Griffioen, Hendrik Cornelis January 1999 (has links)
The aims of this study are to establish: • what work satisfaction entails • which factors influence the work satisfaction of the principal according to the available literature • which factors in teaching practice influences the work satisfaction of the principal. To achieve these goals both an empirical and a survey of the literature was conducted. The study of the literature was undertaken from primary and secondary sources. After the characteristics and factors of work satisfaction have been established and discussed, a questionnaire was drafted. From the literature the following factors, the need of acknowledgement, the need to excel, relationships within the school, physical circumstances at work, and the status of the principal were identified as important. A systematic sample was used in which principals of primary schools in the Northern Cape were involved. The information gathered was processed with the aid of a computer. After processing, the data was interpreted and findings were established. According to the findings recommendations were made. The empirical investigation indicated that principals have reasonable work satisfaction but that there still are certain factors that should be addressed. Some of these factors are a healthy relationship with pupils, colleagues and subordinates and the line of communication between the school and Education Department. Certain recommendations are made on the basis of the empirical investigation. The most important recommendations are that the line of communication between the school and Education Department should be improved, and that achievements of the principal in his working environment should be acknowledged more. / Thesis (MEd)--PU for CHE, 1999

The role of the social worker in motivating parents to disclose the sexual abuse of their child / Motshegoa M.J.

Motshegoa, Motshabi Josephine January 2011 (has links)
Child sexual abuse is a serious problem that always has been and will be with families and communities. Child sexual abuse occurs within the family, and parents sometimes expect of the child not to tell, or tell the child to deny the abuse. This situation is sometimes exacerbated by the position of the perpetrator within or towards the family. Parents need to be familiarized with the different phases of the process of sexual abuse. Parents are expected to be committed and to provide reliable care and protection for the child. Child sexual abuse is a sensitive issue that harms the inner emotional person of the victim, and affects other family members. The child and the parents need a social worker who has the knowledge and skills to help the family. The family structure, its functioning and the relationships in the family are all important within the context child sexual abuse. The research was conducted among the social workers in Madibeng Municipality. The aim was to explore and describe the role of social workers in motivating parents to disclose the sexual abuse of their child. An empirical study was conducted using a qualitative approach to explore the role of the social worker. A self–administered schedule was used to evaluate the role of the social worker by means of interviews with each social worker. From the data collected during this research it becomes evident that social workers need forensic training so that they could learn the relevant skills and techniques to interview and handle child sexual abuse cases. The knowledge received during training will not only benefit the children, but also the parents. This research found that most social workers employed in both government and non–government organizations in the Madibeng area have not received formal training on how to deal with sexually abused children and their parents, especially with regard to how to motivate parents to disclose the sexual abuse of their child. Guidelines are offered for social workers on how they can motivate parents to disclose the sexual abuse of their children. / Thesis (M.A. (MW))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2012.

Is the reading homework necessary? : A qualitative study of what 5 teachers in grades 1 think about the reading homework and its importance to students

Jonasdottir, Eva, Fernros, Emma January 2020 (has links)

Värdeladdade områden i historieundervisningen / Sensitive Topics in History Teaching

Hembo, Robin, Eskilsson, Emil January 2021 (has links)

Botha, Jan Jakobus 23 July 2008 (has links)
The influence of the work circumstances of high school teachers on their attitude towards their work and their levels of motivation. 1Introduction The working circumstances of high school teachers have changed over the past few years, and more specifically since the implementation of OBE and the rationalisation of teachers. The research presumption is that, as a result of the changes, teachers’ workloads have increased and consequently, they have less time to complete more work. The latter includes preparation for the various learning areas, as well as OBE administration. 2Background Certain elements in teachers’ work circumstances which influence attitudes include the following: The change in work circumstances has resulted in a greater workload which consequently led to an increase in stress levels. Higher stress levels are experienced by teachers worldwide, and not only in South Africa. Teachers have to work longer hours to complete their work. Many teachers don’t experience job satisfaction in their present circumstances. Changes in education influence the attitudes, achievements and performance of teachers. This causes a decrease in their motivation levels. Statistics prove that teachers have a low morale country wide. 3Research Methodology Research question: How did the changed work circumstances of teachers influence their attitude towards their work and their motivation levels? This is a qualitative study in which interviews, six in total, with teachers with more than eight years’ experience of parallel medium (former Model C schools) and black schools were used. / Dissertation (MEd (Educational Leadership))--University of Pretoria, 2006. / Education Management and Policy Studies / MEd / unrestricted

Waxin, Emelie, Lindholm, Moa January 2023 (has links)
