Transmissions intergénérationnelles dans des familles d'origine marocaine en France et en Allemagne : "la fierté d'être soi" / lntergenerational transmission processes in families with Moroccan origins in France and Germany : "the strategy of transmitting self-esteem"Pape, Elise 09 October 2012 (has links)
This PhD treats the question of transmission processes in families with migrant background. Departing from a socio-anthropological research, the study aims at depicting the impact of different national frameworks on these transmissions, but also to grasp the transnational dynamics at work, as the group of migrants concerned is particularly widespread in Europe. The analysis reveals different forms of transmission, going from the transmission of gender relations to the transmission of languages, transnational practices, religion or the positioning towards modernity and “Othering”. Independently from the social origin of the encountered families, these transmissions show to be motivated by the “strategy of transmitting self-esteem”, through which the families develop an active resistance to the impact of postcolonialism. A particularly powerful tool here by consists of the transmission of family memory, through which the encountered persons develop an intense reflection on the relationship between history, memory and the construction of contemporary societies, aiming at letting the “here” and the “there” get closer to one another.

In communities, the transmission occurs orally. Samba is no different. Since the founding of the samba schools, children and adolescents are actively involved, along with their families, the activities of these schools, including the carnival. These children and adolescents have, for decades, their own spaces in the schools of samba: the section for children and more recently small schools of feast and standard-bearer, and participation in junior batteries, bringing the perspective of professionalism and renewal in schools and Finally, the creation, from 1980, the samba school junior, who now open the carnival in Rio de Janeiro. Today there are 16 schools clustered in a specific association, mostly derived from the parent schools, bringing the shows over twenty-five thousand children and teenagers in the Friday preceding the Carnival. The Samba Schools Mirins try to insert themselves into the social policies for youth, especially the poor, for the promotion of citizenship and the revitalization of the sense of community. Founded in the oldest areas of Rio
de Janeiro, especially the planning area 3 - the suburbs - where they are concentrated, these samba schools junior maintain close ties with your neighborhood, encouraging sociability, intergenerational relationships and building trust is vital to the emergence of collective efficacy and social capital development in these areas. In addition, supply the absence of recreational areas and cultural facilities such space, strengthening ties with neighbors and friends and avoiding in some way, that drug trafficking violent shred further social and cultural life of the
region. In this sense, the samba schools junior contribute to the promotion of culture and Rio are as a proposal for health promotion and prevention of violence, mainly generated by drug trafficking and police repression against this scourge with a divisive character in the neighborhoods where these schools organized originally.

Devenir adulte au Maroc : les jeunes de Sidi Ifni / Growing up in Morocco : young people in Sidi IfniBoufraioua, Leila 24 November 2015 (has links)
During the first half of the 20th century in Morocco, the transition of women and men to adulthood is characterized by the early crossing of three different successive steps, which differ according to the sex. Concerning women, the first step corresponds to leaving parental home, associated with the entry into union, followed by the first birth. While for men these steps have to do with the exercise of an economic activity, marriage and first birth. These gender differences are explained by a distribution of gender roles during childhood, which is to say by the investment of boys in public life (access to education and employment) and that of girls in the private sphere (domestic tasks). However, within a few decades, these traditional roles are going to be questioned. The democratization of schooling and the entrance of women into the labour force will deeply change the access modes to adult life (graduation, first job, leaving parental home, marriage, first birth). This thesis reveals the mechanisms interacting during the construction of the youth life course, taking into account sex, generation and social class of the youths who were investigated. It stands on a complementary quantitative and qualitative methodology, based on a biographical survey, conducted in the city of Sidi Ifni (south western Morocco), with young people aged 15 to 35 years (408 respondents), in 2009 and 25 in-depth interviews.

FundaÃÃo de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Cearà / FundaÃÃo Cearense de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Cientifico e TecnolÃgico / nÃo hà / This research addresses the concepts of participation produced by children, adolescents and adult counselors from the Participatory Budgeting - OP - Fortaleza - CE. It is a study that has experience as a backdrop to this mechanism of participatory democracy on the management of the budget and social policies of that city. His methodological approach assumes the idea of between-places of the Bhabha refers to the place in contemporary culture, which influences the understanding Sarmento about relations between the generations of children, adolescents and adults mutations located in the interstices those age groups and common historical times. Consistent with this proposal, this research is the method SociopoÃtica that brings in its political and epistemological reference to the democratization of knowledge construction for the affirmation of cultures dominated, the integration between art and science and to the research group by producer confetos, becomings , singularizations on the theme generator participation. Through the method of dialogue contributions of Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the objects generating Ramos and the Theatre of the Oppressed Boal, artistic resources were experienced in the production and analysis of the data themselves co-researchers. This material has gone through a cluster analysis and a cross-sectional study found confetos, made by the academic researcher. After the counter-analysis to the research group of this study, we performed a comparison of confetos with the concepts of citizen participation Sanchez and Munoz, researchers from the OP. The findings show that confetos discuss participation in OP from a community perspective and personal horizon and bring the fight for improvements to communities and to a lesser degree, in the city. This differs from the focus on the relationship between society and State public involvement. Besides, it brings the conflicts among the population shrouded in intrigue relationships and marriages. Finally, despite the differences, shows a greater convergence and complementarity between confetos Munoz and citizen participation in the affirmation of participation in their personal and community developments are inseparable.

Beyond the GenerAsians : Intergenerational programming and Vancouver’s ChinatownTang, Andrea 11 1900 (has links)
Applying the "age" lens, this paper asks: how can intergenerational programming
move the current Vancouver Chinatown Revitalization process towards a more ageintegrated
and life course-oriented approach? In addition, a meta-question is: How can
intergenerational programming assist diverse populations (i.e. younger and older people)
collectively search for new meanings for Chinatowns in transition?
The qualitative and quantitative methods used in this research include reviewing
literature, primary documents, city documents, unpublished works, and conference
papers. Basic demographic analyses, community interviews, and surveys were
conducted. As a member of the Vancouver Chinatown Revitalization Committee and
intern at the City of Vancouver, personal observations were also made between 2002
and 2004.
This research adopts the Community for all Ages model to evaluate Vancouver's
Chinatown revitalization process and makes recommendations that move it towards
intergenerational programming - a mechanism to respond to key challenges from the
"age lens": changing age demographics, the diversifying Chinese-Canadian community
in Vancouver, and aging institutions in Chinatown.
Challenging traditional theories of generations and assimilation, the results of this
research illustrate the need for planners, policymakers, and community workers to
recognize the diverse stories and experiences along the age continuum and to adopt a
life-course approach in moving communities from age-segregation to age-integration.
Identifying some key issues for implementation and future research, this study has
implications for the application of intergenerational programming in Vancouver's
Chinatown but also in other Chinatowns currently facing similar challenges. / Applied Science, Faculty of / Community and Regional Planning (SCARP), School of / Graduate

The Generational Shift: an Exploration of Leadership Behaviors of Senior Student Affairs Officers Through a Generational LensRobinson, Johnny A. 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this quantitative study was to identify and compare differences in leadership behaviors of senior student affairs officers (SSAOs) based on their generational cohort (Baby Boomer, Generation X, Millennial). The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) was used to measure nine leadership behaviors and three leadership outcomes. Surveys were administered electronically to 3,361 individuals identified as a chief student affairs officer or director of student affairs in the Higher Education Online Directory (2014). The 449 respondents included 246 Baby Boomers, 192 Generation Xers, and 11 Millennials. Due to an uneven sample size, the Millennial group was removed from the data analysis. The total respondents consisted of 215 male and 219 female SSAOs with 260 employed at four-year private institutions and 170 employed at four-year public institutions. A MANOVA was utilized to determine whether or not statistical differences existed between the nine dependent variables (leadership behaviors) and independent group variables (generational group). The findings showed that whereas Generation X SSAOs exhibited more transactional leadership behaviors, Baby Boomer SSAOs were more transformational. The results of this study have implications for the field of student affairs in that research and practice support the need for more transformational leaders in senior administrative positions in higher education. If Generation X SSAOs who represent the next generation of administrators are more transactional in their leadership, college presidents and professional associations may need to develop a new, more transformational generation of SSAOs to replace Baby Boomers as they retire.

Individuation and connection in mother-daughter relationshipsHsu, Shu-Chun, M.A. 30 November 2005 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to explore the processes of individuation and connection in mother-daughter relationships, and describe how these relationships may or may not be facilitated by the intervention of reflections and joint narratives.
This study used social constructionism as the epistemological framework and involved in-depth interviews with three mother-daughter pairs. Hermeneutics was used to analyse the data.
The participants' experiences were recounted through the researcher's lens in the form of themes that characterised their relationships as well as interactional patterns. Participant's experiences of the research process, and what the researcher believed were helpful and unhelpful behaviours in her interaction with each mother-daughter pair, were discussed. A comparative analysis was also undertaken between the common themes identified in the stories of the mother-daughter pairs and the literature.
The information gained could assist women as well as professionals in understanding and respecting mother-daughter relationships in their specific contexts. / Psychology / M. A. (Psychology)

Generational sub-culturesMoss, Michelle Joan 04 1900 (has links)
The objective of this study was to determine (1) if there is a difference between Baby
Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y employees’ perceptions of organisational
culture and if so, (2) to determine if generational sub-cultures are formed within an
organisation as a result of these different perceptions. A quantitative research design
was chosen, and employees (n = 455) in a large South African information and
communication technologies (ICT) sector company, selected through proportionate,
random, stratified sampling, completed the South African Culture Instrument (SACI).
Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data, and the results of
this study indicate that generational sub-cultures can be identified in the
organisation, based on significantly different perceptions of five of the seven
dimensions of organisational culture examined. This study therefore contributes to
the body of knowledge on organisational culture and the formation of sub-cultures at
a generational level and can be used to enhance organisational talent and
management strategies. / Industrial & Organisational Psychology / M.Com. (Industrial and Organisational Psychology)

Multi-generational ministries in the context of a local church / DissertationCodrington, Graeme Trevor 11 1900 (has links)
Never before in living memory has the gap in mutual acceptance and understanding between generations been as large as it is now. Massive societal and cultural shifts, fuelled by changing technology, increasing rates of change, globilisation and disconnectedness, have caused a deep divide between those born in the first two-thirds of this century and those born in the latter decades. This dissertation aims to identify the causes of this divide,
quantify the effects and suggest solutions. Although generally applicable to many different organisations in society, especially schools, parenting, businesses with young and old employees or those with generationally diverse target markets, this dissertation focuses specifically in application on the context of local churches. It aims to provide an understanding of the concept of a "generation gap" and practical guidelines for churches
seeking to become truly multi-generational in their structures and ministries. / Practical Theology / M. Diac. (Youth Work Direction)
