The Influence of Layoff Practices and Organization Justice Climate on Affective Commitment of Survivors¡X A Multilevel Research

Lin, Chih-Tang 09 January 2010 (has links)
This study based its background on economic downturn and the following waves of organization downsizing, dating from August, 2008 to July, 2009. The research result presented the interplay between these organization care factors, by grouping eight layoff practices into two factors, with affective commitment and organization justice climate. Data were collected from 25 companies in Taiwan with labor-reduction experience during research timeframe and 332 employees in total. The finding indicated only those layoff practices, with direct impact on layoff survivors, are linked, though negatively, to affective commitment of remaining workers. Further, we found that procedural justice organization climate and interactional justice organization climate positively influence affective commitment; distributive justice organization climate does not.

Globos institucijų jaunesniųjų paauglių socialinių įgūdžių raiškos ypatumai / Features of social skills of younger adolescents in residential care institutions

Gončerovaitė, Kristina 02 August 2011 (has links)
Tyrime dalyvavo 82 respondentai, tyrimui panaudotas klausimynas, skirtas vaikų globos namuose dirbantiems specialistams. Tyrimas buvo atliktas... Statistics show that every year more and more children from dysfunctional families, are given the state custody (Pabedinskienė, 2004). A Member which has ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, is committed to ensuring full support for the child, creating all necessary conditions for successful socialization. Recently, our country is focusing on social integration in society of children, who are living at care homes. The Child Rights Law on the basis (1996), the Child Care Law (1998), the Child care organization policies (2002), has a great significance for this, emphasizing the need to provide all necessary assistance to these children, taking care of successful adaptation and integration in society (Raudeliūnaitė, Paigozina, 2009). In this context, great significance is given to an individuals social skills, because of their education a child improves an individuals social functioning capabilities, he is enable to effectively participate in social activities as well as fully in our society. The object of the study is - young adolescents (12-14 years), who are staying at care home social skills. The aim of the study is - to explore child care home expert opinion about the young adolescents (12-14 years) peculiarities of social skills. For this study a questionnaire was used to... A study of investigating organisational justice perceptions and experiences of affirmative action in a learning and development organisation

George, Munique January 2011 (has links)
There have been good arguments made for the development of aggressive affirmative action policies with the end goal of quickly moving black South Africans into corporate and high ranks within management of organisations. One of the central arguments in favour of aggressive AA policies is the risk of racial polarization post-apartheid should a quick fix not be initiated. It makes good business and economic sense for AA policies to be implemented as black consumers coupled with black managers will have the eventual end point of lower unemployment and crime, through job creation and security of the representative majority.

The Role of Organizational Justice in Predicting Attitudes Toward Body-Worn Cameras in Police Officers

Lawshe, Nathaniel L. 23 March 2018 (has links)
Body-worn cameras are a promising new development in policing. They have been linked to positive outcomes such as decreases in use of force and complaints against officers. However, this new technology has produced a number of issues that could thwart a successful body-worn camera program implementation. One issue is the extent in which officers possess positive attitudes toward using body-worn cameras. If officers do not view body-worn cameras positively, cameras may not be used to their full potential. A promising factor that has emerged from past research in explaining attitudes toward body-worn cameras is organizational justice. Broadly, organizational justice is defined as the extent in which members of an organization are treated fairly and believe this to be the case. Organizational justice has been linked to positive organizational outcomes such as increased compliance with organizational directives and positive evaluation of organizational leadership. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between organizational justice and attitudes toward body-worn cameras in police officers across three agencies. Findings indicated that there was no observable relationship between perceptions of organizational justice and attitudes toward body-worn cameras. There were a number of competing explanations for the findings, including potential measurement issues, possible intervening variables, and the possibility that there is no relationship between organizational justice and attitudes toward body-worn cameras.

Cognitive Congruence and Interactional Behavior of Cotherapists

Achterberg, Gloria Jeanne 08 1900 (has links)
Proponents of the use of cotherapists have stressed the importance of compatibility for effective cotherapy teams; however, the nature of compatibility has received little attention in experimental literature. This study investigated the nature of an effective cotherapy relationship through use of concepts espoused by George Kelly in his personal construct theory. Based on the results of the study, it was recommended that cotherapists be paired on the basis of their cognitive congruence. It was further proposed that cotherapists, especially those low in content congruence, allow themselves sufficient time for case discussion prior to and following their therapy sessions.

[en] THE INTERVIEW AS A SOCIAL ENCOUNTER: MOMENTS OF DISCOMFORT IN AN INTERACTION BETWEEN TWO ENGLISH TEACHERS / [pt] A ENTREVISTA COMO ENCONTRO SOCIAL: MOMENTOS DE DESCONFORTO NA INTERAÇÃO ENTRE DOIS PROFESSORES DE LÍNGUA INGLESA

GABRIELA COELHO OLIVEIRA 01 June 2017 (has links)
[en] The objective of this study is to investigate the discomfort created during an interview between two English teachers about the topic Discursive Genres. To achieve this purpose, we will analyze how the participating teacher and the researcher interacted during the conversation. The focus of the analysis is centered on the participants speech organization, changes of frame and alignment as well as discursive elements that indicate moments of discomfort. The theoretical architecture is based on studies developed by Erving Goffman and by the field of Interactional Sociolinguistics. The data was generated using a semistructured interview, based on the conception of interview as a discursive event, proposed by Elliot Mishler. Data analysis was based on studies in Ethnomethodological Conversational Analysis, which proposes a micro-analytical look at the discourse elements of the interaction. The research methodology, of a qualitative and interpretive nature, seeks to deepen the understanding about the (re)construction of moments of discomfort. Frequent stuttering occurrences, hesitations and accounts indicate moments of strong discomfort, insecurity and asymmetry between the participants. On the other hand, after the initial uncomfortable moment, there is a change in the teachers interactional posture, with situations of little discomfort discursively marked by concise sentences, disappearance of stuttering and hesitations and fewer accounts. Such considerations point to the importance of reflecting on how academic research may cause discomfort between participants, even when they are friends, thus suggesting the relevance of the research developed in this dissertation.

No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 5465547 bytes, checksum: 5ebb5185b8040d8bf76d7315b068d0e0 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-02-29 / The Audiovisual field is shaping up as a scenery full of constant changes and fluid relations among its media, as with Cinema and Television. This is due mainly to the media convergence phenomenon which has beem acting on the flow of content produced for these media. The audiovisual content is often the subject of debates and discussions between cybercinephiles, seriéfilos, fans and anyone who wants to emit information about the topics. These changes, brought about through the internet and new digital technologies, has enabled these subjects build a unique relationship with the audiovisual product. In order to understand how this phenomenon happens, we started out from the factors consumption, sharing and production to analyze how develop the interactions between subjects and audiovisual works, with the north laws of cyberculture suggested by André Lemos (2003). This resulted in the mapping of those practices and in the classification of groups found. In addition to following the participant observer method, we took on the Grounded Theory (GLASSER; STRAUSS, 2006), to collect and analyze the material. The results found were the discovery of more practices and more subjects acting within the audiovisual and contributing to the community that revolves around these issues. It came to our knowledge that the way to consume, share and produce audiovisual material has been changing. The strenght of amateurs networks present on the internet is largely influential in this process which, taking into account the transition phase, tends to an even greater transformation.

Estudo dos efeitos interacionais das repetições: colaboração e conflito / Study of interactional effects of repetitions: cooperation and conflict

Vanessa de Freitas Silva 04 November 2008 (has links)
Repetition is a trait of spoken language whose relevance, both for production and comprehension of the spoken text, is highlighted in a number of studies on Conversation Analysis concerned with observing this phenomenon, especially with reference to its formal and functional aspects. This current study focuses on the functional typology of repetition proposed by Luiz Antônio Marcuschi, one of the most renowned academics of conversation, to analyze its interactional effects. Through the theoretical framework provided by Conversation Analysis and Interactional Sociolinguistics, we seek to comprehend the relationship between different types of repetition and two qualitative traits which can permeate verbal interactions: collaboration and conflict.

Patterns of stance taking:negative yes/no interrogatives and tag questions in American English conversation

Keisanen, T. (Tiina) 25 April 2006 (has links)
Abstract This thesis reports on an empirical study of the forms and functions of two interrelated syntactic constructions, tag questions and negative yes/no interrogatives, in naturally occurring American English conversations. More specifically, the thesis focuses on examining the ways in which these interrogative constructions are involved in the intersubjective and interactional construction of stance. This involves describing the linguistic and interactional practices through which speakers index and negotiate their evaluative, affective or epistemic position or point of view towards some matter in the local context. The data used in the study comprise naturally occurring face-to-face and telephone interactions the majority of which take place between family and friends. The data are drawn from the first three published parts of the Santa Barbara Corpus of Spoken American English. The study is based on the methodological and theoretical principles of interactional linguistics and conversation analysis. The first part of the study provides an examination of the linguistic and grammatical patterning of the chosen constructions in a database of naturally occurring interactions in English. This serves first of all as a study of the general linguistic patterning of utterances with negation or reversed word order in interaction. At the same time, however, the grammatical and semantic categories of person, verb type and tense are employed for establishing the high frequency of linguistic and semantic material that index the current speaker's affective, evaluative and/or epistemic position towards the issue at hand. The second part of the study expands the focus from individual utterances to the surrounding interactional context in which the interrogative constructions are located, and makes use of the conversation analytic methodology. I examine how discourse participants use negative yes/no interrogatives and tag questions as a resource for carrying out different actions such as requesting for confirmation, challenging, disagreeing and assessing, and the ways in which interrogative speakers convey their epistemic, affective or evaluative stances in so doing. In this section of the study the research proceeds through detailed analyses of interaction, and an examination of those sequential environments in which the interrogative constructions are found.
