on data from one-to-one semi-structured interviews with six students in the age of 11-14 years, this study focused on how students with disability cope with their impairments and physical activity in school. The interviewees’ background displays a wide range of sport related activities and besides school the interviewees seem to be engaged in different sports associations on their leisure time. Overall, their experiences of physical education is positive. There was only one pupil who wasn’t satisfied with the set-up around the physical education lessons. The others had good relations to the school lessons. All students also had good relations towards sports in their spare time. They all also had a good relation to their teacher and the other students in their class.</p>
