Fragments of the Inverted Self

Love Anderskov, Signe January 2021 (has links)
In September 2018 I started my research project at the Master of contemporary circus practices at DOCH, Stockholm. Much has happened since then. 2018 turned into 2021. The school changed its name to SKH. The world turned into a pandemic battle zone. I turned into a mother of two. Little things, big things. Life. The following is a compilation of material from the last 2½ years. It is made like this to provide insight into an unusual process. A research project where the obstacles during the process ended up being the theme of the project. It is structured as followed:Old text material is kept in its original shape, even when it is painful (!) for me to go back and read it. I have shortened some sections and deleted irrelevant parts even though I know that what seems irrelevant today can become relevant tomorrow. Repetitions will likely occur, some on purpose, others not.Old texts taken from school reports are in blue like this. Blue, for me the color of balance. When I balance on my hands, I see myself in and surrounded by blue shades when I maintain balance and in white when I fall.Extracts from a diary written during this writing process are in red like this. Blood red. Written during a lockdown where I felt quite melodramatic hence the color.A script I wrote to my classmates is in green, the color of... hope? Definitely of new life.New reflections are added, some to explain the research further, others to engage in a critical dialogue with my voice of the past. All new thoughts are in black like this. These texts are the narrator of the story, the guide of the exhibition, the detective of the disappeared meaning, the curator of the mess

Rope Design & Rigging Design : as artistic practice

Rombout, Saar January 2020 (has links)
My research is about Rope Design. The design of, but more importantly, by and with the ropes. I have worked with ropes all my life, in many ways; sailing, circus, rigging, knots, etc. They have had a big impact on me and my life. In my research I am looking at what they can do and who or what they can be. On stage, in my practice and in my daily life. With me, as well as without me. I want to find an equal partnership with them, where I acknowledge that we both have agency and where both of us constantly keep changing and learning from each other. I am discovering how they can change my movement and the way I look at the world.

Grindvakter till svenska scenen : sociala nätverks roll i invandrade scenkonstnärers etablering på svenska arbetsmarknaden

Pergament, Susanna, Swärdh, Jutta January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to investigate how immigrant performing artists have entered the Swedish labour market in the Swedish performing arts profession. Four main questions were considered in the study: 1) Who, and in what capacity, contributed to the artist’s professional success in Sweden, 2) How the artists’ social and cultural capital has contributed to their success, 3) What role does social networking play in the success of these artists, 4) What type of barriers have the artists encountered. Two career theories were applied in the study: Careership theory and the Social Cognitive Career Theory. The qualitative data for the study was acquired through seven interviews. Methods used for analysis were social network analysis of ego-net in combination with analysis of the interview content. The main conclusion from the results of the analysis show that the use of social networks with the right type of contacts and the social and cultural capital of the artists was instrumental in their ability to succeed in the performing arts profession in Sweden. Barriers to establishment in the performing arts profession in Sweden include gatekeepers, normative exclusion, and lack of profession specific language skills.

To train self-conscious dancers : a qualitative study of dance teachers' methods for promoting knowledge development in dance

Bergman, Beatrice January 2019 (has links)

Widelund, Frida January 2023 (has links)

peripheral dancing : a peripheral essay and a peripheral toolbox

Linna, Laura January 2023 (has links)
This text is the second part of a Bachelor's degree project, dealing with the artistic research and presentation, peripheral dancing, conducted as the first part of the project. The research started from a question: Can one challenge, rethink and explore the peripheries, centres, and orientations of and through one's dancing? The work is perceived through the context of Stockholm University of The Arts, specifically through the lens of the BA in Dance Performance programme. In choosing this context, the essay looks at teachers, classes, authors, and theories encountered in the programme. The different aspects of the research, the physical, sounding, and writing practice, are discussed in dialogue with two main references: Queer Phenomenology: Orientations, Objects, Others, a book by British-Australian writer and scholar Sara Ahmed, and We Should All Be Dreaming: Words Make Worlds, a publication by feminist art community UrbanApa. After describing the physical presentation of the research, the essay questions how one can rethink the peripheries and centres of the stage. Furthermore, the work is placed into the context of artists and artworks challenging who and what art is placed in institutions in Sweden and other Nordic countries. The second part of this text offers a toolbox, diving into the physical research of the project, describing scores and materials, as well as references and influences. / <p>Presentation:</p><p>January 17th, 2023</p><p>Stockholms Konstnärliga Högskola, Brinellvägen 58, Stockholm</p>

Klimatet, vår viktigaste berättelse : den (o)hållbara scenkonsten

Bromberg, Annika January 2021 (has links)

The space capsule - A truly spacey musical adventure : Behind the scenes: Identity as artist and pedagogue in the making of a musical performance

Norrman, Hanna January 2023 (has links)
This study contains a formative part in the shape of a musical preformance developed for preschool. The preformance was created with a pedagogical mindset where we wanted to convey emotions to children trough music. Accordning to the curriclum for Swedish preschool (SKOLFS 2010:50), every child must be given the opportunity to learn how to express themsleves through music, and the preschool teatchers have to use the music as both a goal and a means in their teatching.  There is a lack of previous reaserch in the subject of formative/musical preformance developed for preschool. Current reaserch is from the perspective of professional musicians and artists visiting preschools with their acts. No reaserch has been made from the perspctice of the pedagogue who practices music in preschool and theri experiences and troughts about musical preforming arts in preschool practices. The aim of this study is, from a musical didactical perspective, to investigate and analyze hot the conversation about identities as artist and/or pedagogues int the making and implementation of a musical act for preschool. The method of the study is A/R/Tography which means thah I step into the active roles as an artist, reasearcher, and teacher. The musical preformance was preformed at two different preschools for children ages 3-5. I also did two semi-structured interviews with my co-creators. Nielsen`s (1998) music didactic theory and the educational philosopher Biesta`s (2011; 2021) theory of art as an teaching method has been uses in this study to analyze the results. The results showed that the participants to begin with didn`t see themselves as artists but that they in practical terms should be. During the work with the musical preformance the two identities became more and more as one by combining musical and pedagogic experiences. The results also showed that the musical didactical choices we made probably has been influenced by the choice of musical-profiled preschool teatcher education programme.

Welin, Sofia January 2023 (has links)
This study explores how the participants from Livet Bitch performing arts business experience how others view people from Södertälje with a focus on media representation. How do the participants respond to the media image within the framework of Livetbitch's performing arts activities? The consequences of the mediaimage for the participants performing arts practice are also problematized. In order to explore the study's initial questions, a postcolonial feminist perspective is applied. The study shows that the participants' experiences of how others view those who come from Södertälje are complex. Partly the participants oppose the media image and partly they also agree with the media image based on certain aspects. When it comes to the participants' performing arts, participants believe that people with a foreign background from the suburbs often have to act as deputies to break norms, which according to several of the participants means that they become unfree in art. Within the framework of Livetbitch, however, several different aspects of resistance can be found. These strategies are linked to Livetbitch's various film and performing arts productions as well as to the design of the business, i.e. to its similarities with the community theatre.
