O planejamento turístico a partir da avaliação do potencial do município de São João da Barra (RJ) / The tourism planning from the evaluation of the potencial of the municipality of São João da Barra (RJ)

Alessandra Conci Ficagna 28 June 2012 (has links)
The municipality of São João da Barra, located in the region of the North Fluminense State of Rio de Janeiro, for possessing a vast natural wealth, especially beaches, is a popular location for tourism, mainly in the summer, time more conducive to bathing, also attracts a large demand of tourists through various events organized by prefecture, such as Carnival, resulting as a consequence the development of mass tourism. Furthermore, the municipality was chosen to host the Logistics and Industrial Complex Port of Açu (CLIPA), higher port-industry enterprise in Latin America, and one of the three largest port complexes in the world, which is under implementation.

Björk, Emma, Wieden, Hanna January 2017 (has links)
This bachelor thesis will present the ever-growing phenomenon, mass tourism and what impact it has on tourists when they are traveling and in their everyday life. To get a general picture of how the phenomenon affects tourists, we have done a survey answered by a hundred people who got to describe whether and how they experienced mass tourism. To get a better understanding of how mass tourism affects a specific destination, we have made interviews with ten people who all visited Venice, which is the city that we have made a case study about. In the introductory part we will present mass tourism and explain the phenomenon. In the methodology part, we explain the methods we will use and why we think they fit our thesis. Previous research includes research already done about mass tourism in general and mass tourism in Venice. In the framework for further research, we will explain the concepts which we then are going to analyse our results from. In the result, we present and analyse the empirical findings that we have collected through our survey and interviews. The discussion part will discuss our results and ultimately lead to our conclusion. Our research questions are: In what way do tourists generally think that mass tourism have affected their visits to a destination? And How do visitors in Venice see its mass tourism and in what way does the phenomenon affect their visit?

Contribution of Tourism to the Sustainable Development of the Local Community : Case Studies of Alanya and Dubrovnik

Beban, Ana, Ok, Huseyin January 2006 (has links)
The Mediterranean is the world’s number one tourist destination and the biggest tourism region in the world, which has been visited by 260 million tourists in 1990 and what is more, it is expected that this number will increase to 655 million by the year 2025. In the last 10 years Croatia and Turkey became two of the most popular Mediterranean destinations, and joined the trend of a growing number of European cities that are promoting the development of tourism in order to overcome the post-industrial crisis, or as in the case of Croatia, the post-war crisis. Consequently, today both countries see tourism as their economic future. However, to achieve continuous and sustainable development of tourism, three interrelated aspects should be taken into consideration: economic, social, and environmental. The main question that we tried to answer is in what ways tourism is contributing to the sustainable development of the local community - based on the case studies of Alanya in Turkey, and Dubrovnik in Croatia. Both communities have experienced rapid development of the tourism sector in the last 10 years, which still seems to rise continuously. As a result, various impacts have occurred. Some of them are positive and there is an obvious contribution to sustainable development, while some of the impacts have negative influence on sustainability. Alanya is characterized by the 3S or mass tourism, while Dubrovnik is a world heritage city, which is offering cultural tourism. Notably, mass tourism in Alanya and cultural tourism in Dubrovnik have different impacts on a place. Although Alanya has the opportunity to diversify their tourism, mass tourism is still the main tourism activity. Since mass tourism generally involves a large number of people visiting a small area, it can change an area dramatically. What is interesting about Dubrovnik is that its tourism has suffered a series of devastating events throughout history, such as a major earthquake in 1979 and war between 1991 and 1995, which has left the local tourist economy in tatters. However, cultural tourism in Dubrovnik has been proven as a more sustainable type of tourism than the mass tourism in Alanya, which can be mostly seen through the environmental impacts. In Dubrovnik, tourism is used to increase environmental awareness of the local population, and moreover, the city has recognized the financial values of cultural sites, which are used for the protection and preservation of the heritage. While Dubrovnik is putting a lot of effort to preserve its culture and heritage, Alanya’s main aim is to attract more tourists. For that reason, Alanya is much more sensitive than Dubrovnik concerning the possible threats to become an overdeveloped and overcrowded destination. The rich cultural and historical heritage make Dubrovnik a special and unique tourist destination, and therefore it is facing less risk than Alanya that it will be replaced by the other destinations in the near future. What is important for both communities is to be aware that positive consequences of tourism can arise only if, and when tourism is carried out and developed in a sustainable way. In order to achieve positive correlation between tourism and the local community, an involvement of the local population is essential. In Dubrovnik, the local population has been already involved in the implementation of the tourism, but the potential is still not completely used and there is much more to be done. On the other hand, the priority for Alanya perhaps should be a development of the alternative types of tourism with the special focus on the cultural tourism, which would enable Alanya to become a year-round tourist destination and provide more jobs for the local population, as well as greater income for the community. Moreover, earned money could be used for the protection of the environment and cultural heritage, and involvement of the local population in the planning process would arguably lead to more sustainable tourism. / Ana Beban +385 98 389 420 +385 1 3768 230 anabeban@yahoo.com Huseyin Ok huseyinok@gmail.com

Doba temna? Aneb o tom, co dnes v Praze zahraničním turistům z komunismu ukazujeme, o čem jim vyprávíme a co si necháváme pro sebe. / A dark period? Or what today we show to the foreign tourist from communism, what we tell them and what we leave for ourselves.

Zýková, Iva-Hedvika January 2012 (has links)
Annotation: The presented Diploma thesis deals with the ways in witch is today, more than twenty years after the "Velvet Revolution", communist period presented to foreing tourists in Prague and in the sector of mass tourism.. It is based on my field research that took place in the Museum of Communism, during the especially on communism oriented guided tours and but rather commplementary, in the Propaganda pub and also on the semi-structured formal and informal interviews with guides. The thesis focuses on the differences in the presentation of communism in different generations of guides, it monitors how their personal, or, conversely, indirect or mediated experience affects their references. My work is observes communism not only as marketing tourism product, but using the concepts of social memory I try to point to range of different individual memories based on everyday experiences. These small personal histories of everyday life complement established, or rather the one that is still being instituted. The thesis also monitors and reflets some possible adjustments and transformations of social memory and outline what could be the motivation for these changes. Keywords: Mass tourism; communism; social memory; identity; places of memory - "les lieux de mémoire".

The More the Merrier? : A Study of Sustainable Tourism Development in the Seychelles Islands

Janson, Elin, Långström, Cathrin January 2013 (has links)
ABSTRACT The cost of doing nothing would be very high on the fragile national ecosystems andultimately on the society of the Seychelles. ’Seychelles National Report 2012 p55 This Minor Field Study, undertaken as a Bachelor’s thesis, aims to research the Seychelleswork with sustainable tourism development and its challenges. The study was conducted onsite for two months in cooperation with the Seychelles Tourism Board. The national strategyfor sustainable tourism development is intended to maintain the uniqueness of Seychelles.Seychelles has for over 30 years been a global leader in protecting biodiversity and naturalenvironment and 51 % of the total land area consists of conservation areas. On the otherhand, Seychelles main source of income is tourism, with 40 % of the inhabitants directly orindirectly depending on tourism. As one of our interviewees put it: “the more tourism, themerrier”. The country will get better infrastructure and more jobs because of it and howcould that spoil the environment? This study looks into hotels perceptions of sustainabledevelopment in the tourism industry, their work with sustainable practices and thoughtsconcerning ecolabelling. Results show dissatisfaction with the government and that betterenvironmental governance is needed. The recent rapid development of new hotels isbecoming a rather problematic situation due to higher competition, infrastructural problemsand lack of labour force. The interest in an eco label is high, although they believe it iscomplicated to implement and is perceived as expensive. On the other hand, hotels are moreor less working in a sustainable way already.Regardless of the sustainable tourism development initiative, our interviewees had afear that Seychelles is becoming a mass tourism destination. They demand that this trend bestopped. We ask therefore, is more really merrier?

Pro-environmental Behavior in Mass Tourism : Testing manipulation techniques in tourists for "voluntary" sustainable actions / Comportamiento pro-ambiental en turismo masivo : Técnicas de manipulación para la acción sustentable en el turista

Fernandez Grijalva, Nicia Ivonne January 2017 (has links)
Five suggested experiments from tested Pro-environmental behavior change studies made in different advance economy countries were applied in the emerging economy tourist destination: Samalayuca Sand Dunes Park in Ciudad Juárez, Chih. México. Results show that promoting connectivity between the tourist and the destination, framing actions for tourists who are not aware about sustainable practices, encouraging sustainable actions with non monetary incentives, and reminding tourists faults against the environment are sucessful techniques to enhance pro-environmental behaviors in tourists; while a combination of these practices may enhance positive spillover to increase such actions and thus, helping to close the ”holiday” gap or the unsustainable behavior tourists show during travel. /
The presentation was given as ViVA, were all opponents and exponents were students.
/ Pro-environmental behavior in masses
