Esta dissertação busca investigar os materiais sócio-históricos dos anos 60 norte-americanos materializados no romance de ficção científica Do androids dream of electric sheep? de Philip K. Dick por meio da análise do foco narrativo, especialmente. Embora não seja considerado um dos mais refinados romances de Dick, a obra apresenta um diagnóstico bastante apurado dos limites de experiência disponíveis da década. / This dissertation aims to investigate the socio-historical materials of the North American 60s materialized in the Philip K. Dicks science fiction novel Do androids dream of electric sheep? by analyzing its point of view, mostly. Although it is not considered one of Dicks finest novels, the work presents a very refined diagnosis of the limits of the available experiences of the decade.

Um dos pontos polêmicos da abordagem lukácsiana desse problema é a combinação da teoria de Marx com elementos de outras matrizes metodológicas. Este estudo pretende apresentar a análise de um caso desse tipo de combinação: a apropriação feita por Lukács de elementos presentes na obra de Max Weber. Nos centramos, mais precisamente, no modo pelo qual Lukács articula a temática weberiana da racionalização do mundo na elaboração do conceito de reificação, que é o conceito central de História e Consciência de Classe. Procuramos esclarecer o caráter dessa articulação, de forma a responder às seguintes perguntas: a obra de Lukács constitui um quadro teórico "eclético", em que tradições conceituais distintas (a de Marx e a Weber) se justapõem de maneira fortuita ou contingente? A partir de que ponto de vista Lukács combina essas orientações teóricas? Para tanto, analisamos as aproximações e os distanciamentos entre os conceitos em tela, identificando quais aspectos da obra de Weber sobre a racionalização estão presentes no conceito lukácsiano de reificação, e quais aspectos foram por Lukács descartados. Nossa conclusão é a de que Lukács realiza uma apropriação da temática weberiana da racionalização a partir de um ponto de vista específico - a sua leitura da teoria de Marx como uma teoria que parte da perspectiva da totalidade. Lukács confere, assim, um novo estatuto a essa temática weberiana e cria a sua própria e original estrutura teórica, em que a racionalização permite a generalização do fetichismo e da alienação para as diferentes áreas da vida cultural. / Abstract: History and Class Consciousness, a book published by Georg Lukacs in 1923, was the subject of intense debates throughout the twentieth century because of the originality with which the Hungarian philosopher dealt with a hot topic in Marxist theory: the issue of consciousness. One of the controversial aspects of Lukács' approach to this problem is the combination of Marx's theory with elements of different methodological frameworks. This study aims to assay a case of this kind of combination: the appropriation made by Lukacs of elements present in the work of Max Weber. We focus more precisely on the way Lukács articulates the Weberian thematic of the rationalization of the world in the developing of the concept of reification, which is the central concept of History and Class Consciousness. We seek to clarify the nature of this relationship in order to answer the following questions: s the work of Lukacs an "eclectic" theoretical framework in which different conceptual traditions (those of Marx and Weber) are juxtaposed in a fortuitous or contingent way? From what point of view Lukacs combines these theoretical orientations? To answer these questions, we analyze the approaches and the detachments between the focused concepts, identifying the aspects of Weber's work on rationalization which are present in the lukacsian concept of reification, and what aspects were discarded by Lukacs. The conclusion reached here is that Lukacs appropriates the Weberian theme of rationalization from a specific point of view - his reading of Marx's theory as a theory that some of view of totality. Such relationships are the object of study of this research and are taken as an illustration of forms of sociability instituted by capitalist materiality and rationality. Twenty twelve-year-old adolescents were interviewed and spoke about their relationship with electronic games. These included adolescents from high and low social classes, both male and female. This research is theoretically grounded in dialectical materialism and in the categories named rationality and contradiction. In the context of the rationality that organises the relations of production and influences subjectivity in capitalist societies, this thesis looks at the instrumental rationality in Adorno and Horkheimer, the technological rationality in Marcuse and the logic of operation of the Culture Industry. This work also presents considerations of the cultural construction of electronic games, especially in relation to playfulness, leisure, and toys and games in general. Submission, based on alienation and reification of subjectivity, and resistance, understood within the remit of criticism and emancipation, were also objects of theoretical analysis. The results of this research point to the contradiction between submission and resistance in the context of the relationships between adolescents and the rationality contained in electronic games. The constitutive nexuses of this contradiction are: the relationship between the rules and victory; changes in the functioning patterns of games; "being in and out" of the game; the understanding of creativity; the experience of emotions and sensations; the thought process in accordance with the logic of the market; and the understanding of the relationships between electronic games and social reality. Independent of class and gender variables, this research reveals that in the context of contradiction there is a predominance of submission over resistance. From this empirical research, illuminated by theory, emerges the possibility of emancipation through contradiction, since the rationality that takes hold of humans is a product of subjectivity objectified in reality. Finally we consider that consciousness reified in the name of the rationality of technique is a reality, but we also understand that the possibility of overcoming this rationality through the very rationality that one denies and questions is real. This means that electronic games, as an emblem of a rationality that instrumentalises human life, offer in their relationship with adolescents the possibility of overcoming their own rationality, that is, their own contradiction. / O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar as relações dos adolescentes com os jogos eletrônicos na perspectiva contraditória da submissão e da resistência. Tais relações constituem o objeto de estudo desta investigação e são tomadas como emblema de formas de sociabilidade instituídas pela materialidade e racionalidade capitalistas. Foram entrevistados vinte adolescentes na faixa etária de doze anos, pertencentes às classes alta e popular e aos gêneros masculino e feminino, que se pronunciaram a respeito de suas relações com os jogos eletrônicos. Esta investigação se fundamenta teoricamente no materialismo dialético e nas categorias intituladas racionalidade e contradição. No contexto da racionalidade que organiza as relações de produção e exerce influência sobre as subjetividades nas sociedades capitalistas, esta tese aborda a racionalidade instrumental em Adorno e Horkheimer, a racionalidade tecnológica em Marcuse e a lógica de operação da Indústria Cultural. Este trabalho também tece considerações acerca da construção cultural do jogo eletrônico, notadamente a partir da ludicidade, do lazer, do brinquedo e dos jogos de forma geral. Foram também objetos de apreensão teórica: a submissão, consubstanciada na alienação e na reificação de subjetividades, e a resistência, compreendida no âmbito da crítica e da emancipação. Os resultados desta pesquisa apontam para a contradição entre a submissão e a resistência no contexto das relações entre os adolescentes e a racionalidade contida no jogo eletrônico. Os nexos constitutivos dessa contradição são a relação entre as regras e a vitória, as mudanças nos padrões de funcionamento dos jogos, o “estar dentro e fora” do jogo, a compreensão da criatividade, a experiência de emoções e sensações, o pensamento de acordo com a lógica do mercado e o entendimento das relações entre o jogo eletrônico e a realidade social. De forma independente dos recortes de classe e gênero, esta investigação revela que, no contexto da contradição, há predominância da submissão sobre a resistência. Também emerge, ainda a partir da contradição, a possibilidade de emancipação, uma vez que a racionalidade que se apodera do homem é produção da subjetividade objetivada na realidade. Por fim, este trabalho considera que tanto a consciência reificada em nome da racionalidade da técnica é uma realidade concreta, quanto é real a possibilidade de superação dessa racionalidade por dentro da própria razão que se nega e se questiona. Isso significa que o jogo eletrônico, como emblema de uma racionalidade que instrumentaliza a vida do homem, abriga, na relação com os adolescentes, as possibilidades de superação de sua própria racionalidade, ou seja, de sua própria contradição.

O caráter opressivo da produção capitalista não se encontra apenas em seu regime de propriedade ou extração de mais-valia, mas assume incomparável visibilidade na organização mesma do trabalho fabril e na experiência que se tem dele. Este trabalho buscou investigar, através de uma pesquisa de campo em regime de observação participante, as relações entre a organização e a experiência do trabalho numa metalúrgica da região do ABC paulista. Durante dois anos, um dia por semana, o cargo de ajudante geral foi assumido pelo pesquisador. O foco da pesquisa privilegiou a experiência de trabalho na fábrica: as formas de relacionamento dos homens entre si, com as máquinas e a matéria do trabalho. Pelo testemunho de uma experiência pessoalmente assumida e pelo contato e conversas com os trabalhadores, buscamos os episódios e as palavras que nos pareceram melhor descrevê-la. Autores como Simone Weil, Karl Marx, Lucien Goldmann, Ecléa Bosi e José Moura Gonçalves Filho ajudaram a balizar esta investigação. As perguntas que procuramos responder foram sobretudo as seguintes: 1) a experiência de trabalho ainda se caracteriza. como expôs Simone Weil, pela transformação do homem em um instrumento de trabalho fabril, pelo impedimento da participação na organização e planejamento das atividades? 2) Corno reagem os operários ao trabalho fabril? 3) Desde então, quais transformações da organização do trabalho poderíamos vislumbrar e que seriam favoráveis aos operários? As atividades fabris, tais como realizadas. assumem a figura de um processo maquinal, rápido, esquemático, e não a genuína figura de um trabalho humano. A impossibilidade de participação na organização das tarefas impede que elas sejam vividas com interioridade ou que abriguem formas de aparição pessoal. Ainda assim, os trabalhadores, através das iniciativas e movimentações no chão-de-fábrica, empenham formas de resistir a este esvaziamento de suas atividades / The oppressiveness of the capitalist production does not only features in its regime of propriety or in the extraction rise, but assumes incomparable visibility in the manufacturing work itself and in the experience one can have from it. This study soughts investigate, through a field research with participant observation, the relations between the institution and the working experience in a workshop metallurgy of ABC. For two years, once a week, the post of general helper was taken over by the researcher. The main focus was in the work experience in the workshop: sorts of relationship among the workers, between the workers and the machines, and between them and the final product. By the report of a personal experience and the record of conversations with the workers, we looked for the episodes and the words that most seemed to well describe it. Authors such as Simone Weil, Karl Marx, Lucien Goldmann, Hannah Arendt, Ecléa Bosi and José Moura Gonçalves Filho were the main theoretical references for this investigation. The questions addressed to this study were: 1) Is the working experience still characterized by the transformation of men into an instrument of the manufacturing work, by their exclusion in the organization and planning of activities, as exposed by Simone Weil? 2) How do the workers react to lhe manufacturing work? 3) What transformations of the work organization could be favorable to the workers? The manufacturing activities, as accomplished, assume the aspect of a mechanical, fast, schematic process, and not the genuine aspect of a human work. We intend to demonstrate that the fundamental freedoms upon which are laid down the economic integration, in particular the free movement of workers, are not human freedoms, but derivation of the reification of human relations. Although the main backdrop is the MERCOSUR, other regionalization scenarios are also part of the analysis. To make the diagnosis of the legal texts of economic integration of MERCOSUR, it starts from the Lukacsian conception of reification, using a critical perspective on regulatory texts that rule the labor relations in this economic bloc. Therefore, concepts of Marxian alienation and Weberian rationalization lead to understanding of this analysis. There is still an approach from a historical perspective about the formation of rights reified as a result of the implementation of the capitalist and its regional and global expansion. / O presente trabalho tem por objeto a análise da regulamentação jurídica das relações de trabalho tomadas no bojo dos processos de regionalização empreendidas por meio de integração econômica. Pretende-se demonstrar que as liberdades fundamentais sobre as quais se assentam a integração econômica, em especial a livre circulação de trabalhadores, não são liberdades humanas, mas sim derivação da reificação das relações humanas. Embora o pano de fundo principal seja o MERCOSUL, outros cenários de regionalização fazem parte também da análise. Para proceder à análise dos diplomas jurídicos que regem a integração econômica do Mercado do Sul, parte-se da concepção lukacsiana de reificação, utilizando-a em perspectiva crítica aos textos normativos que regem as relações de trabalho no bloco econômico. Para tanto, concorrem os conceitos marxiano de alienação e weberiano de racionalização. Há ainda uma abordagem, sob uma perspectiva histórica, da formação dos direitos reificados em decorrência da implementação do sistema capitalista e de sua expansão regional e global.

It is understood that this is a qualitative research as a strategic event that brings the issue of reification, as a phenomenon that transcends the rational nature of man, according to the Marxist view of social-affective relations of commodity fetishism and the effect that the stock market can cause in capitalist societies, this study took place within the central research object, the Ideb that its arguments it appears that those involved in producing this index and understand that they follow the rules of neoliberalism, Featured, reify production knowledge in the subjects directed to an economic order of the capitalist state. The study revealed that in fact the current policies invade public spaces , removing these their autonomy by placing them on the trails of a national policy learners whose purpose and direct them to the job market, offsetting thus built on customary sphere array the history of each community into action. / A presente dissertação de mestrado: o índice de desenvolvimento da educação básica (Ideb) e a reificação na cultura e produção dos conhecimentos educacionais: A experiência nas escolas públicas ludovicenses a partir de 2007. Assim intitulada, vinculada ao grupo de pesquisa: Cultura Científica e Produção dos Conhecimentos Educacionais da Linha de Pesquisa: Instituições Escolares, Saberes e Prática Educativa do Programa de pós-graduação Mestrado em Educação da Universidade Federal do Maranhão. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa que traz como hipótese estratégica a questão da reificação, como fenômeno que transcende a natureza racional do homem, segundo a visão Marxista das relações socioafetivas do fetichismo da mercadoria e os efeitos que esta pode causar nas sociedades capitalistas, o presente estudo aconteceu dentro de um objeto aqui considerado central: Ideb, que em seus argumentos políticos constata-se que os sujeitos envolvidos na produção desse índices, seguem as regras do neoliberalismo, em destaque, reificam a produção dos conhecimentos no direcionamento dos sujeitos para uma ordem econômica do Estado capitalista. E para encontrar os fundamentos para observar a globalização e o neoliberalismo buscou-se fundamento na obra A roleta global, de Piter Gowan. Na etapa da coleta de dados empíricos foi estabelecida a aproximação do objeto central no campo de pesquisa, formalmente articuladas através de ofícios, onde adentrou-se ao interior das unidades de ensino básico vinculadas a Secretaria Municipal de Educação (Semed) do município de São Luís, para dialogar com os sujeitos envolvidos na pesquisa. Nessa etapa, ficou evidenciado que de fato as atuais políticas invadem os espaços públicos, retirando destas unidades sua autonomia, colocando os discentes nas trilhas de uma política nacional cuja finalidade é direcioná-los para o mercado de trabalho anulando, assim, a matriz constituída historicamente na esfera consuetudinária da cultura.

The publication of the thitherto unavailable original scroll of On the Road in 2007 marked a decisive point for Beat scholarship. Enabling line-by-line comparison, the two versions could suddenly be placed under proper scrutiny, and Kerouac’s revisions set up against the established myth of the novel’s creation. How should we understand the revisions? To supply a contribution to an answer, this paper will map the artistic as well as personal trajectory of Jack Kerouac throughout the 1950s. Basing my analysis largely on correspondence, I will show how Kerouac constantly oscillated between different positions and attitudes within the space of literary production. The essay will argue that Kerouac’s pursuit of literary prestige, stood side by side with the always-present alternative of satisfying the demands of the large audience. If we add to this Kerouac’s obsession with his imagined audience it becomes clear that his final work resulted from more than his own aesthetic preferences. Devoting a section to his aesthetic program, I will explore to what extent editorial revisions, even seemingly minor ones, compromised his original text in significant ways. Keeping in mind his erratic trajectory, and adding to it Warren French’s complementary observation that Kerouac’s personality was violently split, will allow us to identify an equally contradictory literary self-expression. Thus comparing On the Road with Visions of Cody (the latter emerged through the revisions of the former), Kerouac’s literary expression can be said to manifest itself in two fundamentally different ways. In Road as a reifying gesture that mystifies man’s connection with the earth, and, in Visions as an opposite gesture of dereification that seeks to disclose the source of man-made products that have become reified. Proposing that the autobiographical component of Kerouac’s writing is essentially a gesture of dereification, the essay will argue that editorial revisions of such works inescapably destabilize the unity between experienced reality and textual representation.

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo analisar sociologicamente a recente ascensão da concepção neurocientífica de homem, tentando compreender e evidenciar em que medida ela está entrelaçada a certos aspectos da sociedade capitalista tardia, sobretudo ao estatuto do sujeito a partir da segunda metade do século XX. Por um lado me preocupo em compreender a gênese da concepção neurocientífica de homem no campo da ciência; por outro, em lançar alguma luz sobre o seu sucesso cultural, o que implica, inevitavelmente, o questionamento acerca da aceitação dessa visão reducionista de homem pelos próprios sujeitos. A hipótese que busco desenvolver é a de que o sucesso vertiginoso e a estabilidade da concepção neurocientífica de homem (seja no campo restrito da ciência, seja no imaginário social) são um sintoma atual entre muitos outros, incontáveis do declínio da subjetividade contemporânea, efeito, por sua vez, do atual estado da civilização Ocidental e de sua marcha contraditória rumo ao progresso. / This dissertation aims to analyze in a sociological fashion the recent rise of the neuroscientific conception of mankind, while trying to understand and demonstrate in which stage it is intertwined with certain aspects of the late capitalist society, especially the status of the subject from the second half of the twentieth century. On the one hand I care to understand the genesis of the neuroscientific conception of mankind in the field of science; on the other hand, to shed some light on their cultural success, which inevitably implies the questioning on the acceptance of this reductionist view of mankind by the subjects themselves. The hypothesis I seek to develop is that the vertiginous success and stability of the neuroscientific conception of mankind (whether in the restricted field of science or in the social imaginary field) is a current symptom - among many others, countless - of the decline of contemporary subjectivity as an outcome caused by the present state of Western civilization and its contradictory march towards progress.

Neste trabalho, estudaremos os filmes da trilogia Matrix do ponto de vista da figuração. A análise do tecido narrativo dos filmes objeto desse estudo revela uma série de falhas e inconsistências. Essas falhas expõem alguns dilemas da experiência sob o domínio do capitalismo tardio. As zonas de ambigüidade e indefinição que identificamos em Matrix nos orientaram a pensar essa obra cinematográfica como um esforço cognitivo mal resolvido. Essa é a epistemologia travada de Matrix, que será estudada não como uma simples falha de diagnóstico resultante da falta de lucidez cognitiva dos criadores da série, mas sim como um exemplar significativo da exposição de limites da figuração histórica. / In this work, we are going to study the Matrix trilogy from the perspective of figuration. The analysis of the narrative fabric of these movies reveals many failures and inconsistencies. Such failures expose some dilemmas of the experience under the domain of late capitalism. The ambiguity and indetermination zones which we identified in Matrix have led us to think these movies to be an unsolved cognitive effort. This is the jammed epistemology of Matrix, which is going to be analyzed not as a simple diagnosis failure due to the movies\' creator\'s lack of cognitive lucidity, but as a significant example of the exposition of the limits of historical figuration.

Nesse ponto, questiona-se em que medida esse modus operandi dificulta o seu reconhecimento e a efetivação dos seus direitos. Como consequência, tem-se a hipótese de que as noções médicas que alicerçam os tratamentos e o cuidado com o “paciente” intersexo terminam por objetificá-lo mediante estruturas de racionalidade pautadas em modelos reificados, o que traz obstáculos para que algumas das suas demandas éticas e jurídicas sejam alcançadas. Para tanto, apresenta-se como objetivo geral analisar, contrapostamente aos pleitos políticos e jurídicos do movimento internacional intersex, o discurso empregado pela construção racional da teoria e da prática biomédica diante das doenças que se convencionou chamar pelo termo “anomalias da diferenciação sexual”. Nesse ínterim, investiga-se em que medida esse esquema viola direitos e impossibilita um efetivo reconhecimento dos intersexuais. Em relação aos objetivos específicos, busca-se, inicialmente, conceituar a noção de reificação em meio às bases teóricas que compõem o sentido trazido por Axel Honneth e a relação do termo com a noção do autor de reconhecimento. Ainda, propõe-se contextualizar a emergência e evolução histórica da prática médica diante do fenômeno e firmar alguns dos preceitos que compõem o que pode se chamar de “racionalidade biomédica”. Além disso, apresenta-se como propósito situar um pouco da apresentação do estado da arte da conquista dos direitos intersex, com especial ênfase à Colômbia e à Austrália. A fim de alcançar esses propósitos, aplica-se como método de abordagem a Teoria de Representação dos Atores Sociais do linguista Theo van Leeuwen (2008), a qual se constitui em modelo crítico de análise do discurso. / The present work is carried out through an analytical contrast of the criticisms brought by the international political movements and social scientists of the "intersex issue" to the way in which the biomedical practices and discourses are based on reified – according to Axel Honneth –forms of rationality set to deal with intersex subjects. At this point, it is questioned to what extent this modus operandi hinders the recognition and realization of intersex rights. As a consequence, it is hypothesized that the medical notions underlying the treatments and care for the intersex "patient" end up by objectifying it through structures of rationality based on reified models, which causes obstacles to some of their ethical and legal demands. In order to do so, it is a general objective to analyze, in opposition to the political and juridical questions of the intersex international movement, the discourse used by the rational construction of biomedical theory and practice in the face of the diseases that are conventionally called the "anomalies or disorders of sexual differentiation". In the meantime, it is investigated to what extent this scheme violates rights and makes impossible the effective recognition of intersexuals. In relation to the specific objectives, it is intended, initially, to conceptualize the notion of reification on the theoretical bases that compose the sense brought by Axel Honneth, as well as the relation of the term with his notion of recognition. Moreover, it is proposed to contextualize the emergence and historical evolution of medical practice in the face of the phenomenon and to establish some of the precepts that make up what can be called "biomedical rationality". In addition, it is proposed to situate some of the state of the art of the conquest of intersex rights, with special emphasis on Colombia and Australia. In order to achieve these aims, the theory of representation of social actors of the linguist Theo van Leeuwen (2008), which constitutes a critical model of discourse analysis, is applied as a method of approach.
